I loved this place at first and tried to give them a shot since they help the community out but, they take care of their friends first instead of customers lady said she was going to take my order but she was too busy talking with her friend, another guy took my order a couple mins later. Meanwhile her coworker got there made him a drink and kept me waiting I waited more then 10mins for mine. I like to support but after this i think I will pass.

Love getting the foamy americano here! Also great biscuits and gravy for breakfast, or a breakfast sandwich.

I have lived/worked in the northeast for the past couple years, and am eternally grateful for the beautiful God-honoring men and women who serve here. Coffee-aside(which is unusual for me), they are a blessing to so-so many folks here in the roughest parts of KCMO. I love to spend my time/money here knowing it goes to spread the gospel to those who are lost, and are able to hear the words of life(just like I need too!). Now to the food/drinks. I love their Black Diamond blend, it is a great medium/dark roast that just hits the spot in the cold Kansas City winter. Another great drink is their cortado(the dezi way), and it is really refreshing served with a side of sparkling water, with the little coffee beans as well! Their food is very consistent across the board, making delicious dishes such as their Biscuits & Gravy, their BLT, and the famous Turkey Jack! Not to mention their delicious coffee cake and lemon bars! I could go on for ages, and I admit my bias haha. The bottom line is this, do you want to put your money where your mouth is? Come, enjoy the blessings of God, and take part in what He is doing here in this dark city by patronizing this beautiful shop!

Awesome coffee shop with a beautiful mission. Great place to hang out or study with tasty breakfast options and coffee.

Google
This is a fine neighborly, family owned coffee shop! If you want something different than a national chain coffee, try Eleo's. It's on the 24 Bus that goes down Independence Avenue. Saturdays at 10am is a great little Bible study for those of us in the real world - it's low key, interactive, and a non-churchy atmosphere!

The bacon and egg breakfast sandwich is the stuff dreams are made of. 🤤 This coffee is always the best, especially their seasonal peppermint mocha! It’s also a great place to bring kids as there is space to color and everyone is so friendly and kind ❤️

Yelp
Flower boxes adorn the windows, while the interior exudes a warm and inviting ambiance. A chalkboard menu above the front counter showcases freshly baked goods, and pitchers of complementary lemon water are strategically placed throughout the restaurant. A postboard provides information about upcoming social events, business coupons, and more. Burlap bags of freshly roasted, aromatic coffee beans are available for purchase. Upon ordering, customers are given the option of dining in either of two dining rooms. The main room is inviting and cozy, while the second room is larger and offers a more private atmosphere. During weekday mornings, the second dining room serves as a community gathering place for a Bible study. They also provide a free hot lunch, including homemade soup, to homeless individuals and other community members. Additionally, they have a food pantry. I appreciate the coffee house's strong support for the community and the Christian values it promotes. The coffee, espresso, and iced coffee drinks are delicious and reasonably priced. My personal favorite is the one blended with ice cream, which I believe is called the "White Tiger." It's smooth, mild, sweet, and creamy, with just the right hint of bold espresso flavor. Overall, it's a wonderful experience for all your senses!

Yelp
Love coming to this place, I usually just get an espresso with some syrup added I believe I got one that had cinnamon, cardamom and nutmeg. It was so good it tasted like a hug in a mug. I also got the cinnamon roll and it was delicious

Yelp
I had mixed feelings about my first visit to Eleos Coffee a few years back. I truly appreciated that it was an independant shop in a neighborhood that could certainly use a caffeine option other than 7-11; and it was a quirky rehab of an older building and not in a cookie cutter stripmall. As an atheist it did give me pause to support a business that used outward religious beliefs in their business model. My second visit last week was part of the spring 2024 Caffeine Crawl. I along with 18 others were treated to an overview of the business, sampled 3 of their in-house roasted drip offerings, sampled the best damn brownie ever, played a contest to guess the products by taste, took home a free bag of beans, chatted with the owner and head roaster, and witnessed a worship service in the back parking lot. Has my cynical opinion softened? Yes! After seeing first hand how they are delivering a positive impact on a neighborhood overrun with crime and homelessness and not shipping profits to a corporate headquarters out of state, I can overlook my personal religious views (or lack of) and eagerly offer a full hearted Amen! Afterall they are not a government entity, not forcing anyone into the shop or into their belief system and are genuinely good people doing more positives for this great city than I am. I will stop anytime that I'm in the area and hoist a delicious cup and break bread with some cool people working at making a difference in their community.

Yelp
Coffee with a Purpose is how I would describe Eleos. I absolutely just love this place. I'm new to the area and stumbled upon them and can't get enough. The staff is always really friendly and it's nice place to sit and work. I love that they have different flavors to choose from for the coffee. They make their syrups in house and they're never too sweet, so I get a good balance of flavor and coffee neither overpowers the other. They even have pastries and sandwiches to choose from. Shameless plug they even have 10 am bible study Tuesday to Saturday They are a Christian based ministries share a building with refugee kc. ( I believe I spelled this correctly) I love that they want to spread the word and care about people spiritually and mentally. This will forever be a go to.

Yelp
I was recommended to try their coffee by the barista from another coffee shop. And it is so true! Eleos has great coffee! I had latte to go, 16oz one, and the coffee scent was strong, it has a tiny bit sourness which is unique to some type of coffee bean. And the milk kind of balanced the coffee. They offer really fair price for the quality coffee, and they created a really cozy/warm environment inside of the shop. One bug is that they tried to give the customer a warm feeling when they are in the shop, but the outside, this shop gave me a cold and suspicious feeling because the window has the bars, and everything was like shielded. Maybe because they have to due to the location and the neighborhood? I felt guarded when I get off my car just within the short distance to the coffee shop. Because every store on that street are some kind of bared and shielded. The parking is another issue for people like me who came from outside of the neighborhood. It could get more attention if the location is more welcoming. I still highly recommend to pay it a visit, try their coffee!

Yelp
We were finally in the area and jumped at the chance to try out Eleos. I had to compare places but it reminds me of PT's, PH and Splitlog. It has that everyone knows your name at home feel. They are dedicated to great coffee and service and they execute it beautifully. A true hidden gem. You are in a very heavy populated homeless area and you have to understand that and accept it. You are safe and no one bothers you. Eleos employees make sure of that. Coffee is smooth and they offer almond or coconut milk options. They also have a few hot breakfast menu items and some pastries.

Yelp
I had a lavender honey oatmilk latte and absolutely enjoyed it. Tasted like it was made with love. I also had the hummus and pita Very fresh and delicious breakfast. Nice portion. Can't wait to return and try the Turkish syrup

Yelp
If you want the Starbucks environment this is the place! The coffee is really good plus the biscuits and gravy is a really good size portion! The employee even brought the food over to the table!

Yelp
I had a great first time experience here! Eleos has been on my list for a long time now so I was very excited to see them open back up after they have been closed due to COVID. I almost got my usual vanilla latte but saw that they had horchata, so I had to have that instead! Any time horchata is offered, I'm down! And I'm glad I did because it was amazing!!! With a shot of espresso of course! I feel like that are a lot of different hidden gems down Independence Avenue and this is definitely one of them! Their space space is really open and the customer service is friendly! If you like a lot of lighting, there's window seating that brings in good natural lighting! I will definitely be adding Eleos to my list if places to recommend and revisit!

Yelp
Could this place be any cuter! We live in historic northeast and these little shops up and down the ave are the reason we love this area! We saw some of the yelp reviews and photos on here and literally did this place no justice because they have since updated their decor since those last images! We ordered a French vanilla iced coffee, Mexican hot cocoa, and two coffee cakes. The iced coffee was delicious I felt like I was literally sucking on a coffee bean you could actually taste the flavor and it wasn't overpowered by the cream. The Mexican hot cocoa was NOTHING as expected it had a spicy kick to it! The freaking coffee cake though... AMAZING it had soo many delicious things going on you will just have to take my word on it and try it! Will def be going back soon!

Yelp
This morning I felt like escaping the inevitable hipster 20/30-something headphone plugged-in crowd with laptops jamming ever freaking conceivable table at my favorite "near downtown" coffee shop and opted for something different. Boy, did I succeed. Take a drive on the wild side, down Independence Avenue east of downtown, the part of town Yelpers avoid. Certainly the only coffee-house style joint in this area that can whip up an espresso. While the decor screams Restaurant Impossible candidate, the food and coffee is very good. The house latte is a monster served in a very tall, large, pre-heated ceramic mug that keep it warm far beyond anticipated. A breakfast wrap was freshly prepared (hot) and served with a nice sweet marmalade style dipping sauce that was a nice addition to the breakfast. Came with a side. I chose an apple which I thought unusual, and it happened to be a great one. If you come, you should know: - South Johnson County residents, you will be uncomfortable here. You know why. - Wireless available and it's surprisingly quite fast. Phone number is the password. - Parking available in the rear of the building if the front of the street is filled. - No hipster barista or customer vibe here. Nada, missing. - They'll do the Frappe/Crappe thing for those of you on coffee training wheels. - The chances of getting exceptional Mexican food within 400 yards: 100% certainty. - People coming in are getting addressed by their first names. - Good customer service is visible. Food: solid 4 stars Coffee: 3.5 stars Interior vibe: 1.5 stars Cleanliness: 4 stars

Yelp
Great place for communing with fellow believers and for all for need a hand, they are always here and helpful. These guys have a real heart to serve our struggling community!

Yelp
A Christian coffee house in the middle of northeast Kansas City, where hangout spots are few and far between. I got the Ethiopian pour over, and it was delicious! The staff is so friendly and nice, greeting everyone that walked in on a first-name basis. The building has many rooms, where they have bible studies and invite the locals and regulars to come join them. There is a lot of ambient noise, definitely a good place for people watching and eavesdropping.

Yelp
No better coffee in Northeast. OH - the ONLY locally roasted quality coffee in HNE. Breath of fresh air in HNE. Dan and his crew do good things in this community and their product is stellar as well. Go for the coffee - stick around for some great grub and some cool music too. Sportster ...that's where this biker get his joe

Yelp
My friend and I stopped at this coffee shop while passing through Kansas City and had a great experience. Our coffee and chai tea latte were perfect and the service here was superb! We also were graciously treated to lunch by a local church group! (Thank you!) We both had the Mo Veggie sandwich on a croissant and loved it!

Yelp
Eleos is not your typical coffee house. They have great coffee (we buy the whole bean and drink it everyday) and excellent sandwiches. Located in a part of town that isn't where you would expect to find a good coffee house, Eleos is not trying to maximize profits but impact the city and more so its people in a positive way. If you work even close to downtown I suggest giving Eleos a try. I think you will be surprised.

Yelp
Eleos is a local coffee house, and roaster. They also serve grilled sandwiches & wraps. They make the most amazing iced soy mocha. Forget Starbucks and try local. Parking is on the street or you can park in back behind the bldg.

Yelp
in my quest to try every coffee place in the metro, i drove past this place this other day and the name sounded familiar, so stopped in, and for a place nestled firmly in the hood, it was interestingly enough staffed and patronized by an all white clientele. i'm not sure what that means, but i found it very odd. the space itself is small, in one of those store front buildings you drive past and wonder why it's empty. the coffee was cheap and good. i did not notice if they sold any food. the place was full in the late morning, which is a good sign, and they told me there were a number of coffee shops opening in the area, so I'll be hunting those out soon too. friendly staff.

Yelp
I'm so happy to have found this place! I work around the area and I die because the only place I can get a decent cup of coffee is quiktrip. This place is down to earth with great coffee and great brunch options!

Tony R.

Yelp
Words can't describe the level of awesome this place is offering. If your feeling down or your hungry and down on your luck. Just talk to management and they will do their best to accommodate you and your needs. They have a Bible study every Tuesday thru Saturday at 10am.. go get that spiritual food that satisfies the soul. Five stars for a five star classy establishment. The coffee isn't bad either!!

Yelp
I had a blended java chip with a bagel sandwich and for my side I got taco soup. Everything was very delicious! & talk about local this place is right up the street from my house! Great getaway coffee shop!! Also they have a lot of seating I was surprised (the coffee shops that I've gone to usually don't have that much space) It was my first time here and I will definitely have to come back and get another blended java chip!!!

Yelp
Great locally owned coffee in the Northeast.

Yelp
Independence is very blessed to have this coffee shop. Such great prices, and SUCH friendly people! The space is great, the only downfall is that they aren't open past 2, which is disappointing. But the few times I have been here I was impressed. Eleos, you're grand.
google avatar

Carl F.

Yelp
This place made a very happy start to my day! Great hot breakfast sandwiches and a salted caramel latte for less money than similar restaurants! Relaxing music and VERY friendly staff, and the owner Dan was really kind! I heard they donate lots off food to homeless people too, so by eating here you can support the local community!
google avatar

Andy M.

Yelp
Another great Historic Northeast business. Y'all make a mean mint mocha (BUZZ). I'll have to stick around and try your breakfast sometime.

Alex F.

Yelp
Coffee is very good. Food is decent, but nothing to write home about. Employees were very friendly. It is a Christian oriented coffee shop. On a Friday morning the only other patrons were two church groups, and Christian music was playing. Nothing wrong with it, but not really my scene.
google avatar

Ashley L.

Yelp
Cozy spot for an excellent cup of coffee. They offer pour overs, espresso drinks, and traditional drip coffee, as well as a number of non-coffee drinks. I have never been disappointed! The food is good as well! My favorite is the turkey jack (closely rivaled by the BLT) and my husband is a huge fan of the Big Mo. The staff is lovely and welcoming.

Purple P.

Yelp
Good chai tea latte. Tried the all-american, which I felt could have had more to it, but it was still good.
