I opened my mailbox and found a flyer for a free cheeseburger at Elevation Burger Falls Church. My first thought: What is the catch... No one just sends you a free cheeseburger. To my delight, there was no catch, just a free burger. Since I love burgers I made my way down to Elevation burger to feed my face.
THE FIRST IMPRESSION:
I walk in and the place is moderately busy around lunchtime, but there is no one waiting to order. There is music playing throughout the building giving the place an upbeat atmosphere. The counter guy is doing something in the corner and it takes a short time to acknowledge me. When he does he greets me so quietly that I do not even know what he said. I hand him my free cheeseburger flyer, tell him I want to add fries and a drink. He rings me up, gets my name, I pay, and he hands me the receipt without a word.
CUSTOMER SERVICE: During this visit, my interaction with the staff was limited because the ordering process went so fast, but I would feel better if I was greeted in a clear manner when I approach the counter. I don't even think this is something I care about, but because it is done at so many other food establishments, It is just something I am accustomed to having, and notice when it does not happen.
THE FOOD: Is there anything bad anyone can say about a FREE burger? I don't think so...well then again...there is always THAT GUY who can complain about anything. I am not him. The free "Elevation Burger" was a double patty, double cheeseburger to which I added Lettuce, pickles, tomato, ketchup, mustard, and mayo. The bun was fresh and had a buttery flavor and tasted great. 1 downside on the bun for me was that the bottom half was a tad soggy when took a bite into the burger. Overall the "Elevation burger" was the exact type of burger I enjoy. Great beef flavor, complemented by the condiments and cheese.
Next on the list is the "Olive Oil Fries" they taste like fresh cut fries similar to In and Out burger. I am neutral on the fries. They are not bad, but they are not over the top great to rave about. Just simple fries and that is what I like. At $2.95 for the fries, I am happy since I paid $4.95 for a side of fries at Red Apron Butcher last week.
Lastly, The cherry vanilla coke. I feel that a cheeseburger has to always be accompanied by some form of coke. Today I chose the cherry vanilla variety which was dispensed by one of the cool touch screen soda machines that have a variety of drinks and flavors to add to anything you choose.
THE RESTROOM: I have decided to add a rundown of the restroom to all of my reviews because I feel a clean restroom is important. The restroom at elevation burger was ok, not excellent. On the floor, I saw what I hope was water drops, some pee in the toilet, and on the toilet. Lucky for me I was only washing my hands since the toilet did not look welcoming covered and filled with the pee of another person.
THE WRAP UP: Great tasting simple burger and fries in an upbeat environment with the option to sit outdoors.
