Eleven

"The name Eleven refers to the eleven friends, one a chef, who embarked upon this business venture in a unique space with a minimalist look in the upper section of the Amália Rodrigues gardens, with stunning views of the Eduardo VII park. German chef Joachim Koerper, who has vast international experience behind him, serves Mediterranean-inspired cuisine with a meticulous and creative touch, based around locally sourced seasonal ingredients. His culinary focus is built around three menus: one dedicated to the “50-year career of Joachim Koerper”; a second more contemporary offering simply called “Onze”; and a third, “Lavagante Azul”, which showcases the blue lobster after which it is named." - Michelin Inspector

If you have a TON of money to throw away, go for it! It was $600+ for two of us for dinner. While the beginning started off great, and the wine pairing was good, the main course was not. I ordered the lamb chops and what I got was ground up lamb wrapped in something. It was supposed to come with potatoes and what I got wasn’t recognized as a potato. My husband ordered the steak medium rare and it was not even rare. Seemed barely cooked. At that point we just wanted to move forward and finish the next 4 courses. There were only 3 tables being served on a Friday night.

I went to the Eleven restaurant with friends and we opted for the “Eleven” tasting menu with wine pairings. When we arrived, we were taken to the table and stood there kind of “abandoned” for almost 10 or 15 minutes until we were actually served. But after that, the service was very good and the food was very good too. In the end, what I missed, compared to other restaurants with tasting menus I’ve been to, was receiving a copy of the wine menu. But it was very good, and the view from the restaurant over the park in Lisbon is very beautiful too!

I was here for my birthday. Terrible service and food definitely was not on par with other Michelin rated restaurants. For the two of us just lunch we spent close to €500 for their set lunch menu (3 courses). Honestly a good place for corporate meals (nice view but not good value), that’s prob why we saw people around us were mostly there for business. There are so many good restaurants in Lisbon, take this one off your list and try something else.

We have travelled to dozens of countries across the world and tried many 1 and 2 star restaurants of all types of cuisine. This was by far the least deserving . Upon entry , the Portuguese “lazy flies” of the season were swarming us in the lobby . Roughly 10 minutes of waiting later we were sat in a half empty restaurant for lunch. Not sure why it took so long since the seats were empty anyways. We ordered the Business lunch for 79euro each, the 3 course meal, with a bonus bite at the start . The bonus bite was tuna sashimi topped with caviar in a seafood broth . The broth was tasty but nothing special . The tuna left a fishy aftertaste that should have been a good indication of what was to come later in the meal. The appetizer was an eel in a green apple sauce . The dish was just okay, but I didn’t come here for just okay. It lacked complexity; fish and green apple isn’t a new concept. A bit of wasabi or horseradish , with a touch of crème frauche would do this dish justice. 3/5 We had 2 different mains: The cod only tastes of cucumbers . That’s it . That’s my only comment . Cucumbers . The famous “Day in Singapore” was not good all . A mouthful of salty XO sauce soaked rice, with overcooked dry roast suckling pork. Unfortunately, plating it into little cubes doesn’t make it taste better. The dessert was a rice pudding in mango sauce sorbet. This was just Okay as well ; no major comments on this . Service was not particularly attentive with slow service and water pouring , combined with the sorry excuse of food , leaves me with a bad impression of Portuguese fine dining. Overall, with the price and Michelin star in mind, we were expecting high quality, complex dishes with dimensional tastes, and exceptional services, but unfortunately, it was very underwhelming and definitely not worth our money.

What an amazing experience! I’m not sure why there are bad reviews - we had an amazing experience. This Michelin restaurant had all the creativity while still feeling very relaxed and comfortable. Pricing is extremely reasonable per person (around 200 euros person) and it was an eleven course meal - each meal was so carefully crafted and the chef made a point to come out and greet every table. The dinner also included a signed cook book by the chef himself; amazing souvenir! We did the eleven menu and it was amazing! my husband is a picky eater and was very satisfied and gave the seafood a try despite not being that big on seafood. All the flavours worked so well and we loved every creation. I also really liked the olive oil and the staff were able to sell me a bottle!! Loved it and so happy to walk away with such great souvenirs!! Definitely worth a visit :)

The atmosphere and the service is hard to wrap my head around in the beginning but that was partially because me and my buddy went there with Tshirts. The waiter staff and the hosts explained everything well and were very courteous. I’d recommend wearing as formal an attire as possible and enjoy the MAS experience! Oh and the chef also helped me as a pescatarian!

The location of eleven is outstanding set in the park with floor to ceiling windows provided a great experience. The tasting menu was great and felt the wine pairings were excellent. Service was exceptional and getting a cookbook autographed by chef Joachim was a nice touch. Lived up to the one star Michelin rating.

An evening at Eleven was an absolute highlight of our trip to Lisbon. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with such warmth. Sheila was an exceptional host - she welcomed us so kindly and made us feel so special as she showed us to our table. Her friendly demeanor truly set the tone for a perfect night. The restaurant's setting is stunning, with a breathtaking view of Parque Eduardo VII and the city lights. The minimalist yet elegant decor creates an intimate and sophisticated atmosphere. The food, of course, was an experience in itself. The menu showcases Chef Joachim Koerper’s creative Mediterranean cuisine, highlighting fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients. We enjoyed the "Eleven" tasting menu, which was a beautifully crafted journey of flavors, from the amuse-bouche to the impeccable "map of Portugal" cheese course. The wine pairing was also fantastic and perfectly complemented each dish. Eleven is more than just a meal; it's a memorable culinary experience. We highly recommend it for a special occasion or simply to indulge in some of the best fine dining Lisbon has to offer. Thank you, Sheila, and the entire team for a truly unforgettable evening!

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic, the perfect execution of flavors, serve and view. We stumbled on this restaurant in the afternoon looking for an easy meal without reservations and this served us beautifully.

Yelp
I'm shocked myself to be giving such a low review for this restaurant that is a 9-years+ Michelin star restaurant but honestly the establishment needs some serious change if it's to keep that title or have me go again. The main disappointment was that the service was just HORRIBLE. There would be times we felt neglected and there would be long delays between courses that really interrupted the flow of the evening. It was so bad that we were able to notice that our dishes slowed down so much that other tables (at least 2) that had showed up 30-45 minutes after us had caught up to our course. It was hard to even flag people down. The food was delicious but didn't have that wow factor. My partner is vegetarian and her meal was simply the same dish just substituted with a vegetarian food type so like replacing meat with soy protein or vegetables. It felt like such a cut and paste type of action that her dishes were quite underwhelming and left a lot to be desired. The restaurant does have a beautiful spacious space that overlooks the park but that's not enough to cover the underwhelming food and terrible service. It felt like they were just doing the bare minimum and riding on the success of past years and I would be honestly surprised if they keep the star with this kind of experience. For reference, we had the typical 11 experience menu.

Yelp
Eleven was one of the highlights of my Eurotrip this summer. I went for a lunch, as recommended by a colleague of mine (an "economical lunch option" he said...which it is not). Everything I had was so delightful. I decided to ball out and get a full on Eleven meal. I think my favorite dish was the raw fish and beluga caviar served with pea and vanilla broth. Highly recommend if you get a chance to visit Lisbon.

Yelp
As a Michelin star restaurant one would expect impeccable service ! Not the case! Food was a hit no doubt about it, well balanced , textures complimented one another, and the seasoning was spot on! I see why it's a Michelin ! The device is lack of , service team was not proud of their establishment, they lacked education of the food and the flavors - maybe they never had it - so how could they speak about it? The service was a 4 in my standards, ambiance was 6 (plz do not allow under dressed to come in and wear whatever - if I came in w pajamas they would take me - which is disappointing and disrespectful to the patrons that pay high priced meals and support you; the cleanliness of bathroom 10; and the acoustics was 7 - I wasn't hearing much of white noise or other people's conversation but it did carry slightly. Location is superb!!!!

Yelp
It was on my partner and I's bucket list to dine at a Michelin Star restaurant, so, while in Lisbon, why not? It's true the views are very nice and the restaurant itself has a nice ambience. We were greeted promptly by our names which was nice, and then seated. I'm not lying when I say for most of the night, we were one of three couples in the restaurant....which was super weird and uncomfortable; so service was very on-top. We ordered the Eleven meal which I believe was 10 courses. What really irked us was the bread we were served to begin the meal; the butter was so cold - completely un spreadable. Atleast have it be a little warm! The dishes got going and they were good. I have nothing else to really say about them, other than there was a lot of flavor all at once. The dishes kept coming and coming and (yes obviously we should've known) but it was just so excessive. There were 4 courses of dessert. I felt like I had to be rolled out of there. But as far as the food goes, I wish there was more explanation or context to go along with them. Shrimp paired with curry and peanut? Why? I'd like to actually know! (Not sarcasm). Some type of explanation or information would make this experience a 4 star vs 3. Now...for the inexcusable part in my opinion. As the night went on, around 9pm, a couple more people came in. One pair being a father and his young son. Dressed. In. Sweatpants. This to me really cheapened the experience. If you are going to charge hundreds of dollars for a meal, you need to hold your guests to the highest standard possible. Maybe they were trying to fill seats in a very empty restaurant, but allowing this type of dress was so inappropriate. Overall, a bit disappointed in the experience. Glad we tried it, not sure we would again.

Yelp
During my trip to Portugal I decided to this Michelin rated restaurant for lunch. The experience was dining at its finest. With each course I receive new silverware, every dish was described to me and finishing touches were added. I started with the duck, then had the bake and finished with strawberry dessert. The portions were small but delicious and for the experience it was worth the €40

Yelp
Come here for lunch if you don't have the time or bandwidth for hours of a tasting menu. Every table in the room will have a nice park view and the service is solid. Their bread and sardine butter were really good and their foie gras gold bar portion was insanely huge, though I think it was because my husband egged them on to give us more bars! The mains were all rather disappointing, but their deconstructed Pastel de Nata dessert was quite good. For under $100 PP, if you don't booze it up, this place is a good bang for your buck for a 1 Star Michelin quick fine dining fix.

Yelp
We dined at Eleven in February of 2023. Wonderful food. Great ambience. The signed copy of Chef Joachim Koerper's cookbook (pictured) was a special treat. A majority of the staff were kind, considerate, and knowledgeable. However, there were a few staff members who were far less pleasant. As we were leaving I overheard two staff members making distasteful comments regarding other diners as well as persons in my party. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience but was ultimately disappointed in those few staff members.

Yelp
Located atop the Lisbon's Amália Rodrigues Gardens, with a beautiful city view, Restaurante Eleven currently sees German born Chef Joachim Koerper celebrating fifty years of professional cooking with a legacy menu featuring his personal favorites across decades in Germany, Spain and Portugal. Boasting 1* from Michelin and a storied art collection, denizens of Lisbon's business district frequently seen partaking in lengthy lunches amidst posh environs, it was shortly after noon that that the Restaurant was ready to serve, the €54 prix-fixe to generous to pass up, though the lengthier seasonal menu is also available. Light and airy across two stories, wood with large windows looking toward the river, it was not long after seating that Bread was presented, a trio of styles each excellent on their own but better with top-tier Butter, Olive Oil and a Spread of smoked Sardines. Served as three courses sandwiched between Amuse and Mignardises, the former placing fresh Shrimp in fragrant Gazpacho, Koerper's "Gold Bar" sees silky Liver amidst Plums both natural and manipulated, the Gel intensely sweet while what appears to be a whole Fruit has Confit concealed inside. Artistic in terms of plating, Red Mullet with Peas and Saffron delicate in terms of taste as well as texture, "My Version of the Pastel de Nata" arrives vertical with all the proper elements plus delicate Coffee Mousse before ending with three treats including a memorable Orange Pate de Fruit.

Yelp
An amazing experience. We had their 20 year celebratory menu which was fantastic! Excellent service beautiful views and excellent food in beautiful China!

Yelp
Very disappointing! After reading reviews and dining at several Michelin star restaurants with divine degustation menus while on our Portugal trip, we were excited to have a reservation at Eleven. Ambiance was nice and we were greeted warmly. This is the last good thing I will say about the experience. We both ordered the Eleven menu which was a 6 course tasting menu with wine pairings and a few other surprise snacks along the way. While nothing was too bad, the word that I would use is mundane. Nothing stood out as special. Instead the meal just trudged along, with one uninspired dish after another. The fish dishes were just ok, and I have had better lamb in a casual tapas restaurant. Desserts were tasty but again very pedestrian. When dropping over 500 euros on a meal, you expect it to be exceptional. This was far from it. My wife and I both got to the point that we were in a hurry to finish up and leave. I'm not sure if they are just handing out Michelin stars these days, but we had a meal the night before in a taberna for a fifth of the price that we found to be vastly superior. My advice is to skip Eleven.

Yelp
I wanted to try a Michelin star restaurant during my trip to Portugal. I had a big group with me, a party of 6. Unfortunately, most Michelin star restaurants only take up to four for a reservation. However, Eleven was one of the few that took up to 6! I was hesitant because of the low rating on Yelp. Due to circumstances, it was the only restaurant available for the date we wanted. Nonetheless, $158 for a Michelin star restaurant sounds like a great deal to me. I had to put down 150 Euro for my reservation and it was deducted from my final price at the end. Fast forward one month after I made the reservation, we had our dinner on a Monday night. The restaurant was half-filled. And we had a fantastic time there. I haven't had that many experiences with Michelin stars restaurants and this one definitely tops them all. When I look back on my dining experience, I usually evaluate on these couple of areas: Food, Environment (convenience of parking, noise level, decoration), Service, and Price. While different restaurants I would have different expectations for these categories, my expectation definitely impact my rating for the experience. Food (5/5): My expectation was high for a Michelin star restaurant We got the 11 elements standard course. The menu only listed 9, so I wasn't completely sure what constituted the other 2 elements. Anyways, The food was amazing! Even the bread they put on the table with the butter, I'm not a bread person, but let me tell you, I killed all the bread. I loved the scallops, that was definitely my favorite element of the meal. One of the elements was the soup. They put a lot into thinking about how the soup should absorb the flavor from the ingredient. We even had a demo on how they cook the soup. I love that little thing they do. But if you ask me if I can tell the difference on whether the soup was evaporated/ sucked by the fire like a chemistry lab exercise or just boiled, I probably couldn't tell you. Nonetheless, I liked the detail they did with innovation. The only thing I didn't like was the cheese plate, map of Portugal. But that's only 1 out of 11. Environment (5/5): The restaurant was on a hill and you could oversee the city from the restaurant. You also have a large glass to see the outside while dining in. Because we came during dinner time, it was pretty dark, we couldn't enjoy the view. They also have a parking lot for those who drive. Service (5/5): This is definitely a michelin star establishment, from the way that they explained the course and always served the ladies first. I felt like the staff were very well trained. Price (5/5): For $150, this is definitely worth it. Also, its almost impossible to get this price for this much food in United States. I would highly recommend other to come here.

Yelp
Excellent place for lunch. Extremely reasonable price. Perfect service. Good portion of food serving. Very good flavor. Portuguese cuisine well worth its Michelin. Not exactly understand the bad reviews because quite to the contrary, if this was in San Francisco, this meal would have cost a fortune. Business lunch is served Monday to Saturday. For less than 40 Euros, you get three course plus breads and desserts, nearly as good as Jean George, and Jean George is a Michelin 3 star restaurant, so if you were to do a fair comparison, I'd say this place should deserve a 2 stars not 1. I went for the fish salad followed by the fish sampler. The cheese course had three different types of cheeses, two are from Portugal and one from France. All very good. They also bring in the dessert tray which is an assortment of desserts which you could choose, part of the meal cost, nothing extra. The breads are delicious, most surprisingly is the olive bread. It's definitely very Mediterranean in influence. I had a glass of white wine which seemed to be the thing to get in Portugal. The lamb course was also a winner, though for me, I think if you are in a country surrounded by sea, best to get your seafood in. One thing that I regretted not getting is the stone soup from the regular menu, seems like everyone is getting it and I did not as the food is a lot for one person under the super economical business lunch section. Easy to make a reservation. I understand some reviewers had trouble with booking. In 2017, pretty hard to not get a reservation if you just typed the restaurant name in Google and then the reservation bar is right on their website. I got one email reminder and two text messages to ensure that I don't forget. No fuss no muss. They use Fork instead of Open Table but it's just as straight forward. Excellent team of service staff. Every bit of it was Michelin worthy. A place like this in California would easily be a Michelin 2 star. Ignore the negative reviews. This is a perfect spot to get your Michelin in for a fraction of the price you'd pay if you were in America. Come before it becomes a Michelin 2 star!

Yelp
An amazing Michelin experience all around, highly recommend this place. Eleven is a small and not very crowded restaurant sitting inside a park on top of the hill with an amazing view. The concierge at EPIC SANA recommended and having not read the Yelp rating we took him up on it. He is right about the place. Eleven's chef is also a celebrity like Thomas Keller of the French Laundry, and having been to both recently I'd say Eleven is a more intimate, original, and detail oriented experience. The bread comes with smoked liver pate; the Portuguese wines complement the tasting menu perfectly; the service staff is cordial and precise at the same time; and every dish has a bit of wow factor. They were not offended either by our request to compress the dinner experience a bit in order to make a late night business call with the US. The ability to feel relaxed in a formal setting is what made the evening so special.

Yelp
Rather disappointed and left me feeling guilty for dragging along others to sit through (and pay for) a lacking experience.... Service - abysmal... - Started right when we walked in the door and there was no hostess, who when she finally did show up barely bothered to acknowledge us as she took a couple who came in after to their table - Then came the waiter who took forever to take our order (note the place was half empty so it's not like he was juggling), was extremely unhelpful when we finally were ordering, and was put out to have to do math to split the check - Then there was the sommelier who didn't show up to drop off the menu until halfway through the meal (even though he was requested at the beginning) and didn't come back to take the order until right before the entree - followed by the server who couldn't quite remember what we were eating and had to restart the description a few times (this one wasn't as bad, she was obvi trying) - rounded out by being charged for an extra bread service Food - good, interesting hence the extra star, but not great - 2 amuse bouche- one was scallop that had interesting flavors but the texture was a little off putting, and the shrimp which was good but a little bland - lobster app- the sauce it came in only had flavor if you scrapped the beads of sauce from the side of the plate into the broth. Lobster was well cooked, foam was unnecessary - sea bass entree - the fish was good for the most part, well cooked and seasoned, only draw back was that the skin wasn't crispy. The sides were fine (peas 4 ways) and the broth was tasty. One dinner companion who also got the fish found it too salty and another who had the lobster entree really liked it so that may have been a better way to go. Kinda surprised at the Michelin star, and given the price point and service, I definitely won't be adding this to the recommendation list...

Yelp
Came here for our business lunch. We did have reservations, so we were seated quickly. We ordered the 3 course prize fix. One chose the salmon tartar with caviar. Duck maigret and dessert. The other ordered oyster chowder. Sea breed fish and dessert. First. We had their bread service, which was excellent. Three kinds of bread. It also came with regular butter, smoked butter, and olive oil. All were good. An amuse bouch was tuna tatami and it was good. The oyster was okay. Was nothing like a chowder at all. The salmon tartar with caviar was good. The duck was okay as one piece was quite rare even though it should have been medium. Sea bream fish was good. Dessert was okay as we asked for the ice cream to be separated as one was lactose intolerant, but they did not. Service was okay

Yelp
This place was a fantastic restaurant, experience, ambiance, and was almost like a museum with the quality of art and pieces they had up. I am definitely going to go back. Dishes were spot on, felt great after. Michelin star deserved.

Yelp
So, this is what I get for not listening to Yelp and taking another site's reviews into consideration. This meal at Eleven. We went here for our wedding anniversary. We were lured -- yes lured, by the photos of gorgeous serene park views. The lone Michelin Star dining experience. Ambient lighting and the prospect of reminiscing over another year of marriage with calm soft voices over succulent seafood. We entered the dining room and thought that was all going to happen but no - nada disso aconteceu (none of it happened). First, we were seated right next to a semi private dining area taken by a group business dinner of Americans. The noise from their side was Diners, Drive-in's and Dives rather than serene tablecloth dining. The table next to us was a solo diner who spent her entire time watching Kdramas on an iPad that was in my line of sight and featured some half naked BTS wannabes. Perhaps she was some sort of royalty, but it was rather odd and sad. Maybe she did the right thing by wearing gigantic noise cancellation headphones so the Americans didn't interfere with her dining experience. If that decor was off-putting, so was the food. We ordered the Eleven Menu AND Babbette's Feast. Yes, we were warned that it was a lot of food. Our server audibly gasped in disbelief when we said we wanted it all. But we were not dissuaded. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. Course after course was just bland, either over cooked (steak) or not cooked enough (eggplant). One of the gimmicks was a hario coffee maker technique to cook soup. I started videoing it thinking that it would be done fairly quick (the other times I've seen this tableside they usually heat the liquid beforehand). Well, 37 minutes later (yes, my iPhone nearly died after that), it still was not done. The final product was mediocre broth that could have been replaced with Swanson's bone broth without any incident. The trifecta of disappointment was the service. Servers were definitely eager but interrupted at awkward times -- like when we were exchanging gifts and reading cards (and yes right in the middle of me tearing up). We told the restaurant beforehand that we were celebrating our anniversary and they even wished us so. Overall, eleven scores an 11 for memorable dining experiences. But far from that in terms of any awesomeness. Skip this Michelin star, you can get through all the others on the list in this world without feeling like you've missed out.

Yelp
Eleven provided an elegant atmosphere and overall great dining experience. We were able to get a reservation for lunch a few days before (recommend trying to book in advance, particularly for dinner), and we really appreciated the venue and service at Eleven. First, the venue was filled with a number of paintings and the restaurant provided you wth a guide on the history of each painting. They rotate the paintings every few years. Second, the restaurant is well-lit with large class windows overlooking the park and monuments. The natural light really brightened the restaurant and added to the ambiance. Third, while a Michelin-recognized restaurant, the restaurant did not over-crowd the space, which helped make the experience feel more personal and intimate. Service was great as each staff member came by and explained the dish on the tasting menu. A sommelier also provided great wine recommendations and the history of each wine. The tasting menu was a modern take on many Portuguese dishes and provided us with a great sampling of seafood, meat, and vegetables. This was our best dining experience in Lisbon (and our visit included several other Michelin-recognized restaurants). We would certainly recommend and go back!

Yelp
This was probably the best lunch of my whole life. I'm a vegetarian, and when I go to fancy restaurants with no vegetarian options--this usually happens only on work meals--I'm always a little excited that maybe it will be one of those places where I can tell them what I eat and they can just make me whatever they want. Because those off-menu meals are usually amazing. They had a few lunch tasting menus and luckily when I asked the server about vegetarian, he just said they'd take care of it - the rest of the table ordered a 7 course lunch, so for the next 3 hours, I was eating course after course of delicious vegetarian food. The root vegetables were particularly delicious, as was the risotto. It's hard to remember what everything was and I'm not sure I even know. Every course was amazing, but the portions were dainty so I left feeling comfortable and not overly full. I'm sure the wine was lovely too, but I was jetlagged and opted for diet coke for fear of passing out in my soup. I don't think my words can really do it justice, so check out the pictures I uploaded. The service was pretty decent, if a bit slow. It was a 7-course, 3-hour lunch (so also probably the longest lunch of my life, honestly). They were all friendly, quiet. I have no idea what it cost because someone else was paying :). I'd maybe take off 1/2 star for slight snootiness (they originally put our party of four at a giant table that could have seated ten, and were a little funny when we wanted to move even thought the restaurant was empty and remained empty during the entire three hours we were there) and bathrooms that were difficult to find and use (all the way up the stairs, then not labeled by gender that I could see so I walked in on a man--though maybe there were two nongendered restrooms? and then couldn't figure out how to turn on the sink water though that could be because I'm a stupid American).

Yelp
Chef Joachim Koepfer shows all his passion for food and for the flavor in his restaurants in Lisboa and Rio de Janeiro. Its a pleasure for the soul for those who love gastronomy to attend the tasting menu! Wines served from his special selection were an outstanding view of Portuguese wines! A definitely must go! We all deserve it!

Yelp
Holy moly this meal was intense. Very accommodating to both my (i don't eat pig or fish.. sue me!) and my girlfriends (nearly lifelong vegetarian) dietary junk! ok now to the intense part... meal was never-ending. ok, so it ended... but took like five hours. And not because they were slow and. it because we were slow. courses kept coming at a relatively steady clip. the gold bars were mental, the wine was great and honestly everything we ate was inventive and interesting and tasty. Definitely worth scoping... don't snack beforehand silly gooses (or is it geese?)!

Yelp
My wife and I went here for dinner on New Year's Eve. They only offered a prix fixe menu, with optional wine pairing. The restaurant was able to accommodate our reservation request on short-notice; they requested that we put a 50% non-refundable deposit to secure our reservation. The oddity about the deposit was that the restaurant only accepted wire transfers via banking institution; coming from the States, we had to work with our local bank to ensure the money was wired to the establishment successfully. What we liked about Eleven? + The space is beautiful; especially if seated at a table adjacent to the floor-ceiling windows providing nice views. + Host staff was very welcoming, friendly and attentive when we arrived as well as when we departed. What could have been better about Eleven? - Food. For a Michelin-star restaurant, the food was good but not memorable nor exceptional. - Service. This is where Eleven falls short. Our entire dining experience felt very impersonal and transactional. For example, we ordered a bottle of wine instead of opting for the wine pairing. Unfortunately it wasn't until after the 2nd course that someone even came by asking if we'd like any drinks. We asked for a recommendation since we're not familiar w/ Portuguese wines. Despite specifying a price point, our "sommelier" came back with a bottle that was far more expensive than our preferred price range. He also demonstrated very minimal knowledge about the wine and winery itself. - Service (Part 2). Service through the first 4 courses was very rushed. There was zero downtime in between the initial courses, as if we were participating in a speed dining competition. Little/no explanation as to what we were being serve in terms of preparation, ingredients, etc. As soon as we finished a course, they cleared our table immediately and had the next course ready for serving. - Service (Part 3). On the flip side, service between courses 5-8 slowed to a crawl. In addition, staff was slow to refill our wine glasses; at one point, we had to inform/remind a server as to which bottle of wine was ours. As with the previous courses, little/no explanation as to what was being served. Prior to our booking we read some of the reviews and had some concerns about whether we had made the right decision in booking a NYE reservation at Eleven. In retrospect we should have gone with our gut feeling and proceeded with our other dining option which was lower-end and a bit touristy. I can imagine Eleven might have been a once-amazing restaurant whose best days may have passed. I think there are better fine dining options in Lisbon where you get a far better experience for the money spent.

Yelp
I wanted to write this review while the anger, frustration, and overall upset feeling was still fresh in my mind. Some context: in the last year, I've eaten at Daniel (NYC) and Kikunoi (Kyoto), both exceptional experiences. I assumed Eleven would be somewhere in the realm of those. My assumption could not have been more incorrect. You know a meal is bad as a foodie when you leave with no photos taken. Michelin must've been bribed to give this place a star. Im on vacation in Lisbon with my fiancé and two friends. We made the reservation months ago and we're excited. Service: Some of the coldest staff I've ever been served by. When we sat down at the table, the champagne cart was wheeled over to us and they asked us if we wanted any. When we said no thank you, the champagne (sommelier I presume) gave us a look and left, instead of just saying "okay great no worries. Can I get you something else?" My friend then asked for a beer. Fifteen minutes later, still no beer. No cocktail menu or people that even asked us. It took about 7 minutes for someone to then come to or table with menus. A brief explanation of how to order was given (choice of fixed prices) and the server left. No introduction, no overview of the dishes, no background on anything. About 5 minutes later, someone came back and asked what we wanted. We asked what they recommended between two of the options. No explanation or opinion given, no overview. At this point, I knew the rest of the meal would go this way. Also, it was cold in the place. We asked to raise the temp but nothing changed. Everyone in the place had at least two layers on. Bread: My fav part of every Michelin resto. Most of it was not good. Not fresh or without flavor. The olive bread was good though. They had 5 types. When I asked for all 5, the bread guy looked at the manager and gave a look. At Daniel in NYC, I was more or less taunted by the extra friendly bread staff to have as much as I wanted in a real fun and warming way. This couldn't have been further from the opposite. Amuse Bouche (2 of them): Both just okay. Not much flavor. One was tuna, other no idea, they didn't explain them. Appetizers: Visually looked nice. On the table we had 3 diff kinds (2 of us did a prix fixe, 2 a la carte). None of the flavors really were fresh and exciting. All just mediocre. Nothing during the entire meal was hot. Not a single thing. Entrees: The beef rib was delicious and the lobster was delicious. Everything else was mediocre. Between every dish: at least 10 minutes. Meal start to finish: 3 solid hours. We didn't dilly dally at all. Desserts: Better than the entrees, but nothing original. Yummy but pretty standard. Verdict: Light $90 on fire for each person you're thinking of going with then go get McDonald's. You'll have more fun, save time, and the good will be more delicious. Or go try Cantinho do Avillez where we tried to go instead as a last minute changeup but they were fully booked. Next time.

Yelp
Eleven was so disappointing. The hostess was very sweet, but the dining experience was sub par. I cannot believe they have a michelin star. The service and food were just average and not worth the hefty price. I am asian and love to take pictures of food, but was so unimpressed by the giant plates with cold little nubs they called food. I was not even tempted to photograph anything. At all. Don't waste your money. I would have preferred to eat the egg tarts and local fare over this pretentious place.

Yelp
Best restaurant in Lisbon. Well deserved Michelin Star. Great service. Beautiful view. Excellent food and wine. We had the tasting menu. Amazing. We have been to several other Michelin Star restaurants. This was excellent. Congratulations to the chef and staff

Yelp
Michelin got this wrong. It should be "No Star" We looked with much anticipation toward our evening at Eleven. Sadly expectations were not met. While the "Gold Bar" foie gras was absolutely delicious with an unbelievable presentation, the rest of our evening was largely a failure. The staff did not engage and create rapport with us or other guests that we observed nearby. Their style was largely indifference. Wine pairings were acceptable but not extraordinary (one selection was clearly bad--not corked or cellar-funk--just of poor quality). Although the sommelier replaced it promptly, he asked no questions so as to assure his next choice would be better. The duck was under-cooked and tough. The lamb was also tough. After finishing the post-dessert, we sat for 20 minutes with no approach from the staff, although our wine and water were both empty. When we finally got the attention of the staff to ask for our check, it took another 10 minutes for it to arrive. Although food presentations were excellent, without great taste and great service, we are sorry we can't cheer for Eleven as we do for Alma and Feitoria, Lisbon's restaurant stars in our book.

Yelp
Firstly, Eleven sat a crying baby at a table next to us. This was very surprising and distracting. They should have turned the table away. Better to upset one table than all the others in the restaurant. Their website says "Eleven only accepts children over 6 years old. We accept children on Saturday lunch." They did not follow this policy and we all suffered for it. (We don't mind children at almost any restaurant, but they are inappropriate in fine dining). We felt the opposite than most of the other reviews here: our service was superb and our food was mediocre. The service was better than most one stars we have been too. It was excellent: precise and warm. The wine service and pairing choices were both good. On the other hand, the food was worse than most one stars. We got the larger of the two tasting menus, which chef recommended. Many dishes had some failing: one was over salted, another was oddly bland, several had dissonant flavors, etc. Ultimately, we were in the very last days of the "summer menu" (we ate in early October) and the ingredients seemed out of date and the dishes felt a little tired.

Yelp
We had a disappointing experience at Eleven. Expected much more from a starred restaurant. Food - One of the dinner guests is vegetarian. We had specifically informed the restaurant about this at the time of our reservation (made a month in advance). The staff seemed to be surprised by this information. The dishes prepared seemed quite uninspired - our server would describe them as - "...And for you, sir, just the same but without the lobster (or other meat)." This was quite disappointing because one of the real joys of eating at such a fine restaurant is to see the creativity of the chefs. Sadly, the menu was not up to expectations. Service - The restaurant took a very look time to respond to our reservation request (and we were almost going to give up on it). Apart from that, the service at the restaurant was wonderful. Our server arranged a special dessert for us after overhearing it was someone's birthday. Conclusion - great service, but the food doesn't meet the expectations of a starred restaurant or the prices. If you are celebrating a special occasion (worthy of a €€€€ budget), I would look elsewhere.

Yelp
This is possibly the best one-starred restaurant I have been to. From a purely gastronomical perspective I would be inclined to think that this establishment is of a much greater standing that its single star would suggest. Each course has been carefully engineered to deliver a unique range of flavours and textures that will awe even the most sophisticated palate. Furthermore, the quality of the ingredients and the creativity with which they are combined is matched by few (at least in this price range). However the devil lies in the details... The service is somewhat below the standards I have come to expect from a Michelin-starred restaurant. For instance, I noticed that there was an unseemly lapse of time between the moment the waiters brought the food to half of the people sitting at a table adjacent to ours and when the second half was catered for. In addition, they brought two dishes in the wrong sequence. Although it is hard to hold that against them as the waiters were extremely nice and smiling, this sort of occurrence certainly stands in the way to a second star. I have rather mixed feelings regarding the setting. On the one hand, I found the decoration to be too generic and lacking personality. On the other hand, the sight makes up for this lack of charm and provide an astounding view of Lisbon. Despite its shortcomings, I still think that this place deserves 5 stars given it provides a best in class gourmet experience at a very low price tag (low 100s without wine)

Yelp
I really never post reviews unless something goes really wrong. And I am going to cut them some slack since I'm on a no carb diet, and the items I ordered are not standards. I ordered a green salad (not on the menu) and it was gritty and when my friend took a bite, a glob of dirt fell onto the table. And I ordered the steak made with Kobe. It was cold, not as in "not hot", but cold, like refrigerator cold. Great flavor and sauce but cold. I don't know what to say, for the money this was not a good dinner.

Yelp
Michaelian star restaurant with beautiful view of Lisbon. nice food presentation with taste combinations. Friendly service. Beautiful art work from the museum.

Yelp
I had high expectations. Eleven was recommended by a nearby high-end luxury hotel. However, the restaurant staff was not responsive to my many reservation requests when calling or emailing. The food and the service (both cold) were nothing special or out of this world, yet the price tag and Michelin star rating from 10 years ago sure made it appear that way. I reserved the private room upstairs with access to the veranda overlooking the park. And yes, the views are to die for. Besides the views, the only thing memorable about my evening at Eleven was the unique restroom signage (door handle) differentiating men vs. women.

Yelp
I was hesitant to keep our reservation after reading some of the reviews but I am so glad we came here. From the moment we entered the restaurant everyone was very warm and welcoming! The sommelier was very knowledgeable and approachable. We ordered the Tasting Menu with the crackling pig. My husband also ordered the wine pairing. I asked the sommelier for recommendations of wine by the glass and his choices were excellent! The wait staff was attentive and personable. The food tasted excellent and the presentation was beautifully and artfully done. I highly recommend this restaurant. A wonderful dining experience with a striking view of Lisbon as a bonus!

Yelp
The park view, clean ambiance, helpful (and viniculturally enthusiastic!) staff and tasty appetizer and pastry make up for a lackluster lamb entree. Ask them to unlock the upstairs cabinet with a century of Michelin guides.

Yelp
Went recently with three chums on a BDO via Squeezyjet from Luton. As the flight was royally messed up by French air traffic controllers, our plan of strolling around Lisbon then retiring for a leisurely lunch was put aside and we had to wander in at 12:20 before the official & booked opening time. We were made welcome. The main dining room is a long room with the length being windows overlooking the 'valley' down into old Lisbon. They are proud of the architecture, which includes a big balcony and strange loos, though I thought it a little brutal. Our table was set next to the window as are most. Much to our relief good english was spoken and no offense taken at its' use. We decided to take items from the full menu as we were there specially. The choices were excellent, and as a nice touch, as the table was prepared for our individual meals, each of us was given a personal menu of what we had asked for. The wine list was excellent, and I was able to start with a great Aussie Riesling before we moved on to Portugal, showing a realistic and useful balance of choices. The Maitre d' took over from the Sommelier who was a little distant after our first choice(! ?) and we built up a great relationship with him. Every dish was excellent, and the whole well staged with a couple of excellent Portugese reds as the meal progressed. Most of the way through our lunch, we were actually outside their opening hours and a chum suggested a short break, so the Maitre d' pointed to a nearby couch and welcomed him for a lie down nap.. Please forgive the lack of detail, but we finally departed around 5:15 with the staff waving us off, having had a splendid time, and feeling even more welcome. An absolute must if time allows when in Lisbon. A stroll all the way down to the old town and waterfront pleasantly finished most of the rest of the day, till the French again unsuccessfully tried to ruin our day. All 23 hours of it in the end.

Yelp
Not suitable for vegetarians. Set vegetarian Menu terrible, insignificant salad, salty soup, hard risotto..for 75 Euros!

Yelp
Never again. First time at this restaurant. Not a good experience. We sat down and immediately I was concerned when I noticed the restaurant was nearly empty. A waiter came to our table and asked us if we wanted drinks. Three of us ordered martinis. The three others wanted wine. So I asked for a wine list. 15 minutes later we finally got our martinis. They we 1/2 glass full. I had earlier asked for some advice on the wine list. The materdee said he would send the sommelier over. Another 15 minutes passed and no sommelier. Finally I asked for a waiter to help me pick a wine, which they did. And it was good. We ordered our food. Very small portions but food was good. Except I asked for medium done on my lamb chop and it came blood rate. Inedible. I waited and waited for a waiter but not a one was to be found. So I ate half and left the rest. This was a bad experience. Service not close to what you would except. I would never, ever go back. Michelin star restaurant? Not even close.

Yelp
The service is simply abysmal and does not warrant a Michelin star. The staff is cold and does not show dignified courtesy. The food is solid - but this place is still a far cry from a truly fantastic restaurant. Price is high for Portugal.

Yelp
Loved it! Michelin starred restaurants are fickle. Some can be disappointing but not Eleven. When we first entered, the staff seemed snooty but very quickly, they warmed up. We had the Business Lunch. Started off with excellent Portuguese champagne. Followed by their recommended house wine. Finished off with Port. Can't complain. It was all excellent! Hope to be back one day to Lisbon & Eleven.

Yelp
Good restaurant in Lisbon. The view is fantastic if you have the chance to sit by the window. The food is very well done. Good wine list. Good and professional service. Everything is good, but nothing is excelent! Too formal and too pricey. Worth a visit.

Yelp
Service was mixed as was the food. There was a long wait to be given the menu despite the restaurant being fairly empty, and then no suggestions from the waitress when a dietary restriction was mentioned beyond letting us know our first choice wouldn't work. Her attitude seemed indifferent. Normally at high end restaurants the serving staff will discuss the details of the menu a bit and ask you your preferences and make suggestions if you aren't sure what to order. The sommelier and waiters bringing the dishes were friendly and attentive though. Several dishes were very good but one was inedible (meat so tough we had to send it back) and in the end we decided to skip desert even though it was included in the tasting menu, something we have never done before. Due to the Michelin star, the prices and our expectations were high. We had two tasting menus at other (non Michelin starred) restaurants during our stay and both had better food and service at a lower price. There is no shortage of world class food in Lisbon so I would suggest going elsewhere if you are looking for an amazing meal.

Yelp
The food was delicious! highly recommended, each course was more inventive and better than the last! but this review is for our server - Rafael - who went above and beyond at every turn. He was so friendly and eager to please. Our only note is that the sommelier, whose recommendations we enjoyed, was quite abrupt. He should take a que from Rafael! Beautiful restaurant and even better service. Thank you!

Yelp
We came here for dinner on New Year's eve and thoroughly enjoyed the tasting menu. The dishes were memorable and delicious (and beautifully presented too), and each contained unusual and unique flavor profiles. The service here was unparalleled. The hostess and servers were all friendly, gracious, and attentive. We felt very welcomed and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would gladly return again next year.
