My mother and I live near Miami, so going to West Palm Beach was a bit of a special trip. I actually recommended a different restaurant, but my mother reminded me of this one, which we had visited on Mother's Day and enjoyed. Since I was craving pasta, we decided to give it another try. Unfortunately, I regret not choosing the other option.
On the plus side, there was no wait, which was nice for a Monday and a holiday. We were seated right away, met our server, and received our first plate, burrata. We had to ask for bread, even though I noticed other tables getting it automatically. The cheese with the bread was good, though.
My mom ordered the pesto lasagna, and I went with the spaghetti carbona. Right away, I regretted my choice. I tried some of my mom's lasagna and liked it more than mine, even though she said she preferred my dish. We ended up swapping plates. The spaghetti carbona had an odd taste, and the lasagna was so overloaded with pesto that it was overwhelming. Oddly, our server didn't ask if we wanted cheese on our dishes, even though I saw them offering cheese to the table in front of us. It's a standard at most Italian places I've been to, so that felt off. I suggested my mom say something about our disappointing plates, but she decided against it. She left all the food on the plate since she didn't like it.
We left, but unfortunately, the story doesn't end there. In the middle of the night, my mom woke me up with food poisoning symptoms, and I felt a slight stomachache myself. Given that we hadn't eaten anything else that day, it had to be from that meal. I'm extremely disappointed with this experience and won't be returning.
