We made a reservation a month in advance, intending to celebrate Valentine's Day. However, due to high demand, the restaurant was fully booked on February 14th, so we opted to dine the following day, February 15th.
The venue is charming, featuring a bar at the entrance and a dining area on the upper floor. The service was attentive and friendly. Among the dishes we tried, the "vegan caviar" stood out for its flavor; undoubtedly, the most memorable part of the evening. It's worth noting that this appetizer is charged separately from the tasting menu. Other dishes, such as the "fermented fennel seed sausage with lime truffle cream" and the "beet tartare," were also enjoyable, though they didn't quite amaze us considering their price. As for the remaining dishes, they didn't leave a lasting impression. Personally, not being a fan of mushrooms, I prefer not to comment on that particular dish.
I find the prices to be high compared to the culinary experience offered. It was especially disappointing to pay $17 for a mocktail; I understand we're in Washington D.C., but I expected quality commensurate with the price. In total, for two tasting menus, a glass of champagne, a non-alcoholic wine, and two mocktails, plus tip, the bill amounted to $440.
In summary, while the ambiance and service were satisfactory, the food and beverage quality did not meet our expectations relative to the cost.
