"Elk Cove vinifies several different grape varieties, including pinot blanc, pinot gris, riesling, and chardonnay, but pinot noirs remain its benchmark production. Guests at the winery can enjoy a flight at the tasting bar, as well as a picnic overlooking the sprawling grounds." - Bryce Wiatrak

This was the perfect plane to take our family visiting from out of the country! They loved the setting, the wine, and our wonderful server Sydney was the highlight! The whole staff was also so kind to our pup, what a delight that they are also dog friendly.

An incredible tasting experience with Patty. The wine is delicious, the views are wonderful, and we will definitely be back. Worth a drive to check out in the Willamette Valley!

We picked Elk Cove as a winery to stop at on our way to the coast for our honeymoon and are so glad we did. We had a great time here from start to finish. We did a tasting of pinot noirs with Gloria who gave us an awesome experience and a wealth of information about the winery and what we were tasting. We really enjoyed the Pinot Noir Reserve and ended up buying a bottle to take with us. The patio and view overlooking the vineyard just can’t be beat. There is also a fairly large indoor space with ample seating if the weather isn’t cooperating. Note that they appeared to be doing some renovations outside but this in no way affected the experience, view, etc. If you’re looking for a great wine experience in the valley, look no further!

As locals, when we are asked what winery is a "must visit", Elk Cove is always our response! The atmosphere, views, tasting room and extremely knowledgable team, along with their incredible and vast array of wines, make this place truly special. We also love that they are 100% estate grown, and their wines and events are very reasonably priced. This place is a true gem in the valley!

What an awesome winery! Shane assisted me with my reservation & he was great; he was super friendly & knowledgable & truly a delight to chat with. The winery is beautiful & the tasting room is comfortable & the tables have lovely views of the vineyard. We tried the Bubbly Tasting, Standard Tasting, Reserve Tasting & Provisional Board & were delighted with everything. The Pinot Noirs were incredible & we purchased a bottle of the Roosevelt. The staff were friendly, very welcoming & knowledgable, the hospitality was incredible & the staff made us feel like they were really happy to have us there:) Our server, Cole, was fantastic! He kept us on schedule as he knew we were visiting another winery. He provided lots of interesting info & facts about the winery & served us at the perfect pace. The other staff were great too, they were more than happy to help with directions & recommendations. Our visit was on a rainy day in the middle of Winter & the winery was still beautiful. The vibe is relaxed & friendly with great wines. They are also dog friendly (patio) & the staff were very sweet with my pup. I would highly recommend this winery. Do yourself a favor & visit this little gem, you’ll be glad you did:) Keep up the great work Elk Cove!

Google
Beautiful winery! Great views. The staff is amazing, going above and beyond to make a very enjoyable experience! I had the sparkling flight, and it was all delicious! Shane was a great host. The woman we met from Houston there (we are from Houston) took a lot of time to chat with us and give us recommendations for Portland, which were much appreciated! My husband enjoyed the wine and bought a couple bottles to ship. Would come back!

Google
This is an absolute must between cannon. Beach and Portland. This gorgeous Winery tasting room sits on top of a hill overlooking sweeping views of various grape clusters. Our host was incredibly generous and made us feel very welcome. You can even walk among the grapes for the perfect insta worthy photo. It was very impressive and well laid out. 100% don't skip this.

Yelp
I recommend Cole as your wine tasting guide. Cole know how to roll if you know what I mean. Great knowledge of Elk Cove Vineyards and very personable presenting all you need to know about wine. He covered the separate soils on the seven individual vineyards. Good wine starts with good soil. Dry farming practices and commitment to organic and biodynamic practices. We tasted that Pinot Noir reserve flights consisting of five wines ranging from years 2014 to 2022. Of all the wines my nose noted the depth of flavor and earthiness in the soil of 2014 reserve wine - due to the fruit pop eroding as wine fermented over time. Overall I like all the Pinot Noir's at Elk Cove - why we visited - because for me I taste the spice and earth in Pinot Noir's. One of my favorite slection of wines for taste and also they do it right with soli management with love and respect, no pesticides - don't panic it's biodynamic!

Yelp
Fantastic service and found my favorite Pinot Gris wine. Will be buying again when ready.

Yelp
I struggled to figure out how to rate this place and thought I'd go with a breakdown by element: Service: 5 Stars. Our server was fantastic! Kohl was super attentive and very knowledgeable about all the wines. We really learned so much about Elk Cove and how their vineyards. Kohl really took lots of time with us and made sure we knew all about each wine we tasted. Wine: 2.5 Stars. My friend and I just didn't really like their wine. Might just be an us problem, but nothing landed for us really in the tasting flight. Grounds: 5 Stars. The grounds were just gorgeous and had so many comfy viewing points. I appreciated the sense of calm yet comfortable softness carried by the wind. I'd say overall a fun place to check out even if it wasn't our favorite for wine.

Patrick B.

Yelp
Wow is not enough. The grounds are beautiful we had a great tasting. We live their Pinot noir. Try the Goodrich or just the regular elk cove Pinot noir. The mount Richmond Pinot noir was full bodied and close to a cab woth the peppery taste but very good. We didn't have a reservation but they made room for us even being down in staff. The buildings are beautiful and well planned to take advantage of the view of the vineyards. They have 400 plus acres spread through out western Oregon south of Portland in yamhill and Willamete and other areas. Gloria our server was running with all the guests but took the time to tell us their story and to make us feel welcome. She was very knowledgeable and really enjoyed the interaction. Ask for her if your there

Jon H.

Yelp
Had never heard of this winery, and stumbled upon it outside of the normal wine tasting season in February. And by stumbling upon it, we also stumbled upon a special champagne tasting that they only do periodically throughout the year. I have to say, we had a great experience! We were, waited on by the tasting room manager, and he was attentive, knowledgeable, and not pretentious. The atmosphere is open and comfortable, and the tasting room sits on top of a hill overlooking the vineyards on four sides. I need to go back and try this in the summer or fall when we can experience the outdoors, a little bit more.the wines were very good and we took a case. I would recommend a visit if you were in a wine tasting mood.

Yelp
We loved our visit to Elk Cove Vineyards. Wow! What a view! The ambiance was beautiful, serene and kid friendly. Wished there were maybe board games or corn hole outside. Prices were a bit high. The Provision Board was very tastefully presented and included a taste of their delicious black currant Dijon. We got the Reserve Flight and the Sparkling Flight. The Parmesan Rosemary popcorn was well worth the $10. Gloria was so kind, knowledgeable and genuinely friendly. Hope we can return soon and experience it all over again!

Yelp
Sorry for such a late review, but if you are following, I am very behind due to my 6/13/22 SF JapanTown incident, see Yelp. Lucky to have complimentary tastings from my daughter's friend. Lucky to invite our Oregon friends to this tasting. Quality/Quantity - My favorite winery on this trip, thank you. Again, just like being in Napa! Estate Flight for $30 or Reserve Flight $45; we did both and shared. Wine club membership available. Atmosphere - Just like being in Napa. Beautiful vineyard setting, see pictures. Full service sit down tastings. Open 7 days a week from 10am to 5pm. Plenty of parking. Indoor and outdoor seating, everyone was indoor due to weather. Lounge area. Retail shop, hours from 10am to 5pm. Service - Excellent. Price - Complimentary tastings, but we spent $$$ on bottles of wines... Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1974, great to see a 5th generation farmer!

Yelp
We pulled up to the vineyard and I imagined it all! Blooming vines, a sunny reflection from the pond, and a few green rolling hillsides. Only it wasn't like that at all lol! It was cloudy, fairly wet, out of season and barenaked vines without leaves. It was a typical cold, cloudy, and rainy April day in Oregon. But when we parked and walked up to the tasting room, all the gloomy weather went away. Time to get my swirl on! So we were warmly greeted by Shelby who checked us in, and let us sit out on the patio with the sun creeping from the clouds. Shelby explained to us a little about the property, as well as facilities, the varieties of their wines, and its sister vineyards in the surrounding area. And what a grand view of the vineyard from the patio. Really calming and picturesque to say the least. It almost felt like I was in Napa all over again. Its just a beautiful property! Then came the wine! We didn't know what to try, so we tried both their Estate Tasting flight and their Reserve Tasting flight; I forget their menu names sorry, but its self explanatory. Our charcuterie board came out and presented to us by Kohl. He also did an awesome job in explaining the cheeses, meats, and what makes a good pairing with our tastings. And boy did we enjoy their wines! The flights were served in the right order as my palate went from 'mmm, to hmm good, to oh wow, to oh man that's smooth, to ugh just perfect'. Their wines speak for themselves! Elk Cove is a vineyard worth visiting. Their wines were so good that we ended up signing up for a membership. From driving up to leaving the grounds, the views from all around are also pretty stunning. I can only imagine the summertime blooms and harvest. Some day when they reopen doing facility tours, we plan to give it a try. The staff seemed to all be receptive and welcoming. But "thank you" to Shelby and Kohl for making our experience here a pleasant and relaxing one. Folks, if you haven't been here, add it to your "Oregon must try vineyard" list. We shall be back!

Lynne A.

Yelp
Stopped in for some Pinot Noir tasting. There were two levels - $25 and $45. Cute place. We sat at a high top table against the window with a view overlooking the vineyard. Vines trimmed back and just started to bud. We decided on the higher end Reserve tasting with a sparkling wine and then 4 Pinots. I enjoyed the Reserve Pinot the best, ended on a fruitier note. The others had a spicy/tobacco finish.

Mitzi B.

Yelp
We love going here for tasting wine. The staff is always on point - giving us information when we want it and giving us time to enjoy the wine and snacks. The popcorn is super yummy. Love, love, love Shane!!!

Yelp
Hey there PNW Yelpers- I'm finally catching up after some much needed downtime & QT with Ron R. @ Elk Cove Tasting room! Half of what makes a tasting room GREAT to visit aside from the obvious quality varietals & product is the people! And 100% BOTH Shelby (General Customer Svcs Mgr) AND Kohl (Tasting Room Associate) gave us 100% Top Shelf Service;) so much so that we became club members right then and there. The tasting room location overlooks part of the vineyards and pond and we sat outside on a rare sunny spring day:) then moved inside once the chill set in. Shelby & Kohl educated us on all things Elk Cove & answered all the questions I had. I fully support wine associates that love the industry in some form or fashion & have a genuinely kind personality. Shelby & Kohl- Thank you for making our day with your welcoming smiles, personable service & vineyard knowledge! Y'all helped keep my low-key Birthday weekend with the husband relaxing, enjoyable and care free with quality flights & provisions! We shall be back!

Yelp
Great destination in the summer. The views are amazing and the wine selection is great. The Rose, I believe it's le Boheme is one of the best bottles I've ever had. Service is always top notch and they even allow kids and dogs. They have cool events like live music, just a beautiful experience overall. Only note I'd add is food selection is small but I don't think they have a kitchen or chef, that would make this place perfect.

Kim G.

Yelp
Elk Cove sits up high and overlooks expansive vineyards and rolling hills; it has one of the most majestic views! As you enter the long driveway and approach the winery, the stunning vistas in every direction take your breath away. Over the years I have enjoyed many varieties of Elk Cove wine. For me, their Pinots are always a sure bet. Elk Cove is one of the first vineyards I visited when I moved to Portland 19 years ago. Recently I spent a late Saturday afternoon here with a friend who was visiting from out of state and other friends who are Club members. We spent time on their large outdoor patio which is just Heavenly. An acquaintance was hosting a birthday party for his wife inside and we ended up crashing or or being invited to join, depending on your perspective! Either way, we were lucky enough to try several wines and enjoy pizza with creative flavor compositions. The wine was exquisite - wish I had taken a pic of the bottle of my fave! My favorite pizza was a Thai style that was basically a salad roll on pizza dough! The spicy peanut sauce took it to the next level! Highly recommend a visit to this gorgeous vineyard! Extend the experience and memories by buying some bottles to take home.

Yelp
We've been members at Elk Cove Vineyards since 2016, visiting during several trips to this area. In 2020, we relocated from Wisconsin to the Portland, OR area and are now only an hour drive from Elk Cove! So we've maintained our membership but now pick up our shipments in person- and we can combine a little wine tasting when picking up our wine! On July 1 my wife and I participated in one of their "Flights & Bites" events- tastings from four different bottles of wine served with a plate of kabobs with four different skewers of tasty bites- each paired with the appropriate wine! Just one example, with their Estate Riesling, the kabob included melon, prosciutto, and mozzarella- delicious! Service has always been top-notch here; we thought our server Alex did an excellent job, and Shane, the Tasting Room Manager stopped by to visit (he's served us several times during the past 2 years), and Sydney, who had taken care of us when we were previously there- about a week ago, also stopped by to greet us- certainly something she didn't have to do. Elk Cove is a beautiful place to visit and to enjoy the scenery while having a little wine. This event was only $10.00 each for members but we also took home six bottles of wine so I think it worked out well for all! We're heading out again in a few weeks for another event they're hosting. My wife and I both highly recommend Elk Cove Vineyards!

Richard L.

Yelp
I had a really wonderful time at the Elk Cove winery. I traveled to Oregon about 20 years ago and could not make it to the Elk Cove, but this August I finally made it there. I am not a wine snob, but I do drink wine fairly regularly. Living in Los Angeles for the past 30 years I am very fond of Paso Robles wines. So for me the Elk Cove wines were a very welcome metamorphosis bringing lively acidity and a very different character from the scorching climate grapes of Paso Robles. The setting around the Elk Cove is genuinely stunning. I also appreciate the winery staff letting me walk the vineyards to take the delight of the scenery and sober up as I was the only driver. Thank you so very much!

Jessica P.

Yelp
We had the best tasting experience today. Cristy was helping us out and gave us a few extra tastes off the list and we were blown away! Loved the Chardonnay (notes of toasted sugar and banana) which is so different from anywhere else we've been. And the pours are substantial so you can take your time sipping through it a few times to really gather your opinion of each wine. Friendly place, super inviting and they have a retail store full of goodies. 12/10 will be back

Amanda B.

Yelp
Elk Cove Vineyard is a hidden gem nestled in rolling hills. The vineyard is stunning and secluded, and a beautiful backdrop for enjoying wine. We enjoyed tastings of their Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and 3 sparkling wines. We spent close to 3 hours there and shared the provisions board which was a tasty mix of meats, cheeses, pickled items, and crackers (gluten free available). We will definitely be returning!

Nick M.

Yelp
Elk Cove was situated in a beautiful setting, with a comfortable patio, friendly servers, a decent cheese plate, and a few notably delicious wines in the tasting flight.

Christine D.

Yelp
I have had their wine many times over the years and even bought some souvenir logo wine glasses years ago when I was at a tasting room in Lincoln City but I had not yet visited their location in town. A nice location and quite full on this partly sunny Sunday. They have expansive outdoor decks when you can enjoy your wine and many people elected to do this on this day. We went inside and were greeted warmly by the staff. They had four to five tastings for a fee (I can't remember the price) but it was offset when we purchased two bottles. They gave us a great two bottle wine bag which I have since used numerous times when shopping in the grocery store. Reuse and recycle I say. With the city of Salem voting out plastic bags for 2019 and charging a fee for paper can the rest of the cities be far behind? Great wine at a decent price. I will definitely be back to enjoy this winery again.

Glayde M.

Yelp
Not sure if I like the grounds/landscape/scenery, the wines, the charcuterie board or the amazing service or the personalized attention despite of the last minute appointment. The Sales Director, Taylor Theis, and our server Sidney, went above and beyond to make our experience unforgettable. I liked the Riesling and the 2017 Pinot Noir, but my favorite wine wasn't on the tasting flight., but we still had a taste of It was a reserve Pinot with an amazing aroma, earthy tones and a hint of currant. Just perfect!

Garrett R.

Yelp
Best winery around. The staff is pleasant and welcoming. Gorgeous views of the countryside. Plenty of options. Love visiting here every year. The tasting room is beautiful and the Charcuterie Boards are lovely.

Connie S.

Yelp
We had our besties from CA visiting us so we made reservations at four wineries for the weekend, Elk Cove being the first on Saturday. Diane was our server and she certainly knew the wines, the local AVA wineries, and the Willamette Valley wine business, as well. It was such a great experience that I joined the wine club and our friends bought six bottles too! All in all, good times had by all!

Mary A.

Yelp
My friend, dog and I stopped in and loved our experience. The tasting room host was very friendly and knowledgeable. The wine was delicious too. We didn't get to sit out on the patio since it was raining, but there are gorgeous views all around.

Jeanne Z.

Yelp
This specific winery was recommended to me by a current wine-club member. Him and his wife have been personal fans of this winery for awhile. It unfortuanately, didn't work to meet up with them at the winery the specific weekend that Ryan and I went, but I"m still glad we got to go and check it out! My husband and I actually rode bikes from the town of Forest Grove out to the winery, it was a nice day for the ride, and the climbing was not overwhelming to get there. Once we did make it to the top, it was very scenic a great Panasonic view of their estate and all the grapes growing at that high elevation. The winery staff was very helpful, informative and friendly. My husband and I were able to arrive before noon, and it luckily was not crowded.....yet. But, by the time we left the estate, it was really crowded in the tasting room! Even when it was crowded, the staff did a great job of being attentive to guests and helpful. I will definitely be back to this place, and I recommend their wines to drink! If you can find them in the store, they make magnificent wines. But, do make a point and go out and visit their estate, it is worth it!!

Kayla D.

Yelp
Mike was amazing! Such a nice guy and very knowledgeable about the area. The wine we had at Elk Cove was great! Definitely recommend the Brut Rose!

Lia W.

Yelp
We had our first wine tasting experience at elk cove and we were SO impressed. It was 11 am on a Tuesday in February so there were no other customers. Since he had the time, the wine educator, Shane, went way above and beyond and explained the process of winemaking to us for two hours as he poured wines to taste, answering all of our questions with such patience and kindness. He was also incredibly knowledgeable and his passion rubbed off on us! On top of having the best server/educator, it was such a pleasant and cozy ambience, with amazing views of the vineyards. We went on to a few more wineries after elk cove and nothing even came close to the wonderful experience we had there.

Jamie M.

Yelp
Beautiful setting. Loved all the wines, both white and red. Charming staff. Definitely visit. (Tastings currently $25, which I could not find posted on their tasting menus.)

Kristen M.

Yelp
They say don't drink and drive. But I drink and write ............... Yelp reviews =) When you think about the state of Oregon, you initially don't think of wine. Probably because Sonoma and Napa Valley in NorCal gets the most attention about vino in the US. After living in Portland for a couple of years, I've discovered that beer and wine are so abundant amongst Oregonians. I've been impressed that there's a vast amount of wineries within the Willamette Valley! My first wine tasting in Oregon was with Elk Cove Vineyards. This winery is about a 20 minute drive from Forest Grove or 40-50 minutes from Portland. Without any expectations, I was completely in awe with the scenery, in love with the wine and overall had a wonderful tasting experience. Elk Cove Vineyards produces handcrafted wines. This family owned, 150-acres, winery is definitely worth a visit if you're doing a wine-tasting event or extravaganza. I came to Elk Cove Vineyards one lovely afternoon for wine tasting for a work-related retreat. Elk Cove had prepared 6 different wines for us to partake in tasting in their private tasting room overlooking the hills of vineyards. We were allowed to bring our own picnic foods (grapes, cheese and crackers from New Seasons) to balance out the tannins and enhance the flavors of the wine we sampled. Wine Tasting Menu for August 2012 *2011 Cochon - Pinot Noir Rosé (a tasting room exclusive!) was my FAVORITE. I can see why this was so popular since it was featured in this year's Cochon 555 - Portland! I do not typically drink Rosé, but I must say, the Pinot Noir blend was quite exceptional. The flavors were so crisp and light, yet not too light that it was watery. This exclusive favorite apparently is sold out in stores and can only be purchased at Elk Cove Vineyards while supplies last! For $15/bottle, I snagged two (one for me and one for a friend). My palette was blown away by this bottle, I had to resist and tell myself I didn't have enough money in my debit card to purchase more =X. *2011 Pinot Gris - again I don't typically drink Pinot Gris due to the high sugar content, but this was another exception! I was tempted to purchase this bottle, but resisted since it was $19/bottle. It would totally be worth the buy if it was payday week! Nonetheless, this was another fave amongst the group of wine tasters. The flavors were quite light and very crisp! *2010 Pinot Noir - Willamette Valley $27/bottle *2009 Pinot Noir - Windhill (a tasting room exclusive) $48/bottle - a bit pricier but had much depth compared to the 2010 *2010 Syrah - Del Rio (a tasting room exclusive) $28/bottle *2010 Riesling Late Harvest (a tasting room exclusive $20/bottle Elk Cove produces an amazing array of wines. The first two I elaborated about were my favorites. Don't get me wrong, all the other ones were just as good, but if you were to put me on the spot, the exclusive Cochon was top notch. Sadly what I fell in love with is quite limited. Elk Cove has their own parking lot. The employees are very nice and helpful. They're can tell you anything and everything you want to know about the winery itself or the products. I wouldn't mind coming back to Elk Cove. It's worth a visit if you're planning on a wine-out weekend. And I consumed two glasses of wine to write this review =)

Laura N.

Yelp
I'd heard great things about Elk Cove, but my expectations were blown out of the water as soon as we turned the corner into the vineyard. I must first pay homage to the BYOF concept. A day of wine tasting can lead to more oyster crackers than I'd like to admit to devouring, but at Elk Cove, you can taste five wines for $5 and then pick your favourite for a full glass and take a stroll down to the gazebo with a bucket of chicken if you so choose. Basically, they encourage folks to lounge around and enjoy not only the wine but the scenery as well - and sitting outside on a patio overlooking the vineyard with a mouthful of cheese and a glass full of wine was ace. I quite enjoyed the single vineyard Windhill Pinot Noir, but the reisling was surprisingly nice, and that's coming from a lover of spicy ass-kicking reds. As for the view... I recommend using the trusty ol' thesaurus and inserting the word "stunning" or "breathtaking" or perhaps "omgholycrapthisplaceisfreakingbeautiful" to give yourself a good idea of what you're in store for.

Tiffany G.

Yelp
Loved our sommelier, Sandy. Super knowledgeable and passionate about wine. Very conversational. He explained that they are a mid-sized distributor of wines when compared to the region. They distribute about 150,000 case per year. The ones we tasted that we liked were only 300 cases a year. Bought two bottles, got a $30 discount! Paid $90 + tax vs. retail $120. Purchased my top favorite and Alex's top favorite. Alex preferred the iron-rich volcanic grape Pinot noir and I preferred the Laurelwood silt Pinot noir. Beautiful scenery, quiet, nice outdoor seating area overlooking vineyards and a nice inside tasting room all nestled up in the hills a little bit away from other wineries. Not a tourist trap with real high quality wines and attention to detail. Definite must do!!!

Randy L.

Yelp
Elk Cove is one of our favorite small wineries in Oregon, maybe number one. Excellent wines (we favor Pinot Noir and Gris, but the rose, riesling and chardonnay are good too). The 2014 single vineyard pinot noir in particular are available now (11/16) and earned 92-94 point scores from Robert Parker, some of the highest in Oregon. (Not cheap, but the prices for wine club members are an excellent Price/Quality ratio.) If you belong to only one wine club in Oregon, this is the winery to join - steep discounts, quality wine, and free tastings for you and your friends, as well as wine club release parties and other special events. But Elk Cove is special for other reasons. It's off the beaten track, near the small town of Gaston high in the Coast Range, with spectacular views across the vineyard. And it has a large outdoor deck with picnic tables from which you can taste, picnic, and enjoy the view on fine days. Add in friendly staff and excellent wines, and it's a winner! (PS - If you want a fun retro breakfast or lunch experience, try the "Screaming Chicken Diner" in nearby Gaston. Good food, cheap, and fun!)

Gayle H.

Yelp
Lovely wines in a beautiful setting - the staff are lovely and they offer perfect support for finding the best selections. I will continue my membership and enjoying visiting during each season. I highly recommend Elk Cove Vineyards as a destination when wine tasting or just for an enjoyable afternoon!

Marcus K.

Yelp
Nice winery with beautiful views of its property. A $10 tasting fee gets you a half dozen or so wines. We had two different Rieslings. One dry and one late harvest with 4% residual sugar (sweet). Also got several pinots. All very good and we bought a half case. Service was super friendly and we learned a bit about the family run winery. The grounds are really nice. Gorgeous roses as you walk up the path. They were just setting up for a wedding planned for later that day. They bring in catering so you can do the wedding and reception right there on the grounds. C'mon out, enjoy the drive to get here, and have some really good wine.

Barbara K.

Yelp
Stopped in with my parents and loved the place!! The venue is BEAUTIFUL! Truly breathtaking views. The wines were fantastic! Loved the whites and the reds and left with a couple of bottles. The best part of the experience was Charlotte. She was so knowledgeable and made us feel like the most important people in the room while balancing multiple groups. I will recommend this winery to everyone I know. If you want a top notch experience in the willamette valley, this is where you should go.

Lisa W.

Yelp
Love the location of this winery. The staff is so friendly and down to earth. It is a lovely escape for a few hours. They are dog friendly too. Love the wine!

Jen K.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful! Delicious wine and great service. Comfortable patio area for tastings. Highly recommend!

Elaine D.

Yelp
Very poor customer service! They give free wine tasting certificates when you have a Wine and Vine Dinner. Then,?they don't honor them.

david c.

Yelp
We went to the winery today. Amazing view, very cool , modern tasting room. The woman who was pouring was great. Highly recommend. We also put this place in our Portland trip music video. Thanks guys. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWTG2sgjVyk

Danielle N.

Yelp
Wow! Amazing hospitality, staff had a passion for Elk Cove wines, wonderful views & outdoor areas and of course the wine! They even let my dog into the tasting room & deck and provided him with a treat and water. The pinot gris and dry Riesling were both beautifully made. Thank you Elk Cove for a wonderful experience!

Mariah P.

Yelp
Very beautiful vineyard!! Wine was delicious and I loved the Riesling!! Enjoyed the charcuterie and cheese board as well as the olives, and Shawn was a great host to my family who is in town from Hawaii

Lindsey R.

Yelp
The wine was amazing. Exceptional service and great hospitality. Definitely will be back.

Paul K.

Yelp
Very nice winery with a convenient wine club where you can get two bottles at a time. Very affordable considering the quality of the wines which is good.

Don B.

Yelp
Elk Cove wines have been part of my liquid diet for many moons, but it was only recently that I had a chance to check out the tasting room at the estate winery itself. This picturesque ridge-top spot offers some gorgeous views of vines and valleys and hills beyond. While it may sit fairly far off the usual path, up near Gaston, it's probably worth a visit to taste the wines alone. The tasting room is not that much to speak of, compared to many of the other longer-term residents of the area. No big fancy chateaus or cool displays that show off the terroir. It's really a fairly basic room with a young tasting room staff. The flights are inexpensive at $5 but they have that annoying policy of not waiving the flight fee with purchase. That always kind of grates on me. Especially since I could probably get the wine cheaper at a local wine store... it doesn't motivate me to make any more purchases at the tasting room unless it's a TR exclusive. The wines to try at Elk Cove are the dry Riesling, the Estate Pinot and if you're in season, the pink. Elk Cove makes an astounding pink wine that's perfect for food pairing. It was the pink that was actually my introduction to Elk Cove many years ago, and since then I've had the chance to sample other wines from their stable. On my recent visit they were, alas, out of the pink so I did pick up a fair-priced bottle of the 09 Pinot, which is a mighty fine wine. At $27, it's a tad more than I'd normally like to spend, but on a quality:price ratio, this wine falls right in the sweet spot. They could probably get away with charging $5 to $10 more for this wine, and many other wineries from Oregon do just that. All in all, I consider these wines to be of high quality and a great representation of the Oregon Pinot style. While I probably won't detour to this specific tasting room often (so many wineries to visit, and not enough character to draw me back) I will continue to enjoy Elk Cove wines for many years. Good stuff!

Yelp
Quality has dropped here. Not worth the drive. The wines they pour are not their best, and the patio is pretty weak. I like elk cove, but then u make the trek way out here and they only offer lame wine. disappointed

Yelp
You might well find yourself surprised at the competitive amounts of beautiful going down in the Oregon wine country, and if you are, then, well, you're probably from out of town. No one behind the counter seemed surprised to find themselves in such pristine surroundings. As I dropped in like a ninja (a tipsy, under-qualified ninja) from out of town, it was easy to kick back and let Elk Cove's latest ease into the taste buds. Of course, one thing that even the semi discerning among us manage to notice is that the Williamette Valley produces a number of Pinot Noirs among its chosen vintages, and I so reveled in the one I threw at my lips here that it was simple to imagine a full afternoon of hoisting glasses hi to the clouds, espousing growing seasons and agricultural wonders the likes of which would no doubt sound from me like a stand up comedian on a Segway...sort of hard to take seriously, really. But the wines themselves don't bear that burden. Nope, that's for the rest of us who peer down into the grass and look for the future. Or, in this case, perhaps a glimpse of a season or two past.

Yelp
I got married here in August and people are still talking about how beautiful everything was! When I was looking for a venue, I just fell in love with the beauty of the vineyard (and this was on a frosty February day). The wedding package included use of the gazebo (after 5pm, once the tasting room closed) and their banquet room. There is also a small bridal room available to use. Though they only allow beer and wine (Elk Cove, of course, which is wonderful) purchased through them, you can bring in your own caterer and other vendors. All of the staff, with the exception of one of the event coordinators, were a delight to work with and helped with a few odd requests. The only reason this isn't a five star review is that the gazebo setup (where the ceremony would take place if you choose to get married there) is a bit strange and the fore mentioned event coordinator (thankfully she was NOT working my wedding). This is something they don't mention to you but it's still manageable. The views more than make up for it though! This is also a fun place to come wine tasting, which I've done on several occasions!

Yelp
LOVE their wines! We have been wine club members here for several years. When you go to Elk Cove you will not taste one bad wine. Every time we have out of town company we make sure to take them here. Elk cove is a must stop in Oregon wine country. They have wine club dinners here 4 times a year and you can choose one to go to as a member. There is no charge to attend and the food is really good. You do have to sign up in advance as space is limited. They also usually have some wines from their library that they break out at the dinners. Yum. They also have other events that are not just wine club member ones. Check them out. The wine club is a good value. It is $65 every 2 months and that includes 2 bottles and shipping anywhere in the U.S. that they can actually ship to by law. Often times you get wine that is valued way above the $65 they charge. You also get wines that are made only for wine club members. They also don't charge tasting fees for up to 4 additional people if you are a wine club member. Nice! They also make a red wine called Condor that they donate all the proceeds to a health clinic in Peru. Its not a pinot but it is delish!! Love that about them! I think you can only purchase it in the tasting room. Kari and Martha are outstanding people that work there! Love them! Kari is the tasting room coordinator and Martha I believe is basically the overall person in charge besides obviously the owners. The wine maker Adam is wow! All of their wines are great. They make good whites also and I am not a white wine kind of girl. They make a ridiculous sparkling white that I adore. It's to good to make mimosas with. Just drink it straight. Don't taint it with OJ. We have taken many friends here and several have joined. As a wine club member you don't get anything for referring others except the satisfaction of knowing they are going to love it every time they get their shipment and possibly think of you. Smile! We have friends who have joined that live in Minnesota, New York and beyond. Occasionally I get a text from them when they receive their shipment, saying hey I got my elk cove, love it! The views are beautiful. It's a great place to also take a picnic lunch to. They have tables on the patio. Just pop open a bottle of their great wine and kick back and relax! I could go on and on about this place. Just try it and you'll see for yourself! You will be raving about it also.

Yelp
The views are unbeliveable here. The deck overlooking the vineyard is spectacular, but sit at the picnic tables across from the parking lot and you get a wonderful view of the Cascade Mountains. The wines are excellent. Pinot Noir's are the big thing in Oregon, but I love their Pinot Gris here. Really wonderful. I have enjoyed a very nice dessert wine made from Viogner grapes called Utilma.

Yelp
Beautiful grounds. Friendly staff. Lovely wine. Great events. My favorite vineyard in the Willamette Valley.
