Unresponsive. I had heard that this was a lovely apartment complex and did a walk-by of the grounds a few weeks ago and it looked well-kept and like a nice place to live. I first reached out to them by calling the number on their website a little over three weeks ago and left a message inquiring about their lease term lengths and if/how they are doing apartment showings with the pandemic (virtually vs in-person). After no callback for two days, I called and left another message. A week later, I was advised to email them instead, and so I did, with my same questions, after another four days of no response, I used the contact form on their website to submit my same query (despite the website not having an SSL security certificate, so who knows who may have been able to intercept whatever I submitted in that form), which boasts a 24-hour response time. 48 hours later and no response (other than the automated "we received your form" notification), I happened upon another contact form on a separate part of their website and filled that one out as well, that was last Thursday.
After another two business days of no response, a friend of mine reached out to a current tenant at the apartments to see if she had any idea as to why they were unresponsive (I was ready to assume everyone in the office was dead), and so this tenant reached out and received (and forward to me) the following response from them, verbatim: "She never applied just fill out a guest card. I emailed her now. If she wants to finish the application and pay the application fee." I checked my email and had the following response (quoting the entire email reply received): "Dear Alexandra, Hi Alexandra, If you want to apply for an apartment you should pic an unit and pay for the application . They go really fast so you should do it ASAP. Sincerely, Marcia Kiplinger"
I still have received no answers to my initial two questions that I left in the voicemail messages, the email and the contact forms (regarding the term lengths and apartment showings), and do not intend to pay an application fee just to get these answers and speak with a person. For all I know, I'll pay the application fee just to find out that their minium term length is 3 years and that they never show apartments even in non-pandemic times.
Quite a disappointment because it did look like a nice, friendly place, and, from what I've heard, this unresponsiveness is relatively new, though may be a sign that if a tenant has a maintenance emergency they won't respond to that either, or if a tenant needs to reach out about a lease issue, same thing. As I responded to their eventual attempt at a response, if they ever revamp their communication procedures, I may be inclined to revisit their listings, should I be looking for a place at such time.
