Yelp
By far the nicest restaurant on Edisto - cloth napkins, full staff, reservation highly suggested, but also casual.
For our last meal on Edisto, we decided to hit up the nicest spot. Located within the Wyndham Ocean Ridge (the company buying up all the property and converting them into mass produced condos and rentals), you drive past the rentals, to the shared parking lot with the golf course and walk up to the large building with outdoor seating, but we wanted indoors. The host will take you to either the banquet or main room, the main room featuring the bar, with some tvs playing sports. We were initially sat at a high thorough fair table, but quickly asked to be moved to the window seat that was open, which made for a better experience.
What is also really nice about Ella & Ollie's is their seasonal changing menu - right now listed are items that weren't there when we went, so I had to pull up the photos to remember what we got.
We started with two appetizers - a seasonal pizza and the goat cheese tart.
-Clam Pie - the seasonal pizza at the time, a white sauce pizza with fresh mozzarella, arugula, olive oil, garlic, and of course clams. This was really tasty, and we had to hold our selves to not inhale it.
-Goat Cheese Tart - basically a savory cheesecake. With cherry chutney, greens, and crostini, a great little snack before the mains.
For mains, we each went our own ways. My sister got the Edisto Seafood Shrimp and Grits (which she pretty much got at every restaurant), my father got the Oyster Skillet, and my mom the Braised Short Ribs. While there were a few options on the menu I wanted, I waited to hear about the specials and got that:
-Grilled Wahoo over Risotto - I wanted seafood on my last meal, but something a bit healthier after all the fried food leading up to it. The grilled wahoo was a dense, meaty fish that went well with the risotto.
We had to get dessert as well and our waitress convinced us on two:
-Cheesecake with Oreo Crush - She pointed out a lot of people are confused by the Oreo crust rather than graham cracker, and it was fine. But it was completely overshadowed by...
-Charleston Chewy - their version of the blondie, served a la mode. It was fantastic - dense but moist, full of flavor. We inhaled this.
Our waitress was great, sadly have forgotten her name at this point, but she was working a large section, kept us up to speed with our order, checked in, and made sure we were covered. Also took the family shot.
I can highly recommend Ella & Ollie's if looking for something a bit nicer, but still casual.
