Ella's Wood Fired Kitchen

I had dinner at the bar. Pizza, a couple of drinks and the tiramisu. Only reason I gave the food four stars instead of five is because I’m a tiramisu snob. Otherwise everything was great. The place reminds me of a typical neighborhood bar. Laid back atmosphere, friendly staff, and great beer. The place is also very clean and attracts a pretty diverse crowd. Bartender and other staff were attentive and really nice. I’ve had a streak of bad luck with bartenders who were mechanical and cold. I tended bar for six year and I understand that sometimes the bartender is just having an off day, but a lot of them just lacked the initiative. The staff at Ella’s were all great. Friendly and engaging. The pizza is great. Traditional wood fire oven pizza. Right amount of sauce, cheese and toppings. I highly recommend this place!

Highly recommend While in DC to visit Fords Theatre, decided to give Ella's a try. We didn't have reservations, which I would suggest, but luckily were able to get a seat. Service: perfect. Everyone was friendly and attentive. The staff seemed to work well as a team Food: delicious. From the app, to Ceasar salad, then pizza and Pollo Alfredo. My wife and I enjoyed every bit! Pizza was light, with a perfect crunch

Nice spot to have boost your energy with well known food. The peculiarity is that they cook on wood. Pizza 🍕 could be a good choice for smart money

5 stars all across because everything was!!! From the time our family entered, we were greeted & accepted wonderfully… And tended to throughout our entire dining. We loved the atmosphere, and our waiter was absolutely great, even when we requested a substitute round of wings, because the first were small. Truly hit the spot! Would have hung around longer if we had more time. Highly recommend & will definitely return with friends as soon as we can!!

Good pizza - check; pasta - check; beer - check. Ticks all the boxes for a pizza pasta joint. Wood fired creates nice leoparding of the crust. Note, pepperoni had a nice kick to it.

First time experience was last week. Upon, entering quite interesting there was open tables, and we were seated after being asked about reservations!! I find it to be a bit bias towards my ethnicity matter of my opinion. We was waited on , it the appetizer was served warm, Brussel sprouts where mediocre, too much mint and lemon zest. Lastly, the ambience is nice far as decor , we where seated by the door so a lot of traffic. I find it interesting a lot of other guest was attended to constantly not us. Again, matter of observation, and due to the high level of ethnic guest we saw being catered to. The pizza was ok not enough cheese it was spotted covered in certain areas. Not sure if we will visit again, unless it’s to see if that was just a first time not so pleasant experience. Sometimes I guess it’s a hit or miss. The pepperoni pizza was too spicy burnt in some areas.

If you are in downtown DC, this should be your go to spot for Italian. The food is on par with the best Italian restaurants I’ve ever been to and is fairly priced.

My daughter and I ate here before a concert and we had a wonderful time! The food was delicious and the wait staff could not have been nicer. Found the prices reasonable for the area and the quality of the food. Not high end but perfect for a quick bite before an event at Cap Arena. (Especially important with picky kids! My daughter had the chicken strips and garlic fries, both which were awesome. I had the orange & strawberry goat cheese salad and loved it on a hot day!)
