This restaurant is built into the space of a former bicycle shop in Braelinn Village. It seemed to take a long time to open - at one point, we started trying to guess when it would be finished. My first guess was Valentine's Day...and then St. Patrick's Day...Memorial Day?...July 4?...Finally (I think) it opened at the end of July. As it is/was the hot new restaurant, it was hard to get reservation here, at least on a weekend. I finally just reserved a month or so out and got one for a weekend in later September.
We arrived before 6 p.m. They were on a fairly tight schedule, so we had to wait 5 minutes or so for the table to free up. The interior is all hard wood and polished concrete, so it is LOUD.
Our server was friendly and efficient. We placed our drink orders and got our initial appetizer plates and silverware. I'm not an extreme germaphobe, but I was slightly put off by both my fork *and* plate having food residue on them. If it was just one, I'd have let it slide.
We place our order and waited a while. The place was very crowded, so I wasn't surprised that we had to wait a bit for the food. It wasn't excessive, but just be aware. Once the food arrived, we both enjoyed our meals. I wasn't a huge fan of how the fried okra was done (whole okra rather than being cut into bite-sized pieces prior to breading / frying).. Everything (steak / fish) was tasty.
This place seems to be following a recent trend of places that are not really quite "fine dining" but approach the prices of fine dining. I have noted several places like this in the last year. I'm not sure whether to say it is slightly over-priced or slightly under-atmosphered. The bottom line, though, is that if I'm going to pay prices in this range, I'll just go ahead and do the full fine dining thing.
There were definitely things to like about dining here, but I'm doubtful that this will become a regular venue for us.
