City Tap House Review - Center City - Philadelphia - The Infatuation
"City Tap House is an ideal spot to watch a game that wins on crowd alone. It has an enormous dining room, tons of beers on tap, and a bunch of TVs. It’s a staple for the Center Center post work crowd, and no matter what’s on, there’s always a big group of people staring intently at a TV while blindly feeling around the table for a rogue wing." - Candis R. One of the best spaces in new haven, lots of seating, the architecture in this place is really amazing the bartenders are really friendly so were the promoters, the only thing it's missing somebody to stand behind it and do good advertising and get a good DJ... this place can be one of the best bars and nightclubs in New Haven

SLEAZY PLACE THAT OVERCHARGES. They tried to charge me $9 more than what I should have paid -- They tried to add an extra 0 to the tip I left on my card. Typical of an overpriced bar trying to take advantage of people drinking who might not remember what they purchased.
Vibe was weird... DJ was subpar and didn't really play anything good. It was dirty and people barely danced. Definitely not worth paying cover for. Card minimum is $10, which is probably their attempt to make up the difference since most drinks seem to range from$6-8. Buy with a friend. Closing was incredibly abrupt and they kicked everyone out a solid 15 minutes before they actually closed.
Between all that and their attempt to overcharge me, we definitely won't be back.

Why on earth was this bar a ghost town on an otherwise busy Friday night in New Haven?! The style and space alone make it worthy of a stopover, and the cocktails were well-made and reasonably priced. I think some other reviews made mention of poor service, but I saw no intimation of this as a possibility. The bartender was personable and handled our large group very well. I think people avoid this place because it has a bad rap, but they're missing out on a gem because of a few negative reviews. Do yourself a favor and try one drink. You won't be disappointed.

Service is subpar, definitely lower class than the previous “Vanity” atmosphere. Bouncers are terrible… harass you at the front door. Was kicked out for simply watching my friends girlfriend by the bathroom. Will never visit again.

Incredibly rude service. Matt, the bartender, was aggressive and confrontational. The manager/owner was nice and tried to smooth things over, but it didn't make up for Matt's behavior. The place was nearly empty on a Saturday night.

Loved the atmosphere and it's my place during summer and fall.

Last call at 12:30, kicked out at 12:40. No time to drink your drink. The customer service is awful. If you want a night out, go to BAR. No reason to come here.

The security guard didn't let me go in because he wanted me to pick up a cup that someone else through on the ground. That is ridiculous I will never go there again!!!

Yelp
Now being presented as "144 Temple" this bar is horrible. The staff is rude, bouncers seem to think their job is tough and they're mean to guests, females included. Cover is always $10, never worth it. Do not go here if you're looking to have a good night in New Haven. Bar, Via, or Olive & oil is a better choice!!

Yelp
For a place that calls itself a taphouse, they don't have many beers on tap and the ones they do have on tap, you can get pretty much anywhere. The vibe is very different...it is set up like a club kind of but there's also carpeting in a lot of places where you wouldn't normally want carpet. The pool tables can't be used because they're moldy and the floor seems to always be really sticky so that's off putting. The bartenders are nice, but I would rather go to literally any other bar to have a good beer and clean atmosphere.

Yelp
I am not sure where to begin. The service here is absolute trash . Not only is the cover asinine, but the drinks are so watered down you're better off sitting at home with a bottle of Voss water for $25. Additionally, the bar tenders are nasty and rude and are of no assistance for paying customers to purchase a drink. The best part.. My friends and I go to grab our coats and where in the coat area for 30 seconds to be yelled at by one of the bouncers. The bouncer was screaming so loud and close to my face "GET THE FU** OUT OF THE COAT AREA" that he was spitting on me. Not only will I NEVER come to vanity or "Elm City Taphouse (more like trash house)" but hope that they get closed down for a second time.

Yelp
Came to the club portion of this establishment "vanity" which shows "closed permanently " online for a very good reason. Only came for a birthday party unfortunately it was here. My first time at this establishment and most definitely my last. The watered down "well"drinks were an absolute joke first of all. It's one thing to have weak drinks but it would be nice to have the standard 1.5oz at least for a mix drink. Coming from a bar scene I expected more to be honest. After paying to enter and receiving unsatisfactory drinks we decided to leave. As my 3 friends and myself were heading to the coat rack to get our coats we were screamed at by the door man to "hurry up and grab our f****** coats" we move to the side to put our coats on in an unoccupied area to the side of the door and call our Uber. The door man continued to scream saying we need to "get the f*** out, right now" as we stand there causing no problems paying customers with a wide open area. Please note the temperature is 29 degrees currently so waiting outside seems unwelcoming to say the least. I was honestly expecting much more from this establishment and I am very disappointed and will probably not be returning. I have been to many clubs and bars and have never been treated with such disrespect from a door man. Not acceptably for any establishment especially an "upscale " place such as this. Probably wouldn't recommend and definitely needs to reconsider there staff. Customer satisfaction is a huge factor this day In age and can make or break a place.
