All the New Orleans-Area Restaurants That Closed in Summer 2021 - Eater New Orleans

"All signs point to delightful Riverbend restaurant La Mansion having closed permanently recently — it’s Google Business listing says as much, it’s marked closed on Yelp; and no one’s answered the phone in for a few weeks (email inquiries have also gone unanswered)." - Clair Lorell

Elms Mansion was the perfect venue for our wedding—it truly felt like a dream. From the stunning architecture and lush garden spaces to the romantic, historic ambiance, every corner of the property offered beauty and charm. It was everything we hoped for and more. A huge part of what made our experience so seamless and special was Jessica, who was absolutely incredible to work with. She was responsive, kind, and always a step ahead in making sure every detail was covered. From our very first walk-through to the final moments of our reception, Jessica made us feel supported and cared for. She worked effortlessly with our planning team and vendors, and we could truly relax knowing everything was in such capable hands. And we have to mention the food—it was absolutely phenomenal! Our guests are still talking about how delicious everything was, from the passed hors d’oeuvres to the main dishes. It was elegant, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The culinary experience added another layer of excellence to an already unforgettable day. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the venue—how magical it felt, how beautiful the spaces were, and how smoothly everything flowed. Elms Mansion gave us a timeless New Orleans wedding with elegance, warmth, and just the right amount of grandeur. We couldn’t recommend this venue more highly. If you’re looking for a space that’s both breathtaking and supported by a top-notch team, Elms Mansion—and especially Jessica—is it.

Elms Mansion is one of those venues that just feels special. The historic architecture, wraparound porch, and garden space out back give it this old-school Southern charm that’s hard to beat. We've photographed weddings here with both indoor and outdoor setups, and it always delivers. Whether you're tucked inside under the chandeliers or partying in the garden with string lights overhead, it feels timeless without being stuffy.

Our daughter and son in law were married here this past weekend and I really can’t imagine a more perfect night. Jessica’s attention to detail and customer service truly makes you feel like you are the only bride she is currently working with. They handled everything with our wedding planner and day of coordinator, yet made us feel as if we were involved every step of the way. There is not enough things that I could write in a review to truly say how unbelievable our experience was. There was not one single food item that wasn’t delicious, the drinks were on point and both the inside and outside decor is very hard to be topped within the city. We had many outside vendors including a DJ, a second line band, a bakery, two different florists, creole creamery for ice cream— and everyone of them had such an effortless experience with Elms Mansion to make every one of our daughters’ dreams come true. The communication is always there, you never felt like you were asking too many questions, and every expectation was not only met but exceeded. The picture below truly shows how much of an amazing experience that we had! Jessica is the absolute best!

The Elms is the best venue around! Food, drinks, and service were elite! Jess and the staff at the Elms are the friendliest, most helpful, group of people. Their professionalism was top notch and no detail was too small for them. My guests raved about the food and the experience in general.

Google
OMG This venue is incredible. We looked at 10 different places and this was the last one, and it had everything we wanted. Open space for a big wedding, different spaces to host the ceremony, reception and after party, and everything you'd want to have a proper NOLA party. We used the upstairs for the bridal party so we had our own space to change and get ready, the downstairs bar room was AMAZING for cocktail hour right after the ceremony for people to walk in and see the food and then walk back into the outdoor patio. It was also fantastic for late night afterparty after the noise ordinance kicked in where a DJ lit up the night. The outside was absolutely gorgeous too for most of the fun. But most of all, the Elms staff were so kind, positive, happy to help, and everyone seemed to want to be there and want to help whenever someone needed something, which I feel like is hard to come by in this industry. I also asked our guests to send my mom texts of the night because she was just diagnosed with leukemia and couldn't make my wedding, and Jess took over 100 pictures throughout the day and sent them to her!! SO above and beyond and it really meant so much to me and my mom. It was literally perfect in every way and couldn't imagine our amazing day anywhere else.

LOVE doing wedding flowers at the Elms, they're incredibly helpful and their staff is amazing. Seriously one of the most gorgeous courtyards in New Orleans. And what's better than being on St Charles?

Yelp
Our son's wedding was this past weekend at Elm's Mansion. To say it was sensational would be underselling it. The venue setting, the service from Jess & her team, the food were all over the top. We had more than 200 guests from 20 different states and when I say everyone had a great experience, I mean GREAT. A high percentage of people were from New York/New Jersey and they never stopped coming up to me to say "we have been to so many weddings at some of the highest-end venues, but this is Best.Wedding.Ever." I have always taught my twin boys that one secret to a happy life is to temper your expectations in order to minimize your disappointments. However, after our tasting visit last August my expectations for this wedding were incredibly high. I told everyone it was going to be both special and magical. Truth is I wasn't even close - the experience blew me away. I told Jess that Elms Mansion had created a memory that will last for so many of our lifetimes. If you are considering a New Orleans wedding, do not look any further than Elms Mansion. I assure you that Jess and your team will make all your dreams come true. Jon

Yelp
I was invited to my friends wedding which she held here at Elms Mansion. I must have driven and biked past this place 100s of times when I lived in NOLA and never noticed. The mansion is absolutely beautiful inside with an amazing court yard on the outside. It is perfect for an out door wedding. *AMIBANCE* What I loved was the amazing courtyard which was relatively COVID safe and large enough to hold 50-100 guests. It was even big enough to have a small second line with all of the guests. The mansion inside is quite large and as multiple rooms including a very large bar. Each room is very unique with a different color scheme which I loved. All wood and old fashion inside. *THE FOOD* Traditional southern style which I loved. Not sure if the wedding party specifically picked that or if that is what elms mansion offers but I loved it. There was so much food options from a gumbo, etouffee and Jambalaya table at the entrance. They also had a cheese, appetizer table and a different room with meats and prime rib. So good! *SERVICE* excellent. The bartenders, severs and hosts were all excellent. They were so friendly and the wedding seemed very organized. Overall, if I were going to get married in New Orleans, I would definitely recommend this place. It was such a beautiful wedding with amazing food and excellent staff.

Yelp
We came here for my friends wedding and it was absolutely spectacular! Such a beautiful venue for a magical evening! I'm not sure if the catering is in-house, but it was great and all of the staff at the event were lovely.

Yelp
You know a venue is magical when upon arrival, you start envisioning your wedding there and 1) you're not in a relationship and 2) you have ZERO plans of ever having another wedding again after divorce. Whew! I digress. LOL. But seriously, this place makes you reimagine the fairytale. The service was extraordinary, the food was excellent, the bartenders were amazing, and the band was cool. I highly recommend this place to anyone hosting an event, especially at night, for that "wow" factor.

Yelp
Had my wedding reception and a Christmas party at this beautiful mansion. Love the rich history! Hoping that it becomes a family tradition and that my children get married here, too. Staff was awesome! Food tasted great.

Yelp
I attended a wedding here and the experience was top notch from beginning to end. This is a lovely mansion on St. Charles Avenue and I just love the idea of being able to hear the rumbling of the streetcar during any event you have here. I think that it adds a nice New Orleans touch to the festivities. The wedding and reception were both in the Elms Garden, which was beautifully decorated. The wedding itself was lovely with the bride and groom exchanging vows under a gazebo. Chairs were arranged nicely, so that the guests didn't feel piled on top of each other and after the ceremony ended, the bar was open and the garden was transformed into a lovely reception area. As if by magic, the chairs were whisked away and replaced by multiple tables. I was impressed that the food was setup and ready to go immediately after the ceremony, and there was no wait. Speaking of the food, it was all amazing. We enjoyed turkey and stuffing with gravy, assorted cheeses, grape leaves, brussel sprouts, salmon and passed food such as crab, frogs legs, meat pies, pâté, escargot, sausage and much more. The food seemed to never stop and it was all excellent. I also liked that when the cake was cut, they passed around cake to all the guests so that we didn't have to worry about going and looking for it. They also had other desserts such as cheesecake and chocolate covered strawberries. Yum! I loved the lighting on the dance floor area and there was a lot of space so that people could move around and have a good time. The staff was fantastic at clearing plates and glasses as soon as we were finished and keeping everything neat. I had a fantastic time at the wedding and Elms Mansion was a wonderful venue for it, especially on a mild Autumn night.

Yelp
This mansion is like taking a step back in time. The mansion is beautifully decorated to match its beautiful architecture and craftsmanship. The outdoor patio was incredibly charming and so was the staff. My favorite eats here were the hand carved Turkey, dressing with gravy. The boudin balls and oyster bakes were delicious too.

Yelp
Beautiful mansion location for events. The manager was very crabby to her staff she publicly snapped at her employees. The brunch event we attended was very nice and well put together for banquet food it was very well done.

Yelp
If you are thinking of this venue save your money. Go somewhere else for the amount of money spent they treated people disrespectfully. Servers did not even put water on the table. Food was disgusting. It took forever to get any service. There service was poor.

Yelp
Well here's my follow-up regarding my daughter's recent wedding on 2/27/16. All I can say is this place delivered exactly what was agreed upon. We met with Faith the day of rehearsal and it was good to be remembered by her (such a gracious lady) and on the BIG day Judy was everything a mother-of-the-bride could hope for. First, the place was just fabulously decorated and it was super clean (even met my neat freak expectations). Secondly, the wedding ceremony went smooth as silk and lastly, the food was phenomenal especially the salmon and frog legs...It was my first experience tasting frog legs and boy did they taste exquisite. Thank you Elms Mansion for making my daughter's wedding sheer delightful and your wait staff was greatly appreciated in every respect of the word. Love you guys so much

Yelp
Amazing historic venue on St. Charles Avenue. Staff is great and very attentive. I have attended numerous events here over the years and have always been impressed. Jess and Judy are very easy to work with and go above and beyond. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I wanted to be sure to give them a review as soon as I could while everything was still fresh. Just got married on 2/27/16. Yelpers let me tell you...the wedding was amazing. The compliments I received from my guests about this venue were only ones of praise and excitement. I went to school in New Orleans for 8 years and decided I wanted to get married there since my husband is from there. Fortunately I already knew what I wanted as a bride (I believe all women have been subconsciously planning their wedding since they were like 6 years old lol) so once I saw this venue I knew it was it. Perfect if you want a southern style wedding, in a historic mansion on St. Charles. Perfect if you want to keep the ceremony and reception in the same location. Perfect if you are planning a wedding from out of town. Perfect if you want an intimate yet luxurious setting. Perfect if you want something g that is organized and on schedule. The food was good and the bartenders aren't stingy. Also, I will like to correct those who have said Judy is "unfriendly." Negative. She is just straight forward and she knows what she's talking about. I can see one easily mistaking her demeanor for rudeness. This is not the case so don't take anything personal. Overall a one of a kind experience that you will only have at The Elm's.

Yelp
I recently attended a wedding here. Really interesting venue in an old mansion. So much interesting random art on the walls -- a carved wooden crucifix! A slightly scandalous Art Nouveau lady! An oil portrait of a man with the largest pocket square ever!!!!! Food was darn good, ladies bathroom was tres elegant, and the staff seemed to have everything down really well. My only regret was that the rainy weather kept us from experiencing the beautiful grounds.

Yelp
Beautiful venue for a wedding! I attended my friend's nuptials in February and was really impressed. The wedding took place outdoors, where it was a bit windy at first, but the sun was shining and soon the weather was perfect! I particularly loved the food setup. Instead of a typical buffet, the delicious appetizers were served by wandering servers and at various stations throughout the house. The noise of the trolley was a little annoying at first, but soon you get used to it and hey, this is New Orleans so noise is part of the experience.

Yelp
Beautiful venue. Good food. Attended a wedding here and was pushed off the patio into the pouring rain by Judy after it was all done.. while we were waiting for taxis. Judy told us we needed to get off the patio bc our time was up and was extremely rude. Never asked if she could help us call a cab or figure a way to get home. Not a fun way to end the night.

Yelp
Awesome venue for corporate or wedding parties. Staff is amazing and will teach you all the house's history. Indoor, outdoor or both, it doesn't get much better than this. You can also reserve a private rail car with jazz trio can drop you at the front door.

Yelp
I got married at the Elm's Mansion in March 2009. It was amazing and beautiful! The staff there are so sweet and helpful and Faith runs a tight ship. She knows what she is doing and I basically left most everything in her hands. I didn't have a wedding coordinator and frankly, didn't need one! They can help you with everything from flowers to DJ's. I had people coming from Mississippi, Texas, Arkansas and California and they all raved about the Cajun cuisine! I can't thank them enough for a perfect wedding day. And after looking all over San Francisco and Los Angeles for a place to get married, not only was the Elm's Mansion in New Orleans more special - but was a heck of a deal for a girl on a budget!

Yelp
I contacted Elms Mansion to determine availability of their gazebo for a small wedding to include only my husband and I. We were eloping. I spoke to Judy the owner and she was so rude it was unbelievable. She talked about how she had plans to go away for the Thanksgiving holiday and she could not plan a wedding under such short notice. She seemed so angry with the fact that I was simply making an inquiry. If Elms Mansion is not available, then it is not available but there was no reason to be so rude and abrasive in speaking to me. Judy's attitude was ready bad and unprofessional which is odd given that the Mansion is used for weddings and you would think she would be more sensitive with a softer touch. Needless to say I did not have my wedding there and I was able to find a much nicer venue but if you are considering Elms Mansion, beware.
