Beautiful theater efficient polite staff members the room was perfectly balanced for sound it was very clear I couldn’t have asked for a better concert! The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - WOW! so many childhood memories as well as my adulthood - thank you for a great experience

Absolutely stunning venue. Hard to know who’s fault but the acoustics were not well planned for the event I attended. Rough to hear them talk. Just probably not planned well. Staff was super nice and helpful. Front door smelled like pee.

Went to Vivaldi's Four Seasons with my wife and friends. Super fun space with a mix of ornate and beautiful and also renovated and modern in the front. I'd definitely come back. Small, but great space for the right performances.

Beautiful theater coming up on its 100-year anniversary next year. Will definitely pay attention to events on the calendar - great venue for live performances! We saw the Glenn Miller Orchestra and it was fantastic!

Love this historic venue, even with the smaller, older chairs. We got a behind the scenes tour (see pics) where the Organist put on quite the show and his son played for us as well. Epic! The stained glass windows are pretty cool and locally sourced. From their website: "Since its completion, The Elsinore Theatre has attracted audiences from across the region to rich entertainment. Silent cinema, vaudeville, drama, Mickey Mouse Club meetings, big-production dance shows, talkies, music, and community events — all shared this stage; extending our reputation for quality. After too many years languishing as a mere movie palace, The Elsinore has reclaimed its rightful place as the cultural and artistic Center of Salem."

Seeing the Oregon symphony play Vivaldi’s Four Seasons was a visual and auditory treat, even sitting on the far side. Overall a great experience in a beautiful theater with a very friendly staff, thank you!

We attended a Steven Curtis Chapman concert here. The architecture is absolutely stunning! The acoustics were perfect for an acoustical concert. The staff were all friendly and seemed happy. I will definitely come to more shows here.

Beautiful building! It's 99 yrs old and in pretty good condition. We went there to see comedian Matt Mathews. (He's HILARIOUS) The layout of the front entrance, concessions, and where they set the merch table up made it a bit chaotic. The line for the merch table had to go up the stair case. The show went great. The meet and greet after the show was a bit chaotic! It didn't seem planned out very well at all. For the money we paid, it should have been much better. The staff were very friendly and helpful even though they weren't all aware of how we were supposed to get our VIP passes to go to the meet and greet. Something that the establishment could do is buy the staff new shirts! Their current shirts are not in great condition. Besides looking like they are all coaches or something.

Yelp
Cute little theatre with ample parking on the cross street. We went for the Blippi live show and it was a fairly sizable but at the same time intimidate space.

Yelp
Classic old theatre with plenty of character. Despite its age, the main floor is wheelchair accessible and there are accessible restrooms available. Parking is on the street and not the easiest to find so arrive early.

Yelp
Absolutely gorgeous theater! I drove down from a Portland to see a comedy show in July 2023. I got their pretty early, and got one of the last spots in the parking garage that was listed on the theaters website. If you're not there early, parking seems like it will be a pain, so make sure to leave enough time! But this comes with the territory in an area with mostly street parking. As for the actual theater, it was incredible. The art on the walls was super cool, and the inside where the state was was beautiful. The sound was pretty good, too. The seats were tight, but roomier than most other theaters I have been it. The seats are also set up between the people in front of you, so you can still see the stage without heads blocking you. I didn't use the restroom, but the rest of the theater including the lobby and the seating areas were very clean. Most of the employees were very nice as well. The people checking bags and tickets were great. The only one I didn't have the best experience with was someone stationed on the mezz level. I went up the stairs and while I assumed the top was the balcony (where my seat was) it looked as if it was closed off. So I asked the women ushering on the mezz level how I got up there and talked to me like I was stupid, and finished with "I don't know how to get up there." Like...what do you mean you don't know how to get up there? I just left and walked up the stairs to where it's blocked off and someone saw me looking confused and told me it's ok to come up. The gentleman that took me to my seat on the balcony was so sweet and treated everyone so nicely. I kind of felt bad for him that he has to sit thru the comedy show as the comedian is pretty inappropriate and says some pretty fu**ed up things, the usher seemed pretty uncomfortable. Overall this theater was pretty cool and I would definitely come back for another show here! Just knocked off a star for the usher that was rude and didn't know how to get to the next floor.

Yelp
The Elsinore Theatre is truly a one kind of a venue in the heart of downtown Salem and has stood the test of time. Currently in it's 95th year, it is one of the oldest operating businesses in the city and has maintained a steady level of programming in recent years. The theatre has had a pretty rough go around over the last century. It started off as prominent venue and eventually became so underutilized and dated that it was slated for demolition several times in the last 6 decades. After changing hands in ownership multiple times over the years, it was finally bought out by a private group (#SaveTheElsinore) and was restored about 15 years ago to its current glory. From movie screenings to live entertainment, there's really never a dull moment at this theatre. There have been many quality acts to pass through over the years and with the renovation, it has also doubled as a special events venue. It has been rightfully tagged as a historical venue that is a must visit for any local and/or tourist.

Yelp
Beautiful theater space with gorgeous tapestries and facades. Catch a show here when you can - it's a breathtaking space!

Yelp
The Elsinore is a beautiful theater and as a Salemite I am so happy they are bringing it back to its former glory. I remember watching movies here as a teenager. The sound is good, and the main floor seating looks fine...BUT! We bought tickets to Nitty Gritty and we're in the balcony seats (row m) and have to say they should warn people about those seats. They are too close and uncomfortable. If there was a program I really want to see and those upper balcony seats were all that's left I would pass. They need to take out a few rows to make this theater better, and I know they are reviving it so I hope they take note, and parking is confusing.

Yelp
While the theater is absolutely beautiful, I wanted to write a review about the employees/volunteers at this theater. Their customer service is absolutely amazing. If I could give 10 stars, I would. I had tickets to a concert and somehow the seating on my tickets was messed up (either through the website where I bought the tickets in pre-pandemic times or my own wrong doing) which would've not let my husband and I sit together, but the team at the Elsinore went above and beyond to find us two empty seats in a sold out theater so we were still able to sit together. Big plus: the seats were even better than the ones I originally purchased. People of the Elsinore: you are true gems!

Yelp
A beautiful theatre with reasonable acoustics and lots of restaurants all around. Seats are a bit tight.

Yelp
What a beautiful theatre. The sound is amazing. The ticket prices and ease of buying them is pretty fair as well. I would love to see more big headliners come to Salem. I'll definitely come back.

Yelp
Went to see a concert here last week...what a beautiful venue! The lobby itself is gorgeous. There was a bar area that served sodas, beer, and wine (Riesling, rose, and merlot) as soon as we came through the front entrance. The staff was friendly and shared a bit about the history of the theatre as they were serving our drinks. The seating inside the theatre was comfortable, and it seemed regardless of where you were seated, you had a great view of the stage. We felt like we were at an intimate gathering rather than a concert. And, there were plenty of restrooms available which is always a good thing when you're at a concert! We will definitely return for another event.

Yelp
The Elsinore Theatre. I have attended a number of performances in this Tudor Gothic survivor from the 20's ... 1920's ... and am always surprised by the quality of the space, and the quantity of the performances. It is certainly a great little theater, and Salem is lucky to have it. And my thanks to the efforts of the dozens of hard working and committed volunteers, without whom the Elsinore couldn't survive. I keep promising myself I will attend one of their famous Wurlitzer theatre organ tours / recitals. Maybe this year?

Yelp
One of my favorite places. I have alot of memories here. It's not a regular movie theater anymore. They do have some special showings now and again. There is a stage for theatrical or musical performances. The architecture is amazing. There is regular seating, like most theatres, but there is also a balcony. As a kid or teenager, I remember seeing Empire Strikes Back, Ghost busters, Rocky 4 and many other movies here. I will always Love this place.

Yelp
The elsinore as always knocks it out of the park! Probably Salems finest tourist attraction--the architecture you've gotta see to believe! We saw the Acapella semi finals and was blown away by the performance! They're being the best artists to salem in this super cool venue! Their snack bar has your everyday items--beer and wine--doritos and pop! Prices are elevated as to be expected but hey--it's a non profit theatre ! you're keeping this place alive by your patronage!

Yelp
This is a really cool historic venue. Recently saw a movie here and loved the vibe. Can't wait to catch a band here.

Yelp
Beautiful place- needs hand rails in balcony- Never get seats in upper balcony if you have a size 8 or bigger bottom. Seats were painful. Lady usher was super nice and let us move to empty seats that were normal sized.

Yelp
My favorite place to go with husband on a date. We like to catch a silent movie with the wonderful pipe organ. The structure is from 1927 and is very beautiful. Much better than any modern theatre.

Yelp
One of my favorite places in Salem! They work hard to bring great entertainment to this venue and it is improving annually! Listening to music here is a fantastic treat because the music swells over you. I can't wait for the 2018 season!

Yelp
Beautiful location! So happy they do Wednesday movie night. Only complaint is they only take cash inside at the bar. There was no sign mentioning this, and the bartender never mentioned it. In fact she said "everyone that comes in here, knows this" I found that a bit disrespectful. I am sure there are regulars, but that's no excuse to blame me for not asking. I usually ask, but was distracted with the beauty of the place and my wife asking for the phone to snap pics. The manager made an excellent call by not making me walk to the nearest bank to withdraw money, I really appreciated that and has a new loyal happy customer. This place is amazing, visit and bring cash!

Yelp
Went to a Christmas concert here and it was a really great venue. It was built in 1926 (renovated in 2002) so it has that beautiful older architecture, with the huge columns, the grand staircase, and just an overall great feel and atmosphere. The lobby is gorgeous and the whole place is very inviting. Parking can be a bit of a bear though; we had to get there early so we parked close but the people who arrived later had to scramble for parking, or park a ways away. Reminds me a lot of the Paramount in Seattle, which is my favorite concert venue, although the Elsinore is only about half the size.

Aaron J.

Yelp
Wonderful, beautiful venue to hear music. Just found it odd/inconvenient they only accept cash and don't appear to have an ATM.

Yelp
Years ago (2006??) we saw the great Bea Arthur perform here...as it turned out to be one of her last concerts. Anyway, we sat way up in the balcony, with a column blocking some of our view...but it wasn't too bad. The seats are small...but the theatre itself is renovated. The lobby is great...open and spacious and old fashioned (but in a good way).

Yelp
I loved this theatre. We saw Patton Oswalt there. Not only was the show good, we had a great view. The theatre was very cozy. Very comfortable seats. The lobby is gorgeous!! The sound is great too. Could use a couple more bathrooms but it's an old place do what can you do? We parked on the street right outside. I will definitely be seeing more shows here!

Yelp
This is truly one of my favorite places in Salem!! It's beautiful, the talent is exceptional, it's comfortable, classy, and the service is spectacular!!! I love plays and took my children with me to watch Junie B. Jones and they had a fabulous time, as did I!! Can't wait to go again!!

Yelp
The Michael Night performance on 4/19 here at the Elsinore was literally the worst experience that I have had anywhere. The Performance for both were garbage. They did not rehearse and the sound on half the songs did not work. After the performances there was a meet and greet. That was like hell on earth. No signs to where to line up. The staff of the performers and the staff of the theater were the rudest people I have ever seen at a venue. DO NOT GO TO THIS VENUE EVER!!!!
