Where to Find the Best Steak Around Denver | Eater Denver

"Though Elway’s is a far cry from a sports bar — it’s located in the Ritz-Carlton, after all — memorabilia from the eponymous Broncos quarterback’s career is tastefully arrayed throughout the space, making it a sure bet for football fans with hearty appetites. Beyond the standard prime cuts, signature dishes include the lamb chops with green chile fondue, the short rib, and the pastry chef’s play on a Ding Dong, as well as the chicken-fried steak burrito, aka the breakfast of champions." - Ruth Tobias

Google
A wonderful night to remember. This was a surprise date night to my wife. I’ve booked this place over two weeks and after doing countless research on the best place in Vail for steak. The service from Alejandra was fantastic. She was attentive and continuously wished my wife a Happy Birthday. More on this later. We ordered a feast as we came into this meal hungry. We both loved our steaks. So tender, juicy and oozing with flavor - we agreed that we were happy with our decisions on the filets. The onion rings are by far the best in class. So tender inside but the thick beer battered outer layer still complimented the sweet vonion to perfection. I was shocked as most places who serve battered onion rings are a grease fest. These onion rings were a decadent experience. The fries were okay. We both wished they were a little crisper. The mashed potatoes are heavenly. Definitely a thick amount of butter was used in these to give a buttery flavor that hit tons of notes. It was a great side piece for the steak. Lastly, the server, Alejandra served my wife a complimentary slice of the Decadent Chocolate Cake as a “Happy Birthday” present. Such a nice touch of hospitality that we won’t forget. It was a very moist cake with tons of rich chocolate flavor. Definitely a mist get. Overall, the night was a success. Thank you to Elway’s for a magical end to our mountain getaway.

Our servers were very attentive and cordial. Food was outstanding. The lamb fondue, just terrific. The porterhouse perfectly prepared. Great food good value.

Google
Elway’s in Vail is an absolute gem that deserves every one of its five stars! From the moment we stepped into this upscale yet cozy steakhouse in the heart of Vail Village, the experience was flawless. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance—elegant but welcoming, with a lively bar and stunning mountain views from the patio. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, offering spot-on recommendations that elevated our meal. The star of the show was the food: the USDA prime ribeye was cooked to perfection, tender and bursting with flavor, while the lamb chop fondue—a must-try—was a delightful surprise with its rich green chile cheese dip. The Elway’s salmon, paired with a silky miso beurre blanc, was equally impressive, showcasing their knack for fresh, creative dishes beyond steak. Sides like the Thai basil Brussels sprouts added a flavorful twist, and the wine list, with over 350 selections, paired beautifully with every bite. Yes, it’s pricey, but the quality justifies every penny—this is dining done right. The staff even surprised us with a complimentary chocolate cake to celebrate our occasion, a thoughtful touch that sealed the deal. Elway’s isn’t just a meal; it’s a memorable experience that captures the essence of Colorado hospitality. We’ll be back every time we’re in Vail!

Google
Professional Staff, Gorgeous and Elegant Interior, but Hype-up Super Expensive Food. The moment you walk into this stylish restaurant, you would expect none but the best culinary experience. We were very impressed at how friendly and courteous the staff were. We didn't have a reservation, but we were greeted and seated pretty quickly. Staff explained the menu so well, and that made us hungrier. I had a dinner special that came with filet mignon and a lobster tail. I will say it was about average. We also have artichoke we couldn't have a second bite so it is to be avoided. I love rabbit food, but this high-end restaurant doesn't know how to make it delicious. It is all about the food, and Elway's will not make my humble taste cut.

Google
The dinner we did at Elways was for 9 people. The food came out fast and was as ordered. We had a wide range of food including Steaks, burgers, lobster, salads and desert. Everything was as expected high end good quality ingredients.

Google
In Elway’s, the best recommendation, and a must-try in Vail, is the Lamb Chop Fondue. It's the best I've ever had, and the combination of flavors is excellent. I highly recommend it.

Google
Tricky to find, upstairs in the Lodge, but a wonderful meal. We started with the artichokes and shrimp cocktail, had newyork Strip, and filet for main course with brussel sprouts and onion rings ( only thing we didn't love). We finished with key lime pie and classic ding dong cake. We were off season so there was little to no one there. Overall very nice meal.

Yelp
Stopped by Elway's for late-night drinks and dessert--everything was perfect. Great wine list, an amazing bourbon selection, and a killer Old Fashioned. The cheesecake and chocolate cake were the perfect nightcap. Our server Lucija was exceptional--so friendly and attentive. Her warm service made the whole night even better. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Located right at Vail Village. Walking friendly if you live at hotels close by. Great food and service. The ambience is classy but "relaxed". The best dish was the ribeye. Done to perfection! Kid friendly (with coloring paper and crayons) and has kids menu for $20-25 (mini steaks were cute!). Reasonably priced and huge portions. Overall highly recommend for a great meal and considering it was in Vail, the pricing was relatively reasonable :)

Yelp
Everyone used to love Elway's, a lot of folks are starting to complain about the prices, although that's pretty common in Vail. We went there with our daughters March 2, 2025. I ordered a House Barrel Aged Manhattan, the waiter said it came with a large, square ice cube. I told him I wanted just regular, small ice cubes, but he seemed confused. I told him the big ones hit me in the nose, he laughed and I thought he understood. When the drink came (via 3rd party), the guy said "Here's the Manhattan with 3 small ice cubes." Not what I ordered, but I needed that drink badly. The tuna tartare was good, my wife had the lamb chop appetizer which looked burned, but she said it was good. I don't eat meat, so I can't really speak to that. My Caesar salad, which, to me is the crux of any meal, was a bunch of chopped Romaine, WAY too much shredded cheese and a very bland dressing. Was sorry I ordered it. When I ordered the salmon, the waiter asked me which one, although there was only one on the menu that came with shrimp, lump crab meat and some kind of sauce. It was also available a la carte (without all that crap on it) for $12 less and that is the one I specified and pointed out to the waiter on the menu. Of course I got the one with all the sauce and I couldn't eat it, so I just brought it home for the dog. Eating out in Vail ain't what it used to be and I guess I was just tired of sending stuff back.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant! Porch is amazing in the summertime. The waiters are very attentive and knowledgeable. We got an order of the calamari... which ended up not being our favorite. That is definetly our own personal opinion. It is served with deep fried olives stuffed with blue cheese, we were unsure about the texture of that. There was also excess oil in the bottom of the plate, again just not our favorite, but it was been highly rated by others!!! We got an 8oz filet and a side of mac and cheese. The filet melted in your mouth delicious! The mac and cheese side was huge! We ended up taking most of it home! It was decadent!

Yelp
This restaurant is always our first stop when we go to Vail to ski for a week. Usually we start with the wedge salad that we share with chunks of blue cheese and bacon. A classic. For mains we get the bone in New York strip and the filet. Always cooked to perfection and tasty. This year, for some reason they thought it was our anniversary and gave us a glass of champagne and piece of chocolate cake. When you are given the put, take it.

Yelp
Service was great! Sangria was delicious! Spinach and artichoke dip was soooo good!! Caesar salad was good and large enough to split. Steaks were excellent. Great flavor, cooked perfectly, cut like butter. The Brussel sprouts were amazing.
google avatar

Yelp
Everything you eat here will be phenomenal. We started with the oysters and wedge salad and devoured all of them. Also had the filet which we shared since we also ordered onion rings and omg they have some good onion rings. Service is amazing. They never let you go without. Very good place to take your date! Dimly lit and fancy inside. We like sitting at the bar if possible. Reservations required so go ahead and book in advance! The next time we came here we had the burgers and they were so good. Everything's good!

Yelp
I really feel like this is such a hidden gem and people overlook this place. I have been here 2 times and every time it is so amazing. Our server wasn't the best but we suspect she was new. The sommelier was great and suggested a bottle of wine that was so good and didn't break the bank. The #7 salad was so yummy as was my Elways salmon. My husband got a filet and lobster tail and the lobster tail was cooked to perfection! The crab fried rice is a unique thing to have on the menu as a side but omg, it so good! Our only real complaint is the dessert menu, we had the key lime pie last time and it was just okay, tasted frozen and this time we had the ding dong which lacked flavor. Granted the coconut cheesecake sounds amazing but my husband hates coconut so i haven't tried it, so there are some thing I think would be good but wish there was more of a variety. All in all, one of our best meals we had on our ski trip and we definitely will be back!

Yelp
Whoops I did it again....love this spot! Stopped in on a Monday night ~ 7 and while the bar was full - we got a nice table in the back. Service was spectacular as was the food!! Love the warm sourdough bread they serve & my son said it was the BEST steak he ever had (8 oz filet) & the side of fries he got were embarrassing in the massive portion size) - he loves them. The Grand Hyatt had recommended the burger.. and while I felt funny ordering (I was eyeballing the salmon) it was DELICIOUS! Wow, so good and perfectly prepared. Also served with a very generous portion of fries...we could have split those alone. Forgot that I don't love the marg (the mix has a funny flavor) - but i ordered it! Great spot to sit and talk, very comfortable & I did I say exceptional service!! Wish I had room for the ding dong desert...next time...

Yelp
Elway's is far from a touchdown... I don't know how to say this politely, but what a sorry excuse for a "fancy chophouse." It seems nice on the surface, and the bar area was quaint; however, they had two big-screen TVs (the third one was missing for some reason), but only one was showing the All-Star game; the other was showing the most depressing news coverage. In hindsight, I should've asked them to change it to the game as well. The bathroom is also inconveniently located a few flights down in no-man's land.  I was there for happy hour, for which the menu isn't listed online for some reason. The beer choices are severely limited (only three beers on tap), so I ordered a blue cheese martini, which was not only very weak, but the olives were slimy with the cheese oozing out. The smash burger was flavorless, and despite it being a smash burger, it wasn't smashed at all; it was just a plain steak burger. The fries were slathered in salt to overcompensate for the blandness of the meal, not to mention all of this was incredibly overpriced, even for Vail standards. Elway's is one of those restaurants that will never make the playoffs. I think it's time they draft some better menu items and go back to the line of scrimmage, because all in all, this was a total fumble.

Yelp
The steak was the best I have had in vail! The people were very nice and friendly but there was a little bit of plastic in my food. There was still Christmas decorations up in February. I still really recommend this place!
google avatar

Chen-Tan L.

Yelp
Nice ambience. Friendly service. Vail-appropriate pricing for a couple of 8-oz filets. The steak rub is 'not gluten friendly, not soy friendly, not nut friendly' but tasted delicious. Perfect touch of crunch on top of a perfect grilling. Great sautéed mushrooms and baked potato with everything. We enjoyed our quiet, low-key meal. Then key lime pie to top it off. Well done.

Susan B.

Yelp
Went to dinner on Thursday the 19th and we had the most delightful meal and service. Our server named Lucia went above and beyond. She was the best! The steak was to die for, will definitely return!

Heidi M.

Yelp
Food was subpar at best. Fish and steak were both undercooked. Service was terrible. The table next to us was SO loud. The staff noticed how loud it was and offered to move us an entire hour later. Just terrible, please save yourself the experience and the money and eat elsewhere.
google avatar

Chris W.

Yelp
The 3.2 star rating here is not reflective of the actual, current, food/service experience. Had dinner here with a large group and everything was excellent. The steaks, apps, and sides were all delicious. Service we experienced was friendly and on point. I note some folks are complaining about the prices. It's Vail- not exactly a "budget destination". Also whoever said "wines are 3x-5x retail" - I'd like to know where you buy your wine. The wine list is reasonably extensive and with prices on par with other high end restaurants. For context, we also had dinner at Mountain Standard and Vendettas and the food at Elways was quite a bit better Don't be misled here by the low star ranking
google avatar

Tyler K.

Yelp
Honestly not sure why this doesn't have a higher rating, i've been coming to Elways for years now and make an effort to stop in Elways because of how damn good the steaks are.

Ron A.

Yelp
Everything about Elways Vail was great. Enrique was absolutely one of the best waiters ever. I got in engaged after dinner.

Cindy Andrea S.

Yelp
Insanely beautiful and delicious. We sat in the back room. It's was beautiful. Room full of windows. The steak was delicious. Crispy on the outside and deliciously moist in the center. Potatoes were amazing. My kids inhaled their mac and cheese. I didn't try them but they said they were great. Would definitely recommend this restaurant
google avatar

Shelby B.

Yelp
All I have to say is YUM?! We had the lollipop lamb chop fondue and it was phenomenal. Shane was our server/bartender who recommended it and he was stellar. He makes a damn good drink too. Can't wait to come back to try more on the menu!

Shawn M.

Yelp
Calamari was a solid appetizer. Ok filet, sides were better in this order: Spinach, Au gratin potatoes, Brussel sprouts and asparagus. Was with a larger group so service was maxed.
google avatar

Nicole B.

Yelp
We absolutely loved this place! We sat at the bar and shared a wedge salad which was large enough! We also shared a 10oz filet which was seasoned to perfection. It was fantastic we got it cooked Medium. The crowd was fun and busy! Definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a steakhouse.

Yelp
I was in town visiting family and my niece and nephew had ski school here on Saturday so we came up the night before to relax and enjoy and enjoy what Vail has to offer. Our dinner was on the early side, which is ok. My niece wasn't feeling well, and after a week of school my nephew was pretty run down. They got chicken fingers with fries. My nephew ordered a kids burger with mashed potatoes. the bread service was a fresh baked sourdough, with herb butter. So delicious the kids almost ignored dinner to wolf down the bread. I had a cocktail, one with blackberry, tequila and Chambord. Delicious. My brother ordered a Caesar salad, with the half chicken and I ordered the Smash burger with fries. The Caesar was magnificent, dressed well with tons of cheese and croutons. Very lemon forward. My burger was excellently cooked. We split a half bottle of wine, so delicious with dinner. We had plenty of leftovers. Our service was so good, I wish I remembered our servers name but she was super professional, friendly, and understood when she saw two kids sleeping on one side of our table while my brother and I caught up and ate. We meant to stay for dessert but it was better we finished up. Thank you Elways, I didn't get steak but I wanted to let you know that your food is delicious and I can't wait to come back another time.
google avatar

Eric S.

Yelp
This is NOT a premium steak restaurant. While the wait staff was very pleasant, we were told by multiple people to avoid the New York strip. So we ordered the filet, medium. It arrived well done. For the price they charge, of course I sent it back. 30 minutes later (should have taken 5-10), another steak arrived... raw. Ok, it was seared, but the inside was bloody red and cold. I sent that back too. The manager tried to avoid us. But we finally got her to come over, and she didn't even apologize. Oh, and the sautéed mushrooms side dish was inedible because of a ridiculous amount of salt. Avoid this place.
google avatar

Dominic D.

Yelp
Good service and nice ambience outside. Had a filet mignon with lobster tail. Pricy as expected but delicious
google avatar

Yelp
The new trend in ski-resort steak houses seems to be to overcomplicate the menus with prestige cuts and breeds and aging so as to bilk people out of as much money as possible. Not saying that there aren't many great steaks to be had out there, but, man, it was refreshing to open the menu at Elway's. The menu has like four basic cuts and doesn't even volunteer what breed of cow or that they're... maybe... wet-aged for 30 days or something like that. Straight up no descriptors aside from USDA Primeness. Either the management has literally never been to another steakhouse (including Ruth's Chris tier) *or* they've made a conscious choice to just not bother since the majority of customers have no idea what's going on anyway. I'm cool with it, honestly. My advice is that if you're going to spend $90/lb for USDA Prime tenderloin you, generally speaking, should meditate on what you're actually paying for (like I did!). Coming off having eaten over 150lbs of tenderloin in 2020, I can say that the grading of tenderloin barely matters. Simply, you will always get more bang for your buck with a fattier cut. The food was excellent. I was disappointed with the waitstaff, as I found them a bit amateurish for a steakhouse. Especially considering we're well into the winter season, it's not like they started yesterday.
google avatar

Alyx S.

Yelp
Food was just ok. Not at all worth the price. The service was HORRIFIC. We never got the bread, saying "it's just house bread" when we brought it to their attention. They got our steaks out first, 10 minutes later they got our sides out. Then they proceeded to ignore us, not refilling water or anything. Then we had to wait 20 minutes after we had finished eating before having to ask 3 times for the check. And another 10-20 after they got us our checks to actually run our cards. They also charge a 20% gratuity. Maybe if they didn't tack that on & the servers had to earn their tips, their service would be better. Our server was Bojan. He blatantly avoided us after the service break down with the steaks & sides. Also tried to tell us that the bread was by request only, which I am calling bullshit on. No restaurant in the country operates this way.

Susie R.

Yelp
We'd went for dinner, from walking in to drinks, food & service was excellent. Sat outside on patio nice weather. I had the steak and it was one of the best steaks I've ever had, cooked perfect and tasted amazing and so tender. Next time in Vail I will definitely eat there again.
google avatar

Shalisa J.

Yelp
My husband and I went back for the second time and our steak was charcoals burn . We ordered the Medium well Fillet mignon. Not happy at all about the quality of food.
google avatar

Erin E.

Yelp
Um.... So that was delicious. We walked around Vail trying to find a steakhouse, bumped into concierge at a hotel, and they recommended we try this. I am so glad we did. My husband got the 8oz filet mignon, which was absolutely amazing. Cooked to perfection and screaming with flavor, he was not disappointed. I ordered the salmon and man, was I impressed. The fish just fell apart. We ordered the mashed potatoes to split for a side, and my husband liked them so much, he was licking the spoon. Just a heads up- the steak is made with a seasoning that has gluten and all but their sorbet for dessert has gluten. Disappointed because we know the dessert would be delicious but husband can't have it anymore. Would definitely go back. Kind staff, fun atmosphere, and absolutely amazing food.
google avatar

A C.

Yelp
In a word: fine. The food is fine. The atmosphere is fine. What I like most is it's off the beaten path, so if you don't want to be seen or run in to people it's good for that. As another poster noted, it's very difficult to find. It's not all the way to Mill Creek Circle, but yes it is out of the way and that's actually what I relish. :)

Yelp
We came here for our anniversary dinner in July. It's the off-season, but we heard reservations are still recommended. We didn't make any, but The staff was totally cool, offered a couple options, we chose the bar and had a wonderful time! Since we had mentioned it was our anniversary, they comped us two glasses of champagne to celebrate! EVERYTHING is expensive. Sorry, just relax and go with it. The quality of drinks, sides, and main dishes is top-notch, so I didn't feel bad at all! My wife told me to tell y'all that the chicken corn chowder is off the HOOK. I had the iceberg blue cheese salad, which was awesome (2 full strips of bacon, quality blue cheese, I scavenged some of the bread to sop up every last bit!) I had the ribeye and can't say enough about it. Vegans be damned, THIS is why I'm an omnivore! Salty, smoky, savory, omg absolutely amazing! My wife had the rack of lamb and LOVED it. Hats off to the service staff. Excellent teamwork, from the hostess to the bartenders to the wait staff - solid work, we felt like family! As I was writing this review, they brought us cake for our anniversary! thanks Elway's we love you too!

Cody P.

Yelp
Let me start by saying the service was good and it is a nice restaurant inside. The 4 of us in our party were disappointed with our meals. Just nothing to remember or rave about. Also ordered the chocolate chip cookie with icecream for dessert and it was good but nothing special at all, and I would suggest 2 scoops of ice cream for $13 price would be nice.
google avatar

Jason L.

Yelp
I stopped in for Happy Hour with my family. HH is now "only available in the bar". So, we asked for a table in the almost empty bar. Our waitress sought and was granted permission to seat us in the bar from a surly hostess but ONLY after she gave our party the stink eye. The appetizers were good and the drinks passable. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone I liked.
google avatar

J J.

Yelp
Pricey a la carte type steak place, pricey cocktails. Our waiter was great, very kind and helpful when choosing our dinner. I'd recommend the spin/artichoke app, and our filets were good.
google avatar

Todd L.

Yelp
Best restaurant in Vail by far Had a wonderful time with my family and will be back when I'm in the area Don't just think tourist when considering this restaurant, the food and wine list is great, and the service impeccable. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Jeff L.

Yelp
Wildly overpriced, (even for Vail), mediocre oversalted flavorless steaks that require seperately sold sauce, hillariously overpriced wine list (3-5x retail), and arrogant hostesses with bad attidudes despite a mostly empty restaurant. Simply avoid this farce of an "upscale" steakhouse.
google avatar

Greg A.

Yelp
So unfortunate!! We have never been treated how we were today. The food and service was the worst you could ever imagine. Concerns that everyone needs to know about: The staff especially the manager does not care. So sad for what should be a great restaurant. Food quality is substandard for a high end restaurant. More concerned with turning tables than serving high quality food. Rushed through in under sixty minutes from appetizers to dessert. Created a horribly rushed unfriendly experience. Out of products. One example, baked potatoes. They cook Eight a day no matter what. The team says they run out every day. The manager said that is just how we do things here. Wow! Anniversary dinner but they totally forgot. Extremely sad!! Would go on but the team there does not seem to care. Went there due to the Elway name but they are damaging his reputation.
google avatar

Ben L.

Yelp
Dinner party of 4. Earlier reservation (6 PM) after a great day of skiing. Drinks and wine were outstanding and reasonably priced. The filet was nothing short of perfect as compared to Ruth's Chris, Charley's, and other steak houses. Two members of the party had steak tacos which were tasty and another member had the burger. Our service was nothing short of spectacular and I wish I could remember the name of our server (she had a Bulgarian accent). Overall, many thanks for a wonderful dinner!
google avatar

Alaina A.

Yelp
Poor experience from the start. The hostesses didn't take our coats but were sure to remind us of our time limit for dining. Our server was terrible. She rushed us through ordering, staff brought food to our table without explaining what they were serving (I still don't know what the yellow sauce was with the tuna tartare). Worst of all was the steak. It was cold and instead of the blue cheese being cooked on top- which our server told us it was- cold sauce was dumped on top of our $90 porterhouse (which was also cold). We ate it because we were hungry and the waitstaff seemed inept. This can't be the best steakhouse in Vail.
google avatar

Drew M.

Yelp
Looking for a nice place to spend the evening during our mountain getaway. Found this nestled in the Lodge, and it did not disappoint. We had a late lunch so we decided to split the 20oz Bone in Ribeye and a lobster tail for our entree. We also split a wedge salad and a "cup" of soup. The salad was very fresh and crisp. A small note was that there was some heavily wilted and browned lettuce in the middle of the wedge. Unfortunately nothing they could have found prior to us eating it. The soup was a corn and potato chowder with bacon. Absolutely awesome! Our steak came undercooked so we sent it back and they finished it nicely. We were warned they tend to undercook but this was even more than we would have thought. Despite that, the prime steak was amazingly marbled and caramelized. Every tasted incredible and the service was attentive. Despite telling staff not to, they comped our salad for the wilted lettuce and the undercooked steak. Definitely a return trip in our future!

Lauren W.

Yelp
Elway's consistently impresses me. The ambiance, the food and service are unparalleled. The lamb chop lollipops are an absolute MUST. I almost always get the ribeye and it's prepared to perfection. This time I tried the burger and was not let down. A few mentionable items that were delicious are the espresso martinis, calamari, lobster tails, and the mushrooms. The server, Sibin, was exemplary. We can always rely on Elway's for a memorable evening!
google avatar

Eduardo C.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. We were staying at the lodge at vail and went here for dinner one night. The ambience was quiet and intimate. Will definitely dine here again if we have the chance.
google avatar

Matthew G.

Yelp
This is a tough one for me. Our family loves John Elway. My father was a huge fan, and was taken from us after battling cancer. So, I had to go in his honor. Let me say, THE FOOD WAS GREAT. We got a filet, mashed potatoes, and salmon. All of it was perfect! Now, the service. They tried so hard, but came up short. Our servers were so cold and unfriendly. The food sat for a minute before they brought it out, almost like they forgot. Took way too long. We were celebrating our anniversary, and were delighted when they gave us a card at our table. We opened the card and it was signed by the staff, and it said, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" All I could say was, "Awww bless their hearts." At least they tried. I would probably never go again, but it is worth trying once.
google avatar

Natty C.

Yelp
Nice ambiance but that's about it. Overpriced for sub par food. $14 for a cocktail? Get the chip off your shoulder, Vail. Ordered the Elway's burger which was topped with shoe string fries and a fried egg. It was massive but so salty I couldn't finish it. It's also connected to a hotel and full of tourists. Would not recommend.
google avatar

Cristina D.

Yelp
Impecable service. All of the meats were cooked to perfection, highly recommend the lobster tater tots. I ordered the tuna tartar and it was delicious.
google avatar

Margaret Z.

Yelp
Pretty disappointing actually. My local friend made a reservation. It's her fav Elways location. We ordered a pretty comprehensive and complete meal, steaks, salad, sides but they forgot our lobster tail. Then we couldn't decide on a wine. The house and the Elways reserve, I believe we almost undrinkable. Perhaps they were open too long. Our waiter sent for the Sommelier, she was pretty horrifying, when she realized we were local, pushed several times asking us "how much do you want to spend" super offensive, no discussion on palette, preferred flavors. Like shit, I could do that job! What an a-hole! We dismissed her then our service fell flat, enquired again about our lobster nothing, so we cancelled that order. On receiving our check there was some murmur about a concession due to forgetting. Fact is: it was a low level experience.

Yelp
I'm with Mathew G and his review Food was great but the service? The best word I can come up with is Smug. From Ben at the host desk to Chelsea our waitress. Even the younger red headed dude who used the word Miss three times in one sentence. (I'm 59) Like get over yourselves- we know we're going to have a class act dinner, we're paying for it. How about the staff get some lessons on how to act with class too? That way everyone can be happy Last call for Elways

Yelp
You're in Colorado and you see see the name Elway, you must try it... right? Wrong. I don't usually write reviews of bad places but this place costs so much money that I'm chiming-in. There are so many fantastic restaurants in Vail, go to them instead. It was just terrible in almost every way, beginning with off-duty staff at the bar who provided the distractions needed to slow service and disregard customers. The menus were covered with old gook. I wouldn't touch it. My filet mignon was like a hunk of stew beef. My potatoes weren't hot, twice. I gave up half-way through and just sent it all back. No one came to the table, no one curious. The check came and I was billed the full amount. It's as though the staff was clueless. I was on a date and paid and left, not how I would have handled it otherwise. There's an Elway's at the airport, I'll be avoiding it, too.

Yelp
Selected Elway's for our friends birthday dinner and could not have been happier! The staff and food were just perfection and I'm still dreaming of that incredible ribeye - we will definitely be back!
