Elysium Axe Bar

What a great spot! Fun for the whole family with axe throwing, darts, pool tables and board games. Perfect outing on a rainy day. Nice people, good vibes, we will definitely be back!

I'm fairly new to axe throwing, having only visited two other axe throwing venues in the DMV...but THIS one was the BEST! The sheer number and variety of axe throwing games available is awesome! Both Kristen and Lori, our hosts on the day we visited, were equally awesome and welcoming and helpful. There is an impressive selection of draft beer on hand, and while we didn't have any, the food did DID look great! I cannot more HIGHLY recommend a better place to try axe throwing in. Northern Virginia...make it a priority to visit Elysium!!! 🙂

The marching band mom’s and our son’s got together to experience something a little different… WE all had a phenomenal time. It was a cool & chill atmosphere. Those chipotle chicken wings were absolutely amazing! Best of all, although we were amateurs we had a blast throwing axes!

Met up with some friends here and we all had a blast! The axe throwing was so much fun. Interactive board made it easy to keep score and it was nice to have different games to play. The karaoke was a bonus and although there were not many people there we had fun singing with just our small group. Food was delicious; drinks were good but inconsistent. We will definitely be coming back!

My husband and I had come from drinking wine (to celebrate our wedding anniversary) at a nearby vineyard that had quite possibly the worst wine we have ever had. The day was so windy, my husband's food flipped out of his hands onto the ground and we left feeling really irritated about how our anniversary was going. We decided to try axe throwing to conclude what was turning out to be a horrible anniversary day and we ended up having a really fun time at Elysium. The staff member that helped us get set up was super friendly and attentive. We were never without great advice on throwing the axe or without a drink in our hands. The place has great ambiance to begin with, but right now it is decorated for Halloween and they did such a great job! It put us in the Halloween spirit, for sure. My husband and I are wine and whiskey snobs, so we didn't have high expectations for bar drinks. We were pleasantly surprised by the fun libations on the menu and we enjoyed our cocktails a lot more than we expected. And the bar food was pretty good! Overall I give this place 5 stars and an extra invisible star for helping us turn a really bad day into a great one.

When looking for a new place to try, I always look at reviews for places and products. So here is my review for Elysium Axe Bar in Purcellville, Va. My husband and I had been wanting to try this place out for a while now, so we decided tonight’s the night! The on line reservation process was easy, we reserved a time and a lane without any problems. Upon arrival the staff was polite and very helpful. They went over waivers and axe throwing safety with us, prior to our start time. We enjoyed a few appetizers and drinks while having a great time throwing axes at different targets and games. Elysium was clean and had a great atmosphere. Fun place for adults , teens and families to enjoy. We are looking forward to going back soon.

Was my first time ever axe throwing with friends and it was a great experience! My friends who had never been to this location before were even saying it was way more fun here than other places they've been! Great music, great drinks, and friendly staff all made it a great time! Also would highly recommend the shot roulette!

Awesome place for a group celebrating or just hanging out. The Barbacoa and the Pepperoni Pizza Grilled Cheese are worth going back for alone! The bartender was friendly and provided quick service. The attendant was also very friendly and accommodating. It was upstairs in a loft like area and it was very cozy and inviting. Video games, pool tables, ax throwing, darts,...tons to do! We can't wait to go back and have already made plans to go with friends.

So much fun axe throwing! It's a one-of-a-kind experience and totally worth it. Elysium provides the fun so just bring your group for something totally new. They have super friendly staff, nice atmosphere, and good food and drinks. I was skeptical at first, but everyone was safe and we laughed and smiled as we enjoyed the drinks and got to see who could 'land' the axe on the board. Pro tip: Make reservations cuz it gets busy.

We came here with a couple of friends and got an hour of axe throwing. Bar area is pretty nice with a full selection and a decent tap list. We all enjoyed the camaraderie of the whole place because you have something to do while eating and drinking. Think Top Golf but with axes. I think this is a nice spot for a work event or a small group of friends. With all of that being said after throwing axes for an hour I'm not sure I need to do it again real soon. I'd come here for a drink at the bar though. Enjoy!

You ever had the urge to throw axes at zombies? If so, THIS IS YOUR PLACE!!! Elysium is pretty much the definition of laid-back fun. I'd never thrown axes before but had some time to burn before dinner so gave it a try. You sign up for different increments of time; I got 30 minutes. Several lanes are available. Think of it like a short bowling alley - but with axes. As it was my first time I received a lot of mentorship. Turns out I was throwing too hard, so the axe handle kept hitting first. But when I loosened up I was hitting near the bullseye fairly consistently. Obviously - sharp weapons and alcohol go together, so there is bar stacked with craft beer. Noshes are also available although I didn't try that. My favorite setting was the one where you throw against projections of zombie heads. After I found that one, I basically stopped looking at other options...because why would you? So there you have it; sharp weapons, alcohol, and training for the Zombie Apocalypse, all wrapped into one!

Fantastic. Everything you didn't know you wanted in an Axe Throwing experience. Flat fee per 30 minutes with unlimited throws. Great food, good service, beautiful decor and ambiance. Kudos to whoever made the playlist for "Heathen Night" I wanted to hear Amon Amarth before the night was over and it was on there. Suggestions for the proprietor: Pure metal seating at the lane tables looks neat but isn't great for comfort. Coat hooks somewhere on each lane would be nice.

Had a Airbnb in the area and decided to do this for one of our new years activities. Really solid place. Nice ambiance, service was pretty good and they broke down the rules etc well. 30min went by well but the cost wasn't bad enough to add an additional hour. One thing I really liked that it was a digital background which added multiple games to basic axe throwing. Can't give it a full 5 stars only because we didn't get any food but definitely a must try. FYI the entry is in the back of the building lol it

We wanted to try out a new place for Halloween and went to the Elysium Halloween "Scare Throw"! It was incredibly fun and entertaining. The staff, people, music and ambience were exceptional! They really have ax throwing with electronic scorekeepers. The menu is by scanning the whatchamadeally and items are all appealing and reasonably priced. The drinks 2 per person) were included in the ticket price. Everyone was friendly and approachable. My wife won Best Costume and had numerous requests for selfie and photos. We are definitely coming back! This time I'll try my skill at Ax throwing!

Amazing service, tons of fun and great games love the music and staff. Also food is fresh and delicious my recommendation is the pretzel bite they were so good.

Setup was nice because it's not too crowded and they are good at time slots, staff was very friendly and professional and the picklebacks were phenomenal!!if I were to change one thing it would be food quality/ portions. Spinach dip was a small bowl to share and the fried pickles were not done and very chewy on the inside. Even though the food wasn't all that at least what we ordered I would still highly recommend this place for a great time.

We went to Elysium for a fun Christmas week activity for the family (all adults). We were not disappointed. Our host/axe master was excellent at explaining how to play and how to throw axes. The axe throwing was surprisingly fun, even though I never really mastered it. The rest of my group got it, though. There was a good selection of brews (on tap and bottled), and everyone was happy with the options. The food options looked good, but we only had a snack, which was tasty, since we had eaten earlier. They even have a juke box with a wide selection of tunes. If you are looking for something different and fun, then this is the place to go.

My daughter's and wife took me to Alysium Axe Bar for Father's Day. We had a blast, and we are already planning our next visit. The stuff was helpful and friendly. I highly recommend Alysium Axe Bar!

Fun night with family and a large group. The staff was very friendly and provided training and pointers for our new throwers. We also tried the garlic cheese curds and they were fantastic.

Had a great time here. Their digital screen options for throwing axes was a fun twist on the game. They also had a few free arcade games (always a bonus) and some pool tables. Really friendly staff and nice clean bathrooms. I'd definitely go back!

We signed up for something fun with our daughter and her boyfriend. The facility was very cool, with a lot to do aside from just throwing axes. The digital lanes are far better than the standard, boring target we saw when searching places. Being able to easily keep score and change the game type keeps it fun! The service struggled a bit, but it was very crowded while we were there. We will likely go back in the future.

Sunday kids can eat and throw for free. My boys have wanted to axe throw for ages and when I saw the promotion, we made plans and went. There is a variety of axe throwing games. Our server did a quick tutorial and grabbed our order. She was patient with my timid 9 year old. Soon we were having a great match and enjoying some pretty tasty bar food. We came at opening and were the only people there for an hour. I totally recommend this as an indoor fun way to spend time with family of all ages. We may come for a date night on Saturday to check out that scene.

Fun night out with the girls. We got a quick lesson from our hostess and she checked back periodically. Great for some laughs. It was 80s night, which was a pretty big draw.

Well this was an unexpected surprise. I was skeptical at first. We made reservations and rolled up and they told us they were running behind. Normally this does not end up with a 5 star review but they saw I wasn't happy and they made it right. What a gem this place is. The team genuinely cares about making sure you're having a good time, the libations are fantastic and on the night we went they had a DJ. Bonus points for being family friendly and and having the perfect ambiance for a date night! Thanks to the team for a great night.

An outstanding vibe and excellent place to spend my birthday with friends in a rainy day that could have killed the mood. The projector provides games that you can't do at any other axe throwing venue I've been to which elevates the fun and friendly competition another level! Will definitely be returning!

We were in the area for a family wedding. We had never done axe throwing. It was so much fun!! Some of us caught on quicker than others . It does take a little practice. Our waitress was AMAZING!! She gave us lessons and was so attentive for drinks and food. The food was quite good. We had a sampling of lots of appetizers. We highly recommend this for a fun and different evening out!

Superb, attentive service by Jordan. This was important, especially since he gave us our introduction to the Axe's axe throwing range. We had a wonderful time, and no one died. Excellent beer/lager, etc., and a fine selection of well prepared appetizers and entrees. This establishment is a fun addition to Purcellville's evening and happy hour scene. This was our first time to Elysium Axe Bar and it did not disappoint! We had a great time, from start to finish. Our hostess/axe throwing expert was great, she gave us the low down on the rules and how to throw the axe. We had an hour to play, wish we would have reserved for longer, but we will definitley will be back! The place itself is really cool, and the staff was great. Would highly recommend for anyone. Lots of fun!

We were two families with kids ages 10-18 and everyone had fun. If you have a bigger party make reservations so you can have lanes next to each other.

This is a great place!! Whether you are throwing axes or grabbing a bite and a drink from their full bar, it's definitely worth a visit!

We had a great date night at Elysium! The atmosphere is really nice and the ax specialist axe amazing at helping us understand the game, learn new throwing strategies, and of course ordering food and drinks. It was not crowded and we had a great time. Will definitely be back!

Cool twist on axe throwing with the projector screen and different game modes. The food and drink was also very good and reasonably priced. Even had beer for 1 dollar!

This place is awesome! I love the variety of beverages and that you can also do a flight. They allow samples if you'd like to try something as well too so you don't get stuck drinking something you don't enjoy. The variety of axe games were a pleasant surprise! Jordan who is one of the bartenders was awesome at recommendations of food, drinks and explaining the games and axe system as well! Hella nice guy! Also--the food is top notch! Very very good! The whole crew was awesome and friendly! Definitely recommend and will be back!

Food was great and the axe throwing was so fun! I love that they have different types of games that run through a projector/overlay on the wood target. Connect 4 and Tic Tac Toe team play was awesome, our group was very competitive. I will be a regular for sure.

Elysium more than exceeded any expectations I had! The variety of axe games were so fun and the staff was patient and helpful! They have a fantastic selection of craft beer, wine and canned cocktails. The pretzels and fried pickles hit the spot as well! 10/10 experience all around!

I recently went for a function - I was surprised & impressed with the overall cozy rustic ambience- I hadn't pictured it being so big or comfortable inside. The staff was friendly & attentive. Axe throwing was fun! Food was fine - typical light fare pub food . Definitely a great addition to Purcellville! I'll be returning for sure!

I love small businesses, so several friends and I decided to give Elysium a try. We were NOT disappointed! My wife who is not exactly adventurous, really got into the axe throwing. We observed a wide variety of people, including children, young adults and mature folks like myself. Everyone was having a great time! We could not have had better service. We will be back for sure.
