Vietnamese Cafe Em Coffee House Opens in Mira Mesa | Eater San Diego

"Opening Monday, November 18, this new cafe in the Mesa Town Center complex in Mira Mesa was conceived by Nick Truong, who also runs multiple San Diego outposts of bubble tea chain Ding Tea. Born in Vietnam and raised in the U.S., Truong and his wife Li, who frequent cafes together during their trips back to Vietnam, named the shop after a term of endearment in Vietnamese. Using coffee and espresso beans sourced from Vietnam exclusively, the menu includes classic beverages like cà phê sữa đá (Vietnamese iced coffee) and bạc xỉu (which has a higher proportion of milk); the coffee, brewed in a phin filter, is also the basis for creations such as the Trufflemisu—topped with a ladyfinger and white chocolate truffle cream—the CocoUbe made with coconut ube cream and toasted coconut, and the Tropical Tonic that mixes espresso, tonic water, and fresh fruit. It will also offer matcha and milk tea drinks, flights featuring smaller tasters of signature concoctions, and pastries and other desserts like mochi waffles. Truong, who is already planning to open a second location as part of Zion Market’s redevelopment in Kearny Mesa, tells Eater that he is looking to expand the cafe to other areas in San Diego including UTC, Fashion Valley, and Mission Valley." - Candice Woo

Google
Vietnamese coffee! Always on the search for some yummy Vietnamese coffee (Caphe Sua Da)and we found this wonderful place. Their Caphe Sua Da was delicious! The coffee was strong with good flavor and not overly sweet. We also got their Ube Babe which was sweet and delicious. I also came to their cafe during their one year anniversary celebration and got myself a free tumbler. It is so cute! Can’t wait to use it 😊 They had a nice festive backdrop also. We will return soon to try more drinks.

Friendly staff. Beautiful interior. The vibes are high here. The seating is comfortable and there are many spots. Great for working or getting coffee with a friend. Now let’s talk about the coffee. We got the flight to try different types. We got the ube coffee, pandan coffee, Vietnamese coffee, and a strawberry matcha. The ube and pandan was a cold cream on top of the Vietnamese coffee base. The Vietnamese coffee here is out of this world. It’s smooth and strong and delicious. Wow. I could drink this coffee all day. The matcha was also delicious. I love a good strawberry matcha. As soon as we finished, we wanted to order another one. It was that yummy!

Beautiful interior. Good vibes. Lots of seating but very full when I visited. Caramel corn latte was to die for. Notes on tables request customers to limit visits to 3 hours. Lovely spot. Would request cup lid to be more secure to cup.

Google
Nice place for studying and strong Vietnamese coffee. I love their bear waffle with custard. I tried their egg biscoff brûlée drink today and it was way too sweet. Not sure if I like it. Got a bunch of custard waffle bears though!

Google
Had a delightful experience! So many good options it’s hard to choose. The menu location isn’t the best placement. But the person at the counter recommended the white trufflemisu and it didn’t disappoint! Cute decor. Spacious and clean indoor seating. No line when I went Sunday morning @9:30. Ample parking. Definitely worth checking out if you like Vietnamese coffee!

Friends got the coffee flight with Viet iced coffee, milk tea, super coconut, and white truffle misu to share. Personal drinks were biscoff egg coffee and pandan cream. I personally really like the basic ca phe sua da and the super coconut ice cream from em creations; the milk tea was ok and the white truffle misu was too creamy for me. Would probably skip the coffee flight or any creamy drinks and just go for the basics next time. Viet iced coffee is best! ☕️

Come here for the aesthetic. Seating is often full and half the tables have outlets, which makes it a great place to get work done for a while or catch up with a friend. I wouldn't take a large group here to dine in, or plan to sit inside for longer than an hour or two. It's pretty inside, and the cups design and drink presentation are very pretty and thoughtful. There's wifi, a restroom, a handful of outlets, but it's moderately busy most of the time I've been in Though the iced drinks are delicious, I have gotten less and less of it in my cup each time. Particularly the iced coffees and matcha einspanners are yummy, but even asking for less ice, I've opted to stick to the hot drinks lately because of what I see in my cup. For how much it is, and the local competition, I like this place best for quick study/work sessions, coffee, and treating a friend out

Fast service, good price and quality. Love my marshmallow latte and my friend got a hazelnut latte. If you like your coffee strong this is the spot.

Yelp
This coffee shop is a gem. The coffee is rich and flavorful, and the croissants are fresh, buttery, and absolutely delicious. My go to drink and absolute new favourite is Pandan Coconut Matcha

Calvin T.

Yelp
Good flavors, quick service. Ideal location to hangout and study. Does offer seasonal menus. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Em Coffee House is serving a variety of caffeinated drinks (phin, espresso, matcha, cold brew, house creations, and signature cream coffees) and pastries in a modern aesthetic interior. SERVICE Patrons order and pick up at the counter. DRINK 5/5 Earl Grey Matcha (a hidden signature cream coffee pictured on the menu, but not written) combines aromatic earl Grey with earthy matcha and creamy whole milk

Yelp
Confession: I stopped by here because we share the same name, lol. I also read that in Vietnamese, Em is a term of affection...learn something new every day. But I digress. Em Coffee House is a hip and stylish coffee shop in Mira Mesa because I was needed a boost. Since I no longer drink coffee, I loved that they had a few varieties of Ceremonial Matcha beverages to choose from. I quite enjoyed their Banana Matcha (banana custard cream and banana chips)...YUM. I first tasted this at a different Matcha cafe but was open to see others interpretation of this sweet drink. This was equally as good. The hubby is the coffee drinker, especially Vietnamese coffee. He had the "Em Coffee" which is a drip coffee with milk. He enjoyed it. We are trying to limit the amount of sugar we are eating so we stopped with the drinks and skipped the pastries. Their Ham & Cheese Croissant was pretty good. Parking is a nightmare any time of the day here in this shopping center. You have been warned. Check out this cafe if you're in the Mira Mesa area for a nice hot cup of Vietnamese coffee!

Yelp
This cozy coffee shop has plenty of seating to study, grab a yummy drink, & hang out! The menu consists of a variety of Vietnamese coffee & matcha options. The baristas were very kind & quick to take our order. A solid coffee shop specializing in different Vietnamese coffee drinks. * Em Coffee - 8.5/10 (i love strong ca phe sua da, & theirs definitely meet my expectations when i asked for light sweetness. you can really taste the quality of the coffee here which serves as a great pick me up. i would recommend leaving the sweetness as is, unless you want to just taste the coffee itself)

Yelp
Located in a busy plaza in Mira Mesa, Em Coffee House is a cute local cafe perfect for studying. I say busy, but parking isn't super difficult to find. There's also plenty of indoor seating for studying solo or in groups. I stopped by here after grocery shopping at the next-door Seafood City. One coco pandan matcha for myself and a matcha einspanner for a friend. I'm a sucker for pandan, especially when mixed with matcha, and this pandan matcha was decent. It was a good balance of both matcha and pandan, but definitely not the best I've ever had. My friend got the matcha einspanner and enjoyed how creamy it was. Both lattes weren't too sweet or too milk-forward. Although this wouldn't be my go-to spot if I was wanting a matcha, I could see myself coming here to study or get some work done while enjoying a sweet treat.

Yelp
Cute cafe for studying. Good variety of Vietnamese coffee, their Pandan coffee latte was delicious. They also have a cafe flight which I am eager to try next time. Great service. Easy parking in the lot

Yelp
Love this place!! Food: You can't go wrong with anything It's delicious and creamy and very flavorful and the croissants are just right! Service: Fantastic! Very friendly, accommodating, and they answered all of my questions Ambiance: Perfect for studying! I worked with my friend here and got a lot of work done!! They had lots of plugs and wifi!!

Yelp
Thank you, Thy, and the other lovely lady, for the excellent customer service during my first visit on December 7th. You were so sweet to let me record you inviting people to check out Em Coffee House. I truly appreciated it. Thank you to the owner as well for inviting me to collaborate. Em Coffee House is by far one of the cutest coffee shops in San Diego! The ambiance is relaxed and cozy, with comfortable seating and free Wi-Fi. It was perfect for studying or catching up on the news. The EM Coffee House was so generous to invite me for the EM EXPERIENCE COFFEE flight $23.00. NOTE- This is only for dine-in. My favorite drink I've tried was the Caramel Corn Matchy. It was frothy, indulgent, and best served warm. Even though it's a bit of a drive for me, I'll definitely be back. Wishing Em Coffee House much success in the New Year, and please keep me in mind for future collaborations!

Yelp
I've been here a couple of times for their matcha or coffee. It can get somewhat crowded on the day and time and parking can also be a bit limited. I came here on a weekday afternoon and it was pretty empty while a weekend morning was much more crowded. It can get pretty loud or quiet depending in when you go. While they do have great drinks, I feel like their drinks are too sweet for me. I know I could go for less sugar and have more caffeine but it's still really sugary for me. But their pastry they have is pretty good when warmed up. I'll still visit here but probably more for their matcha than their coffee cause of the sweetness and try out different pasteries they have there.

Yelp
Em Coffee House was pretty good. It was my first time there and I tried the CocoUbe and the Pandan Coco. For the base of the drinks being Vietnamese coffee, it was good I can't say it was anything special. The CocoUbe cream wasn't bad but to me it was light and compared to what I've tried at other places, there should be a richer taste in either the coconut or Ube flavor. For the Pandan Coco, I liked that one a lot more, the cream had more flavor and flowed with the Vietnamese coffee. If I can rate between stars I would give this place a 4.4-4.5. Based on going at a time that it wasn't busy and the service was a little awkward because the employee was just at the register kinda staring and didn't ask if any questions or suggestions was needed. But the place itself is chill and the drinks were good. It's a cool spot to know about and try out if you're in the area. Also it was good enough for me to want to come back and try other options.

Yelp
Em Coffee House had been on my list of places to try for a while. The ambiance is gorgeous. It was quiet, modern, and beautifully decorated. There is a lot of attention to detail, particularly with their holiday cups and decorations. I ordered the Caphe Sua Da, which is the perfect balance of sweetness and strong coffee. I didn't get to try the bear waffle this time because something was going on with the machine so I will have to try again another day.

Yelp
Super cute shop with a lot of Asian flavors that you wouldn't find at most places. There's a good amount of seating and a parking lot right in front. Def would say it's a good spot to sit and chill with friends. Overall I thought the drinks were ok but the coffee flight makes this spot stand out a bit since it's a more unique menu item Banana: 4/5. If I had to choose a favorite, this would probably be it Pandan: 3/5, this was ok but didn't really taste like pandan White trufflemisu: 3.5/5, thought this one had too much cream Ube: 4/5, also thought this one had too much cream

Yelp
There are so many promising menu items. I just happened to be in the neighborhood dining at the pho restaurant down the street and had a tea fix in the AM. The staff members were so sweet and friendly. There was a pop-up event as well. I can't wait to try more items in the near future, I'm so glad to have found the coffee house.

Yelp
Great environment! Easy parking and with lots of seat inside. Nice place to meet friends or work. I order Egg Brulee. Pretty good nice coffee. With a tasty cream on top of the coffee :)

Yelp
Stopped by Em Coffee House and tried a coffee flight which let us sample four different drinks, a fun way to try four kinds at once. The coffee was really good and the experience felt easy and enjoyable. The place is super cute and looks recently redecorated. There were a lot of people studying/working, giving it a nice, chill vibe. It was pretty hot inside when we were there, maybe the heat was just turned up a bit too much that day. But overall it's a solid spot with good coffee. Still an easy five stars.
google avatar

Karen L.

Yelp
I've been to Em Coffee a few times and decided to finally try their strawberry matcha. I even added their signature vanilla foam to make it extra fancy. The drink came out to around $11 with tip, which would have been fine if it was amazing... but it was honestly way too sweet and the matcha had a chalky taste. I've had their coffee a few times before and noticed it's usually on the sweeter side too, so maybe that's just their style. It's a cute spot though, with people always hanging out or working on their laptops. The vibe is chill, the drinks look great, but I probably wouldn't come back for the matcha.
google avatar

Quynh N.

Yelp
If you are craving for strong Vietnamese coffee, this is the place. The place is very clean, cute and has a lot of table for you to sit. Customer service is great and the drink came out fast. I got the ube coco coffee, the Vietnamese coffee with ube sauce and coconut. I love it. It's very authentic strong Vietnamese coffee and it goes well wit the ube sauce and coconut.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a nice coffee shop with pretty decor, I really liked all the colors they used. It feels modern but also homey. The shopping center it's located in can get busy, but there's usually sufficient parking. They had a variety of Vietnamese coffee choices that looked interesting. Since it was late in the afternoon, I just had a decaf Oreo Latte (I think that was one of the few drinks they could make decaf). It was very good and not too sweet thankfully. I also tried the Vanilla latte, and that was surprisingly too sweet. The ambiance was nice and quiet with lots of people studying, and I loved their cute/decorated cups! I will definitely be back to try more of their drinks (definitely want to try the White Trufflemisu and Egg Brulee cream coffees sometime).
google avatar

Britt R.

Yelp
When I tell you this coffee shop did not disappoint! First off it's aesthetically pleasing, it's a very small space but they made it work. It was very functional. The service was great and the coffee came out very quickly. The quality of the coffee was amazing. My friend got a Vietnamese coffee and she loved it and I got the white chocolate tiramisu. That was also really good. It came with a little cookie on the top and white chocolate Shavings. The environment was definitely more focused driven. We came on a Friday night and 90% of the people in there were studying! So that was nice. It was not loud at all and like I said the coffee was so good. I can't wait to come back next time and try their Matcha.
google avatar

Crystal K.

Yelp
We've been wanting to try Em Coffee so we finally stopped by today. We love what they've done with this space - it's so much brighter and open. All of the barristas were so sweet and helped us through our indecisiveness, making recommendations and accommodating our requests for less sweetness and alternative milk when possible. I love that you can get Coffee Flights here so you can try a variety! We got a flight of 4 flavors to share - banana toffee, coconut pandan, cocoube, and strawberry matcha. They were all so delicious it's hard to choose a favorite! I also ended up getting a smores latte with oat milk to go, since I needed an extra caffeine boost for this holiday weekend. We're huge fans of Vietnamese Coffee, so we'll definitely stop by to try more.
google avatar

Jayla H.

Yelp
Ive been blessed with the banana matcha einspanner with oat milk mhmmmm DELICIOUS, but I would change the sweetness down to 50% because it was a little too sweet. Overall the place was spacious and decorated. They do give you a 3 hr max limit to study/work.
google avatar

Srey Y.

Yelp
We had a very not so common drink with lemongrass and it was SOOO good! Will be back for their other stuff! Seating is plenty and they did a good job with their interior. Sets up for a great study session!
google avatar

Tiffany P.

Yelp
This place was very nice and cozy! Service was very quick and friendly! I ordered the banana toffee latte, I personally didn't like it because the flavor of the banana was a bit too overwhelming for me but if you love banana, it's a much try! Another option I tried was egg biscoff brûlée and that one did make up for my first choice. It all depends on your personal taste and this place has lots of unique flavors coffee, matcha, milk tea, and brew tea! Definitely give it a go!
google avatar

Maggie O.

Yelp
One of my friends recommended this place since she had good experiences with the drinks here before and said the matcha tastes good. I ordered the Coco Matcha Pandan Latte - 50% sweet (this is normally what I get at all matcha cafes/places and it has never been an issue). I got the drink and it was really bitter and very watered down. I thought it was just me so I had my friends taste it too and they thought it was gross as well. I hate to be the person that sends stuff back but paying $9 for a watered down drink I had to. I would like to enphasize that Kenny was super nice and had the best customer service! I don't blame him at all in this situation. When I brought it up to the counter for a remake, he had me try it again with more of the cream mixed in and I told him it was still bad, so that's when a remake was given. I thought that was it, but the manager came out and made him bring the drink over to my table and make me try it again while she watched over the counter. I don't think that was necessary since it's not only an awkward experience for both the worker and customer but also shows the manager has no trust in her workers. The remade drink was so much better. Not that it should matter since the drink was supposed to taste like matcha regardless of the sugar level--but I asked them if it would help if the sweetness was increased to 75%. I was told to try it in front of the manager/worker again and once I confirmed it was good I headed back. Lots of tables for working and chatting and good vibes. Just weird/unneccessary situation with the whole manager needing to watch me drink it again before remaking.
google avatar

Janet R.

Yelp
This place was wonderful and you can tell that the drinks are carefully crafted with a lot of thought and intention. I got the flight because I was indecisive and wanted to test out multiple drinks and I love that they allow you to pick what drinks you want on their flight! I got their egg coffee, their tiramisu coffee, their pandan matcha and their banana matcha. My top contenders were their tiramisu and egg coffees and their pandan matcha! This place is a must go to.
google avatar

Chrissy B.

Yelp
Stopped by Em Coffee House in Mira Mesa recently and ordered the ceremonial matcha strawberry drink. It was pretty decent and I enjoyed the taste of the strawberry purée. I'm looking forward to trying other drinks here, though; their menu has unique flavors I haven't seen at other coffee shops in the area (which is a huge plus for me). That said, the interiors are stunning! The space is really cute and is currently decorated for the holiday season. There's also a decent amount of seating, making it a nice spot to cowork or study. It does get busy though so I highly recommend coming in before their peak times if you'd like to get a seat. Overall, it's a solid neighborhood café with a modern but chic atmosphere. It's worth checking out if you're nearby and are looking for a place to sit, work, or catch up with a friend!
google avatar

Christi S.

Yelp
So I've tried most things on their menu. I love that they release limited items from time to time and I love trying out new flavors. My absolute fav is the Matcha Einspanner. It's expensive, yeah, but I love the quality and packs a punch. The Pandan variation of it is alright, if you're into Pandan that is. My second fav is Egg Biscoff Brulee Cream coffee, it's strong and the biscoff is a nice touch to it. Biscoff gets soggy and dissolves into the drink and makes it taste nutty and caramelly in a way. The CocoUbe cream coffee is pretty good, I love Ube and I think it fits harmoniously with the coffee. I like drinking it without mixing it though, I find unmixing it tastes better. The cafe is packed with students so it's hard to find an open table to sit, so it's rather always to-go. They make orders super quick so that's a plus.
google avatar

Julie H.

Yelp
Trying out the new Smores Cloud Coffee Latte today. My coffee has to be strong with a good balance of bitter and sweetness. This drink was actually pretty good but IMO the Banana Toffee Latte is the tastiest so far. Creamy, not too sweet and tastes just like a banana nut muffin. Yum! Drinks are a bit pricey. Not something I can afford to get everyday but I do love how close to home it is for when I need a pick me up. Small but cozy, clean cafe with cute decors. Service is always good and drinks come out in a timely matter.
google avatar

Steven Y.

Yelp
One of the best coffee shops in Mira Mesa/ San Diego! They are some amazing selection of viet coffee, teas and food. They also have a rewards point like other coffee shops that you can to earn points. I tried several of their teas and their very taste!
google avatar

Yelp
I didn't know about this place but will come back more often. It's a nice break from the usual spots with Asian twist. I saw a lot of different things I wanted to try and their coffee was good.

Yelp
Been hearing a lot about Em Coffee House over the past year and finally got the chance to stop by recently. The interior is clean and modern. Love the blue and gold tones! BANANA MATCHA: My first time trying a banana matcha and I was intrigued by the concept. Good matcha flavor and the banana added a nice touch! The banana flavor is definitely strong though so just something to be aware of. HAM AND CHEESE CROISSANT: Saw some other reviews where people mentioned that their croissants were cold on the inside, but this wasn't the case for me. Mine was warm and gooey on the inside and hit the spot especially since I came by immediately after a run at Lake Miramar! Overall, a great spot for drinks and snacks. I'll have to come back to try their Vietnamese coffee and other matcha flavors.

Yelp
We came across this place on yelp and when we arrived we realized it took the place of the old Cafe 86 on Mira Mesa boulevard. We were craving some Vietnamese coffee and our drinks were so good we forgot to take a picture but we ordered the Pandan Cream Latte and the Ube foam latte which weren't on the main menu but featured in front of the cashier. There's plenty of seating to do some work or just hang out with a friend and it's very clean but this place can get pretty busy and therefore a tad bit load. Parking isn't that difficult because they share a pretty big lot with other stores. The service was great, they answered all our questions without any issues and were very informative. The coffee is on the stronger side but paired with the flavored foam on top it's great.
google avatar

Yelp
[Taste: ] Very authentic strong Vietnamese coffee flavors with very unique flavor combos! [Service: ] It's ok [Parking: ] Lot parking

Yelp
Love this coffee house! Been here a few times and orders have been consistent. My go to is the Marble Latte. It has strong coffee taste and not sweet at all. I would recommend getting it with the recommended ice level as it evens out the coffee taste perfectly without being watery. There's a decent amount of seating inside and great place to catch up with friends. Parking isn't hard to find as they share a huge lot with many other stores. Staff is friendly and helpful and they also have online ordering if you don't want to wait in line.
google avatar

Grace C.

Yelp
I went to em coffee to try their matcha einspanner and I was a bit disappointed. The photos made the drink look delicious but it was just ok. The price is steep for what you're getting. Their regular size for the einspanner is close to $9 plus $1 for oat milk plus extra for tip. So you are paying at least $11 for a small drink that is just ok. I got it 50% sweet and it tasted fine but the matcha flavor and creaminess that I was expecting from an einspanner was lacking. On the other hand their citrus lemongrass tea was outstanding! It was so refreshing and had a delicious flavor. I got that 50% sweet as well and it was perfect. 100% sweet would have been too much. I would come back just for that drink alone. I definitely need to try their other cold brew teas. The service was good and the interior of the shop was so cute. I loved the decor and everything was nice and clean. Overall a nice spot to try but I would skip the matcha and get their tea or try something else off their menu.

Yelp
Em Coffee House is a charming little Vietnamese cafe in Mira Mesa. The menu is very diverse, from strong coffee drinks to fruit teas. The interior is clean and has modern, sleek decor. (If it matters to you, parking wasn't difficult since there's a pretty expansive lot in front.) There is an ample amount of seating, making it an understandably popular spot to do work or socialize with friends. You walk up to the counter to order, and the drinks come out decently fast, even if there is a crowd. I didn't see the wifi password posted anywhere in the cafe, so I just asked a staff member when I needed it. DRINKS: Coffee Flight Tasting Set - This is an incredibly popular option, and you get to taste test four drinks from the menu. I let some friends have free rein to choose whatever four drinks they wanted, and we ended up with the Highland milk tea, banana matcha einspanner, hazelnut latte, and the cocoube cream coffee. I can't remember specifics about the tastes, but I know I enjoyed the experience. I'm sure you can't really go wrong with whatever you choose. Citrus Lemongrass Refresher (4.5/5) - A great summer drink option. It felt very light and refreshing. You'll taste the lemongrass, but it's not overpowering. Didn't adjust anything, and I thought it was a fine, bearable level of sweetness. Part of their summer series. SERVICE (5/5): Very hospitable team working at Em Coffee House. This place can get pretty crowded, but they work so efficiently to get the line moving. Drinks come out pretty fast, especially considering the number of people ordering the flights. TLDR// Great cafe to get some work done and/or hang out with friends. I've had a pleasant experience each time I've paid this place a visit. Would return for yummy drinks and a comfortable environment.

Yelp
the viet coffee was good, decently strong imo, and the egg cream on top added such a good sweetness and creaminess to the coffee. i rlly like egg cream on top and was taking sips of that before mixing it in with the drink! the only downside is that its kinda expensive for a drink like around $8, but if your craving viet coffee it's a good spot to try. they also offer a flight where you can try multiple drinks at a time!! yummyrating: 8/10

Yelp
Came here today with my 2-year-old and I couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. First of all, Jena the associate was wonderful to my child. She was warm and engaging and he quickly warmed up to her, which made the whole trip better. I got the ham & cheese croissant with the cà phê sũa đá, while baby got the bear waffles. All solid options and I have nothing to complain about. You can tell a lot of though went into the overall ambiance. The logo was beautifully designed and I loved the foresty/hunter green theme. You gotta love the consistency. I'll definitely be coming back!

Yelp
I was craving vietnamese coffee, so I came here. I ordered a super coconut coffee blast and my husband got the caramel macchiato. wow! the coconut coffee blast was really strong in a good way. My husband even said "whoa!". He never says that! I also ordered a bear waffle. The head of the bear has mochi texture. Then it tastes like there is a mozarella stick inside. You can choose if you want custard or cheese inside. When I got the waffle it tasted a little cold and there was not much cheese pull. I honestly ordered it because it was soooo cute. The vietnamese coffee flight looked cool to try for next time. This is a very busy place. lots of people studying here though. I don't know how they can concentrate! This place is to the right of seafood city. try it out!

Visited on a late Saturday afternoon. No line to wait in and only a few people hanging out or studying. My husband and I ordered a Banana Matcha Einspanner & Taro Einspanner. Our friend ordered a iced Vietnamese coffee. The banana matcha came out pretty nice. It didn't have the cream on top, but on the bottom which was different. I mixed it well and it was very banana forward and also thick. Really good but was not expecting it to taste along the line of a smoothie. Taro was good nothing special and the iced Vietnamese coffee was super strong. Will def keep you up at night. Service was standard. The Taro Einspanner, I think wasn't on the menu, but they were happy to make it bc my husband wanted a Taro version of the Einspanner. That was nice of them. The shop has a moody vibe and relax feel. Loved that it wasn't busy.

Yelp
My life BFF and I have found our newest guilty pleasure, which is coconut coffee. To satisfy our fix, we usually venture down the road to the Convoy District and visit Up 2 You Cafe to indulge in this addictive, caloric unfriendly beverage that we drink as often as we can. One deterrent from keeping us from drinking coconut coffee everyday was the distance and time it took to travel from our home. Unfortunately, that deterrent can be thrown by the wayside as we found an establishment within close proximity that serves coconut coffee and it was as delish as the cafe that introduced us to this beverage delight. Em Coffee House not only serves a version of our new favorite drink, but it also has a cool vibe to hang out and experience their other beverages and food offerings. Em Coffee House is located in Mira Mesa on the busy thoroughfare Mira Mesa Blvd. If you're familiar with where Seafood City supermarket is located, Em is located within this strip mall. This center will also have The Boiling Crab, RakiRaki Ramen, Manila Fastfood & Desserts, and Siam Nara. The coffee spot is in the middle between Seafood City and Sherwin-Williams Paints. There is a lot of parking at this shopping center. Where Em is situated, this building has gone through multiple businesses, so selfishly, we're hoping it stays Em Coffee House for a long time. As you walk through the doors, you'll notice the blue and white color scheme with two walls that have decorative blue bricks plastered on them. This is a spacious joint with plenty of tables, blue leather pull out chairs, cushioned benches, and floral decor throughout. There's even a corner set up with flora surrounding a small deer. The young man I interacted with at the counter was friendly, courteous, and was helpful answering my questions about the menu. Ever since we drank the coconut coffee at Up 2 You, we were in search of closer coffee houses that served this same drink, but we had not found any until Saturday evening. Since we were close to Mira Mesa, I told my wife that we should check out Em Coffee House because I saw on their Yelp page pics that they served a coconut coffee drink. When I got to the counter after looking at their menu, I asked the young man what were Em's most popular drinks. He pointed out four different drinks and I ended up ordering the Em Banana Toffee Latte and the Super Coconut Coffee Blast. The banana toffee latte is a Viet phin coffee latte with banana cream and toffee bits. The banana taste was identifiable and I enjoyed eating the toffee bits when the drink was almost finished. We finally found a coconut coffee drink that was comparable to our fave place for a dessert drink. Em's super coconut coffee blast is ice blended coconut coffee, coconut ice cream, whip cream, and coconut flakes. It was delicious, sweet, refreshing, and tasty at the same time. I had bought both drinks to share. The super coconut coffee blast was so yummy that my wife said next time we're buying two drinks instead of one to share. Yeah, that's how delish it was! I'm glad we don't have to travel all the way down to the Convoy District for our guilty pleasure. Instead of traveling 20-25 minutes away, we just have to travel 15 minutes to order our fave drink at Em Coffee House.

Yelp
Ordered Em Pandan Coco Latte here, their Viet coffee was indeed very strong, pandan cream topped off with coconut flakes was perfection! (5/5) Inside interior had lots of seating and very chic, modern feel. Intrigued by their other unique drinks!

Yelp
Em coffee house is a nice addition to this plaza! Their Vietnamese coffee is nice, smooth and strong. With so much variety in their type of drinks with some matches and teas as well. For me, the matcha is on the sweeter side which I don't mind. I love that they have different types of cream tops as well! I really enjoy their tiramisu coffee. The staff have always been pleasant and the service quick too :) I definitely recommend giving it a try

Yelp
This place has been on my list to try since they have unique coffees and drinks! I was feeling matcha rather than coffee and opted to try a pandan matcha. It wasn't on the menu, but I noticed it was displayed on one of the TVs. The pandan had a strong taste, but the matcha was lacking. It was also very grainy that made the drink not as pleasant.

Yelp
I am not a og San Diego person, but this place definitely hits right during a hot and humid day. We ended up getting a flight so that instead of trying only one drink, why not 4 unique ones! The Vietnamese iced coffee goes down the route of a strong caffeine experience unlike some cafes which go for a more rich and chocolatey taste, so I didn't enjoy it too much. The banana toffee latte was extremely good though, and you definitely get that strong taste of natural banana, so it's definitely a go to. The matcha here is slightly bitter, so if you want to taste the matcha and don't like sweet matcha drinks it's a good option. The pandan coffee just straight up tastes like pandan and that's it, so if you love pandan then that's the drink for you. The service here was extremely great! They waited for our dumb little heads to debate our order with each other, which was very nice of them.

Yelp
I loved my visit to Em Coffee House so much I had to order 2 drinks.. and I finished them both in 10 minutes. I ordered a Vietnamese Coffee with Ube Cream and a matcha, both were excellent, but the highlight of my visit was the Avocado Coffee I sampled from a friend. The dining area was very spacious but completely full on a Sunday morning.

Yelp
Came in on A Saturday afternoon and the tables were filled. We didn't have to wait long for our drinks. Service was quick. Ordered: * Ube Babe - Ube smoothie with Oreo crumbles. Kids really enjoyed it and said it tasted like a milkshake. * Em Banana Toffee Latte - It was delicious. Not too sweet. You can still taste the strong Viet coffee but have a hint of banana flavor with real banana piece and toffee bits. * Ube Coco Latte - My husband liked it a lot. Good ratio of ube foam with a hint of coconut and Viet coffee. Parking can be a little bit difficult when the shopping complex gets busy.

Yelp
I came here on a Sunday afternoon looking for a chill study spot. I ordered the Em Banana Toffee Latte, and it was delicious. There's a variety of unique, flavorful drinks available at this establishment. My drink came with dried bananas and toffee crumble. They range on the more expensive side, but they're not drinks you'd find at your average coffee chain around the corner. I felt that the music was a tad bit too loud for this cafe to be a regular study spot for me. However, I would come here to grab a sweet treat and chat with a friend.
