Vietnamese Cafe Em Coffee House Opens in Mira Mesa | Eater San Diego

"Opening Monday, November 18, this new cafe in the Mesa Town Center complex in Mira Mesa was conceived by Nick Truong, who also runs multiple San Diego outposts of bubble tea chain Ding Tea. Born in Vietnam and raised in the U.S., Truong and his wife Li, who frequent cafes together during their trips back to Vietnam, named the shop after a term of endearment in Vietnamese. Using coffee and espresso beans sourced from Vietnam exclusively, the menu includes classic beverages like cà phê sữa đá (Vietnamese iced coffee) and bạc xỉu (which has a higher proportion of milk); the coffee, brewed in a phin filter, is also the basis for creations such as the Trufflemisu—topped with a ladyfinger and white chocolate truffle cream—the CocoUbe made with coconut ube cream and toasted coconut, and the Tropical Tonic that mixes espresso, tonic water, and fresh fruit. It will also offer matcha and milk tea drinks, flights featuring smaller tasters of signature concoctions, and pastries and other desserts like mochi waffles. Truong, who is already planning to open a second location as part of Zion Market’s redevelopment in Kearny Mesa, tells Eater that he is looking to expand the cafe to other areas in San Diego including UTC, Fashion Valley, and Mission Valley." - Candice Woo

Nice place for studying and strong Vietnamese coffee. I love their bear waffle with custard. I tried their egg biscoff brûlée drink today and it was way too sweet. Not sure if I like it. Got a bunch of custard waffle bears though!

Google
Friends got the coffee flight with Viet iced coffee, milk tea, super coconut, and white truffle misu to share. Personal drinks were biscoff egg coffee and pandan cream. I personally really like the basic ca phe sua da and the super coconut ice cream from em creations; the milk tea was ok and the white truffle misu was too creamy for me. Would probably skip the coffee flight or any creamy drinks and just go for the basics next time. Viet iced coffee is best! ☕️

Google
This is NOT a review of the drinks, because I didn’t order one. The coffee shop is clean and tucked away in a plaza that isn’t too busy, although when I went on a random Tuesday morning the coffeeshop was still crowded. There are enough small tables, but nothing suitable for large groups. The place is nice and well-lit, and the barista is friendly and the WiFi is fast. The WiFi speed is about 400 Mbps down and 8 Mbps up. There are power outlets along the wall, and parking is easy to find. The bear cheese thing was also pretty tasty, which is what I ordered. Since I didn’t order coffee at a coffee shop, this is kind of a footnote to me. Maybe I’ll come back and try the coffee sometime!

Google
Ordered the Iced Caramel Macchiato and it costed me $6.73. Too much milk taste and not enough coffee. Inside looks pretty good but all available seats and table are dirty. Overall, price isn’t bad and coffee is decent. I wish they would clean the tables.

Google
Honestly my first time here because a coworker recommended this place. While the atmosphere is great and amazing, I can’t justify paying nearly $8 for a 16oz refresher just for them to fill up half the cup with ice and doesn’t fill the cup up to the rim and left 3 inches of space of the cup. Also I ordered a cheese danish for $5 as well which is way overpriced. Total came out to over $14 for something I could have gotten at Starbucks or anywhere else for half the price. I honestly don’t understand how they can charge these crazy prices for coffee and teas. It’s hard to come back when I feel like getting ripped off

Google
Had a delightful experience! So many good options it’s hard to choose. The menu location isn’t the best placement. But the person at the counter recommended the white trufflemisu and it didn’t disappoint! Cute decor. Spacious and clean indoor seating. No line when I went Sunday morning @9:30. Ample parking. Definitely worth checking out if you like Vietnamese coffee!

Google
I love how unique the coffee drinks at Em are! Their coffee flight is a great way to try their big hits, but my favorite is the Pandan Cream Coffee Latte. Can't wait until my next visit!

Google
Em took over Republik! It’s now a Vietnamese coffee shop with beautiful seating inside. Its velvety blue and gold vibes make the place seem elevated! It shares the same parking lot as Seafood City. There is a giant menu on the wall, but they had QR codes for an online version. This was helpful because I could check their offerings while I was waiting in line. On a Monday morning, I found myself leaning toward an egg coffee. However the closest thing on the menu was the egg biscoff. The server offered to remove the biscoff to just get an egg coffee, but there was no price adjustment. I also got an almond chocolate croissant. The first bite tasted so good warmed up. Then, to my surprise, there was almond paste in the middle, instead of shaved almond slices. I don’t think I’d get that again because I am not a fan of sweet almond paste. Credit card and Apple Pay is accepted! (However it doesn’t code as “dining”. Just an FYI for people trying to make use of their credit cards.)

Yelp
the drinks all sound very good and there is a lot of seating here. it seems like a nice place for people to work and study and it's very busy

Darnell C.

Yelp
Absolutely love the decor. the chairs are so comfortable to sit in and the music is not loud at all. 10/10 would do again send a friend!

Youran L.

Yelp
Ordered pandan cream latte. Cream top Tasted like plant based cream. The pandan also Tasted artificial.. I've tried pandan latte in another city made from natural pandan, which is supposed to be a softer and natural flavor. Ice cubes are good. I don't think it's worthy 7.15 dollars.

Yelp
We came across this place on yelp and when we arrived we realized it took the place of the old Cafe 86 on Mira Mesa boulevard. We were craving some Vietnamese coffee and our drinks were so good we forgot to take a picture but we ordered the Pandan Cream Latte and the Ube foam latte which weren't on the main menu but featured in front of the cashier. There's plenty of seating to do some work or just hang out with a friend and it's very clean but this place can get pretty busy and therefore a tad bit load. Parking isn't that difficult because they share a pretty big lot with other stores. The service was great, they answered all our questions without any issues and were very informative. The coffee is on the stronger side but paired with the flavored foam on top it's great.

Yelp
Food - good variety of pastries similar to costco bakery items. Drinks - deeeeelicious. Pro tip: Make sure to ask which ones have the most caffeine content to get bang for your buck. Service - fast and efficient. Parking is easy, bathroom is clean, and plenty of seats. Ambiance - more conducive for catchup dates, not for studying. Plenty of space and seats, cute decor.

Yelp
what i ordered | house milk tea taste | strong green tea flavor and very creamy, great portion as well service | server was nice and explained some of the drinks / drinks came out quickly parking | plaza lot notes | definitely order light ice for your drink

Yelp
The coffee here was pretty strong. I liked the ube coffee. The prices were decent and the place was pretty clean. There were a lot of people chillin on their laptops or devices. The workers were friendly.

Yelp
I went to em coffee to try their matcha einspanner and I was a bit disappointed. The photos made the drink look delicious but it was just ok. The price is steep for what you're getting. Their regular size for the einspanner is close to $9 plus $1 for oat milk plus extra for tip. So you are paying at least $11 for a small drink that is just ok. I got it 50% sweet and it tasted fine but the matcha flavor and creaminess that I was expecting from an einspanner was lacking. On the other hand their citrus lemongrass tea was outstanding! It was so refreshing and had a delicious flavor. I got that 50% sweet as well and it was perfect. 100% sweet would have been too much. I would come back just for that drink alone. I definitely need to try their other cold brew teas. The service was good and the interior of the shop was so cute. I loved the decor and everything was nice and clean. Overall a nice spot to try but I would skip the matcha and get their tea or try something else off their menu.

Yelp
Em Coffee House is a charming little Vietnamese cafe in Mira Mesa. The menu is very diverse, from strong coffee drinks to fruit teas. The interior is clean and has modern, sleek decor. (If it matters to you, parking wasn't difficult since there's a pretty expansive lot in front.) There is an ample amount of seating, making it an understandably popular spot to do work or socialize with friends. You walk up to the counter to order, and the drinks come out decently fast, even if there is a crowd. I didn't see the wifi password posted anywhere in the cafe, so I just asked a staff member when I needed it. DRINKS: Coffee Flight Tasting Set - This is an incredibly popular option, and you get to taste test four drinks from the menu. I let some friends have free rein to choose whatever four drinks they wanted, and we ended up with the Highland milk tea, banana matcha einspanner, hazelnut latte, and the cocoube cream coffee. I can't remember specifics about the tastes, but I know I enjoyed the experience. I'm sure you can't really go wrong with whatever you choose. Citrus Lemongrass Refresher (4.5/5) - A great summer drink option. It felt very light and refreshing. You'll taste the lemongrass, but it's not overpowering. Didn't adjust anything, and I thought it was a fine, bearable level of sweetness. Part of their summer series. SERVICE (5/5): Very hospitable team working at Em Coffee House. This place can get pretty crowded, but they work so efficiently to get the line moving. Drinks come out pretty fast, especially considering the number of people ordering the flights. TLDR// Great cafe to get some work done and/or hang out with friends. I've had a pleasant experience each time I've paid this place a visit. Would return for yummy drinks and a comfortable environment.

Yelp
I was craving vietnamese coffee, so I came here. I ordered a super coconut coffee blast and my husband got the caramel macchiato. wow! the coconut coffee blast was really strong in a good way. My husband even said "whoa!". He never says that! I also ordered a bear waffle. The head of the bear has mochi texture. Then it tastes like there is a mozarella stick inside. You can choose if you want custard or cheese inside. When I got the waffle it tasted a little cold and there was not much cheese pull. I honestly ordered it because it was soooo cute. The vietnamese coffee flight looked cool to try for next time. This is a very busy place. lots of people studying here though. I don't know how they can concentrate! This place is to the right of seafood city. try it out!

Yelp
Love this coffee house! Been here a few times and orders have been consistent. My go to is the Marble Latte. It has strong coffee taste and not sweet at all. I would recommend getting it with the recommended ice level as it evens out the coffee taste perfectly without being watery. There's a decent amount of seating inside and great place to catch up with friends. Parking isn't hard to find as they share a huge lot with many other stores. Staff is friendly and helpful and they also have online ordering if you don't want to wait in line.
google avatar

Yelp
Visited on a late Saturday afternoon. No line to wait in and only a few people hanging out or studying. My husband and I ordered a Banana Matcha Einspanner & Taro Einspanner. Our friend ordered a iced Vietnamese coffee. The banana matcha came out pretty nice. It didn't have the cream on top, but on the bottom which was different. I mixed it well and it was very banana forward and also thick. Really good but was not expecting it to taste along the line of a smoothie. Taro was good nothing special and the iced Vietnamese coffee was super strong. Will def keep you up at night. Service was standard. The Taro Einspanner, I think wasn't on the menu, but they were happy to make it bc my husband wanted a Taro version of the Einspanner. That was nice of them. The shop has a moody vibe and relax feel. Loved that it wasn't busy.

Yelp
Ordered Em Pandan Coco Latte here, their Viet coffee was indeed very strong, pandan cream topped off with coconut flakes was perfection! (5/5) Inside interior had lots of seating and very chic, modern feel. Intrigued by their other unique drinks!
google avatar

Dennis N.

Yelp
I am not a og San Diego person, but this place definitely hits right during a hot and humid day. We ended up getting a flight so that instead of trying only one drink, why not 4 unique ones! The Vietnamese iced coffee goes down the route of a strong caffeine experience unlike some cafes which go for a more rich and chocolatey taste, so I didn't enjoy it too much. The banana toffee latte was extremely good though, and you definitely get that strong taste of natural banana, so it's definitely a go to. The matcha here is slightly bitter, so if you want to taste the matcha and don't like sweet matcha drinks it's a good option. The pandan coffee just straight up tastes like pandan and that's it, so if you love pandan then that's the drink for you. The service here was extremely great! They waited for our dumb little heads to debate our order with each other, which was very nice of them.
google avatar

Yelp
I loved my visit to Em Coffee House so much I had to order 2 drinks.. and I finished them both in 10 minutes. I ordered a Vietnamese Coffee with Ube Cream and a matcha, both were excellent, but the highlight of my visit was the Avocado Coffee I sampled from a friend. The dining area was very spacious but completely full on a Sunday morning.
google avatar

Dary P.

Yelp
Came in on A Saturday afternoon and the tables were filled. We didn't have to wait long for our drinks. Service was quick. Ordered: * Ube Babe - Ube smoothie with Oreo crumbles. Kids really enjoyed it and said it tasted like a milkshake. * Em Banana Toffee Latte - It was delicious. Not too sweet. You can still taste the strong Viet coffee but have a hint of banana flavor with real banana piece and toffee bits. * Ube Coco Latte - My husband liked it a lot. Good ratio of ube foam with a hint of coconut and Viet coffee. Parking can be a little bit difficult when the shopping complex gets busy.

Yelp
I came here on a Sunday afternoon looking for a chill study spot. I ordered the Em Banana Toffee Latte, and it was delicious. There's a variety of unique, flavorful drinks available at this establishment. My drink came with dried bananas and toffee crumble. They range on the more expensive side, but they're not drinks you'd find at your average coffee chain around the corner. I felt that the music was a tad bit too loud for this cafe to be a regular study spot for me. However, I would come here to grab a sweet treat and chat with a friend.
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
Unfortunately after trying their viet coffees a few times, the viet coffee base has been inconsistent and sometimes too acidic tasting. I no longer recommend this place as my favorite viet coffee shop in San Diego.
google avatar

Christina H.

Yelp
Super cute little shop, seems to be a pretty popular study spot. Busy, but plenty of seating. Love the decor and ambiance! Got a banana toffee latte - something new and refreshing
google avatar

Carla K.

Yelp
Really comfy and clean cafe. It's super spacious with lots of nice seating and a ton of people were working on laptops on a Sunday morning. The music was good and the baristas were super friendly and accommodating. The menu had unique drinks you don't see everywhere. There was a line but I took that as a good sign. It was worth the wait for sure!
google avatar

Sophia H.

Yelp
This place has been on my list to try since they have unique coffees and drinks! I was feeling matcha rather than coffee and opted to try a pandan matcha. It wasn't on the menu, but I noticed it was displayed on one of the TVs. The pandan had a strong taste, but the matcha was lacking. It was also very grainy that made the drink not as pleasant.
google avatar

Yelp
Conveniently located in Mira Mesa in a little strip mall Em Coffee House might look like a regular store from the outside but is beautiful once you walk in. The interior is tranquil and serene and even though it was very crowded when we went it was very quiet some how. My daughter got a tasty banana foam iced cold brew and I got the white chocolate tiramisu like iced coffee. Both were very good. Mine had condensed milk but I opted to make the coffee a little stronger with less milk. It was strong but good (even had a little lady finger on top). They also have plenty of food items and snacks to choose from (the bear waffles were very popular and cute). The staff was friendly and welcoming and our drinks were made fairly quickly for as busy as it was. Pricing is reasonable compared to other coffee shops and we like the fact that there is a variety of coffee and tea drinks to choose from. Can't wait to go back and try something else.

Yelp
I love this coffee shop! It's tucked away in the corner parking lot next to a paint shop. When you walk in, decor is cute. The furniture looks modern & almost gives it a luxe vibe. They offer a QR code right at the door upon entry. Around the area where you pick up your order, there's extra condensed milk you can add if it's not sweet enough to your liking. Love that! I see a lot of people study here too which is nice. Ube Vietnamese coffee- I love a good classic Ube coffee. The coffee is bold with a nice sweet ube to balance it out Pandan Coffee-This was good, but expected it to be more sweet with a strong Pandan taste. I didn't taste much Pandan which was a let down, I think it would've been a 10/10 if the Pandan flavor & aroma was more present Banana Toffee Latte-This was surprisingly REALLY good. I don't care much for banana flavored things, but this was amazing. The banana smell & aroma was strong, I could really smell & taste it. The toffee crunches are what really has me in a chokehold, I'm obsessed! Egg biscoff brûlée cream coffee- Delicious! The egg makes it so creamy. If you like biscoff, you'll love this one I saw that they released some summer drinks a couple weeks ago, so I'll be back to try the new items.

Yelp
Tried the sky peach drink. It was good but 3/4 of the cup was ice... $7 for ice with a some tea is a bit much

Yelp
Came here late night with my brother and tried several of the coffees. I've been wanting to come here for a while now since I love Vietnamese Coffee. The interior felt royal, with dark blue, gold, and black. There's a splash of color with fake cherry blossom plants and some greenery. They have lots of menus (tv screen type, printed and laminated, and more). If all the specials could be written out rather than on a tv screen that moves a bit too fast, that would be great! I ordered: - $7.25, Iced Cocoube Cream Latte: this one was SOOO good! The ube cream was perfectly sweetened which balanced out the deep and strong flavor of the Vietnamese coffee. The drip and condensed milk was so creamy just like Vietnamese coffee should be. I did get notes of coconut which was super yummy. I think they could even offer in the future to make their Vietnamese coffee with coconut condensed milk that way even lactose intolerant/vegan ppl would be able to enjoy this! The toasted coconut bits were so good. I recommend not mixing it tooo much because you do really want to get a sip of the coffee and a sip of the cream. Once you mix it, it doesn't have that sweet strong balance and the cocoube flavor gets lost. -$7.25, Iced Banana Toffee Latte: I didn't like this one because the coffee tasted light and thin, like bac xiu. If they used the coffee base from the cocoube drink, I think it would taste better. The toffee flavor didn't come through as much until you got a piece of it from the top. The banana was more of a runny blended mixture on top. So when you sip it, it's not as pleasant. I love banana flavored in my coffee but the execution wasn't the greatest. - $8.25, Iced Strawberry Matcha: My brother said the strawberry purée was really good and all together the drink was nice. The price is a bit on the expensive side so he wouldn't order it again. For 3 drinks total was $22.75... that's a bit of a splurge! I love Vietnamese coffee but the pricing is what would make me come less often compared to other coffee spots. What's nice though, is that they are open till late night ~ 10pm! Next time, I do want to try their Pandan Coco Cream Latte!
google avatar

Erin T.

Yelp
Cute coffee place!! My friends and I came here on a Saturday morning and it was pretty crowded! The line went fast though. I got the banana matcha einspanner. I do wish the matcha latte was a bit creamier but overall was good! I got the ham & cheese croissant. The croissant was delicious but the cheese wasn't melted enough. The inside was cold still and still had the shape of a blocked cheese. Overall a cute trendy shop! Maybe next time I'll try one of those flights to try different lattes.
google avatar

Devyn M.

Yelp
As you can see, I took multiple photos of this coffee, trying to get the perfect angle to show how pretty this drink was. I ordered the Em Cocoube, and it was really good. The coffee itself wasn't too sweet, but it was strong. The Ube seemed to be whipped and sat on top of the coffee, so I did have to mix it quite a bit to have it blend in. I like that. It wasn't too sweet, but definitely gave me the kick I was looking for. I definitely want to come back because there is a coffee flight on the menu that I would love to try, and there are plenty of spaces to sit and enjoy the ambience
google avatar

Jamie F.

Yelp
Swung by on a weekend afternoon and the shop was very busy. If you can find a table, the shop is perfect for studying, but does heat up due to the sun directly hitting the windows and crowds. Surprisingly, there were no lines for ordering and the flight was perfect to try their drinks. I would recommend the pandan coffee and any of their matcha drinks if you prefer less sweet options.
google avatar

Christine T.

Yelp
Super happy to see more egg coffee places pop up around SD, but I don't think this would be my go-to spot for Vietnamese coffee. The first time I tried Em was last month, and I got the Em Egg Biscoff Brûlée. I think it was more flavorful that time I ordered, because this time, our drinks were kind of bland. Well, the creams on top were bland. We got the - Em Coffee + Em signature egg cream and - Em CocoUbe (coconut ube cream top with toasted coconut flakes) In hindsight, the Em Coffee + Em signature egg cream combination looked like just the Em Egg Biscoff brûlée (Egg cream brulée top with biscoff) because there was a Biscoff cookie on top lol. The cream tops were aesthetically nice, but bland in flavor. I tried the coconut ube cream top and then the egg cream and they tasted the same, or... no different? The ube cream did not have any particular flavor, ube, coconut, or otherwise. The egg cream top was similarly flavorless. Phin drip milk coffees tasted okay, but did not stand out. Drinks came out quickly. Cafe is cute, with some outlets against the booth seating, from what I can remember. I'd recommend coming early if you're trying to find a spot for prolonged studying/working, or have your study/work buddy come early to nab the spots.
google avatar

Shannon J.

Yelp
We got the banana toffee latte and the trufflemisu. The sweetness couldn't be adjusted but both were tasty!
google avatar

Alyssa N.

Yelp
Super happy that I have a quality matcha place so close to where I live other than matcha maiko in Mira mesa! The shop itself is next to seafood city so the parking lot is very crowded. We visited on a Saturday morning and there was no wait to put in the order. The shop is small and clean. We ordered 1 strawberry matcha and 2 regular matchas. Theres lots of seating if you want to do work or visit with friends! Our order came out quickly. The drinks are the perfect green and they taste really high quality. I would visit again if I ever need a matcha fix!
google avatar

Ro N.

Yelp
I got the banana toffee latte it was good, the order process was quick the coffee came out quick. I wish it was a little stronger but that's on me I should have got a second espresso shot. All in all good spot.
google avatar

Emma J.

Yelp
Em is vibey and cute! This is a really pretty space. The dark walls and pops of cherry blossom give it a warm and inviting energy. This is a great spot to meet a friend. The menu is expansive & everything looks delicious, that it's tough to decide. I went with the Egg Biscoff Brûlée and it was decadent and amazing! I love that coffee strength and sweetness can be adjusted. Vietnamese coffee is strong! But there's ways to make it more enjoyable if you're sensitive to caffeine.
google avatar

Haley T.

Yelp
This place may be taxed but I'll keep on coming back because their drinks just hit so hard after a night out. My boyfriend got the banana toffee latte and I got the banana matcha. Both were super good and had just the perfect hint of banana flavor. We also got a ham and cheese and chocolate croissant. I had to make my boyfriend go back though and make them heat up our croissants as we had requested them for to be toasted but they had forgotten. The cheese was barely melted and it was really just mid. Although there is a lot of seating, getting a spot here is a kind of impossible sometimes but if you can get a table, I would say this is the the perfect place to study!
google avatar

Jasmine C.

Yelp
Came here to try the pandan coco matcha. Tried the matcha by itself before mixing and it was pretty good. I didn't realize the pandan is a cream top and not pandan milk. It tasted better when you mix everything. The pandan was stronger so you do lose the matcha taste. It was a good drink but probably not something I would get often. The drink was expensive. Almost $9.
google avatar

Vivian T.

Yelp
Several reels later and news about Em Coffee House brought me over to this newest cafe that opened last Fall. I love Vietnamese coffee and have already tried 3/4 of their Em Cream Coffee series. My favorites in order were the Em Egg Biscoff Brulee, Em Vanilla Matcha, and the Em White Trufflemisu. The first time I visited they asked if I wanted the coffee strong or regular, and I opted for a regular since it was later in the day. If you know Viet coffee, you should know how strong the taste is! I'm wasn't impressed by their Ceremonial Matcha Einspanner. The matcha didn't taste creamy and wasn't giving off that vibrant hue of green that a nicely whisked matcha would. It had a grainy texture maybe from not being whisked enough. I didn't think the cream top went well with the rest of the beverage. It was priced higher, but the quality didn't match the price tag for me. Because we don't have too many options for Vietnamese style coffee with customized tops and cafes like these, I do like Em Coffee House, and they do have unique flavors that are all tasty. Have I had better elsewhere? Yes, but Em Coffee is pretty good for what it is and hopefully they stay consistent with their drinks.
google avatar

Kayla L.

Yelp
The cafe is super chill, with lots of seating and tables, and many people studying and talking. The matcha einspanner was okay in my opinion, the matcha flavor could've been stronger. The strawberry matcha was very good and the strawberries provided the perfect amount of sweetness. The pandan coco matcha was my favorite and it is so unfortunate that it is not a permanent menu item. The pandan and coconut flavor complimented the matcha so well and tasted so delicious!!

Yelp
Food: nice quality and similar price to surrounding areas Service: friendly server. Tried to accommodate our requests Ambiance: pretty aesthetics Seems like a good place to study. Pretty calm and quiet. Drinks were ready quickly.

Yelp
Located in Mira Mesa where Seafood City is. Use to be another dessert place but got taken over by this Vietnamese coffee shop. It is a little hidden since it's in the far end of the plaza. Overall, just a typical coffee shop with some flare to their drinks. Just wanted to try it out but to me it was ok. Nothing I can't make at home. But if you're in the area and need a pick me upper dose of caffeine, this is a good place to get your fixing.
google avatar

Tash A.

Yelp
THEIR COFFEE IS SO GOOD! I had their Vietnamese black coffee and added truffle cream on top. If you want to minimize your sugar intake and are okay with a slight bitterness, then get the coffee with cream on top. Service was very quick and they have plenty of seating. I was amped all day!
google avatar

Erica M.

Yelp
What a great spot for Vietnamese coffee! Every time I'm out of LA I look for coffee spots and I'm so glad they had this place in the area. The Vietnamese coffee is so good and you can order it STRONG. Hubs got the banana matcha einspanner, it was delicious. If you don't know what to get, there's a flight option for $23. So worth it bc you can pick ANY FOUR DRINKS on the menu. What a great option on the menu. The girls were nice and accommodating to our large order. The place is great to study, catch up with friends, or just take a moment to chill. Only downside was that it was kinda hot like the AC wasn't working.

Saleen M.

Yelp
Tasty Vietnamese coffee shop in Mira Mesa, next to Seafood City. This spot has been so many things in the past but I am hopeful that this place will succeed. They have a variety of delicious & unique flavors such as Em White Trufflemisu, milk teas, cold brew teas, affogatos, assortment of pastries & more. I love my coffee sweet & the ones here are not as sweet as I would like (a plus for many other coffee drinkers), but they do have a bottle of condensed milk at the counter to spruce up your drink. I definitely took advantage of that! They also do coffee flights! Super Coconut Coffee Blast: Probably their sweetest drink on the menu & I loved it! Creamy & so flavorful.

Yelp
I came here to study for a few hours and the chairs were very comfy and I loved the interior design of this spot! The barista was nice and helped me order the marble latte, which was a delicious classic Vietnamese coffee with whole milk. The coffee was very strong and the flavor was great! I liked how the menu lets you adjust your sweetness and if you'd like an extra strong coffee. The WiFi was good and the restroom was clean. I'd recommend this place as a study spot or if you want to try their unique coffee flight, only thing is it can be hard to find indoor seating sometimes.

Yelp
Em took over Republik! It's now a Vietnamese coffee shop with beautiful seating inside. I don't think I'd get that again because I am not a fan of sweet almond paste. Credit card and Apple Pay is accepted! (However it doesn't code as "dining". Just an FYI for people trying to make use of their credit cards.) (Also posted on Google Maps)

Yelp
I love the aesthetic of this coffee shop. The bar still is very informative on all of the drinks.

Yelp
The staff member at the register appeared uninterested in assisting us. Ordered the banana Matcha Einspänner, it's supposed to include cold foam, but it was served without it. Unfortunately, the drink I received was essentially just a matcha with banana slices, lacking the expected components.

Yelp
I've been looking for a good viet coffee spot in SD, and so far this wasn't it. Their Em egg Biscoff brulee coffee was decent and pretty strong, but not as good as places i'm used to in OC. So far it's better than other places in SD I've tried.

Yelp
My friend and I both ordered the Em Coco Ube Cream Coffee from the Signature Cream Coffee Collection. We both enjoyed our coffee. The bottom was brewed Vietnamese coffee topped with a layer of ube cream, a biscotti cookie, and toasted coconut flakes. I was actually in a mood for a hot beverage, but this drink was only available iced. The selection for hot drinks were very limited, and I think this is something Em Coffee House can work to improve. During cold weather, having a hot coffee is more appealing than an iced one. I will pass up on this coffee house for now while the weather is cold outside. I may consider coming back once it's warm out, or if they introduce more hot beverage options. The ambiance was nice and there were a good number of tables. We were fortunate to snatch one, so we were happy.

Yelp
Came here when I noticed a line of people outside as I was driving. Turns out it was the grand opening and they were giving away a free gift (a nice looking bag). It took about 20 minutes from outside to get to the front register and sadly they ran out of gifts about 4 people ahead of me. The inside is bit noisy as table are somewhat close together and it's usually packed with students doing work. The only major drawback I've found about this place is the drinks are rather pricey. Some drinks are over $8 which is kinda insane for San Diego but rent + utilities here are probably insane as well. Coffee - Ordered the Egg Biscoff Brulee. The drink itself is really good. Not the best viet coffee for me, but definitely still good. Service - The service has always been great here. The staff are always eager to help. The line goes by relatively quick and drinks are also made with small delay.
