14 Stellar Spots to Sip Wine in Vancouver and Clark County, Washington | Eater Portland

"Spanish wine and food are served at this neighborhood spot at Battle Ground Village. Here, purple-haired twentysomethings and gray-haired boomers in Tommy Bahama shirts sit on the patio to eat Spanish favorites like gazpacho, pan tumaca (tomato toast), and meat-and-cheese plates piled with goodies from owner Mar Meyerhoefer’s hometown of Madrid. Wine flights come with five small pours with choice of cava, white, rosé, or red, with selections from Spain and Southwestern Washington, as well as wine made by Emanar Cellars. Recent tasing menu pours include 2019 Granbazan Etiqueta Verde, a classic albariño with a crisp, citrus-y flavor as well as a 2016 Codice, a tempranillo from La Mancha with berry and spice notes." - Rachel Pinsky

I have been to Emanar Cellars twice. Both times it was to see the Moon Penny play. The staff is kind and the food is centered around Tapas plates to go with the wine. The bar is a bit cramped when a band is playing, but everyone makes do.

Google
Relaxing evening sipping our drinks beside the fire table and enjoying the charcuterie board. We ordered desserts as well and loved them. This is how a dining experience should be. Service and food both exceeded our expectations and we plan to return. 5/7. We went again today and it was ever bit as wonderful! We tried the stuffed dates and the frozen Sangria...yum! It was the perfect end to a work day.

Google
We had such a wonderful time wine tasting at Emanar Cellars! The wine was excellent, the food was absolutely delicious, and our evening was made even better by our incredible server, Kiri — she was friendly, attentive, and great to chat with. The owners were also so kind and welcoming. We were lucky to catch some live music that night — I wish I could remember the performer’s name, but she was fantastic and so entertaining. It truly was a perfect evening, and we’re grateful to everyone at Emanar for making it so special.

Super cute spot and perfect for date night! The food and wine are on point and the attention to detail is mind-blowing. The bar manager and owner are awesome and make you feel right at home. Can’t wait to try everything on the menu!

Google
A varied, extensive, and original tapas menu to go with the wine. It's a relaxed and charming environment, their presentation is artistic, and the staff is friendly. I'd like to see a few more GF tapas options.

Google
We really enjoy this place, I found this explanation of the name of the restaurant and it does explain the experience, great food, great everything. Emanar Emanar - Spanish for "emanate" which means to issue or spread out from a source. Think of the comfortable heat from a fireplace, the sweet smell and beauty of a flower in bloom, the invitation of coffee in the morning and the welcome home from good friends. "Emanar" also sounds like Mar and Richard's initials... M&R. That's Emanar. Feel welcome.

Google
Edited review November 2024 Such a wonderful place to meet friends, new or old. Relaxing atmosphere.. delicious wine, food and desserts.. our favorite place in Battle Ground Another wonderful birthday celebration at this local gem...great food, delicious wine, beer too. . We are so fortunate to have this wonderful gathering spot in the Village in Battle Ground. The hosts make everyone feel welcome and comfortable. Its so much fun to visit with a group of friends. Or go for a date night. We look forward to going again soon.... Thank you for your hospitality and great service.... So excited to see that you have music planned for many future weekends.. 👍

Google
I cannot say enough great things about this place, because it truly is great. From the atmosphere and vibe they give you of feeling at home, in a very elegant but down-to-earth envronment, to the incredible imported Spanish wines they have at hand, to their amazing tapas - nothing at this place will make you feel unwelcome. The staff is highly knowledgable of all their wine and food that they offer their guests, and not only do they have live music during the week, but they also have the friendliest owners in the whole city. But perhaps the greatest thing about Emanar Cellars, is not their wine, food or unbeatable hospitality - it could be their incredibly luxurious airbnb that they have upstairs. That's right. Need a place to stay after some great wine tasting? No problem. They have a 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath condo right there on the property. Just pay your bill, walk two feet from your table to the front door of the pad, and there you are. The condo features modern conveniences like three flat panal televisions, fully-equipped kitchen (including some snacks and drinks for the morning), and luxurious bedrooms with unbeatably soft mattresses and fluffy bathrobes. Yes. All of this being the case, you will not want to leave (because I didn't either) when you eat, drink and sleep at Emanar!

Yelp
The tapas here are always delicious and creative. Tonight we had a Potato Brailas and garlic shrimp scampi paired with a 2019 Pago De Los Capellanes (Tempranillo) from Spain. Dessert was a pear gazpacho with a glass of cava. Jodi, Richard and Mar were all on point as usual with excellent conversations and service. It was a quiet night, so the vibe was personal and comfortable. Perfect night in Battle Ground.

Yelp
We love going to this local establishment. Friendly, good service, excellent wine. We thoroughly enjoy the tapas as well. We look forward to our next visit.

Yelp
What a gem! Feels like an elevated neighborhood hang out! Warm, friendly staff and cozy ambience. The food was great and wonderful wine choices. We came for the Friday night live music, and had the best time.

Yelp
What a great little find! Nice atmosphere off the back streets of Battleground. Decent wine super nice selection of Spanish tapas (try the dates!) and a choice of two seating areas. Friendly staff knock it out of the ballpark.

Bianca B.

Yelp
Cute spot that focuses on Spanish wines and tapas. Loved the ambiance - very cozy, good service and music, and a mix of regulars and first-timers. We enjoyed a bottle of the Rioja tempranillo and had Spanish olives, the combo meat and cheese platter, and the Cajun shrimp. Everything tasted great! Will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Went to Emanar again last night for the music & wine. We were hungary so ordered a couple appetizers - the olives & dates, both were yummy. Always enjoy the ambiance here & Richard & Mar are fabulous !!
google avatar

Yelp
These folks know their vino! Tasted 3 and bought another. The owners and staffers know their stuff. Friendly, warm and no pressure atmosphere l. It's a bit outta the way, but worth the trip. Do it!

Yelp
Some friends are weekly regulars and insisted we try it out as I'm a big Sangria fan. Workers are active and give friendly and local pride in business. Food was wonderful and extra special in the quaint space. Definitely a must go to...I would go weekly if I didn't live in portland

Yelp
My husband and I had a delightful Friday evening at Emanar cellars, a beautiful little tapas wine bar that specializes in Spanish wine and food. The owners, Mar (who is from Madrid) and Richard, were friendly and extremely knowledgeable about everything they offer. We enjoyed two of their wine flights and then picked glasses of our favorites while feasting upon their tapas for dinner. The combo meat/cheese plate was full of flavorful items and it came with fantastic flavored olive oil and balsamic for dipping bread. The fondue was also filling and savory but our favorite was the stuffed dates.....so good we ordered a second helping! They came fresh and hot right out of the oven and we savored every bite. Overall, their selection of wine and food was abundant along with some very tasty looking seasonal favorites (mmmmm....homemade eggnog). They have live music on the weekends and create a lovely atmosphere with both the decor and their attentive service. If we lived closer, we would be frequent visitors. That said, if we ever find ourselves in the area again, it is a must stop location. The only downside (or I guess it could be an upside) is its location. It's slightly off the beaten path, a hidden gem; because if this place was anywhere near the heart of Seattle metro it would be jam-packed every night.

Teresa M.

Yelp
Great little spot to meet friends. Great wine and tapas Fun music and nice outdoor tables

Yelp
It's a lot of fun. Good live music and tasty wine to be had. It great for a quick date night.

Yelp
Very disappointed this evening. Went for a date night with my bride. They offer live music and Spanish wines and tapas. We were there at 5:30 PM, but we were turned away for a party of 28 that were expected.. I want to give this location another try at some point and I may change my rating, however I have some suggestions for management in the meantime. 1. You have limited seating and if you have large parties, you may want to consider closing for a private event. 2. Don't advertise on Facebook your live music at 6:00 PM on nights that are unable to accommodate walk ins. 3. Start a reservation system for everyone, so as not to disappoint.

Yelp
Great place for tapas and wine. Husband and wife owners put their heart into the place. Wife is from Spain, and you can tell the food is authentic. Husband knows his wine. Great ambience, even outside in the patio! Love it!

Allyson P.

Yelp
You have to stop in at this gem of a wine bar. The tapas are varied, well priced and amazing- try the meatballs. Spanish wines and outdoor seating in a quiet neighborhood make this a wonderful experience!

Yelp
The food, atmosphere, service, and music went beyond my expectations! I needed to unwind after a long week and they gave me that!

Yelp
Tremendous, hid-away, and satisfying does not begin to laud this unusual venue. Emanar Cellars is at the entrance of a condominium complex in Battle Ground's growing suburbs. Seating inside and out is both convivial and intimate. Tapas are astonishing in both their variety and delectable nature. My fellow guests enjoyed Spanish wines, but I was able to indulge in Estrella Beer which is rarely seen hereabouts. Staff was efficient, welcoming, and friendly. Highly recommended, but get there early; the place fills up rapidly. Many thanks! Sincerely, Andy & Donna Gregg, Vancouver, WA.

Yelp
Where to start. Emanar cellars is amazing! Mar and Richard clearly have so much passion for their business. They, along with their amazing employees pay attention to every detail. The food is amazing, and they plate it beautifully with the perfect silverware and plates. Finally got to bring my mom here Mother's Day weekend after eyeballing it for a while and it was such a wonderful end to the day. They have a $5 rose tasting flight for Mother's Day weekend, which was an amazing deal. Can't wait to come back

Yelp
I Think this place is adorable! I have nothing to compare it to since this was my first experience with Wine Tasting, but i thought it was really nice. Place is small less than 10 tables If i remember? So call ahead if you plan on going. the owners are very knowledgeable about the wine they serve and have good advice on what they think you'll like. I tried all Whites and my friend tried all the Reds - I never realized how much of a difference each wine had (as i said, first time wine tasting) I LOVED the Catalina Red and the 2015 Marques de Tomares excellence. Strong flavors. I did think they had some interesting ones as well, such as the 2015 Prinipe de Viana Chardonnay (personally it wasnt my thing) but it was aged in French oak with hints of smokey notes in it. Usually something you'd fine in a nice Bourbon , but in wine. I feel like it would be a good 'guy' wine if you drag your man here and he isnt much into wine. We also got a meat and cheese plate which had a nice variety and excellent pairing with the different wines. Id recommend for sure!

Yelp
Seriously. Have you ever read reviews and thought that other people are insane and that you were going to go in there and do a REAL review? I Read all the reviews before I came in here and I was honestly expecting to give them a three. These people are just so damn likable! They know their wine, they have been to the vineyard, they help with the grape harvest! We had the combo platter, it comes with 3 cheeses, dried fruits, breads, snack mix, chorizo and prosciutto. Everything is served with oil and vinegar BUT the vinegar is mixed with espresso AND the oil with orange, who does that? It was amazing! We did wine flights, he did white, I had red, that way we could try 14 wines! Again, it was wonderful. They serve each one with an introduction to it and space the servings out perfectly so you can relax and enjoy. I do have one criticism, not everyone has pets and you have to be extremely mindful of the details. There was pet hair on everything, all over the ground, the cushions and tables. You could smell that there was a dog in the building. If a pet lives or visits regularly, I understand it may be hard to control so be extra mindful of your cleaning. I knew from reviews there was a dog there and I dressed accordingly but I honestly did not tell my husband in advance because if he saw a dog he would not of allowed us to visit. It does impact your clientele. I am looking forward to returning! Check Groupon before you go.

Yelp
Very nice atmosphere, outdoor tables perfect for evening "happy hour". Great tapas options and Spanish wine offerings. Entertainment tonight as well. Very welcoming atmosphere, great service too!

Yelp
Came here last weekend for the first time and loved it. The hours are a little tricky with my schedule, but finally made it! I was not let down, the wine cost proved very reasonably. Kathy from pasta Gigi recommended my wife and I swing by. We are happy we did. Excellent wine inspired and created in Spain. Check it out! Next time we will try some of the food.

Lianna B.

Yelp
Wonderful, intimate, warm vive. Great wines (we tried the flight and had the owner choose for us) and delicious food.
google avatar

Ken T.

Yelp
Mar an Rick are the friendliest and most knowledgeable Spanish wine people in the region! Their selection of wines and their own private label wines are excellent! If you're looking for a change, you need to stop by this Battle Ground tasting room.
google avatar

Norm B.

Yelp
Hidden gem right here my wine and music peeps. Shhhhhhh, - just can't keep good peeps, service, wine, and music a secret for long. Sun City players might be the best wine/coffee bar duet around, just the right style for us. There's a lot of love and joy in this place, a must go to for fun, friends, and a dash of intimacy - prepare for cozy in the best of ways. Great job ! -

Yelp
First reason for the rare (for me) 5 star review: the owners are great! So friendly, personable, and fun. They personally introduced themselves, and both tended to our table with stories and banter. Second reason: bottle prices are very fair. There's not a huge markup. You're basically paying what you would at the actual winery (they carry many local wines), or liquor store. Other reasons: Cute tasting room with a friendly, inviting atmosphere. Tapas!! Bottles to go. And an adorable yellow lab greeter (watch dog), who enjoys a good back scratch and belly rub!

Nancy E.

Yelp
Friendly owners & staff, beautiful Spanish wine & Tapas. One of my favorite places to spend a Friday or Saturday night. I highly recommend Emanar's Cellars.

Yelp

Yelp
Five stars! This is a wonderful Spanish wine and tapas bar. The owners are warm and friendly and their dog Bailey came out for a visit too. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate. The wines were wonderful and we enjoyed being able to choose our own flight of red or white. We also enjoyed tasty snacks, bread with olive oil and balsamic and a delicious meat and cheese plate. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Just over a year ago we happened on Emanar as we explored the various wineries and shops participating in the Clark County Wine Passport. Since our first to Emanar I knew that this would be my go to place for delicious wine, friendly service, and a great atmosphere. Mar & Richard are genuinely friendly and warm to everyone that walks in the door. They make you feel right at home and like you are the top priority. We have brought several friends and out of town visitors who have also made this their go to place as well. I can't wait to see what the future has in store for them as they grow into the new space they are adding. Keep up the excellent work!
google avatar

Penny S.

Yelp
Lovely place. Staff is very educated on the wine and will explain each tasting. Go here and enjoy. Owners on site and they are fabulous.

Jo-Lyn J.

Yelp
Excellent wine! Such a cute gem of a place. The owners are such sweet people. They make you feel at home. Great wine selection as well. I recommend the Cava.
google avatar

Brianna B.

Yelp
I came here for the first time with a Groupon just last Saturday. My friend and I were the first to arrive upon opening. First of all, they have a dog named Bailey as their greeting committee. What?! SOLD! What a sweetheart that pup is But beyond that, the wines were tasty and the staff was so friendly! It's a small place but even as it filled up it never felt crowded. We had a combo platter with our wine tasting and it came with way more than I would have expected. I would definitely recommend this adorable place!
google avatar

Alexis P.

Yelp
Love this place! My gorgeous friend brought me here and it was a memorable and wonderful experience! From top to bottom, I want to bring my whole family back. The flights are just enough for a lingering taste. The tapas are impressive. Fondue....seriously

Yelp
My friend and I were in town for a wedding this last weekend and decided to stop here last minute on a Saturday night. It was a little rainy outside, which I heard is unusual for the area, but I'm glad it was because otherwise this place would have been packed! (For good reason!) Firstly, this eclectic little wine place is in a more residential neighborhood which really adds to its charm. We walked inside to a man playing live music (he was really good) and kind of looked around before finding a place outside under and umbrella. Our server, Kimmy, was so great and kind! She brought over a candle and snack mix and made recommendations based on our different preferences. What really stood out to both of us was the genuine kindness from everyone who worked there. You can tell when someone enjoys what they do. I believe I met the owner, but I don't remember his name. (Sorry!) If you're thinking about visiting this place -- do it! FYI They told us there is an Airbnb upstairs. I'm happy to know that for the future.

Aaron T.

Yelp
Super fun. Splurge for the Premium flight if you like old world wines. Also, gets the stuffed dates - they're amazing.

Joe G.

Yelp
We enjoyed the atmosphere and it was friendly and inviting and the wine's were very good, owners came around the tables and had a nice conversation. We've been back several times and never disappointed.
google avatar

Ronald A.

Yelp
This is a real treat located in Battle Ground. They serve wines in the Spanish style. We tried three before choosing one to drink. It was a hard choice; they were all good. The prices are very fair. They also serve tapas; the menu choices are small, but the two we tried were very good. Good friendly service. This is a real hidden gem.
google avatar

Katrina C.

Yelp
I loved the wine tasting The staff was absolutely amazing and extremely helpful I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to wine, but they knew what to offer me!
google avatar

Debbie M.

Yelp
Best wine bar in Battle Ground. The place has a beautiful atmosphere, lovely wines and the owners are the nicest people. 5 out of 5 from me!
google avatar

Belle P.

Yelp
This place is really lovely. Currently only open Thurs/Fri/Sat so make sure they're open before you come out. "Tapas" means small plates. They only serve cold plates right now - Spanish meats, cheeses, dried fruits, bread and pates. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. They have selections of their own wines plus a very nice selection of Spanish wines. This isn't a place you'd come to for a meal - but a nice snack with a glass of great wine. It's a great place to take a date. The owners are very warm and welcoming. We're definitely going to do our part to keep them in business - I hope you will all do the same.
google avatar

Erin C.

Yelp
Great & friendly atmosphere. Small space but they are expanding soon. Went on a date w the hubby & had a fun time. The owners know everything about the wines they serve & have a wonderful passion for what they do! Their sangria, both white & red, are delicious! Can't wait to try their own wines! Coming soon!
google avatar

David D.

Yelp
This is a cool little place in BG. Lots of wine for tasting and just a cute fun place. No reason to drive to Portland, just swing over to this place and have a little cheese and wine and then walk over to Northwood for a beer
google avatar

Rosella R.

Yelp
Such a great little place! The owners offer such a personalized experience. Quite the gem in Battleground!
google avatar

Brian R.

Yelp
This place is a gem! Cheap prices on tastings, and they love to talk to all the customers. Glass of wine and bottles are cheap but great wines! Come! Date night, hangout,
google avatar

Michelle G.

Yelp
Friendly, warm staff, good music and great wine! What more could you ask for? You simply must stop in to Emanar and say hi to owners, Mar and Robert. They'll make you feel right at home.
google avatar

Yelp
Outstanding, exquisite Spanish wines, wonderful music, fabulous tappas, the waitstaff & owners are gracious & welcoming, & Bailey is the sweetest puppy who adds to the overall ambiance! Come visit & feel welcomed & absolutely at home!

Yelp
The staff was knowledgeable and informative. The wines were great and reasonably priced. We also enjoyed our meat and cheese plate. Definitely plan on being repeat customers.
