At the Allison Inn & Spa, Siletz Chef Jack Strong Explores Native Food | Eater Portland

"At the Embarcadero in Newport, I followed Strong's early culinary steps: as a high-school job-shadow and early employee he learned to break down fish, sourcing cod directly from bayfront fishers and gaining formative hands-on seafood experience." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Awesome stay for three days to celebrate our 59th wedding anniversary. Room was great (excellent views of the Bay Bridge and Marina), service was the best we have had in a long time (special thanks to Jake) and pricing was very competitive. Within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants. And, of course, a visit to see the Sea Lions barking was a kick.

For almost $300 a night, this place just doesn’t add up. The bed was uncomfortable, the whole property feels pretty rundown, and honestly it’s more like a 2.5-star experience dressed up with a resort price tag. That said, it was August on the coast, so I guess you pay the tax. The one redeeming factor? The outdoor terrace with a view was lovely. Bonus for being dog friendly.

This is excellent hotel. Spacious rooms. Great view and great staff. I had a condo with separate bedroom and living room. Full kitchen with refrigerator, stove and microwave. Staff went out of the way to assist when I had a question. Great for anyone

Hot tub and pool were closed and we were only notified a week before. Too late to find another place but that’s the main reason we booked with Embarcadero. They offered discounted community pool passes but the times were limited and also, no thank you. Maybe if they were free. The apartment wasn’t stocked with dish soap or dishwasher detergent so we had to buy some to do our dishes. Other than that, the view is incredible, the rooms were nice and comfortable (besides not having AC - but we were aware of that when booking), the staff was nice and it was fun to have a dock to crab off of and cleaning/cooking station.

Pros: View from private deck Nicely furnished Kitchen stocked Location on bay Brooms in room, see below. Cons: Paper thin walls and ceilings, you can literally hear your upstairs neighbors fart. Their stairs are in the bedroom closet of my room. Our neighbors think it's fun to run up and down the stairs 46 times late at night and early in the morning. They're also very vocal with their bedroom activities. I Might need to wake up at 4 am and bang the ceiling with the broom for petty revenge, but if last night is an example, we'll all still be awake. Omg, we're so tired.

We had a one bedroom unit at the east end of the complex. Getting to the room involved going down one flight of stairs, then back up. I didn't care much, but you do have to carry your gear a bit of distance. Room was quiet, fully equipped, clean. Deck was private, blocked the wind, and had a great view down the bay. My only concern is that if you want to walk into town, it is about a mile to the shops. Not the fault of the place, and it gave me great exercise. Yes, I will likely come back. They offer full crabbing on premises. Private dock, crab pots, prep station and cooking equipment nearby. Cool place!

The entire property is huge and gorgeous! Our king unit overlooking the marina was perfect! The laundry facilities were wonderful to have but do note they close them at 10pm and there are no signs telling you this. We had to call the front desk to find out when our key didnt work to let us in to move our clothes from the washer to the dryer. They did send someone to help us but we had to leave our clothes overnight, which was not a big deal.

The Embarcadero in Newport Oregon is the only place I want to stay when I come to the coast. I used to come here when I was a little girl when my grandparents had timeshares and I love it here! The condos overlook the bay and you can’t beat the view. It is my happy place. My family wanted to try surfing, my husband even brought his guitar to play on the beach. The beds are incredibly comfortable. We’re coming back for New Year’s and also next summer. You won’t be sorry.
