At the Allison Inn & Spa, Siletz Chef Jack Strong Explores Native Food | Eater Portland

"At the Embarcadero in Newport, I followed Strong's early culinary steps: as a high-school job-shadow and early employee he learned to break down fish, sourcing cod directly from bayfront fishers and gaining formative hands-on seafood experience." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Very Poor Liked · I liked the old vintage vibe this property had. It was pretty clean from inside and had all the utensils you would need. We got an extra 20 mins at checkout to wind up our stuff and do basic cleaning. Disliked · Bad experience. This particular unit is C208 among the many units this vendor Vacasa has. 1) Pictures do not match Condo C208 we stayed in. The view from the apartment did not match what was in the pictures. You hardy see any water, just a few boats on the harbour. Neither was there a murphy bad as shown in pictures. Looks like they dumped pictures from multiple rooms they manage at this property and put them against C208, misleading people like me. 2) Property description mentions a Hot tub and heated pool. We were not notified that the spa facilities need repair and are not available. We would never have booked this place as "Hot tub" was one of the filters we used to book. 3) Basic questions require a multi-tier customer assistance service. A basic question would go to corporate team, who would funnel it to a local team who would defer it to a property manager.

I’ve been staying at this hotel for over 10 years, and my experience gets better every time. If you’re checking in, I highly recommend seeing Jesse he’s absolutely amazing. He knows how to talk to guests, makes you feel right at home, and consistently goes above and beyond to ensure a great stay. He’s one of the main reasons I keep coming back. I don’t mind paying a premium for service this good. Next year, I’ll be returning again for my wife’s birthday, and we plan to stay even longer so we can enjoy more of what the hotel has to offer. And don’t forget the crabbing dock it’s always a fun highlight of our trip! Thank you again, Jesse, for your outstanding customer service and for making our stay truly memorable.

Location is perfect if you want to enjoy a fabulous view of Yaquina Bay. My room was on the 3rd floor which provided a panoramic view of the bay and Marina - just what I wanted. The bed was a bit soft but comfortable. Several excellent restaurants within walking distance along the bay front or a very short drive. 10 min drive to Nye Beach for lovely beach walks or the Oregon Coast Aquarium which is a must see. Downside was WiFi was mostly non existent for watching evening movies on a tablet—TV was very old with poor quality.

This is a very nice resort. Right on the water at the bay. Old town on bay is a fun area to explore. There is a crabbing pier if your in the mood. All the other activities that you could imagine. Stay and enjoy this memorable gem. Rooms are dated but kept up nice.

Google
Kevin and Jessie made our stay much better because they offered to change our room. The marina side had a strong fish smell. There was a difficulty booking the free boat crabbing although the day had been changed and they couldn’t get me a email to register. Excellent location, and staff is friendly. Would recommend

Jesse the hotel manager was very rude to me. I stay at hotels all the time. When I arrived it appeared he was training an employee. Which was no big deal. He was even getting the employee behind the counters email. I waited he said of course we weren't busy then we were in the middle of this when you walked in. It took a bit. When he was finally finished to check me in. I handed him my ID so he could pull up my reservation (I have a hard last name) He said he needed the car make and model. I was like do they really check it's pouring out and he was like you don't know the make and model of your car very rude attitude. I was like I don't it's not my car. He said it was policy so I went out and got it. I took a picture because it's not a car I am familiar with. I showed him the picture. He was like an Audi what's the model what's the number next to it. I can't see very well so I said I don't know. I just handed him my phone because it had all the information he needed and was trying to make it easier so I could check in and get into our room. We were traveling from out of town and with family. We had had a wonderful Thanksgiving and his poor attitude was a terrible representation of your hotel. I was shocked to see as I looked at the business cards it appears he is the Jesse the Manager. I told him I really didn't appreciate the way he was talking to be and his attitude towards me. I never say anything and wasn't yelling or upset just letting him know it was rude. He told me I could go stay somewhere else. I didn't deserve to be treated rude or to have him say that to me. I got the information he needed and I am not sure if he was just upset for working on a holiday or just the way he normally treats guests. I would absolutely want to know if I owned the hotel or other potential guests. I already told my boyfriend he told his family, we told other guests. Other guests also had issues with him as well. Usually I am treated with kindness and professionalism at other hotels especially on holidays. A warm welcome would have been a really nice way to end a wonderful Thanksgiving 😊 I will be forwarding to the general manager and all platforms. I feel people other people will appreciate having better customer service from the front desk as well and especially from a manager. The hotel was very clean and it's a beautiful location. Thanks Jennifer Canclini |jennycanclini02@mail.com

Google
We had an amazing time staying there through VI Resorts. We went crabbing with the kids off the dock, and were able to cook and clean it right there before going back to our condo. The rooms were clean, and felt amazing to be in. Great memory for us!

Google
Had a great time with a beautiful room and great view of the bay. It was located so close to the historic Bayfront and we could hear the sea lions all the time.. the room service people kept things so clean and went above and beyond in making our 3 week stay feel more like home

Yelp
Well you get what you pay for. Yes, my expectations are always too high. And $135 is not much these days. King bed was comfortable and clean. Room was smaller than expected (12'x40' being generous) nice sitting chair including small triangle table and small desk and chair. Headboard was broken because. It was cheaply made. And the kicker and reason for post. No shower curtain and cleaning rags left behind. I have worked at nice hotels and 4 diamond resorts so I know the routine. Housekeeping/maintenance goes to get new shower curtain and at same time gets pulled to work something else. Bummer for me. Loved the TP flower! This is a Great place for Oregon Crab'n.

Yelp
The maintainers are very rude and unfriendly. I'm very disappointed. Every member of the team reflects the branding of the company where they are in the front desk or the maintenance crew. I don't think I will be returning and wouldn't recommend the place at all. I hope they are taught better customer service no matter where they work in the company.

Yelp
Used my timeshare reservation to book just one night and we wished we had stayed longer. Two bedroom suite was cozy and comfortable. Deep bathtubs were amazing and the beds were very comfortable. Only critiques were lack of air conditioning and the kitchen utensils could be updated- some were greasy and rusty.
google avatar

Yelp
Not sure about the other rooms but ours was amazing with a great view beautiful. on our patio was a small crab pot that we could use off the Embarcadero dock. Unfortunately, the pool and hot tub were closed so that was sad and there were no sheets for our Murphy bed or our hide a bed so we had to call and ask for those otherwise it would've been five stars...

Yelp
We were passing through Newport on our way up the coast and I was excited to stay at The Embarcadero for old times sake. When it was built a million years ago, we were owners of a one bedroom unit. It was a grand place and really well cared for. Imagine my disappointment to find the property in such disrepair. As we parked, we saw the broken down garage door, rotting from the ground up. Around the corner was the entrance to our room for the night with a stained piece of furniture with a missing cushion. At the door was a badly stained outdoor carpet and very worn door mats. The threshold was really beat up. Really bad 'curb appeal'. The good news was that the room itself was ok. The bathroom had been newly remodeled. The bed was comfortable. All good. The room was clean. We slept well. The main function of a hotel room met. At over $200 per night off season, It did not seem like a good value. With so many other options why stay there?

Yelp
UPDATE: Manager Paula called, gave us a significant discount and dismissed our pet fee! Happy Birthday to me! D216 has cockroaches living under the fridge and stove. Each year it just gets worse at Embarcadero. They're upgrading the exterior. Unfortunately, the interior is what really counts.

Yelp
We stayed here the weekend of Thanksgiving 11/29/24-12/01/24 and stayed in the King Suite Condo with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathroom full kitchen and living room. The room was nice and the view of the bay was beautiful, but had a few issues with the room. In the downstairs bedroom on the window side of the bed we found a large stain. The stain looked like pee or coffee, diarrhea, idk. We went to use the shower and had very weak pressure and the temperature kept going from very hot to ice cold with no consistancy. I used the crabbing dock and cought a couple of crab and went to go cook them in the crab cooking area and found out that the burners was not working and couldn't cook the crab. I was told by the staff member that I would have to come back in the morning to cook the crab that the burners might be wet and not wanting to turn on. When I went back in the morning to cook the crab, the crab was dead and no longer cookable and had to throw them away. When I went crabbing the next time, later on that day I ran out of bait and had to go get more. When I returned shortly after with more bait, one of my crab pots got stolen out of the water that was tied on the dock. I told the guy working at the front desk because apparently I was told by another guest that stays at the resort in the condos every month that it was the resorts policy that if something happens to a guests crab pot, they will pay to replace it. and the staff member at the front desk could care less. He told me that he rented some boats to some customers the same day and lost 6 crab pots due to strong waves carried them away. My pot was tied down on the dock not floating around on a buoy in the water on a boat. they have cameras all over the resort and Marina, but was too lazy to investigate the theft. That was just an excuse to use not to blame another guest for stealing and have to do something about it. We will probably not be returning to this resort until they start security enforcing what goes on down on the dock with the illegal activity, the resort gets remodeled and a better cleaning staff that don't put stained sheets on there beds. And better plumbing for there rooms. This is the second stay here with bad results on both stays. I wouldn't have came back after the first time we was here a month ago, But the manager brought us back to give it another try and still failed to please the customer! I contacted the resort manager Jessie Stephens and will post below what he said in response, along with the stained sheet we found on the bed.

Yelp
Update: as of this writing manager Paula has sent me a condescending email questioning the validity of my service dog and questioning my disability. Previous reviews mention the same problem happened to another guest and they were treated with respect, 2 years after the fact. I can't help but wonder if the discrimination is widespread and no one challenges Paula and that's why she's been "doing this for 35 years" Either way, this company has major culture issues if they felt Paula's email to me was anything but unprofessional and defamation of my character. This hotel charged me nearly $1000 illegal fees for my ADA-protected service dog and violated federal disability law. Complaint filed with DOJ and visa. Do NOT give them your visa!!! Pay cash only or avoid at all costs. Even time share owners had nothing good to say when we were there. Reviews say they're tweakers.... After the call from the manager today, I'd say her behavior was consistent with that type. Avoid!! Seriously gone down hill.

Yelp
There's always the uncertainty that comes with staying at a new place on a trip, but Embarcadero provided exactly what was advertised. The front desk staff were pleasant and knowledgeable with great food suggestions. The room provided all the comforts of being at home, but you can cheers your coffee at sunrise and wine at sunset overlooking the marina. Honestly it was like renting a townhouse and I didn't want to leave. It was clean and you can walk to basically anywhere you wanted to go. My only comment that's not a positive is that there wasn't air conditioning, but that is common for pretty much any coastal town. Thankfully they provided several fans for our comfort & the windows opened to enjoy the bay breeze. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
One of the best lodging places we have stayed at. Extremely quiet, very comfortable, extremely helpful staff and extremely accommodating, as my wife cannot walk up or down stairs. They booked us a room on the ocean front overlooking the marina and yaquina bay. Absolutely beautiful.

Yelp
Pool sucks. Don't come here. Their pool is small and don't have towels. Don't come here. Time to invest in new technology which is likely outdated. Your room key stops working if you place it near your cell phone. Had to go to the front office multiple times to fix it.

Yelp
Nice rental condos just west of the Newport Marina. Small rooms with great views. Ours was a bit warm and needed new carpeting but otherwise was fine. So, Embarcadero isn't a hotel with in-room amenities, but it's a sweet rental with great views and location. Yelper pro tip - The in-room coffee was nasty. All the coffee shops nearby are closed (COVID19?). Go up the hill to 101 and there's a great "Coasties Roasties" with delicious caffeinated drinks.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed here November 1st-3rd, when we booked here I was excited to hear they had a private crabbing dock. When we arrived at the crabbing dock it was full of unattended/ abandoned crab nets everywhere. We couldn't even crab there, we had to go off the property to go crabbing. Some people that was there said it was free to crab at the resort without a license because no one was there to enforce it or the size and sex of the crab. About the room: it was clean, but the bed not so comfortable. The wife and I had a hard time sleeping in it. About the indoor pool: it was nice and warm but the roof was leaking and the rain water was dripping in the pool. About the hot Tub: the wife and I was excited about going in the hot tub but when we arrived there was a couple in the hot tub fornicating with each other and the wife and I decided not to use the hot tub. I did not use the other amenities on the property such as the Sauna, fitness center, restaurant, ect. The wife and I are coming back to Newport in about a month. I think we are going to look for other accommodations elsewhere.

Yelp
Whatever you do, don't take room I (as in igloo) 422. We are over the laundry room and propane fumes from the dryers is flooding into our room. We have to keep all the windows open, so as not to be gassed out. They won't shift rooms for us because they're busy and we're just gonna have to lump it and spend a little time as possible in the suite.

Yelp
Clean and spacious room. We love the view from our balcony. Attention to details, quick service. There's a designated area to cook crabs. Nice little gym and pool.

Marilee L.

Yelp
This was our second stay at this Hotel...so happy we could get a last minute room. We were able to walk right out the back door down to the docks to see folks crab fishing... down the street for a cold beer at Rogue Brewing hit the spot. Will always stay here when we're in the area..

Yelp
Awful. Absolutely awful. me and my boyfriend had a reservation set in august for our anniversary that we placed weeks before and once we drove the 2 hours down there the lady at the front desk i think her name was Kim told us that we couldn't stay there because we weren't 21 and they had just implemented an on site bar and was being incredibly rude. Keep in mind that i scoured the entire website multiple times and it said nothing about a bar, i just checked and it said they added a new "restaurant", but it didn't say that back in august. Me and my family have come here every year for the past 15 years, Needless to say we'll be finding somewhere else to be spending our vacations from now on.

Yelp
This place is a dump! Some people live here, some people use a point system like a time share. Two different companies run this place. The guy above us decided to do construction all weekend. The front desk couldn't do anything so we then went off site the other rental company and they pretty much told us we were screwed. And we were. Water damage to the unit ceiling, the bedroom blinds were to small so the light came through. Parking lot is full of potholes and junkyard work trucks. A HUGE disappointment!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Lovely bay front property with views of the bridge and bay from all rooms. The room was quaint and cozy with decor that fit perfectly. Surprisingly our unit not only had the usual microwave/ mini fridge it had a hot plate and all the cookware we needed for a freshly caught crab dinner, which we were able to catch and cook on the property's private dock ( you can rent the equipment at the front office) while soaking in the hot tub nearby. The pool is ADA accessible and large. Great family vacation spot.

Yelp
One Word: CRABBING!! This place has its own Crab Dock!! Located right on the waterfront the Embarcadero Resort Hotel & Marina has its own private dock, providing you ample opportunity for Crabbing. The views of the Yaquina Bay from the dock are amazing, scenic sunsets despite the freezing cold. Even more impressive is the Crab Boil station next to the dock entrance / exit. Heavy duty gas boilers with a Commercial kitchen sink for cleaning and rinsing as well...Brilliant! This was the first time I went Crabbing in the Pacific North West and didn't know what to expect. We cut up some chicken, tied it to the nets and tossed them in the water. Simple. Evey 10 minutes or so we reeled them in with Crabs almost every time! Unfortunately we weren't able to keep any of the Dungeness Crabs we caught since they were smaller that the regulations allowed, which I believe is strictly enforced. I was told Summer is the better season for Dungeness Crabs. Instead we picked up enough Red Rock Crabs. The Red Rocks don't have as much meat, and was a struggle to extract all the meat. I would give Embarcadero a 5 star rating if our room didn't have sink issues. Amazing Picturesque Views! The views from the Balcony of or room were majestic; we were able to enjoy the very scenic Yaquina Bay and the Bay Bridge. Our room was clean, well stacked with all the necessary amenities; Coffee maker, pots, pans, utensils, towels, soap etc. As mentioned earlier we did have a clogged sink, fortunately it wasn't all that big of a deal to use since we were there just for one night and we also had another room that was perfectly functional. I didn't get a chance to take a dip in the pool, but it looked nice. I would definitely stay here again...

Yelp
Beautiful views! Place is a little run down, like most places on the beach along the Washington Oregon coast. Rooms are little dated, not terrible. 333 feels very clean, small one bed condo type. Great location, great views, good parking, and nice staff. Wouldn't pay premium pricing for it. $200 or less at night is pushing it a lot.

Yelp
I've been visiting the Embarcadero through Vacation Internationale since I was 6 years old and I just celebrated my 30th birthday there last weekend. I love the location of the resort, the salt water pool is great but my favorite thing would have to be the crab dock. Parking is always easily accessible and the rooms managed by Vacation Internationale are always clean and functional. I will keep coming back here as long as it is around!

Yelp
As of August 7, 2023 We rented a boat to go crabbing. This is our first time renting a boat from here. So mind you we did not know what to expect. So we got to our boat and it's a small boat that seat about 6 max it's the kind of boat you would have to row but they put in engine on it. We followed all the rules and guidelines. As we leave off the dock water starts getting in the boat it wasn't bad and we were going really slow. I never been on a boat where water starts getting in immediately this should of been the reg flag!!!! We told this is normal because they have a scooper to scoop water out. A scooper was a cut out bleach bottle that came with the boat to scoop water out no one told us water would be coming in like this. This is another red flag if we had to keep scooping water out! As we go deeper and further out but not passing that big bridge of course more water gets in due to the waves now we have to use a big bucket to get the water out and let me tell you we are along side the shops and we were not going fast. As we steer left to go back close to the dock a BIGGER BOAT comes past us by this is where we knew we were in deep shit. The boat WAVE hit us and water comes pouring in our boat so fast we sunk we can not even dump or scoop water water out of our boat. You can NOT be prepared for something like that it happen too fast. We were all in shock and our boat flip when it sunk. We were all wearing life jackets! At this point we were on top of the bottom of the boat. Trying to hang on and balance the boat so it would not flip again. We were all so scared for our life. We yelled and screamed for help thank god we were close by where people can hear us and they called the coast guard to rescue us. We were in the water for 20 minutes and the coast guard came. I was already freezing cold and this is summer. If I stayed any longer I would of been in hypothermia. I get cold easily. We got all scraped up from trying to climb onto our sunken boat. There was barnacle and muscles on this bottoms boat that we held on to so it scraped and cut us up. We were all bleeding and the coast guard bandage up. We were in shock that we didn't even know we were bleeding. All I can say regardless what this company claims the BIGGER BOATS need to go slower it does not matter. These boat are way too small for OCEAN water!!! These boats should be for river or lake not OCEAN! Even if the big boats didn't come by ocean water has big waves it would of still took this small boat out regardless if a boat came by or not. I wished they warned us about the water coming in the boat. We got our full refund. We are lucky we didn't venture out too far and our lives were saved! This is a scary ass situation. If you care about your life do not rent this small boat this could of happen to anyone. Not worth your life! If you want to go crabbing get a huge tour guide boat never in my life will I rent this small boat in ocean water! this is a lesson learned.

Yelp
Location, location, location! We live staying at this resort because there is a beautiful path to walk all the way to the water front from the hotel. It's only a mile from the resort. The pool and jacuzzi are very nice to relax. The views of the bay and bridge are just gorgeous! Live to come here to just relax and unwind.

Jamie D.

Yelp
This hotel is individually owned units, which we didn't know from booking via Orbitz. Somewhat odd, but we went with it. The room was dated but the bed was incredibly comfortable. Balcony overlooked the beautiful bay. Location is spectacular, as it's only a 10-15 minute walk to great restaurants and shops of quaint Newport.

Terry W.

Yelp
Not long ago we booked a 3 night stay. Total cost just over 900 dollars. After our first night they didn't come to the room and do anything. Not even to change the towels. I had to go to check in a get clean towels. After getting home they sent servey asking how we like our stay. After leaving a review about not doing room service. They emailed an answer. There answer was for us to come again and give them another try at doing a better job. Yes no sorry we should refund you for the job we never did. Just think about that. If on your job you didn't do the job you were paid for. And you tell boss just pay me and maybe next time I will do the work.

Yelp
If I could give them a negative review I would. I had a reservation and cancelled it 48 hours ahead because I had the flu but was still charged 316.67 because they had a 72 hours cancellation policy. No one said anything even when I called to cancel that I needed to cancel 72 hours ahead of time but only said I emailed your cancelation. If they said something I could have had someone else go instead. When I called about the charge they said I should read the contract they sent me????
google avatar

Yelp
Set my reservation months in advance for what I knew would be a busy weekend. When I arrived I found my ocean front king bed room was downgraded to a queen cave, ground floor tucked in the far back of the property. They can take the 10% discount and shove it where the sun don't shine. Or maybe in that noisy hole in the wall you stuck me in.

Yelp
Good view of the harbor. Very disappointed with the rest. We've stayed at modest hotels / motels throughout Oregon.... Embarcadero was not a good value at $700.00 for three nights. The pull out bed felt like a pile of hangers with a thin cloth stretched over it. The king bed? A broke down thin foamy mattress on what felt like plywood. Throw in moldy windows, old rug, sheets / blankets that wouldn't even make the shelves at Goodwill, and you have a couple of ripped-off travelers in "King Loft 315". Oh and the guy who just walked in with "Housekeeping!" without knocking, then exclaimed, "front desk told me this room was unoccupied!". Not buying it, because other reviewers have mentioned the same thing. Interesting that the front desk said there were no housekeeping services, and yet this guy keeps appearing in different reviews. The pictures on the website were not reflective of our room. At all. We feel the website and photos are deceptive.

Yelp
Welp, you can definitely tell that the 70s were the heyday here. That's the last approximate remodel era. However, the customer service was really good. I like that there's a private crab dock that even includes crab pots! There are some boat slips down there as well. The bar / lounge was cool with a nice view of the marina. Probably some serious swinging going on here back in the day. Lots of moustaches and chest hair farmers. We tried the nachos; they were pretty shitty. Otherwise, I might visit again. Probably not stay, but visit. If you stay, and you have a room with a fireplace, then they should leave you some wood. My Aunt and Uncle didn't get wood. Not a deal breaker. I'm just saying. Maybe it's a VACASA thing?

C C.

Yelp
We stayed in Room 609, a small 1 bedroom. Once you enter the front door, you have to schlep all your luggage up a steep set of stairs. It was more of an updated condo (rather than a hotel room) with an old couch but comfy bed. Great view of the water from its own deck, which is the highlight of the room. No A/C so stuffy inside but aired out with the door & windows open as long as you're okay with the noise that comes with that. Cool facility for crabbing on a private dock and a designated crab boiler area. Can walk to downtown from this location. Unfortunately, next door was a crying baby who kept us up all night (I.e., shared wall where the bed is). All in all, for us, this room probably wasn't worth the $300 nightly rate.

Amber F.

Yelp
The worst experience my husband and I have ever experienced staying at a hotel. The room we stayed in had dirty stained old burlap carpet. We had to keep our shoes on. The bedding hadn't been changed and had old blood stains on it. It was absolutely disgusting. I emailed and called twice to speak with the manager and I haven't heard back. I am so disappointed. My husband and I stayed for our anniversary and would have been better off at a budget motel. I will make sure to tell everyone I know to not stay here. Please go else where. I am wanting a full refund.

Yelp
Watch out for extra charges. I thought I book a dog-friendly room on Aug.15th for 3 nights. A week later I find an additional charge on my checking account of $350. I had to call to see why. They said it wasn't a dog-friendly room and had to charge me $350. I explained to them, I thought I was booking a dog-friendly room. I showed them a copy of my itinerary and their detailed description of the room where it said, "LIMITED NUMBER OF PET ROOMS - DOG MUST BE 50 POUNDS AND UNDER". Nowhere did it say to call or anything about no dogs. As a customer, you would go to their website, put in your information, selected your room. Then I click on the details of the room. At the bottom of the details, it is saying "LIMITED NUMBER OF PET ROOMS - DOG MUST BE 50 POUNDS AND UNDER". Don't you think that a customer you might think it is a dog-friendly room? As I tried to explain this to the service manager all I got back was. "All online booking agents do state that we are not pet-friendly and to contact the hotel directly for pet-friendly options. Unfortunately, per management I am unable to offer a refund for this charge". I ask for the Upper Manager, but she didn't give it. As you can see by the room description that is not stated anywhere. She even said she understand that I have left the unit in good quality but still couldn't help. I have two 7 lb Chihuahua. All I wish is the management would understand their website didn't make it clear about the room and because there was no harm done and the room was left clean. (I even put the dishes away and swept the floor) That they would have considered a refund. I kind of feel scammed Teresa Rahim

Yelp
DON'T STAY HERE! We had a family emergency they the extremely rude staff refused to help change date of our stay so we could visit my dying grandmother from when she was discharged from the hospital. AVOID THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF!!! You have been warned.

Yelp
We couldn't have been happier with our one night stay. We had the king studio, far end and top floor so it was very private and had a great view. The room had a sofa that folded into a sleeper as well. The resort has an indoor pool and a very cool dock for fishing or crabbing, with an outdoor cooking and picnic area. A short drive into town, great location, nice and quiet.

Yelp
I so tried to give this place a chance... So! Long story short, my fiancé and I (along with most people) had quite a rough 2020. Yes, covid duh! But we had a small business we had to close down and literally lost everything we had worked so hard for. We didn't have any other option but to get a job at a local supermarket because they were the only ones hiring during the whole pandemic. My fiancé loves Newport and had always wanted to take me there so we saved a few dollars here and there throughout the course of the year to actually be able to take a couple of days off and drive the 6 hours it takes us to get to Newport from home. I was told by friends that if you call Expedia, hotels.com, etc you get a better rate so I called Expedia and they messed up my booking (but heavens forbid they actually help you even when you buy insurance for your trip) Well, the night before our stay we received a phone call from the hotel at 10:35pm and this is how it went: -me: hello? (Who the hell calls a stranger after 9:00pm? How rude!) -hotel: this (blank) you have a reservation for tonight. Are you coming or not? (Notice the tone) -me: oh it's actually for tomorrow night. -hotel: uhm no...it's for tonight. -me: I'm sorry there must be a mistake it's actually for tomorrow night. We're at a different hotel in a different city (in the area) tonight and we'll make our way up to your location tomorrow night. -Hotel: well you better call Expedia then! -me: but we're on the phone right now couldn't you help me move it to the following day? -hotel: no -me: So I tried to get a hold of Expedia but their customer service is garbage. You can't do anything online and after a whole day of driving the last thing I wanted was to wait 45 minutes on the phone at 11:00pm. I called back the hotel to let them know I couldn't get a hold of Expedia to beg them to help me with the reservation. Lo and behold the office was closed by then and the only person I could get a hold of was the security person on duty. No one else called me back nor did they reply to my message online and on top of their ridiculous fee for the night ($287) I got charged and extra $30 miraculously without any explanation. Although I never even set foot on hotel grounds. After covid and with the amount of hotels in the area, how do they get away treating people like this? If they couldn't refund it maybe I could've gotten credit for the night for some other night but now I wouldn't stay there nor could I recommend this place in good faith knowing they won't work with you even when you reach out and explain the situation. So $300 are more valuable than any future stays and potential recommendations in the future? How short-sighted! I don't trust them to take care of me and my family in the future and if this is the company culture where else are they cutting corners and ripping people off? Definitely makes me wonder...I just want my money back and to forget I ever had to deal with such an unprofessional business.

Yelp
It's all about the crab, and if that's not your thing, go elsewhere. The pool is very nice but there was a consistent ear splitting high pitch whine coming from the pump room adjacent. It made an otherwise nice pool unbearable. You have to pick up pool towels in another bldg and they are thin and tiny and if u don't return them you are charged $20 each. Bathroom equipped with one thin bar of soap. And all afternoons a cacophony of dogs barking and howling, again turning an otherwise peaceful, sunny day into a loud annoying one. And when we called the front desk about it they told us that some of the units are owned and in that case there is nothing they can do. But if you are into crabbing and don't care about the rest this place is for you. As for us, we won't be coming back or recommending this place to anyone. PS: Don't accept Room 423, unless you like smelling the natural gas venting off the clothes dryers in the laundry right below in the basement.

Yelp
At first glance it is very nice, but as you take a closer look it is very run down. The room had broken blinds, no working telephone or smoke detectors. It was very cold and only a sheet and a very thin blanket was available. The floors were very stained and I did not feel safe walking barefoot at all. The bathroom was very small and just had a sliding door. There were no food options as the restaurant was closed- but they should have at least offered a "to go" option for breakfast to make up for the very high price of staying there. I'm sure this hotel was probably very nice in the past- but it needs some serious renovations before they should allow anyone to stay for more than $100 a night. We will not be back.

Yelp
My review is limited to unit 422 in Embarcadero. the Building's siding was getting replaced and unit had a leak. They should not be renting out any units in a building that is in this condition until all repairs have been completed. The Unit itself is very old and Murphy bed in the living room was extremely uncomfortable. This unit and building need urgent attention.

Yelp
Not very pleased with this place. The bedsheets were stained, the rug was disgusting, the table collapsed when we tried to move it a little bit. I went for a evening swim in the pool, it was a small pool in an outdated poolhall, that looked like it hadn't been redone since they opened. The two outdoor jacuzzi's/spa's were nice, but I wished it had been darker out so you could lie and watch the stars. The women's sauna was out of order. The staff was helpful and polite, but I would rather prefer cleaner, nicer rooms. It worked for a night, but definitely not my first choice.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here for my birthday and Father's Day combined . It's not the ocean view that I love , however it has a beautiful view of the bay and the bridge. It was quiet and restful. We requested a room on the upper level and that's what we got . Peace and quiet, just the sound of the booey out past the jetty. I loved it ! The Turners

Yelp
First time customer, the accommodation n amenities just makes you feel like you just rented a cheap motel room. I'm not too impress with their service neither; BRENDA needs to re-train on her customer service skill. I will not return to this location. Oh price is a bit on the high end. $155 per night, I bet you can find a better resort elsewhere. Please do yourself a favorite, save you hard earn money. They will never another penny from me. Found out these hotel/condo is such money hungry, they sell some of their units and charge them with outrageous HOA fee.

Yelp
While the room was clean and had what we needed, it was not on the ground level, as we asked for, but had terribly steep steps to go down to the room. The check-in person said there were no steps you had to climb to get to the room, but you had to go down steps so you had to come up to leave. The steps were a pain. But, the huge disappointment was the pool and locker rooms. The locker rooms were disgusting! Mold and decay were everywhere. And, although the pool was advertised as "indoor" someone had removed half the sliding door to the outside. In November, that means that the pool was exposed to the night time temperatures. The water was cold and not anything comfortable to work out in.

Yelp
I enjoyed my stay. I do appreciate waking up hearing the boats and the seagulls lol room was clean. 4/5 because for some reason room 320 where I stayed for 3 nights before you walk up the stairs there is door that leads to you're neighbors and my door wasn't locked so I was afraid that our neighbors would walk in our room but we didn't have neighbors for the entire stay. Overall clean and beautiful view.

Yelp
The food here is trash. The kids menu sucked and the service sucked and the WiFi sucked. Don't eat here trash.

Yelp
Very disappointing. Pictures might look great on the website but that is not what you get. These are separate condos, which means you might be unlucky like us and get one that hasn't been updated since the 70's. Old oak cabinets, 32" tv, uncomfortable living room furniture, rusty doors, bad and old decorating. The patio door was rusted and cracked, the pot bellied stove had been removed but the flu was just cut off and sealed with black duct tape. Cob webs in the dried up decoration hanging next to the flu. The cleaning staff did their best and we left a good tip, but someone forgets to tell them to open the blinds in the bedroom and dust off the dead gnats and cobwebs. Most sad was that the restaurant closed late 2018, so we had to drive a few miles to eat. Would stay in Newport again but not at the Embarcadero.

Yelp
The food is average to slightly below average. The salad is uninspired with just some greens (admittedly fresh) and tomato slices. The chicken on the salad tasted odd and possibly off. The chowder was also very average and bland. They'd do better buying Ivar's at Costco and reheating it. The service was attentive and they brought out bread when requested even though it was lunchtime. The star here is the bay view which is great.

Yelp
I loved our stay here for spring break. Our room was pretty nice and clean with a gorgeous view of the marina. Staff was friendly and quick. My only complaint was that our bed was not very comfortable and no cover on the patio door so the light from outside kept me awake. Other than that it was great.

Yelp
"In the heart of bay front" We have our timeshare here. Great place to stay. Short walk to bay front. Great remodeled restaurant. Good band. Bartender served up some great drinks. Weather was very nice during stay. Anything we needed at the resort was cheerfully dealt with. The deck furniture was in the best shape I've seen it. Pool was refreshing, and even though only 1 of the 2 hot tubs was working, it was nice. They did have issues with saunas they were addressing them. They have private crabbing spots and give you a pot, thats fun.
