The Newest Charleston Restaurant Openings, February 2025 | Eater Carolinas

"A Miami Beach–based shopping destination has a Charleston pop-up at the Ferry Wharf in Mount Pleasant, using chic modular shipping containers to accommodate luxury shops like Lanvin, Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana, Balmain, and more; when patrons are finished maxing out their credit cards, they can stop by the Whitman Restaurant for a bite." - Erin Perkins

Just came back from a weekend trip here, and we had a wonderful stay. The property is modern, fresh, and beautiful. Everything is well-maintained, and every staff member we encountered was helpful and pleasant. (Extra shout-out to the evening front desk clerk who helped me get hand soap that wouldn’t trigger an allergy migraine). The parking deck was easy to manage, and had plenty of parking (Guests checking in can park on the first two levels. Your room key will give you access to the upper levels). $30/day is a little annoying, but pretty much in line for the local hotels of this caliber. The location is perfectly situated for visiting Charleston or the barrier islands with ease. Be sure to check out the waterfront park and pier nearby. It’s a beautiful spot to get pictures of the famous bridge, and has a playground for kids. We ate breakfast both days — the made-to-order omelettes really elevate the hotel breakfast bar experience. If you don’t want to eat on site, there are TONS of great restaurants within a short drive. If I HAD to nit-pick, I’d say that I wish the hotel had more rooms with scenic views. The neighboring office building blocks the bay views for most of the west-facing rooms, which is disappointing. The beds are also a bit firmer than I prefer, but I still slept great. These are minor inconveniences in an overall exemplary stay, though. I would ABSOLUTELY come back to this hotel again.

We chose this location in Mount Pleasant during our visit to Charleston. It was close enough, but far enough, for us to enjoy the attractions and food of Charleston, but also able to get away from the hustle and bustle of Charleston and enjoy the seafood of Mount Pleasant, Shem Creek, etc. Manager’s reception is always great and the hotel’s Hugh Tide restaurant was fabulous. Food was excellent and fairly priced. Even had a butterflied filet mignon special for $19 one night, although I think the cut was more likely a butterflied thick cut of pot roast. However, at &19, I’m not mad at them and I still enjoyed it with the special mushroom sauce / gravy, broccolini, and garlic mashed. Sharon took care of us and was an absolute delight. She also recommended things to do over the next few days during our stay. I will probably make this my go to location for my Charleston trips.

Walking to the doors with automatically opening doors is a welcoming touch. The inside looks like an expensive mansion. Very classy look to it. Nicholas the receptionist was an amazing help! He helped us with figuring out where everything is located for our adventures. Rooms.... Small, claustrophobic, the shelf makes room feel small. Couch not very comfortable. Looking down at the pool area and seeing into the halls across the way makes me not to keep my window open. Garage: Is there only two levels for the garage? Very creepy at night. Need more lighting, the elevator doesn't work. Walking down a little alley way to get into the hotel doesn't make me feel comfortable. Wish was more connected to the hotel. Other thing hate how the temperature gage, doesn't do even numbers. Some ups, lots of downs.

Had a very nice stay at this location. Our room was clean and well prepared. Had an occasion to call for a maintenance item and it was promptly handled. Did have to pay for parking but the deck was clean and looked secure. We took advantage of the pool. Breakfast was well stocked and the fresh made omelets were great. The location is great for enjoying the Sullivan island and isle of palms beaches. Just a few minutes from the downtown Charleston area its a great place to stay.

Google
The property is beautiful inside and out and very Charleston. The rooms are spacious as one has come to expect from Embassy. The staff I interacted with were all attentive and friendly. The restaurant is a whole vibe and the food was delicious! Could be a five star stay but there’s a few issues holding it back in my opinion. 1) $30 per day for parking is way excessive and a complete money grab. 2) The bed is hard as a rock. While there may be a mattress standard within the Embassy line, this mattress at this Embassy was by far the worst.

Google
Really nice facility. Great staff. Fresh hot breakfast. Nice clean rooms. Comfy beds. Good central location and very quiet even though its close to the main roadway. Only issue was when we got there, it says wharf ferry . There is no embassy suites sign so it was a little confusing. Parking is $30 a day which is a little steep. Seems everywhere around the area charges to park.

I have had the pleasure of staying at Hilton hotels all over the country and I have to say this was the best experience I have ever had with Hilton. The location was wonderful, the views were great, the food and staff were outstanding! The room was very clean, the hallways were clean and best of all it was quiet and inviting. Will definitely be choosing this Embassy Suites the next time I am in Mount Pleasant.

Google
We had an excellent stay at the Embassy Suites at Patriot's Point. The staff was very attentive and breakfast every morning was great. We are disappointed with the $30/day charge for parking, and it's the only place there you can park. You must park on the 3rd level, which is annoying because there's no hotel access on that level. The manager's evening reception is a nice perk. The kids lived playing in the pool after our days of sightseeing. Also the pool is shaded by the building most of the afternoon and evening which is nice on these super hot days. The location has great access to the pier, a park, and Patriot's Point.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my visit. The hotel is laid out nicely, it's beautiful. My room was great and welcoming. I especially loved my name on the tv screen! It's a bit nerve racking when you first arrive especially at night. I wasn't sure I had the correct place. The sign for the hotel is at the top and hard to see. It is also a bit confusing with the parking garage. You have to park and then check in receive your key and then move your car to the hotel parking part. Make sure you always have your key so you are not charged for the daily rate. Complimentary breakfast was the best I have ever had, it had so many options including an omelette bar. Breakfast was filling and not one that left you wanting more. Overall I was extremely happy with my stay here and would definitely return.

Yelp
This hotel is a home away from home. Located in a nice area, and the hotel is nice! The receptionist D'ona is a gem. She was absolutely pleasant, professional, and makes guest feel welcome effortlessly. Our room was spacious and cozy. 10 stars if I could.

Yelp
Great ES in Charlotte. Has a Spa in which you can get a full treatment. Also considered a Resort too. Had a nice pool as well. Large open lobby and a nice restaurant with a full bar. Oh... and a proper coffee shop. The managers evening reception was one of the nicer ones that we have been to at an ES. Breakfast was great too.... the actually set up 2 omelet stations to keep things moving. Great touch. Our room was a corner location with a balcony. Great spot!

Yelp
We really enjoyed our stay here! The harbor was great for early morning strolls. It's right across the bridge from Charleston and costs less. The room was awesome! Two separate areas with all the amenities you could want including refrigerator, microwave, kitchen sink, 2 tv sets, etc. They accommodated our request for a room on a higher floor. Enjoyed our view even if it wasn't the harbor. Plenty of towels for 2 night stay. Comfortable king size bed. Free breakfast was good. Highly recommend * prices can vary for room rates. The best price is if you are a hilton honors member.

Yelp
Been staying here for the last 4 years every couple of months I come to Charlestown for work and the staff is great and the rooms are well maintained. Great view of the bay and patriot point

Yelp
Check in seemed like it was easy. I picked my room on the app and it looked like it was a good room with a view of the harbor, which is what I reserved. The room was ready at about 1 PM, but the digital key doesn't work. So I had to go to the front desk to check in. Room 702 smells like straight up dog pee! I called and they said they'd have someone clean it again but the smell was unbearable so I moved over to 536. There was no smell in that room. Aside from that, the rooms are the smallest Embassy Suites I've ever stayed in. For a new hotel, why are the rooms so tiny? Oh and parking was $30/night. We had 2 cars. We parked down the road. The front desk staff were friendly. The pool is miserably dark. Definitely a design flaw. I left the Beach Club to come over here to stay with family and I will not be back. Beach Club is where it's at in Mt. Pleasant.

Samantha A.

Yelp
I've stayed at this hotel twice with my family. I highly recommend it. The hotel is pretty, quiet, and clean. I love the decor and vibe. The pool area is very relaxing in an enclosed outdoor courtyard. The complimentary breakfast and manager's reception are a nice touch as well.

K W.

Yelp
Unimpressed and disappointed. We stayed for nearly a week and never had the bedsheets changed; they felt very thin, cheap, and were uncomfortable. When they cleaned our room they left the soiled towels on the floor outside our door for more than 3 hours (disgusting), glad we didn't have any visitors. The bar appeared very active on the weekend, but clearly not patronized by hotel guests. The best I can say is there is a nice running path to the bridge and fishing pier. An extremely new hotel with a somewhat inexperienced staff.
google avatar

Terri J.

Yelp
Great hotel! Top notch service and beautiful views! Very clean and located in a convenient location. Love that it's right by the pier!
google avatar

Crystal O.

Yelp
Gorgeous hotel, love the lobby and courtyard. Complimentary happy hour, breakfast included in the morning- including an omelet station and plenty of breakfast items. Restaurant on site- which we did not eat at, the first night we would have, but they were closed. Rooms are clean and spacious, same with the bathrooms. This could have been 5 stars easy- but the ding was because they have all this property where they could have had a parking lot and instead they have a garage they charge you to park in- with disclaimers about not being responsible for and theft or damage.... If I am paying for parking, yes- you are responsible to make sure the garage is safe. I also had to laugh that it is right next to the bridge- which could have been a wonderful view, except the built the parking garage between the hotel and the bridge. So no views. Guess that's why the lobby is so grand! No views, lol. Overall- very happy with everything.

Yelp
Dated and falling apart Would avoid. Our door was open when we arrive. Wallpaper , plaster, and paint peeling off.

Yelp
If not for the staff I would give It a zero. And if this looks like my Savannah visit it was EXACTLY the same. My entire trip with my daughters and niece and have them asking why it's so d*** hot in a hotel. The A/C in my room was set at 68 but the room never chilled below SEVENTY-EIGHT in South Carolina on a 92 degree day. It was sweltering and stuff in the room. You know what I'm talking about if you've been in this situation. One "no visit" by service to fix. Thankfully it took less an hour here to get a room change. I asked for free parking and a nights points on my Hilton head honors. Apparently, I could only get free parking so there's that. (Sarcasm) for a Hilton and the $$$ - super disappointing on this one!

Yelp
Well kept, fashionable and trendy hotel 10 minutes drive from downtown Charleston (that's a $12 Uber ride as of today!). You feel like you're in an upscale room that only A list celebrities can afford. The front desk staff, especially Julisa, we're amazing and hospitable. She provided us recommendations in the area and went above and beyond delivering late night luggage to our room when the luggage missed the flight that we were on. 5:30-7 pm 2 free cocktails and snacks at the bar. Can't beat that. Only complaint is that housekeeping is no longer available 24/7- we checked in about 4:30-5 pm and the two rooms on our reservation both had an issue with the bedding not being completed or having a stain. Called the front desk and they said housekeeping had left. Odd and disappointing but not the end of the world. Would stay here again.

Yelp
Very upsetting I love the embassy suites and this stay had me questioning if I would ever rebook at this location Last night I came back from a buisness meeting checked in it was 6pm thought I woukd grab evening reception no cheese no crackers left I asked she said she had been busy but would call back for more it never showed I stepped out came back at 945 called for room service they close at 10 I was redirected back to the front desk at every call finally they say at 945 we are closed for the evening. This morning I get up and come downstairs for breakfast and they are out of egg whites I walk away to complain at the front desk and a group of the women workers huddled together talking about me my niece over heard them This is by far a reason to not Stay ! We are supposed to love one another and be kind to one another We don't need to act as if your in grade school Very upsetting stay

Yelp
Until our recent return to Clt NC we lived at the Tides Condo's just down the street from the Embassy Harbor Hotel. Having moved back to Clt we looked forward to quarterly visits and stays at the Embassy. Our very first experience was epic, unprofessional and ridiculously time consuming on my part. Here's a brief outline of my review of events: Tuesday 7-9-24 - went to the Tides portal at 9:30 AM to make a reservation. (this portal offers a discount) Found a King suite with harbor views (note, this building in not on the River there's an office building obstructing most views. Not a problem) Found the perfect room for Aug 1,2,3 for $253. The portal would not allow me to check out. Tried again, same result. 10 AM I called the hotel and was put on hold for 11 minutes. When the lady returned I reviewed my issue and gave her my Hiltons Honors number. She found the same room only at $287. She then put me on hold to review with "sales". About 5 minutes later she returned and said they would email me a new link for the Tides portal. I replied, "that's alright because the new portal might have yet a third rate and I do not want to lose the $287. Next I asked if a Queen bed might be cheaper. She replied, let me check, when she did that rate was $327 which made no sense but to save time I told her to book the King. Her reply, and you can't make this stuff up, "oops, we lost that $287 rate its now $365" per day! nothing she could do to help!!! She transferred me at about 10:30 to the GM Josh Matthews, the only person according to her empowered to make a simple professional decision, do the right thing and help! I got his VM and left him a message explaining the problem and asking for his help. No response. Called again at 1:30 and 4:00 PM again asking for him to simply return my call. Wednesday I called again at 9:00 and 11 AM and left messages. No response. Around 3:30 I called the front desk and after another 20 minutes confirmed that the MIA GM is the only person who could help. Now I looked up their reviews on Yelp and Google and found most poor reviews were generated due to perception of poor service. In several reviews there I found responses from the Hotel (owner) apologizing and giving a number to call for additional help. Great I thought, a direct line....nope simply connects to the front desk. Do date, still no response from the GM but the good news is we have reservations just down the street at another hotel/resort that is on the water. Hope my comments help and someone can avoid the unprofessional ordeal I went through. Please note, this service model is not indicative of my experience of Hiltons high standard for service and accommodation. Frankly, never went through anything like this ever with any hotel.

Yelp
This is by far the nicest embassy suites I've ever stayed in. Large rooms, super clean, super modern and very nice staff. The downtown location should be what this location is
google avatar

Lakin D.

Yelp
*THIS IS NOT HARBOR-FRONT Property* This hotel advertises being a harbor-front hotel, but there's another building between the Embassy Suites and the harbor - completely blocking the view. There are only 14 rooms total in the entire building that are angled in such a way that you could see the harbor. This is false advertisement. The room we had was not impressive and there were fixed green shutters that blocked any sunlight from entering the room. We booked a Harbor-front Room and they told us upon arrival they accidentally overbooked us and they gave us the "second best view", which has a sliver of the harbor and a big building blocking the view. (Photo) Terrible service. The front desk was inexperienced and didn't know how to use the computer system. No one came to clean the room. We made our own bed, took out our own trash, and fetched new towels daily. This was cheap of Hilton. This is NOT WORTH $340/night. I would not have paid $200/night for this.

Yelp
We've stayed at many Embassy Suites locations. This new one exceeds all standards!! Awesome scenicocation, beautiful.property, professional staff

Yelp
Very beautiful new Embassy Suites by Hilton Hotel. Great view, friendly staff, and nicely appointed suites. The pool was a little small but not bad since the beaches are close by!

Natoshia M.

Yelp
Customer service is great. I love the idea that they offer shuttle service to the outlet complementary.

Rick E.

Yelp
We ate dinner at the restaurant, both ordered fish and chips. I have never seen a smaller portion of fish which appeared to be tilapia that was thinner than a pencil. It was so overcooked the fish was crunchy all the way through and had no flavor. $17 for that fish and a handful of fries is sickening. I would have gotten better quality fish cooked acceptably and twice the portion for half the cost at captain d's. There is clearly no management oversight of what comes out of the kitchen. With all the dining choices in Charleston it's obvious why the entire restaurant had only 8 patrons dining.

Yelp
Stayed here on vaca and my A/C was broken in my room it was late when I realized this like midnight late. So when I called down I spoke with Stacey who was so helpful and she got right on it. Hotel seemed clean and also a great location. Thanks Stacey and thanks to the Embassy Suites.
google avatar

George W.

Yelp
Only reason not 5 star is b/c of the room cable issue, keeps losing signal and pixelates.

Christan N.

Yelp
My friend got a hotel room through Expedia and when arrived her card was declined. She paid with another card that went through. Turns out the card that they claim was declined was charged. Went to the hotel with both receipts, the proof that both cards were charged and they refused to pay her back. They claim it was declined in their system and that was enough proof for them. Both card were charged and she showed them card statements and they still refused to pay her back. Know what you're paying before hand. If they say it's declined, I would call and see if your credit card was charged before handing over another. Also, the front desk was very snotty about everything. Refusing to pay back her money and got mad at her when she was upset about them not accepting her proof of both charges. She had a paper trail and a computer system was more important to them in the end.

Yelp
Nothing but a great experience. Room was clean when I checked in the staff are as friendly as it gets. Would highly recommend if your staying In Charleston or mount pleasant. Breakfast is free and delicious
google avatar

Cheri H.

Yelp
We stayed here on our way back from a USC game. Beautifully designed, well maintained, friendly staff and gorgeous rooms. Complementary breakfast was just right for our girls who are picky eaters. Would stay here again!

Pete D.

Yelp
Overall experience very good. Rooms spacious and clean. Breakfast buffet, food average service good. Don't waste your time having dinner at the High Tide restaurant on site. Simply horrible.

Bruce M.

Yelp
Don't rent corner room with view of bay. Can only see a slice of the bay. The slice is above the green roof.
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
This hotel is in a great location and is generally clean and modern. But when you pay $369 a night, you expect a bit more. Went down to take a swim with my daughter last night, no clean towels. The dirty towel bin was overflowing. Went to use a bathroom in the lobby, no toilet paper. The coffee machine in the lobby was broken both days we were here. They were "sorry for the inconvenience". One of the windows in our room on the first floor had been shattered from the outside. Told the desk and they said "oh yeah, we know". I mean come on. I'm a disappointed Diamond Member. Stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn close by last year, better experience.
google avatar

Alex M.

Yelp
Our stay was nice. Didn't have any noise to complain about hotel was SUPER clean and staff was super nice! The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because although it is a brand new hotel the pictures versus the rooms you get are quite different, it seems as they try to advertise more than they have to offer. But I would definitely stay here again! Also if anyone else opts to stay here I'd recommend getting a digital key through their app as well as an actual room key card because you can only have the key on 1 phone at a time and it's buggy! Great stay though!!

Joe N.

Yelp
the room was poorly maintained. the front door needed to be painted, the room had dirty carpet, the toilet was leaking when flushed, the wallpaper was coming off, the molding going into the bathroom was loose, not attached, the garbage man came at 5 in the morning and his back up beeper kept making noise, so you could not sleep, they allow animals in the room but they do not tell you that animals were in your room.

Melinda L.

Yelp
One of the worst customer service and experiences I've ever had trying to get my bill reconciled after the hotel charged my card nearly $1500 for a two night stay at the conference rate (and charged my room with the wrong bar bill). I understand mistakes happen, but no one there wanted to take responsibility for the error or call me back. Tried emailing the GM, assistant manger, etc. No response. For two weeks, I've been calling and emailing -- had take hours out of work day to try to handle, but every time I called I got routed to different people, no one seemed to understand or take responsibility for all these extra charges on my credit card. Finally one person seemed to own up to the fact that they had charged my card with someone else's stay, but she too didn't follow up after promising she would. I had to track her down myself, get my credit card company on the call, and am now in the process of waiting for these charges to come off my card but will soon dispute them if they do not.

Emily B.

Yelp
I enjoyed my stay here. You are about 10 minutes from historic Charleston. I had a pool view from the 5th floor. The rooms are all suites which gave us plenty of space. It was very clean here. Housekeeping was vacuuming rooms as others checked out. Note that at this time only a towel exchange and trash left outside the room is done. Daily housekeeping must be requested. But we didn't really want that service so it didn't bother us. It was very quiet here. I wasn't disturbed by other guests. The front desk and bar staff were courteous and provided great hospitality. The perk here most will like is the 2 free drinks and snacks during happy hour each night. The spacious lobby and the courtyard were available to sit and mingle during this time. We also used the laundry room here which was very clean. I didn't use the pool but the space was clean had plenty of chairs. There is also a great little walking path next to the hotel that goes under the overpass bridge. The parking was a little complicated. You had to park in a garage directly next to the hotel (which I suggest paying for when you book, it's cheaper) but you have to use the elevators to get down to the ground level. Then cross over an uncovered sidewalk and then get into the hotel on the elevators to your floor. My only complaint is the complimentary breakfast. It wasn't the best per other hotels. There is a cook to order omelet bar which I did not partake in but others seemed to enjoy. There was no milk to go with my cereal on one of the days. They ran out which didn't make much sense to me. Overall I'd stay here again.

Angela B.

Yelp
I love Embassy suites (I have diamond status) and this one is absolutely beautiful. The views are magnificent. With big floor to ceiling windows. We did however, have a big problem. When my husband and I went to bed, it was soaking wet. Not the bed cover, just the sheets. We called the desk and a very nice lady brought us sheets. She couldn't change them with us in the room so we had to change them ourselves. We asked for another room but apparently the hotel was booked. After changing the sheets, we laud down again and once again the sheets got wet, the mattress it's self was wet, we were very tired from traveling so we covered the wet spot with towels and an extra blanket. The next morning as we went out we stopped at the desk and asked them to take care of the problem which they told us would be fixed. When we got back in the late afternoon the wet sheets were still on the bed. My husband went to the front desk and demanded the problem be fixed, however we were told we'd have to leave so they could take care of ut due to covid (after we'd been gone all day sight seeing) we were not happy at all with that prospect, but had no choice. Finally we were able to come into our room and get some rest. No one at anytime apologized for the inconvenience or offered any compensation. We would probably stay there again because as I said it was beautiful, but having to sleep on a blanket and towels in a pissy bed was a nasty experience.

Mark S.

Yelp
In a simple word - bad. The deal killer was the filthy rooms. Apparently they have a new policy (COVID excuse?) in which rooms will only be cleaned upon request - no, I am not kidding. Our rooms were dirty when we arrived. The bathroom door handle had someone's goo on it, the shower had someone's hair on the walls, mirrors smudged, and I can go on. But worst of all, the floors had not been vacuumed or washed in quite a while. I walked in bare feet from the bathroom to the bed next to the window. In those 8 steps, the bottoms of my feet were completely covered with hair, dirt, and only the Lord knows what else. We immediately asked the front desk for a vacuuming, but apparently it never happened in our 2 days here. On the bright side, the staff was warm and friendly, pretty much what you can expect in South Carolina. But helpful they are not. It took multiple attempts to get fresh towels and toilet paper. By the way, since they do not come to service your room, you have to keep an eye on your toilet paper stocks and call early for more. I don't understand why they were ineffective because they seem to have plenty of staff milling around, they just don't seem very busy. Breakfast was another disappointment. It was a typical breakfast buffet. Well.... except that it was poorly done. The food itself was only acceptable. Plates, utensils and napkins were harder to find than they should be. The orange juice dispenser was out of service so no orange juice for both days of our stay - I find that ridiculous. If the machine is broken, the hotel should provide orange juice in pitchers, cartons, anything! A breakfast buffet without orange juice is a big fail. No water either. The room itself was substandard at this price point. Cheap furnishings like plastic flooring, one remote for two TVs, a sliding barn door on the bathroom that provides poor privacy, and more weirdness. It is obvious that consultants designed the building and operation for lowest cost. But they have forgotten the expectations of the guest - a clean room and good service. COVID is no excuse for lowering expectations. You can do much better elsewhere in my opinion.

Ted H.

Yelp
Booked a suite for three nights. You can see the harbor, but it isn't ON the harbor as advertised. While the accomodations were OK, I ran into a health issue that precluded me from staying the last evening. I went to the front desk at 7:30 AM, explained I had to check out and was assured by the front desk I would not be charged for the last night ($511.00 per night). Well, the $511.00 posted for the 3rd night anyway. I callled spoke to the front desk and was assured the credit would be issued for the last night.....didn't happen. Spoke to the General Manager (Kevin) and was assured this would be cared for....nope. Despite the transaction posting issue, the suites are no where near the $511.00 they charge per night. Would recommend staying elsewhere. This property is not worth the $$$$.

Ed P.

Yelp
Normally do not write reviews on my stays. We booked about 30 rooms for a wedding and this hotel is exceptional! From the owner, to the general manager, to the front desk staff, to the cook in the kitchen who busts his butt and to Shannon who cleans tables and offers assistance when needed. The best hotel in its class I have ever stayed in and the staff deserves the credit for making our stay memorable. Heard they are building several other hotels in the area can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Beautiful new hotel, so convenient to downtown Charleston, but a nice peaceful respite from the crowds. Parking is easy, staff went out of their way to be of service. Gorgeous views of the harbor and its an Embassy Suites so the rooms are spacious with room to lounge, have friends in for a drink (or go downstairs and have a complimentary one!) Breakfast was super. Outdoor spaces are nice too! We will be back!
