THIS SHIP HAS SUNK!!!
This place was once something to brag about to friends and family. However, during my most recent visit, I've discovered that it's nothing to brag about anymore. As a matter of fact, I am extremely disappointed with the service and the quality of the food, because this ship has sunk below sea level and has gone beyond the abyss! I don't know if I'll ever climb aboard again.
My husband and I came here on a Saturday around 4:30 pm. The place wasn't busy with only a few diners dining inside. The patio was void of customers seeing that it's too hot to dine outside anyway. Upon entering, the host did not greet us with a friendly and welcoming gesture, but he was not rude with us or anything like that. He greeted us with a question, "Table for two?" He collected two menus and led us to the dining room and asked where we would like to sit. I appreciate him for letting us choose our own table to dine. That was really nice of him. Our server was a young gentleman by the name of Seth. He was very friendly, welcoming, attentive, and absolutely professional. With that being said, my two-star rating is based solely on the service rendered by our server, Seth. Thanks for your warm and friendly hospitality Seth!
As far as the food is concerned, this is where the disappointment comes. I ordered their salmon dish which is served over a bed of quinoa and steamed vegetables and roasted potatoes. This is an absolutely great tasting dish and it started off good. However, as I was nibbling on the quinoa and vegetables, a spoiled scent was hitting my nose off and on, but it didn't taste spoiled. This is where my experience took a turn for the worse. I broke off a tiny corner piece of the salmon and tasted it and it was flavorful and crunchy, which made me want to dig deeper and try a piece of the middle section of the salmon. When I separated the salmon, the smell grew stronger and when I tried the thicker part of the salmon, I quickly spat it out of my mouth in total disgust! It was spoiled and tasted badly, like the horrible smell that was filling my nostrils. I brought this issue to my waiter's attention and he immediately reported it to the manager. When the manager came over to inquire about the issue I was having with my meal, he was cordial and polite. However, he offered a weak explanation that they had just gotten the salmon in a shipment and that it should be fresh and then he offered to remake the dish for me. I politely declined his offer and requested their house salad instead. I mean seriously dude, you tell me that the salmon just came in but it's sitting on my plate spoiled and filling my nose with a heinous smell, and you want to replace it with another piece of salmon when there's a possibility it may be spoiled as well, especially since it came from the same shipment! Furthermore, the house salad that they replaced my first dish with was delicious, but lacked lettuce. It was filled with those hard pieces of Romaine lettuce and barely had any leafy parts. Once again, I was disappointed. The proof is in the photos.
Moreover, my husband ordered the Wagyu burger, which is his favorite dish from this place. He has bragged to so many people about this burger and was a little disappointed with the flavor of it during our visit. He said that it was good but lacked the juiciness and unique flavors that it once held. They also forgot to add the special caramelized sauce on the burger that normally comes on it. The onions are supposed to be caramelized and if you look at the picture you will see that the onions are just plain grilled onions without the caramelized sauce. Also, the burger is smaller than it once was. In the past my husband has never been able to finish the entire Wagyu burger, but this time he was. If you think I'm pulling your leg, just look at the old photos that I posted in the past and compare to the recent photos. However, the appetizer that we ordered was absolutely delicious, which was the plain coal-fired wings without any sauce, but they do come in different flavors like herb and Parmesan and buffalo. They're also served with a cucumber dill ranch sauce which has lost its pizazz as well. It's not as delicious as it used to be. BUMMER!
Overall, hubby and I enjoyed each other's company due to the quiet and relaxing atmosphere. There was light music playing and also TV monitors displaying the Paris Olympics. I don't know what has gone wrong with this establishment but I truly hope they will bounce back. The manager should choose his words wisely when attempting to rectify an issue with a customer. The host should work on his customer service skills and the cooks need to be more mindful of the food that they're serving paying customers. I don't appreciate spending my money only for you to give me food poisoning. That's not cool at all. The only thing I truly enjoyed during this visit were the plain wings and my vodka cranberry drink. Both were delicious.
