EDIT: Not only is the food bad when they want to "make it right," they give you an email that doesn't work in guessing, so it looks like they do the right thing, but don't have to deal with it, just so they can look better in these reviews. That is very shameful! See the more added photo below of the regretted email. They don't actually care. The food here was terrible. They couldn't get the order for the steaks right to cook them correctly. I ordered medium rate and got medium too medium well. The flavor of the spices they use tastes like a lower mid-level hamburger at best. That and the steak was dry. For how much they are charging it should be way better. I've honestly gotten better streaks from i hop on the breakfast special. I couldn't even finish it because it wasn't worth the calories The baked potato was okay but to mess that up is nearly impossible. The mozzarella bites were not good either. Honestly, if you have taste buds and value your money go someplace else, in my opinion. That is very shameful!

My daughter and I decided on a whim to go to lunch here. The fried jalapeños came out first and they were amazing! I was going to dock a star for the jalapeño mac and cheese because it had no flavor and too many bread crumbs, but to take a whole star for 1 side seems a little excessive. The steak was cooked to perfection. The service was really good as well, she was super sweet. Overall, it was amazing and I will be coming back with the hubby.

My friend and I had a nice lunch at Ember's Wood Fire Kitchen. The pizzas were nicely charred due to the wood fire which created a nice crust. We tried the Spicy Canadian and the Supreme and they were both great. The ingredients tasted fresh and everything was good. The casual, welcoming atmosphere adds to the charm, making it a great spot for both a quick bite or a leisurely meal with friends.

We’ve driven by this place for 6 years before finally deciding to stop in. It has now become a regular in our rotation. I’ve loved everything we’ve tried. The steak is excellent and the pizza is some of the best around. I hated grilled romaine until I had it here; now I’m obsessed. Chef Ruben doesn’t mess around. Great selection of beer to boot. Ask for ‘Alex’, Joey, Chris, Maddi, or Alyson—you’re in good hands!

Food was decent but very underseasoned. I hardly ever reach for salt and pepper but I needed it here. We had the smoked mozzarella, one word oregano. Where the entrees were lacking seasoning they overdid the oregano on mozzarella. It was hot and gooey which we loved. I got the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and grilled corn. Gravy was very bland, but the chicken fried steak was hot and crispy. The mashed potatoes were Real potatoes but mine were almost cold. The smoked corn was overcooked but if you've ever smoked corn this is hard not to do so they're forgiven. Hubby got the grilled meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and grilled corn. He says the saving grace for his meatloaf was the bbq sauce on top that added flavor. We both ordered drinks, dark side of the moon for him, peach margarita for me. Both were on point and definitely worth having again. For the price, almost 80 bucks, it was not worth it. Overall it wasn't bad but there wasn't anything special that would make paying that much for two people worth it.

Decided to try this place as it was right outside our hotel and had decent reviews. It was a Friday night but we were seated without any wait. Ambience is decent and not casual. We ordered fresh fried jalapeños which were pretty good. They were not completely coated in batter so gave a good taste of the jalapeños. Ordered marina pasta from the kids menu which was average. Also ordered buffalo chicken wood fired pizza which tasted very good. Service was good but a bit slow. All in all a decent experience.

Our family of 7 had dinner here for the 1st time and enjoyed it. Our waiter, Joey was wonderful. We sat outside where we had a guitar playing lovely music. The fresh fried jalapenos and fried mushrooms were delicious & on point. The raspberry lemonade tea was too sweet. The salmon with glaze was delicious. Also, the chicken fried steak, sweet potato fries, and tater tots were also delicious. I highly recommend Embers.

I visited Embers Woodfire Kitchen and Tap 819North Loop1604 SA, TX on Saturday 02/22/2025. I'm certain this establishment is infested with roaches. I ordered a salmon ceaser salad, there was a roach in my salad. As if this is not horrifying enough the manager made me wait about 20 minutes before she came out to apologize. The manager never introduced herself, and she said “I will let the kitchen staff know that they need to look out for stuff like this”. She gave me half off of my $50 tab instead of doing a comp for the entire thing. I was very discrete when i mentioned the roach to my waitress, because she was so sweet. I will never eat there again and I've already alerted the health department, because my 4 year had to use the restroom before we left and there was a roach on the floor in the 2nd stall. I'm traumatized. I understand that whoever responds to reviews is in denial, but this picture was taken at your restaurant. I was charged $27.07, and gave the waitress a $10 tip, because it definitely wasn't Melissa’s fault, she is an excellent waitress. Also, it wasn't the kitchen staff’s fault either, as your shift manager tried to deflect. I'll email you, but there is nothing you can offer me from this restaurant. The previous review was from my husband, this is why we were able to post the same photo.
