Best Restaurants in Beacon Hill in Boston | Eater Boston

"Waiting in line at the Paramount for a crispy waffle and a mug of coffee is a rite of passage in Beacon Hill. This first-come, first-served breakfast and lunch spot has been dishing out American classics since 1937. Breakfast is served all day, seven days a week, so you’re never far from Florentine eggs Benedict or caramel and banana French toast." - Celina Colby

Google
Visited this theater to see Spacebridge in November 2025. The theater is absolutely beautiful and convenient. All the staff were very friendly and nice. The sits were comfortable, the bathrooms are clean and well maintained.

Visited the this center to see Into the Woods, and it was a wonderful experience. The theater itself is beautifully restored, with a blend of historic charm and modern comfort. The acoustics were excellent, making every note and lyric clear and rich. The production was engaging from start to finish a fantastic performances, creative staging, and an intimate atmosphere that pulled the audience right into the story. A perfect venue for such a whimsical and heartfelt show.

Google
Beautiful theater. Love the sign outside and the painted walls and ceiling inside. Bathrooms are gender neutral, which was nice for me because there was no line to use the women's bathroom. Show started rather late. Seats are a little small. But a very nice experience overall.

Google
This theater is beautifully decorated and well appointed. It seems like it has been fixed up recently: the seating is clean and comfortable and the bathrooms a large and modern. Parking is not attached to the theater, but there is plenty of parking around, including under the Boston Common. It is a very quick walk from there to the theater. The hall is cozy. It's hard to imagine that any seat would be considered "bad." The orchestra section has a steep rake, so you fan easy see over those in front of you. The staff is friendly and flexible.

All the bathrooms I could find were mixed gender. As a woman, I felt very uncomfortable and unsafe using them, knowing that at any moment, a man could come in. The theater itself is not bad, but I won't be back.

Saw The Seasons at this theater and it was WONDERFUL. The show made me laugh, cry (x2), and completely forget everything that was on my mind. It was beautifully performed - a treat for your eyes and mind. The theater elevated the experience.

Google
Saw 82major here yesterday and the view from each seat in the orchestra was so good because of the incline of the seats as you get farther back from the stage. I was close to the top of the orchestra and did not struggle at all to see the stage. Such good design!

Google
Cool, good theater, the Emerson college part is amazing, but one of the neon letters wasn’t functional.

Yelp
Was an amazing ARTS EMERSON PREVIEW ON MAY 22, 2025 that was packed with guests and special guests for the 15th Season with much anticipation of what this new season will present Check out their Web Site! Or call for more information! A great time for all attended!

Yelp
The Emerson Paramount theater was buzzing with energy for the Arts Emerson season premiere event. This spectacular occasion, showcases the nine shows in the upcoming 2024/2025 season! This showcase attracted an enthusiastic crowd of performing arts and theatre enthusiasts and offered trailers and descriptions of the new lineup: Rough Magic, Fight Night, In the Same Tongue, on the Eve of Abolition, Life & Times of Michael K, The Seasons, It's a Motherf**king Pleasure, Utopian Hotline, and Prison Dancer: the Musical After the showcase, attendees were treated to a stage reception, complete with bubbly drinks (Spindrift and champagne) and a spread of delightful food (egg rolls, chicken wings, custard, fruit, etc...) It was the perfect setting for mingling and discussing the anticipated season.

Yelp
The facility itself is beautiful. This is not a critic of the students themselves, just whoever's idea this was and the way it was portrayed. The Book of Mountains and Seas I watched and had high expectations for will forever go down as thee worst performance I've ever witnessed. I'm not even sure what I watched because for 1.5 hours I listed to people vocalize loudly in a cacophony. That was it. I think that was maybe their point (to portray chaos) but the writer of this play could have done a better job at interpreting that in a more enjoyable way with more variation. In the 1.5 hrs that I endured this, I watched *at least* a dozen people get up and kindly dismiss themselves. I would go back for a different play but am in awe this was even an experience that was actually chosen to have on stage.

Yelp
I'm sorry, this just needs to be said and I know ppl were thinking it tonight. The theatre is beautiful and staff is kind, but the play (Book of Mountain and Seas) we just came from was absolutely terrible and I have to rate it here since I can't find a place to rate the play. Props to the staff and especially the students for having the patience to practice that. I could tell the singers were talented..they were just given rough material. We just felt there are so many better ways to tell that story. It's radically symbolic which is fine, but the singing seemed to purposely be off key to represent "chaos"..there are plenty of ways to represent chaos without that approach. Think of all the cinematic scores that are used during war films or chaotic scenes that are still enjoyable as a viewer experience. Also each sentence (sometimes not even the full sentence) would take multiple minutes with the singing mentioned above. People started leaving and we had to as well. I've never walked out of a play and again this is not a reflection of the actors/artists involved, but rather poor material. There needs to be some better quality control for plays accepted into theatre. Thousands of incredible plays/musicals/etc that are missing an opportunity. Simply unfortunate

Yelp
Beautiful, small space. Comfy chairs and organized and knowledgeable staff. Pleasant greeting on arrival and they assisted to seats. Mics for some singers seemed a bit on the soft side or we could not hear their words clearly but we still enjoyed the show and other performers sang louder which helped. A place I would come back to for a performance. Great to support local artists. Beware strict rules - no photography!

Yelp
First time in the theater since moving here. We went to see "The Life of Michael K". We got center row front balcony seats. When we arrived we discovered that the view was obstructed by a large video projector. We weren't informed of this when we purchased the tickets. Very disappointed

Yelp
My friend Emma had 4 kids. 3 girls, 1 boy. This amazing theatre was designed by her lone male offspring. Hence the name "Emma's-son Paramount Center". So now you know. This is a stunningly beautiful building, and one of the most visually appealing buildings in Boston for me. A gorgeous grand theatre with glowing, luminous neon, piercing the choppy Boston seaside night, shrouded in the haunting grey concrete towerblocks of Boston's financial heart on every side. Whatr a view. Inside and out, it's a gorgeous theatre with unmistakeable and iconic shimmering neon lights that is a beacon in the night. From all the threatres I've seen, I think it's the gold standard theatre, what every other similar theatre facade was made to look like on the outside, harking back to old-school Americana. They do a wonderful job maintaining it and keeping it looking so perfect, and in that regard, it's like Barbie.

Yelp
I recently saw C.S. Lewis Further Up Further In. The play itself was fantastic, but the bathroom situation was traumatic. This was an older crowd who grew up with separate bathrooms. How extremely uncomfortable the ladies were going into the bathrooms where men were at urinals. The men were uncomfortable too. I know things are changing, but I will not be attending anything again at this theater.

Yelp
This is a gorgeous theater. The 3 star rating is because of their technology. I had my e-tickets ready for the usher to scan, but she told me their scanners weren't working, so I needed a paper ticket. I had to join a long line of people who had gone through the same process. It was unfortunate. Hopefully they'll be able to get back on track.

Yelp
They did an awesome job renovating this place. The stage was set and we enjoyed the thought provoking play THE WHITE CARD

Yelp
I went to see an Emerson theater show here. I always wondered what it looked like inside when I used to wall in front of this historical landmark. I have to say professional photos look better the real. The interior decor looks bleak in color, reminding me of an old church. I thought no seat was bad seat. I got pretty cheap tickets for 25 bucks close to the front. Our tickets were already printed and even though we were late to get our tickets, it was not an issue. Return back home using the t was a problem, not as many trains, taking longer than usual.. so we did uber. I would definitely come here to see a show again. I especially thought the visual set up was great.. alive and dead talking, some type of illusion using techonology..

Yelp
This theater is beautiful! Once I put on my glasses and looked up I was amazed. Don't forget to look up! Staff were pleasant. The acrobats we saw were amazing too, but the review is for the center.

Yelp
This theater is so beautiful! There is usually a bit of a bottle neck on the way out of the theaters but overall things move pretty quickly.

Yelp
Nice theater to see a production. Good seats even in the balcony.
