Beverly Hills’ The Larder Replacement Is an Art Deco Italian Stunner | Eater LA

"Located on the prominent corner of Burton Way and San Vicente, this restaurant opened on July 22 as a glamorous reworking of Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne’s former The Larder at Burton Way. A partnership between Amici Brentwood owner Tancredi Deluca and Rick Caruso’s company, the team took over the shuttered space in April, added cozy patios on both sides, and created an all-day, art‑deco bistro framed by floor-to-ceiling windows. The menu focuses on Northern Italian fare with classic staples and seasonal rotations—early hours serve coffees, pastries, French toast, and frittatas, while the main offerings include house-made pastas, favorites carried over from Amici Brentwood, and crowd-pleasers like cacio e pepe. The wine list emphasizes small-scale producers from Italy and California. Designed by Amy Kim of AK Design Network, the space makes strong use of ample outdoor seating; hours are roughly 8 a.m.–4 p.m. for daytime service and 5–10 p.m. for dinner daily." - Mona Holmes

If you're looking for a delicious and authentic Italian experience in LA, look no further than Emilia! This charming restaurant instantly transports you to Italy with its warm atmosphere and friendly service. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted by Eddy, a waiter who made us feel welcome and comfortable. His attentiveness and recommendations throughout the night were top-notch. Now, let's get to the star of the show: the food! We started with the crispy calamari, perfectly light and seasoned with a touch of lemon. The risotto was creamy and bursting with flavor, and the ravioli pasta, oh my goodness, it was simply divine. Each dish was fresh, flavorful, and made with care. Overall, Emilia exceeded our expectations on all levels. The delicious food, attentive service, and charming atmosphere made it a truly memorable night. We highly recommend checking it out and giving Eddy our regards! P.S. I hope Google Maps allows you to tag Eddy in this review, he truly deserves some recognition!

Best food. Best staff!! This place is a must stop when I’m in Los Angeles. Cleanest freshest most European like food. And one time I had my luggage there and needed to get into an Uber, and the staff helped me. They go above and beyond I can’t say enough good things.

Perfect for a romantic date night. Food is excellent. Wine selection is delicious. Carmelo and the team are the best! Great atmosphere and location... a great LA restaurant.

Came here for Dine LA. $25 for an appetizer and entree. I got the jidori chicken sandwich and the portion was massive. I am not a big fan of olive oil, but the olive oil that they used was very delicious, fruity, and not at all oily. It was great quality olive oil and gave me a new appreciation for oil. The Bolognese wasn't very memorable for me, it did taste like they use freshly made pasta tho! The zucchini soup was so light and delicious, would definitely get that one again. We parked in the Trader Joe's underground lot and with validation it was free on Sunday...a rarity to find free parking in LA. I was prepared to pay for the time over the free hour!

Google
I really like this place. The food is good for a small restaurant, and they have a good Italian wine list. If you are in the area, well worth the stop. Update- I stopped in again. Still great.

This Italian restaurant is a hidden Gem and more people should try it. The food is absolutely delicious. Their Ricotta Orange Pancakes are amazing.

Yelp
FOOD I enjoyed everything here including the French toast, the ricotta pancakes, and what my group ordered. INSIDE is clean and very bright. It has an upscale diner type feel with big windows that let in a lot of light. They do have outdoor seating. SERVICE was great as my friend knew the server. I'd definitely come back and eat here to try other items on the menu. Parking is easy at Trader Joe's parking structure then getting it validated at the restaurant but beware they only validate for a certain number of hours.

Hideki F.

Yelp
The food and service were very good! The parking is a little tricky, but you can easily find the spot!

Yelp
Great food, great service. Weekend brunch - Ricotta pancakes to die for. Great eggs benedict. All the other breakfast items are delicious. Beretta salad on the main menu is great. Quiet ambiance.

We love all the food and the service is excellent!! The staff is so friendly, and they accommodate all our requests. Love their weekend brunch!

Yelp
My daughter and I had dinner here last night after spending the day at a museum. The decor is very nice. Lots of natural light, cute color scheme and furniture (has a bit of European feel to it). The service was good. Although there is not a lot of street parking, you can park in the building garage, and the restaurant will validate. My daughter and I specifically chose this restaurant as she wanted linguine with clams, and I saw this restaurant had that on their permanent menu. Their menu is not extensive (less than 10 pasta dishes). We were the first table seated on a Saturday night. When we left, there were only 2 other tables seated. They bring out some bread and breadsticks, both of which were good. They also bring out some julienned vegetables, which I've never seen before and didn't really get. We had: Fried Calamari (4.5/5) - best dish of the night. Lightly breaded, perfectly fried and the calamari had a lot of flavor. Came with some fried zucchini as well. Comes with accompanying marinara and ranch sauces. Tagliatelle alla Bolognese (4/5) - Good version of a standard bolognese dish. Linguine with "clams" (2/5) - As I mentioned, this was the reason we came here. We were also the first table seated on a Saturday night. When we ordered this and the bolognese, the waiter told us these 2 were the most popular pasta dishes at the restaurant. Unfortunately, he came back a few minutes later to tell us they had "run out of clams." Very disappointing given they only have 9 pasta dishes on the menu and claim this is one of their signature dishes. Wouldn't most restaurants be "ready" for the Sat night crowd? We got to the restaurant a bit before they opened and saw what I assumed was the staff meeting prior to opening. They don't talk about what they have/don't have? He said they could substitute shrimp. Given the limited alternatives, we agreed. The shrimp was pretty sad. The overall dish had a bitter aftertaste. It just seems to me that for a restaurant to conduct business this way just seems like they don't care anymore. Overall, a disappointing experience.

Yelp
Enjoyed a nice brunch following a surgery at Cedars. The ambiance was open, bright and airy. Started with a bold cafe latte paired with a scrumptious Italian donut filled with strawberry jam. I enjoyed the veggie frittata accompanied by a lightly dressed fresh salad and sour dough toast. Attentive service and outdoor seating. Nearby parking underground by Trader Joes.

Yelp
ABOUT Emilia is a beautiful, classy Italian restaurant. It is close to Cedars Sinai Hospital. It is next door to Trader Joe's which is in the same building. PARKING (IMPORTANT) Park in the Trader Joe's parking lot around the corner for free validated parking from the restaurant (2.5 hour validation). There is also metered parking on the street but it can be tough to find. OUR ORDER For breakfast or brunch I highly suggest the ricotta pancakes. They are very light and fluffy and come with fresh fruit and syrup. My dining companion also loved the frittata bianca which was a vegetable frittata that came with a side of potatoes or fruit. Portions sizes were generous. Food was delicious. AMBIANCE AND SERVICE Service is so nice and friendly here. They are very attentive and made us feel very welcome. The atmosphere and music was very relaxing. It was not very busy for weekday breakfast so it's nice if you want to go somewhere more low-key. They do have an outdoor patio but the art deco inside is the way to go, in my opinion. Also, there is counter space inside which would be a comfortable place to eat solo. PRO TIP Emilia is part of the Caruso rewards program (ie. rewards for shopping the Caruso owned businesses like The Grove and Americana at Brand etc.). Download the Caruso Signature app and upload the credit card you will be using. Also check in on the app to earn rewards on your dining purchase and/or if you already have enough points on the app, you can use your credit from shopping at other Caruso destinations to redeem a dining reward here. They also give you a reward for your birthday which can be used at Emilia. WHO IS EMILIA? There is no person named Emilia. Emilia is actually a place in Italy. According to my research on the Internet, the region is known for its delicious food. ADDITIONALLY You can make reservations through Opentable. They had a special truffle menu which I did not try since I was there for breakfast but truffles are a real delicacy and can be a delicious splurge. I think it's a very cool feature. Buon appetito!

Yelp
The service was very good and food so so. I had hoped to like this place more. Maybe an off night.

Yelp
Food is good. I had the focaccia with mozzarella, tomatoes and arugula. It's big and comes with a sunny side egg but with black pepper on it. French toast is good - not my favorite because it's too cinnamon-ee for me. Prosciutto with melon - dad says outstanding. Frittata Bianca with the whole egg - very good my partner says. Julio was the best part ! The heat is the only unfortunate thing. Dad was sweating the whole time and there was nothing to be done.

Yelp
Back for more... The spaghetti was a lukewarm but my daughter loved her Chicken Paillard.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for their pasta after hearing great things about it. When I finally got the chance to go, it turned out to be too early in the day--they were only serving breakfast then. I decided to try their Toast all'avocado, and it was good! The coffee was great, too, which I appreciate since I'm particular about my coffee. The ambiance is calm and peaceful, making it a lovely spot for a relaxing morning meal. The staff was very nice and added to the positive experience. I'll definitely be back to try their pasta when I get the chance!

Yelp
Slow service and food was not great. I came for dinner at 7pm on a Saturday night and it was empty . I ordered the carcofi salad, cacio pepe risotto and steak salad . Nothing tasted good and it took almost an hour for the entrees to come out. I asked the steak to be cooked medium -well and it came out medium -rare. I ended up sending it back to get it cooked more. They also messed up on the risotto and had to make it again because they added asparagus instead of mushroom. For an empty restaurant , I expected better service and zero mistakes . I will definitely not be coming back .

Yelp
Somehow took no pictures of this meal which is a total shame because it was amazing. Two friends and I came here on our last night in town to celebrate an awesome trip. This was a great last stop to round it all out! Everything from the cocktails and wine, to the bread and charcuterie and entrees was perfect and we were delighted. The romantic vibe was set as soon as we got there! Our server was super professional, and he recommended an amazing sparking red--which I wouldn't have ordered without his recommendation--but I loved. I ordered the penne ortolana, which was so good, and I still haven't stopped thinking about the eggplant caponata. I will definitely be keeping this on my LA itinerary :)

Yelp
I have been here for breakfast a few times. It is located in a beautiful place with big windows. Sitting outside is quiet and peaceful. Their scrambled eggs are done perfectly. My favorite part is the cookies and donuts they serve at the counter.
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
Non existing service... thry were oit of eggs... only scrambled, i ordered basic breakfast... thry brought a pile of eggs... i asked where potatoes and bacon were, they made them while my eggs were getting cold... then never brought toast, horrible service, would not recommend even if food was free

Yelp
Exquisite!!!!! Homemade offerings prepared to savory, delicate, mouthwatering perfection! I was amazingly delighted with every course! Professional and friendly service. Gentle music, lovely surroundings. Large panoramic windows for lots of space. Very clean. Lovely time!!!

Yelp
Lovely calm restaurant that never disappoints with tasty food. The Benedict brunch is de'lish! Edward is always very accommodating and makes us feel welcome and at home.

Yelp
Affordability priced classy joint with basic breakfast dishes. My mom can't get enough of it. It's a little dead at times but easy to park in Trader Joe's next door.

Yelp
Came here during the weekday for breakfast and found it through Yelp. The place is small but very elegant. They offer indoor and outdoor dining. The staff was super friendly and service and food were outstanding! I would like to come back for lunch and or dinner as they seem to have some delicious choices. For first timers I would definitely recommend the ricotta pancakes and poached eggs.
google avatar

Shan L.

Yelp
I attended a breakfast there for work. It was an amazing little Italian restaurant at the corner of Le Doux and Burton in Beverly Hills. The team at Emilia was amazing and very attentive. I was greeted as soon as the door opened by one of the team (not a hostess). They weren't super busy at breakfast but had a steady flow of dinners. The food was amazing! I had a cappuccino and a Tramezzino Tostato. There were a few people in my group that ordered the Avocado Toast and they don't go light on the avocado! The decor is as welcoming as the staff. They have indoor and outdoor dining...and parking! The outdoor seating is lovely, but it think it may get a bit loud due to the location being near San Vicente. They are next to the Trader Joe's and 1-2 blocks from the Beverly Center. I will definitely be back! Thank you for a wonderful breakfast!

Nikki B.

Yelp
Such a cute place and awesome location! Our server was so polite, the food was delicious, and the wine is decently priced. Recommend to all locals!
google avatar

Angela C.

Yelp
The food was very disappointing. The Ricotta pancakes were dry and tasteless. The bacon was greasy and low quality. The only redeeming qualities were that the price was not bad for the area and the interior is bright and decent enough to be a basic brunch spot.

D S.

Yelp
Really tasty food with excellent service and a very friendly staff. Recommended for a casual stop.

Raymond Derrick D.

Yelp
Th is was my first time here and I liked it. However, it wasn't a fabulous experience. It was honestly quite bland there. Nothing felt unique or special about Emilia. Besides it's cute name, I'd see this place and immediately walk by. What I ate though was good. I enjoyed their egg with focaccia bread with heirloom tomatoes and arugula along with sparkling water. It was a beautiful entree and tasted really good. And the bread before the entree was great too...it was served with olive oil and amazing balsamic vinaigrette. The service was meh...our server didn't seem like he wanted to be there and was just "doing his job." #bareminimum My friend had their mimosa and she complained that it was mainly orange juice with a "splash" of champagne. Would I come back? No. Would I recommend this place. Sure, cuz the food was good and there were a few items that I'd like to try IF I were to return.
google avatar

Basil M.

Yelp
I don't get it. Based on Yelp and google reviews, I assumed this was a hidden gem in LA. Boy was I wrong. The beet carpaccio needed salt and acid, and the yogurt sauce that was supposed to be on it was little to none. The truffle risotto had good flavor, but the first time it came out the rice was crunchy. I sent it back. It came back out still very very Al dente. For $75, it should have been perfect. The cioppino had good flavor, but there wasn't enough broth. There was maybe 1 or 2 tiny scallops, there was 2 large shrimp and then some small shrimp that appeared to be the small frozen bay shrimp. The squid was very tough. Again - for these prices, you expect better quality seafood. Not going back.
google avatar

Eve M.

Yelp
Cute cafe with great food ... came here from brunch on a weekday ended up staying for hours. The place is super cute. Parkin was easy and food was great. Amazing options

Moti N.

Yelp
Was very disappointed at Mother's day brunch . It started with 2 options out of the menu not available as the waitress said we're out of those mind you this was 11am Mother's day brunch. Service by Julio wasn't all that great either no salt paper not hot sauce everything needed to be asked for and seems like Mr Julio is running around doing other things while we're waiting. Food gets cold we get cold asked to turn the heater on Julio says yes disappears comes back with lighter does other things goes off again before making attempt to get the heater started. Comes back can't get it started telling us he needs someone to help we wat they finally got it going but never thought to move it so it will actually spread heat on us I get up move it myself. Finally canceled our desert and got out of this place that make no sense to its existence.. Hope Madam Emilia had a better experience this Mother's day.

Yelp
Cute and quaint on the corner you find this coffee shop. Handsome waiters and staff take care of you. They have outside seating and wear a shield gloves and face mask to keep your Covid stress at ease here. My latte was perfect and my sandwich cheesy goodness. The french toast with lots of oats and cinnamon to compliment the rest. The presentation of the Eggs Benedict with asparagus with executed perfectly. Very quiet as is Beverly Hills now since Covid started. Perfect spot to talk and catch up with friends.
google avatar

Yelp
A nice quiet night after a long day at work. This is what Emilia offers over smith old school jazz, (think sultry trumpets) and a nice glass of wine with candle light. I didn't stay to try the food but I have a feeling it's pretty good. The service is impeccable. Carmelo is kind and attentive. I'll be back for sure.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent food and ambience! We went their for breakfast, service was outstanding. Servers were very polite and profesional. Holiday music was on point

Yelp
Literally no one except us on a Saturday afternoon. We were surprised by how little attraction this restaurant/brunch spot got. The food was good, & service incredible. It's very cute inside, but I'd say it's average. Nothing blew me out of the water... plus I really expected a whole lot more to their pancakes, but that was probably something I wouldn't recommend. Their pastas are A++, just Al dente enough, & the burrata salad I also highly recommend. It's a cute little spot that did not disappoint, but it also wasn't the best we had where we had our minds blown out of the water. Overall a 7/10 experience & food.

Bijan S.

Yelp
Don't do it. Tasteless food. Very very basic quality. Service was a one man show. Don't ask me where all the five star reviews came from, I never understand.

Yelp
Me gusta este restaurante mucho. El interior es con el color verde y las sillas también. El mesero fue fantástico.

Yelp
Great atmosphere for good food. The suggested wine was nice and the grilled prawns were good. Great service with good eats. Nothing mind blowing in regards to Italian cuisine but it worth a try.

Yelp
We stayed at SLS and found this gem while taking a walk. The food was so delicious and authentic. We ended up visiting this place for several breakfasts, lunches and dinner! The lattes were also amazing! Service was quick, courteous and the environment was calming. Will definitely be back

Yelp
We came here for Sunday brunch. Made a reservation but the restaurant was empty. They have outdoor shaded seating and great service. We had egg white vegetable frittata with crispy potatoes and toast/fresh jam. It was very good. We also tried the chocolate croissant and I would not recommend it - was too dry. There is street parking.

Yelp
Tonight had an early 6 PM dinner with a couple of business associates. All 3 of us had a long day, wanted a simple good dinner. Emilia delivered precisely what the 3 of us were looking for. We drank their lovely Cavicchioli Lambrusco Vigna, very dry and crisp Lambrusco. When you come here and they ask you what you would like to drink? Just tell them a carafe of the Lambrusco noted above at $20. You get 3 glasses of delicious bubbly for $20. With the Lambrusco they put out lovely focaccia with olives, olive oil and balsamic. Also on the table was mandolin slice fennel, slices of carrots, red and yellow peppers. Lovely! We chose to share their calamari special. Each ring was dipped and fried to perfection. It was accompanied by homemade tartar sauce and a tomato sauce. This was calamari at it's absolute best. Someone in the kitchen obviously understands squid. Then I enjoyed a flawless Insalata di Cesare. Would be tough to improve on this dish. Seasoned properly was the most delicious croutons. I will absolutely have their Caesar salad again. Then had the Spaghetti Clams. Perfect pasta + perfect cooked clams in a white sauce. No cream and I assume no butter? It was a lovely light way to celebrate spaghetti + clams. For dessert Angelo brought us a Tiramisu to share. I am typically not a Tiramisu fan; however, this was the Tiramisu they serve you in heaven after you pass through the pearly gates. It was freaking amazing. Lovely food, lovely service = a perfect dinner. Will I return? Dumb question. Of course I will return. This is a true 5 star experience.

Yelp
Guillermo and Carlos welcomed us with a smile and since its our first time here, Guillermo guided us what's the specialty they have for today . Food was amazing and the restaurants was spotless . All staff was extremely friendly and always checked on us if we need anything . This is one of the best Italian restaurants here in LA and will surely coming back and tell our friends and family. Francisco is a great Chef and food is deliciouso. Thanks for hiring best employees! Mucho gusto the food here and you guys deserve a million stars

Yelp
Situated toward the north end of the La Cienega restaurant row is this classy Italian place with modern and sun-drenched dining parlor. We came on an early Saturday evening. The waiters were all in soft white shirts and black trousers, while the hosts/ managers (yes, there were more than one) sported casual and GQ-ish Italian suits. Everyone was super polite and attentive..... you know you pay for all this! ;) We ordered some pasta and salads to share, risottos to go with the Branzino -- all good and fresh. The desserts were our favorite- both the tiramisu and the Creme Boules were delicious. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 was I felt the dinner prices were a bit higher than reasonable -- the quality was excellent but the portion sizes were small. I heard their brunch menu is more reasonable so hope to come back and try them sometime.

Yelp
In a relatively short period of time, this restaurant seems to have attracted quite a following, and it's easy to see why. The food is delectable and the service is on point. Came here for lunch with some of my co-workers to celebrate my last day on the job. We were a bit uncertain of the final number joining, and the servers were very accommodating about putting tables together for us and letting us place orders for those who showed up later. I ordered the insalata di carciofi, which was quite delicious and not too heavy. Everyone was happy with their orders and the kitchen was also very accommodating of special requests. The manager insisted that we try some of their desserts, so they brought out a panna cotta, a tiramisu, and a creme brulee. All were delicious and worth saving space for. It's a pity we only discovered this place on my last day, but better late than never!

Elle L.

Yelp
Highly recommend this small restaurant The food was all very fresh and delicious! Wish I had taken a photo to share Try it I'm sure you will be very pleased

Yelp
Food was meh - and it came out wrong, and was expensive for the quality that it was. We didn't want to be annoying and send it back so we ate it. Definitely not somewhere that you would want to return to.

Yelp
Love Emilia. Super cute, my local corner restaurant / cafe. Never too crowded, but just the right amount of company to have that neighborhood feel. I've been there now several times for brunch or just a beverage while catching up with emails - on the WiFi, headphones in. And oh, how pleasant. In the autumn, and I imagine equally as pleasant in all seasons as there are heaters and both indoor and outdoor seating options. The breakfast food I tried was as expected: also very pleasant. Note that hot chocolate is not on on or off menu option, so if you're caffeine free, plan for a different beverage. Looking forward to becoming a constant repeat customer for many months and years to come!
