Emirgan Sütiş - Review - Emirgan - Istanbul - The Infatuation

"I spend most of my year in the US now, so when I come back to Turkey, I like to come straight here for breakfast since nobody makes breakfast they way they make it here. Basically I order the whole menu! All the ingredients are so fresh, from the menemeh egg & tomato dish down to the perfect crispy bread topped with honey & cream. Really you should eat family style here with a bunch of friends and family." - Team Infatuation

A classic Turkish breakfast restaurant, mostly for locals but increasingly amongst tourists as well. In contrast to some other breakfast places in Istanbul (only offering a fixed spread breakfast option with a fixed price), they allow you to order your breakfast à la carte. Weekends are usually very crowded, so go early, ideally before 10am. It can also get a little chaotic with too many families with kids. As they are a well-known patisserie at heart, their pastries and desserts are also worth trying. The highlight of our breakfast was the börek (both kıyma and peynir), one of the best I’ve had so far in Istanbul. They have a valet service, and at the time of writing this, it was 400 TRY (but it will probably increase by the time you’re reading this), so take that into account as well when you are planning. Although the seating is located by the Bosphorus, the view is not great from the outdoor seating area due to the road in between and the busy traffic (it can even be worse to sit outside from time to time due to all the exhaust gas and honking cars).

Absolutely terrific breakfast! We were served by Erkan Bey and his service is absolutely amazing! A must in İstanbul. Turkish breakfast is unbeatable around the world!

Google
The best place for tourists! But unfotunately not for İstanbulers. They don’t use any mahaleb(a special herb-prunus mahaleb- for doughs in religious days) for “kandil simit”!

Amazing service and amazing food! The waiter was so welcoming that we had to ask for his name. Mehmet Yilmaz was so sweet and considerate. We came into the restaurant tired and cold from the rain and him and his colleagues took us in and made the restaurant feel like home. Big thank you to everyone, especially Mehmet.

As a foreigner, I do not recommend this place. We were seated at a table without heating, with the temperature outside being 0 degrees Celsius. When we asked to change tables, the waitress started explaining that they don't change tables in this restaurant. Guests who arrived literally a minute after us were given a better table. I don't understand the behavior of saying something with a smile on your face and then turning away and ignoring us. In Europe, this is considered disrespectful. Perhaps the "guy from Kenya" couldn't explain the standards of behavior in civilized countries to this woman. Overall, for a 20-minute stay with constant interruptions to our conversation and approaches to our table, I do not recommend it. Apparently, people in this place still have a lot to learn about respect for others. The price was exorbitant for nothing special. Two rice puddings, which weren't tasty (too much sugar), and four teas cost 970 lira... A tragedy. Maybe it's good for local customers, but for a foreign guest, it looks terrible. I'm giving it 1 star because of having to beg to change tables; in a restaurant like this, that shouldn't be a problem. Total ignorance. The guests who were seated next to us also left with unhappy faces.

Google
Turkish tea, a single small glass was charged 105,00 TL, Bread 50,00 TL. Extremely expensive for the products served as a kg of row tea costs only 200,00 TL in the country. Good location, but you buy the Bosphorus view blocked by valet-parked cars in front of your table, despite their typical local dishes unfortunately it’s a crowded tourist trap!

Yelp
On my recent trip to Istanbul, I reunited with an old friend and we made a beeline for Emirgan Sütiş--because some places aren't just restaurants, they're homecoming rituals. When I lived in Istanbul, this spot was practically my second living room. My family, my friends, me... we all gravitated here like moths to a flame (or Turks to tea). The weather was perfect, which meant sitting outside with the full Bosporus experience. I swear, one minute I was sipping my tea, and the next I was fully hypnotized by the view, contemplating if I should just move back and become a professional tea-drinking waterfront philosopher. The breeze, the boats, the clinking of tiny tea glasses--pure magic. The staff? Surprisingly excellent. Attentive without hovering, friendly without being fake, and patient enough to deal with two people taking way too long to decide between breakfast or also more breakfast. We went classic: a traditional Turkish breakfast spread. Even though I've recently lost weight and now eat like a polite bird, I still forced myself (for scientific and nostalgic purposes, of course) to enjoy every bite. The cheese selection was spot-on, the tomatoes actually tasted like tomatoes (a luxury these days), and the menemen was perfectly runny--just the right level of "don't wear white." And the bread... let's just say it kept mysteriously disappearing from the table. No idea how. Must have been the wind. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the place can get very busy, which sometimes means waiting longer than you'd like, but honestly, with that view, complaining feels rude. Overall, Emirgan Sütiş is still the charming, delicious, Bosporus-side classic I remember. I'm already plotting my return--preferably with no diet, no schedule, and unlimited tea refills.

Yelp
This is my second time coming to this amazing place for Turkish breakfast. Located next to the marmara sea, with the amazing view. The customer service is well know that's why this place is always packed. Me and my wife and her friend waited in line for like 10 minutes to sit down. This turkish breakfast consist of the normal veggies bread and different dips of jelly, butter, Nutella and honey for the . They also give you beef burek and meneme( scramble eggs with peppers . They also have fresh squeeze orange juice . You want to go to a NIce breakfast spot go to Emirgan.

Yelp
Late Breakfast after 12pm. It's very crowded on the weekends, and that's because they've got great food and service. Must visit.

Yelp
Personal Favorites: Turkish Tea and Sight Viewing Style: Turkish Ambiance: Amazing View of Bosporus Service: Great. Friendly and very fast Sutis is famous with Desserts made with dairy products. I have never seen any Cafe faster than fast-food restaurant. Staff is always smiling and very conservative. The service industry in Turkey is very pleasing either you are a Tourist or you are a local dude:) Surprisingly Tip Culture is never developed here. If you tip them and end up visiting the same place. People will welcome you like a King instead of Prince :) Very good and relaxing ambiance and very very good service. Parking is a bit problem but Taxi or Valet options are available. Hope you enjoy

Yelp
Average taste of food. Always noisy and crowded environment. Even at midnight busy like hell. Staff trying to look proffessional but they are always around your neck, cleaning table, moving the plates has not finished yet. Like saying 'clear the table, make room for new customers'. They did not let us sit the table near the fence which was a hot spot. They said it was reserved and they are coming in ten minutes. We left one hour later, no one came to sit. I had a headache all night because of the noise. I would keep out.

Yelp
They do Turkish breakfast by the Bosphorous wonderfully!! I've come here in large and small groups and frequent this spot often. I usually get the plain menemen and ask to substitute the assorted bread basket for a basket of simit. In the past, I have added cucumbers with tomatoes on the side, but the tomatoes are never good... Even in the summer the tomatoes lack flavor and are tough. Skip 'em!!! Service is ok and the food is dependable. They also make a great cappuccino. There's lots of outdoor seating, but if you have your heart set on getting one on the edge you should plan to arrive on the early side 8AM on weekends. Saturday is a better bet than Sunday, as breakfast places are more crowded on a Sunday.
