The 17 Best Restaurants In Coconut Grove - Miami - The Infatuation

"Emissary is usually busy with folks at the counter pecking at keyboards and puppies lounging on the brick sidewalk awaiting falling croissant flakes. Unlike them, you can have a full breakfast at this cafe and coffee bar. The food comes out fast, so you’ll likely get your granola parfait or cheesy egg sandwich before your laptop can power up. The rest of the menu is just what you want at a cafe like this: yogurt, eggy things, and pastries. They pull a great espresso, and it's perfect if you're looking for a quick salad or sandwich loaded with Italian meats for lunch." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo

The 11 Best Miami Coffee Shops & Cafes

"The tables are all in a laptop-free zone (between 9:30am-2pm), but the entire counter at this Grove coffee shop is perfect for keyboard surfers. There’s plenty of space at the bar for a 16-inch Macbook, cappuccino,  breakfast sandwich, and all of your unhinged sticky notes. You can just snack on a pastry here or have a full breakfast. The menu is just what you want at a cafe like this: sandwiches, salads, eggy things, and pastries from Flour & Weirdoughs. Plus, the food comes out fast, so you’ll likely get your granola parfait or cheesy egg sandwich before your laptop can power up." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino

Emissary - Review - Coconut Grove - Miami - The Infatuation

"Even though it’s from DC, Emissary feels like a Coconut Grove spot made for locals. Folks at the counter peck at their keyboards while puppies lounge on the warm brick sidewalk awaiting falling croissant flakes. Unlike them, you can have a full breakfast at this cafe and coffee bar. The food comes out fast, so you’ll likely get your granola parfait or cheesy egg sandwich before your laptop can power up. The rest of the menu is just what you want at a cafe like this: sandwiches, salads, eggy things, and pastries from Flour & Weirdoughs. But if you’re a coffee nerd who uses a timer to bloom your grounds at home, you might not find the diversity of beans you desire. They only offer one espresso blend and one drip blend, which they rotate. But at least they can pull a good espresso. At some point (when Miami’s permitting process allows), they’ll also start to serve wine at night. video credit: Virginia Otazo video credit: Virginia Otazo" - Virginia Otazo

Miami’s New Restaurant Openings

"Emissary in Coconut Grove wants to be a lot of things. By day, the place functions as a coffee shop serving matcha, espresso, and other seasonal beverages. They also have sandwiches, salads, and pastries from Flour & Weirdoughs. It’s still in soft opening, but eventually it’ll be a wine bar at night too." - mariana trabanino, virginia otazo

If you’re looking to grab coffee in the Coconut Grove area, this spot is a must. The coffee is amazing—rich, smooth, and full of flavor. The breakfast options are also impressive, and it’s clear they use top-notch quality products in everything they serve.

Stopped by Emissary Café and had a great experience. The coffee was excellent—high-quality espresso, and their take on a cortadito was especially delicious. Service was impressively fast without feeling rushed. The staff was attentive and made sure everything was just right. I also really liked the bar seating aspect of the shop—it adds a nice touch and makes for a cozy spot to enjoy your coffee. Overall, a cute spot with great coffee and good vibes. Definitely a place I’d return to!

Came here on a friend’s recommendation and had a lovely breakfast and great coffee! It feels like a cozy local spot, and the fact that it’s dog-friendly is such a cute touch. And also shoutout to Alejandro for being kind and attentive! Thank you for making us feel so welcome! We’ll definitely be back soon!

Love this cafe, been to a lot of cafes in Miami but they know what they r doing fr. Good matcha (no watered down sugary blended whatever). Breakfast was 10/10 better breakfast than a lot of normal restaurants. I got that little tray with the jam and the prosciutto 🤌🏼.

Wow. Just finished breakfast here and 10/10 would recommend! despite what look to be a long line, ordering went fast and food delivery came quick. Ordered the protein plate and the baguette with preserves and scramble. Both were delicious and made with high-quality ingredients and attentive care. Sat at the bar with my mom and the two chefs working the line really knew what they were doing.

Finding good coffee outside Oz is like finding a cold beer in the Simpson Desert — near impossible. But this place? Mate. It's the oasis you've been dying for! Coffee so good you could shoey it after a 3 day bender and it would still be better than the other river water they seem to sell everywhere else. --- You know the struggle — you ask for a flat white overseas and end up with a cup of frothy regret. I'd nearly given up hope. Then I found this joint. First sip, and I swear I heard kookaburras laughing in the distance. Proper Aussie-style coffee. Smooth, strong, no burnt nonsense. It was like stumbling onto a hidden spring in a land of instant sachets and sad americanos. If you’re gagging for a decent brew that actually tastes like home — this is it. No mirage. Just bloody good coffee.

I visited today for the first time. The positives: super cute decor, great location. Food was ok. I ordered the ham and cheese croissant, which was good but $17 for a ham and cheese croissant seems too pricey honestly. I know they use flour and weirdoughs croissants (the plain croissant is $6 and their ham and cheese croissant is $8.90 at F&W) I understand they use different ingredients but I still find it hard to justify the price point. We also tried their iced latte and iced matcha latte which were not that good unfortunately, we found both had too much milk in proportion to espresso/matcha. The price for coffee is fair and comparable to other coffee shops around The Grove. The space is a bit limited, works for a quick bite but I felt a bit of a rush to leave and let other people sit. I think overall it’s good, but not good enough to justify the price for the ham and cheese croissant, and the coffee is just ok.

Google
Emissary is a gem in the Grove! We had an iced coffee with honey syrup and a regular latte. Both were smooth, flavorful, and well-crafted. Sitting outside was a treat with great weather and prime people-watching. Frank was outstanding and a real asset for this place. He was warm, attentive, and always made sure we had what we needed. We’ll be back!

Yelp
I used to try to find the best coffees in Miami but kind of gave up a few years ago because I don't find many great spots. But I was a pleasantly surprise on my way to a different place this morning when I saw Emissary (it's in the back parts of the Grove and has a small entrance so I almost missed it). Beautiful decor and filled with light, they have a nice diner bar you can sit at, or, if you're lucky, you can try to snag a seat at one of their tables. The coffee was good and they have an impressive food menu. I didn't have time to get food this trip but will have to go back for their prosciutto and egg breakfast croissant sandwich.

Yelp
Emissary is one of my favorite spots for coffee in Miami, and definitely my top choice in Coral Gables. Their iced cappuccino is a standout, topped with a rich, heavy cream cold foam--an absolute must-try. The breakfast menu may be simple, but it's well-executed. The avocado toast, smoked salmon sandwich, and breakfast sandwich are solid choices, all made with quality, fresh ingredients and delicious bread from Flour and the Weirdoughs. The one downside is that their lunch sandwiches aren't available before 11:30, so if you're an early bird like me, you might miss out. I usually come early, as it gets crowded with the post-Pilates crowd after 9, making it a bit tough to snag a table. But on the plus side, you'll spot lots of adorable dogs around! As for the service, they are not rude but it still doesn't feel friendly. Overall, though, I'd still highly recommend Emissary for anyone in the area.

Yelp
I want to firstly share that I have been trying to come here each weekend and there's no parking. I am deeply disappointed with the place. The aesthetics are 10/10 great for photos and Instagram. But the coffee not so much. I got an iced cappuccino and it was tiny. I got the pistachio milk . You can't even taste the flavor . I am a big coffee fan and this spot was not it. I asked a Barista if this is the pistachio and she said yes. Without any further explanation. Overall not the best customer service. The almond croissant was good from Flour and Weirdoughs a local Miami bakery. I saw another yelp review where the Iced Cappuccino looked completely different. The place is tiny as well. Not really a cozy coffee shop. More of a high end feel. I am willing to give it another try. Maybe I need to order something else.

Yelp
This place is SO cute!! I love walking in Coconut Grove, and a walk is even better with a nice coffee to go with it. Cue Emissary - this super nice coffee shop and cafe right off of Tigertail and Mary! I opted for an iced cappuccino with vanilla which was delicious. My friend opted for an iced coffee. While we did not dine there, I did spy that they offer Flour and Weirdoughs treats. Anyone who is a fan of F&W is definitely someone I am a fan of, too! Their coffee is also from some of my favorites - the folks at Counter Culture. You know a coffee shop knows what's up when they are brewing Counter Culture. I must return to try their breakfast , sandwiches, and salads as their menu looks quite tasty. It seems like a good place to co-work as well. Parking can be a bit tricky in this area - but there are usually spots down tigertail, as well as a garage in the same building on oak ave.

Yelp
Food and ambiance were amazing! Great new addition to the grove. Would definitely go again :)

Yelp
Very cute coffee counter in the Grove! I love this concept! I love how light and airy it is in there. Perfect place to post up and get some work done and enjoy some coffee! I ordered an iced latte with pistachio milk! it was delicious high quality coffee. It came in a glass with a lot of ice, which kept the coffee nice and cold! For food i tried an item that debuted the day i was there, i cant find it on the menu now but I believe it was called le jiffy! It was a veggie sandwich and the ingredients tasted SO fresh. The ciabatta had such a nice flavor and the tomatoes, avocados, and arugula were dressed with EVOO and the perfect amount of salt and pepper. The plates were so cute I sat at the bar and enjoyed my food and coffee. Im going to be extra pickyyy and say the one downfall is the staff is not that friendly. I tried making conversation to a few of them and they didnt really want to talk to me LOL. Traditionally baristas are a little more talkative and upbeat. But i understand they may be stressed because they just opened. Anyways, I would definitely return!! This place is great.

Yelp
I've heard great things of this new spot in the Grove so wanted to check it out for breakfast. On their menu online they have certain items until 12pm and others afterward so made it before 12 to try items on both menus. As I entered, I was not really greeted and the barista that took my order wasn't the friendliest so I tried for that not to ruin my experience. I ordered an iced latte along with the egg and cheese brioche breakfast sandwich and the egg scramble and toast. It was a busy weekend so I was lucky to find one spot to sit. The decor is really nice and modern yet minimalist. I received my coffee and it was delicious. They use counter culture coffee, which has great espresso. It took about 35 minutes to receive the food and it was given to me in to-go containers. I guess the barista thought I wanted the food to go? We unpacked the food and ate it there. The manager was really kind and apologetic for the delay. He gave us a chocolate chip cookie to try and another coffee. The breakfast was truly delicious. The eggs were perfectly cooked and great flavor. The brioche was soft and pillowy. The toast was crunchy and flavorful. Their butter and jam was also a really nice touch. The cookie was also really good. They use Flour & Weirdough pastries and bread and it's definitely great quality. Would definitely return to this spot and try some additional food and drink items. They have a nice menu with lots of options.

Yelp
It's about time! I was finally able to make it to Emissary for a brunch meeting and it did not disappoint. Starting off w the matcha latte, what's not to love the frothy heart design. Best part it is the matcha is sugar free. I ordered the eggs w avocado and substituted for the trending Domaselo protein bread. The quality of ingredients is seriously authentically good! Visible by the color of the eggs and the maldon salt generously sprinkled over the eggs and avocado. Olive oil quality was also amazingly tasty. And ofcourse, being in the Grove the aesthetic and vibe is chic and cool perfectly blended with its surroundings. The owner was there and he was super nice too! Next time I'll try the baked goods.

Yelp
Super cute!! Sit at the bar or a few low top tables available. Closes early 3pm so keep that in mind!

Yelp
Love this new spot in the Grove! I stopped in after walking by after a Yoga class I had nearby. The vibe was amazing & the interior is so chic. I ordered an egg sandwich and it was so good, I am a big fan of Flour & Weirdoughs so I love that they use their brioche. It was light and full of flavor and enjoyed the salad it was paired with. I will definitely be stopping here again after yoga!

Yelp
Cute little spot! I got an iced matcha with oat milk it was very tasty. It was pretty busy when we walked in, but our drinks came out fast! Definitely will stop by again sometime

Yelp
This is one of the chic-est coffee shops in Miami. Vibes are immaculate. Coffee is strong and dark, how I like it. There's free WiFi, bar and table seating. Only downside is I didn't see any outlets, but that's a sign to unplug and enjoy the coffee!

Yelp
Cozy, cute cafe in the grove. It's a small, local restaurant that you definitely want to go with just a book or maybe one friend. The iced cappuccino was delicious and the protein breakfast platter was filling for two people.

Gabrielle F.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop in the grove. I got a cortado and it was great, the coffee was very nicely done. The breakfast sandwich was pretty basic and wayyyy overpriced for a bun, egg and cheese and chives. Inside is clean and basic and they have some outdoor seating as well. I'll be back for the coffee and perhaps will try some lunch sandwiches which might be more bang for your buck.

Yelp
We stopped by for coffee, which was good, and the ambiance was pleasant. However, they don't allow dogs inside, which can be a dealbreaker in Miami. While I respect their policy, the employees weren't very helpful and gave off a vibe that they didn't want to be there. Overall, I don't think I'll be going back.

Maria P.

Yelp
Stopped by yesterday for the first time. Cute place. The woman that took my order was very nice. After receiving my latte, I sat down to enjoy it and was told by a different employee that they were closing. I tried finishing my latte quickly but not quick enough for her I guess because she became much more rude and essentially was kicking us out. If I had been told they were closing when ordering, I wouldn't have ordered. I totally understand she probably wanted to get home but there is a more polite way to treat customers. It was pretty disappointing and hopefully management helps her get some training.

Megan B.

Yelp
My favorite coffee. Love the amount of effort and quality of the drinks here. My go to order is a vanilla latte with extra ice. Love so much I drive 25 min just to get a drink. I've had the food here before but to be honest a little dissatisfied. I was excited because of all the quality, organic and local ingredients. But it seems a little plain and boring and a little overpriced for add-ons. I got the breakfast sandwich. I paid for prosciutto and avocado, and they tossed it in the side of the box. A little sloppy for a six dollar upcharge, $4 the prosciutto and $2 the avocado. I wanted to make my own sandwich. I would've done it at home would've liked if they put it nicely together for me. Even with that being said, I would still get food here, but I wouldn't go out of my way for the food. Definitely do for the coffee. One last thing I have to mention, I am a little disappointed that they don't have a number to contact them. They pretty much only have Instagram for means of communication and I drove out of my way to get my latte here Labor Day and when I got there at 12:20 they were closed early but didn't post on their Instagram that they were closing for Labor Day. Overall, really great quality place with the best coffee. Good food options. Closing early I think they should make their customers aware on social media!

Veronica M.

Yelp
Best avocado toast ever. Fresh hass avocado and big portion. Very attentive to our needs. I asked for additional ingredients and they say yes , even though it wasn't on the menu. I asked to warm my coffee and they brought a new one. Im looking forward to return.

Yelp
Sandwiches are way too expensive and tasteless. An X to another place in Miami. I asked if I could customize it but they said I cannot. I asked them to put cheese but they did not. Disappointed and the customer service is not pleasant.
