Bright, breezy daytime fare—strong coffee, a standout breakfast burrito, and the One-Handed sandwich—make Emmett’s a modern brunch staple. Celebrated by local critics and reader polls, it delivers dialed-in flavors without pretense.

We absolutely love Emmett's. The staff is always friendly, the atmosphere is clean and inviting and they have a lot of outdoor seating which is so great. Whether you're getting just a black coffee, a specialty drink, or a tea, you're going to enjoy what they are serving up. The breakfast menu is small, but oh so delicious. I think they have one of my all time favorite breakfast burritos, it's absolutely gigantic! Never had a bad experience here.

Google
Busy but what do you expect on a Sunday morning-coffee was great, I had the salted maple latte with an extra shot and whole milk, wife had a chai with oat milk and we shared the breakfast burrito. We talked about how good the burrito was all the way home. We’ll def be back next week. The avocado was a nice touch.

Google
We tried this location because it’s closer to us, but I won’t be coming back. The Neil St. location is miles better in every way. Here, the portions are noticeably smaller! my oatmeal was literally half the size compared to Neil St location, yet the price is the same. They only provide to-go cups and packaging even for dining in, which feels inconvenient and a bit cheap. Even the “one-handed sandwich” wasn’t the same as what we’ve had before. Hopefully, management takes feedback like this seriously, because right now this spot doesn’t hold up to their other location!

Google
Checked out Emmett’s Cafe for the first time and it was so good. I had The One Handed sandwich, which was super tasty and hit the spot. But the banana bread? Unreal. Like, seriously life changing. I’m still thinking about it. Definitely coming back for that alone.

Google
One of the best quality and niche cafes in Columbus! It's pretty casual with great outdoor seating in the back. The prices are decent and will get you through breakfast and lunch both. It does close rather early though and service can take a little bit of time. Highly recommend!

Harry Tsauce

Google
Wow solid breakfast burrito. If you come earlier you can get the happy hour prices but either way you will leave full if you finish the burrito. Also the egg muffin was great and had a lime citrus taste. Pair it with an ice coffee and you’re set! Worth visiting to start your day. Seating in patio and a couple of spots indoors.

Bruna Oliveira

Google
Didn’t use the patio because it was chilly for me but inside is super warm and cozy. Staff super friendly and food incredible! Got mocha, drip coffee, breakfast burrito and smoked salmon. Incredible!

Preeti Tupsakhare

Google
Cute little caffe with delicious food. Their patio is cute and they allow pet on their patio. We ordered avocado toast, overnight oats, banana bread and breakfast burritos and everything was super delicious we loved the place and the food!!

Yelp
I came here for lunch and loved how bright and welcoming the space is! I tried the cheeseburger and my friend had the breakfast burrito. Everything was super seasoned and my tater tots were nice and crispy. We also tried some matchas. Our food didn't take long at all to come out and our server was also friendly. Great experience, I'd like to come again to check out their back patio.

Yelp
Visiting Columbus... my home town and was downtown and searched on Yelp for a place for breakfast. This restaurant caught my eye. It is not directly downtown but close. It is a small place but inviting. I had breakfast burrito with scrambled eggs, bacon, cheese, tater tots with salsa on the side. The burrito was presented beautifully, well seasoned and filling. I also had a delicious Latte with oatmilk. The café was bright and had a nice window view. This is on my list to return to try other menu items.

Yelp
Updated review... still fantastic on all three pillars of taste, vibes, and staff! Get. The. Burrito.

Yelp
Great food on our visit! We went on a Sunday while checking out German Village. We didn't know there was also seating in the back, which was perfect with our 3 kids. The girls who served us were really sweet, and the food came quickly. You can tell this is a loved shop in the neighborhood. We felt like we were locals, and a part of the community just eating food here. I'd definitely recommend if you're looking for a chill spot, great drinks and food, and to bring your kids.

Yelp
I'm obsessed with this business. I love it so much I went twice while in Columbus for two days. The other location (ambiance) is significantly nicer. All the food is in to go containers and the other location uses real plates/mugs... But the customer service here was on point! The breakfast burrito is worth every penny and kudos to the barista when I asked which is better matcha or chai latte? She said, let me make you my favorite drink, it's a mix of both. It was delicious.

Yelp
So so yummy, everyone was so kind and helpful. I could not say enough nice things about this place, will absolutely be back!

Yelp
This has become one of my go-to spots! I teach Yoga around the corner two mornings a week and I'm probably here at least once if not twice a week. It's perfect to pop in and grab a quick coffee and energy ball (the cinnamon raisin are my favorite things to grab before or after a class to put some fuel in my body and are delicious )! I have also taken many other yogis, Friends and my husband here for brunch. Everything has always been amazing (breakfast burrito and tots are so good). One time I did order something and it wasn't to par with their normal food and simply explained to them and with no hesitations they comped and made me a new one! I also knew this was a one off because it's usually amazing and when it wasn't they made it right!

Yelp
Ehhh. This is a cute little cafe right outside of downtown area. The prices are relatively high in my opinion for the simplicity of the items that i ordered. I went with the one handed & a hot chai. Maybe the price would've been worth it for the other items (I've heard the bfast burrito is amazing). The cafe like I mentioned is small. Don't come here with a group larger than 4. It's a perfect setting for a party of 2. Other notes are that the bathroom was nice and clean. The cafe also felt so loud that i felt like i had to yell in order to have a conversation. Idk if this was just my experience or if others felt this way. Again just my experience.

Yelp
Always a great meal here! When we drive from the DC area to Chicago we stop here for lunch and it never is a wrong choice. It was cold this time through so we ordered ahead and got it to go. Amazing as usual!

Yelp
It's a really small spot next to Moses and next to Blackbird. 3 small two tops and 3 4 tops inside and a few outside patio spots. The staff taking the orders is warm and friendly. Ordered an overnight oats, smooth as butta oat milk latte, turmeric ginger tea, breakfast burrito with a side of tots ($5 add on) and a south high side salad with a fried egg ($2 add on) over hard. I wanted an avocado too, but it's $3 for probably a half of an avocado, more highway robbery. Seems insane to be paying $5 for tots and $2 for an egg. Inflation is high and prevalent here and rolling to the consumer. $61.29 for brunch. They are out of their chocolate chip cookies just after 11am. The smooth as butta oat milk latte is good, the tumeric ginger tea isn't too bad. The overnight oats with the chi and honey is pretty good. It's simple, but tasty. The south high side salad is so-so. The falafel is fresh, but extremely rock hard on the outside. The breakfast burrito was good, lots of eggs, tots, a bit of prosciutto, avocado and cheese. It was well stuffed and filling with the tots inside as well as on the sides. Cleaning discarded plates was quick. The service was good, although it's fast casual dining and minimal interaction.

Yelp
We stopped at Emmett's for breakfast while visiting Columbus. It's more of a small take out place like Starbucks. We had the lox sandwich and it was outstanding.
google avatar

Leah L.

Yelp
I don't think I've ever had a better breakfast burrito, furthermore I don't think I'll ever be able to eat a breakfast burrito from anywhere else! High quality fresh ingredients, quick service and friendly staff. The little outdoor patio area in the back is the perfect aesthetic. I have nothing negative to say about this establishment, go. Get a burrito and a coffee
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious breakfast burrito, banana bread, chai latte and coffee based latte! Nice staff. Not a large space but cozy while also being popular.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent experience at Emmett's! I've been wanting to try this place due to the wonderful reviews. It didn't disappoint! The breakfast burrito and homemade salsa was full of flavor and texture with fluffy eggs and crunchy tator tots. My friend ordered a sandwich and it looked incredible. She loved it. I want to return and try it as well. It had chorizo, a runny egg, pickled onions and arugula, I can't remember the name of it, sorry! Bright and airy space in German Village--found street parking in front of Local Cantina. Definitely a fan!
google avatar

Yelp
Walked in twenty minutes before closing and was barely able to order takeout. Another person came in 12 minutes before closing and they denied him. Frustrating. Also ridiculously priced for the quality.

Yelp
I used to be a Food Critic, which I don't say to be a snob, but to provide context for when I declare Emmett's Cafe as one of the Top 10 best breakfasts I have had, with the coffee being Top 10 as well. This would include breakfasts in Antarctica to Japan to Canada to the smallest of towns in Alabama (so good), but Emmett's provides the exact right blend of flavorful without being greasy -- all with the singularly unique taste, texture, and a just enough punch to differentiate it from all the other restaurants in Columbus. I went for three straight days and could not get enough of the coffee called "Smooth as Butta," and literally could have eaten two breakfasts: breakfast burrito and the "Meat and Tato." In fact I did order both, and the flavors of the Meat and Tato -- their most popular dish -- was a delightful mashup of sweet, slightly sour, and hot. It's like eating a Nashville Hot Chicken for the first time: you don't expect the hot and crunch and sweet but it all works stupendously well. I am happy for all those who live in Columbus who get a chance to try this amazing place. Savor it! It's simply incredible!

Yelp
Went to Emmett's for brunch on Sunday. They have a very nice and simple menu. I had the lavender lemonade which was so refreshing. I also had the lox sandwich on focaccia bread. It's was so delicious. Large enough to take a piece home. The space is pretty small in front but they also offer seating in the back.

Yelp
Ordered pickup for breakfast. Drinks were made after we arrived which was very nice. Bee sting latte didn't taste like much. One handed breakfast sandwich was very tasty. Meat and Tato came with burnt bun; tots were awesome but chorizo overpowered the whole sandwich. Service was friendly and the space was bright and airy.

Yelp
The best breakfast burrito I've ever had. I didn't get a coffee this time, but I will definitely be back.

Yelp
As we walked up to it to go inside people were sitting outside....Smiling and laughing as they were eating... always a good sign. We walked thru through door this quiet, yet upbeat joyful music was playing, I looked up and my first impression was "wow this is so clean, fresh and well managed, as the staff was all smiling, with a unified flow which seemed effortless and natural. (Thats rare). We ordered a regular drip coffee paired with over night oats and then a breakfast burrito paired with a bee sting coffee. The oats came with walnuts, blueberries, bananas, chia seeds and Ohio Maple syrup. My husband devoured it. The drip was a nice, solid medium roast with cream added. The breakfast burrito I had could of fed us both but It was so good I was sad that I was nice and offered a few bites to my husband. Lol. The eggs in it were fluffy, it had proscuitto thru out,l but not too much. The avacado was fresh and perfectly ripe. A nice surprise was the crispy tots. I wasnt sure if I would like that aspect of it but it didnt just "work", it made it special. The chipotle aioli was distributed well (not just plopped in one spot) so it added to the meal and didnt overwhelm any bite. Such a perfect dish. The bee sting latte.... That is special and worth coming in just for that. It has honey vanilla cayenne with a tad of lemon juice. It achieves this subtle sting that doesn't hurt at all but you can feel it in the back palette of the mouth with this hint of cayenne and lemon. Its truly amazing and I am now forever coming here to grab one when I am near German Village. The staff was friendly, put up with all my many questions, like "how do you make this, how big is this. Whats your favorite thing here, how long have you been open?" Which by the way this is a covid baby. When restaurants were closing in 2020... this owner took a chance and opened fall of 2020. A big shout out to that owner for that risk... it paid off, this place is perfect IMO. In every way!

Yelp
It was definitely busy on a weekend morning, but service was attentive and friendly despite probably being a little stressed out. The coffee was great - we have lots of good coffee in town, but this is a good example of that - and the food was freshly made and tasty. I'm rarely in this neighborhood, so I don't know if I would seek out this place over something more convenient, but it's definitely worth a stop if you're already in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
For the hype... this place was just okay. The latte was good but on the sweet side. The sandwich was okay, it was not fantastic, not bad either. The decor is cute inside, it is small. However, this place was cute and okay! Maybe we will try it again and try some other items another time.
google avatar

Angela D.

Yelp
This place is great! We needed another good brunch spot. I like the new location a lot. Tucked back near OSU campus. I'm a creature of habit so I tend to get the same thing - the classic breakfast with eggs, toast and coffee. We've had the sandwich and croissants. All of it is good. Not sure what they put on the potatoes but the seasoning is fantastic!!
google avatar

Jillian S.

Yelp
Breakfast burrito was great! Very large and filled with a bunch of great things. Iced latte was also good as well.
google avatar

Robin S.

Yelp
The service, the ambiance and the FOOD - really that's what the game is. Emmett's always exceeds my very high expectations. I'm a harsh critic, but when I am impressed I'll yell it. THIS PLACE IS GREAT! It feels and tastes like you're in a high end restaurant where people care about all the things. The menu is creative and delicious so get over there asap!

Yelp
I was in town for work for a week and kept trying to make it over there but the timing was never right. I finally made it over there but only 15 minutes before they closed for the day. It's a small, quant little cafe and the food looked good but unfortunately I did not get to try anything. When I walked in and started looking at the menu, the girl at the register states before even saying hello, "just so you know, we close in 10 minutes so you will either have to eat fast or eat your food someplace else". I understand workers want to go home when their workplace closes, but the comment was unnecessary to say the least. I would have liked to try the food but the customer service alone will keep me from returning. But as long as you give the staff plenty of time before they expect to go home, it looked like it would be a decent place to try.
google avatar

Yelp
You never know what you will get. Always hit & miss. Idk why we keep trying with this place! I paid $14 for this... a joke

Yelp
I kept seeing Emmett's everyone on my social media. I decided, I too must follow the trend. We came on a Sunday around noon. The location itself is much smaller than I had expected, I believe their location on Neil has more seating. My boyfriend and I were both set on the burrito. It's a tad bit pricey, but a big ole portion, so it evens out. Our food took about 15 minutes to come, which was quite a while for a fast causal coffee shop. The workers did apologize though. The burrito was good. It didn't have the wow factor though. The potatos or maybe the eggs? I'm not sure, something needed more seasoning. The salsa that came with it was such a tiny cup for a large burrito:( We ordered it to-go, or else I would've asked for more. Overall, this place is cute and also good for a morning date! I would go again, just not at the top of my list.
google avatar

Mark K.

Yelp
A bit hard to find, since there is no sign sticking out towards the street. Parking is, well, downtown / German Village tight. And the place itself is smaller than I expected. Six small tables. Very airy and bright though. And beautiful inside in a minimalist way. The menu is decent-size, with semi-healthy riffs on classic breakfast items. Friendly, efficient service. I got the lox, which is a twist on a bagel with lox, but actually on bread. Sweetie got the one-hander, which is a pretty typical breakfast sandwich. Both were very tasty. And both are pretty small, considering two breakfast sandwiches plus two coffees was $30. Even in these high-priced times, that's a bit much. So we won't be back often, but it is handy, and enjoyable, and when we are in the area we might stop by.

Yelp
I've been hearing about the hype of Emmett's cafe and finally got to try it. I went to the German Village location so there's plenty of street parking around. We came in around 12:30 on a Saturday and I got the TK sandwich, tots, and a cold brew with oat milk. My friend got the overnight oats and chai. Seating is first come first serve. When I ordered my cold brew, the employee had asked us if I wanted any cream or sugar. I asked her if they had almond milk and she said they only had oat milk. I told her I'd take that along with stevia or whatever sweetener they had. She makes my cold brew and there was no milk in it. I asked her if there was and she gave me a little bit of attitude going "you wanted milk?" We had a whole conversation about it and I just thought it was rude for her to give me attitude for asking for the milk when she forgot it in the first place. The cold brew was okay. I wish I would've gotten something else. My friend's chai was good! The same employee brought out out food in a takeout bag we were confused. We asked to eat for here and she said that after a specific time they don't give plates anymore to help with dishes before they close. It was 12:45 so I'm not sure if this is a normal time to not get dishes, especially since she made the chai tea in one of their cups. We wouldn't have minded but she didn't tell anyone ahead of time. The TK sandwich was okay. I liked the focaccia bread but I think there's too much greens / bread and not enough of the egg or protein to balance the acidity of the veggies along with the mustard. The taters were really good and crispy! The overnight oats were good, but not your normal textured oats, but in a good way! A few pieces of fruits to balance it out too! I think I would come back to try something else and hopefully not run into the same employee.

Yelp
Great High Street location easily accessible from historic German Village and Brewery District. They have indoor and outdoor seating with quite music playing in background. For a Sunday morning they were very busy yet efficient. Order from the counter and they bring you your order very quickly. The Overnight Oats with blueberries, banned, chia seeds, walnuts, and Ohio maple are exceptional. Will definitely be back to try the other food options. I also ordered a very good medium drip roast coffee. However, I recommend the Bee Sting Latte.
google avatar

Anna H.

Yelp
I was in the area and wanted to check Emmett's off my bookmark list. I parked on the street, and went in to order. Most of the tables were full (small space) so I ordered a sandwich and coffee to go. The turkey club croissant (minus the bacon) and Latte with oat milk were served pretty quickly and the staff was really nice. I asked for soy and was told they have oat milk, which is perfectly fine. I liked the latte better than the sandwich. I love croissants, but it seemed to have too much of everything on it. Just not the best. It was fresh, so a plus. This is a place I might frequent if I lived close, but I don't so I won't.

Yelp
The Emmything Sandwich is one of the best sandwiches that I've eaten in a long time! From the incredibly flavorful chicken down to the sauce, greens, and peppers...everything was perfect! Pair that with a side of tots, and you've got yourself a number one fan!! The seating area is slightly limited, but if you can snag yourself a seat inside, it's a cozy place to spend the morning/early afternoon. My one complaint about any business in this area is the parking lot which can be nearly impossible to get a spot in. Luckily there seems to be an okay amount of street parking to get in. If you haven't been to Emmett's yet, this has got to be your next brunch spot! Enjoy!

Yelp
I really like Emmett's Cafe, just wish it was a little more affordable. I went on a Saturday morning and was extremely happy to see how busy the restaurant was. The decor is very fresh and clean. Employees were super nice. Parking can be a bit of a pain. We ordered the lox sandwich which was super tasty. The pickled onion is a nice touch. We also got the south high salad and really enjoyed it. Anytime I see a tot on a menu, I order it. They did not disappoint. If you can sit on the back patio, weather depending, I recommend it.

Yelp
Emmet's Cafe 9/10 Loved visiting this cute cafe in German Village. I won't call it a hidden gem because nothing on High St. should be deemed "hidden". The staff was super nice and attentive. The prices are definitely on the higher side - but the quality shows for it. The wait time for our food was about 15 minutes. See below for what we got! Smooth as butta latte w/ oat milk - advice: add one packet of stevia and it will taste just like the milk from Cinnamon Toast Crunch. 10/10 Hibiscus Berry Iced Tea - added 2 packets of stevia. Without it gave a refreshing flavored water. But with it gave the desired sweet hibiscus. 7/10, wouldn't get again Turkey club croissant - how you would expect a croissant, Turkey, bacon, cheese, mayo sandwich to be. No surprises, satisfying, and fruit as a side was perfect. A biased 10/10 as I am a fiend for croissant sandwiches. The emmything - Flavor galore. The chicken is seasoned well. Sautéed peppers are a nice touch. The aioli is a tad bit spicy. The sandwich itself is a messy one. Comes with a side of tater tots which are especially delicious dipped in the aioli. Definitely the top recommendation for a first time visit. 10/10. My bf and I ate half of our sandwiches each so we had another half for the next day lunch, which definitely made up for the price! I would say the only blatant con was no wifi, which is uncommon for cafes. Follow me on IG for more reviews! @ocean.sviews

Yelp
Love Emmett's! The German Village location is a small space located just off High Street. We usually order to go here several times a week & it's always very consistent. The service is great and the staff is friendly. Their iced matcha is my favorite - best I've tried in Columbus.
google avatar

Danielle M.

Yelp
Emmett's Café is a perfect place to go for coffee or lunch or getting food to go. The inside is very tiny. They only have about 6 to 7 tables but they have a large outdoor patio Perfect for larger groups. Staff was friendly and helpful and quick with service. I love their matcha latte.
google avatar

Valerie C.

Yelp
Especially enjoyed the Emmything sandwich. Portion sizes are small so you won't be having leftovers, which is fine. Perfect for lunch, actually. My daughter enjoyed her cheese quesadilla and fruit. My husband and I split the sandwiches and both of us thought the Emmything was the best. TK is also a decent sandwich, but it didn't have the same flavor pop. We had a lovely dine in experience. Small menu, but something for everyone.

Yelp
I'm in love! I had the One-Handed and an espresso over tonic. it wasn't a breakfast. it was a sensory experience. so good.

Yelp
We had food catered from Emmett's to our office today for lunch and the food was great!!!

Yelp
Emmett's catered our 50 person office meeting and lunch today. Food was fantastic and still very warm when delivered. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Great food and the ambiance is awesome! Perfect for a crisp fall day on the patio! Fabulous restoration of the former Neil Ave. School!
google avatar

Leon D.

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop with great coffee and food offerings. This place is very tiny and currently can only seat people outside since the very limited space inside. There is a lot more outside seating in the back patio which is not very clear if you're a first timer in the shop. The coffee is great and the staff is very friendly. They do not have Wi-Fi even though there's like 4 networks from them but maybe they don't want people sticking around all day. I recommend if you want a quick bite and quality coffee!
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
Wow this is the best meal I've had in AGES. I am still currently eating it and had to take a break to jump on Yelp to tell someone how good it is. I ordered the chorizo bowl and was blown away by how well all of the flavors go together. It's the perfect size for a filling lunch and tastes healthy yet also decadent. Ordering online and picking the food up was a breeze. My order was ready prior to the pickup time, and it was in a bag waiting by the entrance. Staff had masks and there was hand sanitizer right at the door. All around amazing!

Yelp
Is that Latin-African (drumming) mixed music? Whatever it is, boy oh boy do I like the vibes it gave me. Emmett's is adorable - I like the minimalist look, and this new neighborhood restaurant fits to the T. To me, I love restaurants that don't spend a large amount of their time and money on the decor and frills. White walls and natural wood, minimal menus lining the walls; theirs is a simple letter board with their Australian-influenced coffee/espresso offerings. I prefer to occupy my thoughts of food, so Emmett's ambiance is smack on. First of all, I salute and adore "all-day eateries", serving all three breakfast, lunch and dinner. I feel like Columbus is sorely lacking in this category, so Emmett's is such a breathe of fresh air. Their breakfast offerings end at 4pm daily, so I went with the Harvest Bowl. Oh my good lawd, this quinoa bowl was full of components, and damn-fine full of flavor (to the max!). The miso-maple-mustard dressing was interesting; a sweet-and-sour kinda thing, and went perfectly with the savory fall veggies and quinoa. I also had a bite of the Schiller Bowl, and WOW! Excellent savory flavors - that hollandaise sauce is the perfect icing on the cake. I'm super impressed with pretty much ALL the menu offerings. Everything is so "clean" and fresh. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT sleep on Emmett's! Service was prompt and polite. Love the kitchen area setup, and how it's open to viewing if your waiting on your order. I will be back STAT to try a breakfast bowl - all the yogurt-and-fruit combos are calling my name. And, to be honest, a grain bowl will probably accompany that order, cause, ya know, two birds, one stone (trip to GV)!!

Yelp
So good! Love their breakfast burrito and tater tots. Always pretty busy but I've always been able to find a spot to sit. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Door steps from German Village, this is a very solid option for an early morning bite. They have a banger of a patio outback that is dog friendly and all you can ask for from a breakfast and coffee place!
google avatar

Yelp
You HAVE to go check out Emmett's cafe! It just opened on high street down near German Village and it's the cutest, most delicious neighborhood cafe! It's an Aussie style cafe which means they serve their menu all day long instead of closing at like 3 or 4. Their patio out back is adorable, with string lights and many heaters for colder days. The staff is all so accommodating and they were on top of everything we needed. I ordered the Schiller bowl, which was sweet potatoes and veggies and this amazing hollandaise sauce with poached eggs! My hubby ordered the meat + tato handheld and omg his was SO GOOD. I liked the Schiller bowl and felt healthy eating it but dang the chorizo and tater tot crunch in his The menu here is extensive and they have so many options - we wanted to try it all! We'll definitely be back. Welcome to the neighborhood, Emmett's!!

Yelp
Small cafe with charming vibes. Simple menu, but they've perfected everything on it. The tots were amazing! Loved their breakfast sandwich with prosciutto too. Everyone here was extra friendly too. Did not disappoint whatsoever!
