We came to meet friends for an early dinner here. The relatively new restaurant has only been open for about six months. It's part of a small chain -- Nashville, Atlanta, New York, et al -- that features Detroit pizzas and burgers.
They have some outdoor seating, but we chose to sit inside. At the early hour we came, we had our choice of seats. Our server, Rico, was very good and patient with all our questions.
My husband and I started off by sharing a Caesar salad. It was very good. A tasty dressing and yes, anchovies (which we like). After that, we shared the Angel pizza. This square shaped Detroit style pizza was nicely crisped on all the edges. The regular (small) sized one comes cut into six pieces. After the salad, we actually took one piece home (great breakfast the next day!). The Angel is a white pizza with ricotta topped with fresh mushrooms and a mushroom "cream". And I liked the pizza, as well. Realizing that I'm a New Haven apizza gal, that says a lot since thin and crispy are my usual favorites.
Our friends each ordered their own pizzas -- each with different toppings. I couldn't believe he ordered pickles!! I'm not that adventurous.
We didn't do the dessert brownie -- although it sounded interesting. Right now, that's the only dessert they offer.
Just a note on the decor. If you look around, the walls have little dinosaur statues on them. And there are some other dinosaur pictures and chinaware. Your kids would have fun finding them all. I asked Rico about it, and he said they were just for decoration, but that the owner just really likes dinosaurs! Too cute...
And yes, we'd like to return. Their burgers are served on pretzel buns and the reviews sound intriguing. Plus, that brownie might call my name sometime...
