Emmy Squared Pizza: Navy Yard

My friends and I decided to come here for a late evening dinner. We came from Maryland and took the metro which put us in a convenient walking distance. The restaurant has a very welcoming atmosphere has a lot of open space. We were seated quickly by the hostess on arrival and she helped us with any questions. Their menu has a lot of good options between pizza, appetizers, sandwiches, and even the cocktails looked so creative. We were desperate to try some good Detroit style pizza and they absolutely delivered!!! We also ordered the Bulgogi fries and their cheesey bread sticks. Everything was absolutely delicious. Our waitress ( I forgot her name unfortunately :( ) was accommodating. It seemed like there were maybe only 2 waitresses that night but she was absolutely great and helpful with our questions. It’s on the pricier side (it’s D.C what can anyone expect lol) but I think with the quality of food that we got, it was really worth it. I really, really enjoyed their pizza and so did my friends and I think we’ll surely come back. This place is a must go-to.

I entered the restaurant and O was greeted and seated immediately. The hostess directed me to the perfect table. I had the house salad with fried chicken and the house dressing. OUTSTANDING. I also had the Meatsiah pizza, 10 out of 10. Waitress was very attentive, but not overly so. Staff was nice also. Everything was good today.

Great place for lunch. They provided room for a large party that decided that day to head out of the office early. The drinks and food were very good, service is excellent. We especially loved the chicken wings. Will come again.

I went there for my Birthday during a non busy time for was me and a hand full of people in the place. Seems like it would be busier in later hours. I ordered the seasonal food items the Meatiash and the watermelon burrata salad. They were both good for the most part the items had different spin on them then normal being a meat lovers pizza and watermelon salad. I wouldn't order either one again but they were good for what they were. If I had a group of people I would probably go back there but by put by myself I would just order a pizza and carry out. Compared to Red light Pizza that I had a while back this is something this is the place you can go to with friends more so than eat a whole of Detroit Pizza by yourself

Had an impromptu dinner out with the family and stopped at Emmy’s. It was our first time here but had drive past many times. We were greeted immediately after entering. We sat down and were told about the special by a very kind hostess/waitress/bartender named Paris. She gave us great recommendations and even talked my husband out of purchasing an item he certainly wouldn’t have liked. The food was quick and delicious. We will definitely be returning. Thank you Paris for a great experience!

If this is Detroit-style pizza, then I really need to visit Detroit. Emmy Squared Pizza is thick and tasty. The slices are huge and I loved it.

The high rating holds true. My friend and I stopped in for a late bite. I was past hungry, and I didn't want to have to think about what to order, so I asked the server what they liked. They suggested the colony pizza. Placed the order for regular (6 slices) and for the roasted cauliflower. Food came out timely and tasty. It has me excited to come back and try the rest of the menu.

Tasty thick crust Detroit-style pizza here! Recommend the Zia fries and founders pizza!

Great service for a group for lunch on a Saturday. Nice calm atmosphere where it was easy to chat. Service was good. It did take some time to get drinks but it seems they were making them with great care, which was reflected in the quality. The pear seasonal cocktail was awesome! I forgot to take pictures of the pizzas but they were all good too. Angel pie is my favorite. They have gluten free crusts as well. One regular is easily enough for two people so split one or take some home. No funky service charges too! We will be back.

I'm just starting to explore the DC pizza game. Emmy's does a Detroit inspired square pizza that is quite good. Detroit has that thick crispy edge that makes corner pieces treasured. If you use Buddy's as the standard for Detroit style the main difference is the corridor crusty edge. Emmy needs to develop that a little more and they are there. Probably needs a little more EVOO just before the oven. Fresh ingredients and good prices make this an easy recommendation.

Typically love Emmy Squared pizza, but our pizza arrived with green fuzzy patches on the bottom. We were told it was definitely not mold, but then given various reasons as to why there was a mold-looking patches on our pizza - the knife, the oil, the pan. It was very unappetizing. Our server was very sweet, but the manager flippant, which was insulting, and not apologetic. I get it, restaurants are understaffed, overworked, and underpaid. This isn't a reflection of poor service, just a warning...check your pizza bottoms.

I have to say that their pizza is flavorful, but it is a lot oily compared to pizzas from other places. I had a good time with a friend of mine in this restaurant, but other than the oily part in the pizza, everything is juicy and flavorful. The pepperoni slices are thin, but the cheese and the sauce is quite thick and plentiful. The waffle fries are tasty as well, and the only downside to this is that water refills in this restaurant is non-existent and you might have to request for it. Overall, 7/10 for the food, service is mediocre.

"A True Piz-Za-Mine !" Point blank period... when it comes to Pizza heaven it's no question that Emmy Squared Pizza is second to none. This place is classy, cozy and the service is awesome ( true teamwork) The menu comes with a variety of delicious options, including being able to create your own version of a pizza !! The next time you're in the mood for a nice pie, I encourage you to head to Emmy's... definitely not your typical pizza place!

First time at this location, but Ive tried their other locations. I love their pizza it's buttery with crispy edges with a pillowy inside. Ive tried the cheese pizza but you need a salty and acidic element. Also tried the zeppoles. They were very chewy think of eating crusty bread. If you like less sweet desserts you may like this dessert. It tastes like fried pizza dough. It is lightly sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. You need the caramel and cream cheese dip. Both were tasty. Service was quick and it was jumping for a Friday night. Looks like a nice chill spot to eat.

Pizza was very delicious and service was great! The food is on the pricier side, but it is great for larger parties to share and try multiple items.

The pizza ?? Amazing I see why everyone loves it. The price ? Not so amazing definitely over priced but I'm assuming that's due to the location of the shop. The pizza was great we got a simple pepperoni and it was delicious. I would come if I want to splurge or am just in the area. They do have a happy hour as well as frozen drinks that are pretty good. The resturant is spacious as well good for large or small Groups. Our service was good it took awhile to get our pizza but that's just because it's all Made to order. The resturant was also clean !

Ordered from this location for the first time in a while and was pretty disappointed. I usually order the VIP from the shaw location and it's always perfect. Unfortunately my order here was doused in extra Parmesan cheese which I know is a plus for many, but makes it way too heavy for me. My stomach was churning after one slice! Please list it on the menu as an ingredient and provide an option to remove it. It truly changes the experience for us lactose lite peeps. One of my pet peeves at any pizza joint. If you wouldn't top with red pepper flake without mentioning it why do it with parm? Maybe with parm is the standard though and the shaw location just forgets to put it on? Idk. They also went extra heavy on the Calabrian chilis which threw off the flavor. Pie was still hot upon delivery!

Idk why it took me so long to try this place. Holy crap! This pizza is GOOD!!!!! Crispy, cheesy, flavorful!! All the things!! It was great!! There were like two people in there when we went, so it was hard to get a feel of the vibe of the place but who cares- the pizza was amazing. Leftovers were a bit greasy but when you eat it fresh it doesn't taste that way at all.

I gotta keep it real. I usually don't make a bad review and it's not about the service because I did not dine in it was actually pizza. A lot of people have been guiding me to this place to try this pizza and said it's very unique and very good. Maybe I had a bad Location maybe it was just a bad day but to me personally the pizza taste like it was frozen and me personally for the price this is unacceptable even though I ordered to go I had to wait a minute or two for the food to come out and I ate a piece as soon as I got in the car just so my judgment cannot be questioned. It was but the dough tasted like it was frozen, this is unacceptable especially for the prices. I may try this place again, but not on my dollar.

Came here for dinner on a quiet Sunday. The interior is spacious and we got seated at a booth. The service was fine, the food took a little long to come out. We ordered 3 items: zia fries, le big matt burger, and the good paulie pizza. Our fries came out first, and that came out quick. They were good and loaded with toppings. We ended up eating most of it because the burger and pizza took longer to arrive. Emmy squared boasts about their burger and it was pretty good, there was also good, but a little on the oily side. I appreciated how they serve the pizza, on a rack, keeping the crust nice and crisp. We ended up with more than we could finish. I probably would order one less item next time, and not come here when I'm starving.

We came here after moving our daughter into her college dorm. We needed a reload on carbs for the next couple of days of moving. My daughter knows of the other location in Shaw and she says it's pretty good pizza. We parked in a lot a half block away. It was a great parking location. Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted by a host who seated us. We got a nice spot on the left of the restaurant entry, with a wall of full windows, perfect. Our server was Hamzeh or Hafmez, he was AMAZING. We will definitely be back. Delicious pizza.

Stopped in on Valentine's Day with my boyfriend, and Paris took such great care of us. She was absolutely amazing--so sweet and truly a beautiful soul.

This would be a 5+ experience if we could rate more. We recently came here with a very large group for mother's day. The staff was so incredibly accommodating as we rolled in with a large group without a reservation. Our server was so good at rolling with the punches. I've ordered from here before and enjoyed the food. But this was my first time dining in. I loved the open air ambiance -- it's a perfect spot to enjoy an indoor/outdoor experience during that short window of pleasant DC weather. My large extended family ordered several types of dishes but I have to say, what my partner and I ordered was the best. We started off with the roasted Brussel sprout salad. This was a hit and several of our family members asked to taste it, and continued to help finish it off with 2nd servings. But the biggest hit of the night was the margarita pizza. By far, this was my favorite. The regular cheese pizza was also tasty. The one pizza I did not love was the Hawaiian Pizza. I generally love a Hawaiian pizza but this one tasted overly sweet. It just wasn't to my taste. Overall though this was a 5 star+ experience. We will definitely be back.

Emmy has been on my list for quite awhile and I'm glad that I had the opportunity to visit. The food was really good; wings, pizza, and burger. I think that was the biggest surprise. The food was a bit pricey and some of the dishes were a-la-cart, so being mindful when planning. The bartenders were nice and made good drinks, which is important in neighborhood spots like this.

We were so tired from running around site seeing so we decided to stay in at the hotel and order pizza. Finding a place that had decent reviews, delivered or had a delivery service option that were good was more challenging than I thought. We decided Emmy Squared at the Navy Yard looked like our best option. This is our only pizza in the DC area and it was great! We ordered a Caesar salad, bread sticks and a make it your own Detroit style 8x10 pizza. Everything was packaged well and the hot stuff was still pretty warm despite the Uber Eats issue (don't know what it was, but we ended up with a different driver after Uber said the order was on the way). The salad was fresh and had an excellent dressing on it. It was just what my wife wanted instead of pizza 'this late'. Until she tried the bread sticks and then nothing was so heavy or too late. The bread sticks were cooked to perfection and had a great seasoning on them. The pizza was excellent and exactly what I hoped for. Cooked right, not doughy and had the crispy edges you hope a Detroit style pizza has. We really enjoyed our meal from Emmy Squared and have vowed to return when we visit Washington, D.C. in the future.

OMG BEST GLUTEN FREE PIZZA EVER!!! You can't even tell it's gluten free, thick fluffy crust and the regular is plenty for 2 people. The topping options are great but I got the good Pauline with bacon instead of sausage. Even the bacon was thick and crisp but still juicy. The caramelized onions had a nice sweetness that cut the richness of the Gouda. Seriously amazing, go.

Stopped by on a Saturday night and the restaurant was mostly empty except for the front where there were several people waiting to be greeted and sat by the host. The host was no where to be found. I believe we had to wait almost 5 mins until someone asked if we've been helped. Once we were sat, the service got a lot better. Can't remember her name but our server was really cool. I got a skinny marg and it was crazy strong. I was having trouble finishing it. We made our own pizza with our choice of toppings (bacon, mushrooms and onions). I actually loved the Detroit style pizza--especially the corner slices. I just wish the service and drinks were a bit better.

Just finished fishing on water. Stopped in to see Kat, great customer service and attention to our needs. The Food was vodka reg w caramelized onion, abd my zua fries no bacon. Drinks: frozen blue rum, lime water, fresh made tea. Food always hits a good spot

I went here with some friends for a girls catchup dinner and it was good! It is a very chill and laidback spot in Navy Yard. I ordered Colony pizza with Ricotta cheese and it was really good! (Note: if you see a speciality pizza that is almost perfect but has an ingredient you don't like, you can just tell the waiter). The Colony pizza was delicious and leaned a bit sweet with the honey so I enjoyed the addition of ricotta cheese (personal choice). The only reason that I can't give it 5 stars is because the pizza was a bit too saucy which made the deliciously golden dough a bit soggy. I think it will do good once crisped in oven a little longer.

This is my 3rd time having this restaurant and this time I decided to dine in vs takeout. And instead of ordering from the menu we did a create your own pizza and it came out pretty well. Also surprisingly enough the salad was good too. Sitting outside on a Friday night in the wharf at this place is a the perfect way to people watch and get fresh air. Def would recommend! The staff is nice as well and attentive. The only bad part about this visit is that I forgot my leftovers at the table

Stumbled upon this cute pizza joint while taking a stroll through the Navy Yards in DC. The bar area is beautiful. The restaurant is a definite vibe with the decor and background music. Hafez sat us in a booth and took care of us right away. The Bourbon Watermelon Splash cocktail is delicious! We got the Brussels Sprouts salad and "Angel" pizza. Both were very tasty. No complaints here!

Very solid Detroit style pizza. Margarita pizza was solid, enjoyed the sauce. Also tried another pizza with jalapeños, hot honey and pepperoni. Also very tasty. And lastly another with burrata, banana peppers and sausage. Which was also great. Service was mediocre but the pizzas were on point. Would recommend

My husband and I dropped in and tried Emmy Squared at Navy Yard before a DC united game. Safe to say we were satisfied! We were seated almost immediately, and the restaurant was a cute casual moment. The wait staff were pleasant and quick with everything! Here's what we tried, The Chicken Parm Sandwich & Spicy Chicken Sandwich.... Both absolutely delicious! The flavors were there, the cook was there, and the bun complimented well! Our only qualm, and this is a personal preference... the double chicken breast was just too much. The sandwich would be perfect with one chicken breast IMO. The double is just so messy and kills the integrity of the sandwich. Nonetheless still delicious! The Caesar Salad was also delicious, a huge portion so perfect to share! The dressing (house made) was what elevated the salad. Great take on a simple Caesar. The Seasoned Waffle Fries were also big enough to share! Fries were fried to golden crispy perfection & seasoned well! Overall great experience & great food! Would definitely try some other menu items!

Tiffany is a fantastic Bar tender. I love this place, the entire stand is almost like family. If you are in the area, swing by, have a Juicy Magic and enjoy the people watching!

First time visiting and it was a great dining experience. Meatsiah pizza was excellent and the hot chicken in the Caesar salad was sublime. Aaronette provided excellent service to us. We'll be dining here again for sure!

I have a gluten allergy and had trouble finding a place that served tasty pizza. Emmy squared is my go to for pizza because they have so many delicious gluten friendly options! The customer service is great and the quality is consistent! When I have time, I enjoy dining in as well. They have a cute garage like door that allows you to feel like you're eating outside, inside! Their drinks are also great :).

The veggie pizza I got here was super tasty. Loaded with mushrooms, peppers, onions, and olives. Crust was crispy on the edges and soft in the middle. I liked how the cheese wasn't overwhelming and let the veggie flavors shine through. They got my order out pretty quick even though it was busy. The seating area is simple but comfortable. I'll be back to try other kinds for sure.

Absolutely love this place!!! Great staff, quick service, great pizza! Jay the bartender hooked us up with his own version of a whiskey sour and it was amazing! Shout out to the nice manager Jamila she was so sweet! Relaxing music and great drinks will keep us coming back always!

I came in with colleagues for lunch. The host was not the friendliest, but the server, Aaronette was amazing. I had the wings, which were okay. They would have been better if they were crispier. My colleagues had pizzas and they all raved about the pizza. Aaronette's knowledge of the menu and her friendly customer service made up for the short comings of the host and the wings.

9.29.23-On a Friday night, we worked up an appetite walking the city & exploring a nearby museum. Emmy squared was bookmarked for awhile and with a big cycling event the next day we needed the carbs. It was moderately crowded & the bar was empty. However, really loud in the dining area. We were promptly seated but it took more than 15 min to be acknowledged & offered water... The host/server finally came over, answered questions, & took our orders. My friend ordered the grilled chicken parm meal and a ginger beer. I ordered a build your own pizza with pesto & vegetables. 20 min later a huge fried breaded chicken parm sandwich was delivered. I insisted that he eat although I didn't have my food. The bread was fresh but chicken & sauce lacked seasoning & flavor. 5-10 min later the host/server said the kitchen lost my pizza order. Once I finally received my pizza, the toppings were fresh but the pesto was MIA. We expressed our disappointment and the server removed the sandwich from the bill. She also dropped off a to go box & pesto sauce, but no apology. We didn't enjoy this disjointed experience at all & there was no attention to detail. With so many nearby good options, not sure if I'll ever return.

The pizza at Emmy Squared is really great! The crust is both fluffy and crispy. The combination of toppings and flavors is elite. I loved the Big Ang pizza with meatballs and ricotta. The garlic cheesy breadsticks were truly amazing. Our one issue was that they accidentally gave our Ang pizza as someone's to-go order, so the rest of our table got their food, but they had to completely re-make our pizza. So we had to wait another 20 mins while the rest of our table ate so their food wouldn't go cold. It was a little awkward, but the restaurant made it up to us, since they took the charge for the Ang pizza off the bill. And they were very apologetic about the mix up. The pizza is delicious, and the staff is kind. We would definitely come back here! And I recommend you check this place out.

I came back here for the second time to dine in with some friends. We got the brussel sprout salad and a few pizzas and everything was good. We were right by a big opening at the restaurant, so we enjoyed the outdoor breeze while sitting in the shade. The food was excellent once again, and the service was good too.

Stopped by for dinner with a few friends. Everyone ordered their own pizza. We probably could've shared 2 pizzas for the 4 of us. Overall, the pizzas were decent. Lacking a little in flavor. I ordered the Colony, and probably would've liked it more if they didn't forget the sauce... lol... Service was a little slow considering they weren't busy. I'll probably continue my search for the best Detroit-style pizza in the DMV.

The pizza was perfect. Light crust, garlic pesto sauce, olives, and ricotta I would've given 5 stars but the table and menu were sticky.

Pizza wasn't bad. However, being from Detroit the dough texture on the pizza was off in my opinion.

The pizza had a great combination of flavors, with a crispy crust and a rich tomato sauce. The cheese was melted beautifully, and every bite was satisfying. The service was quick, and the staff was friendly.

To improve: Consistency of quality (freshness of food) and consistency of service (food preparation time).

The service was great and the restaurant ambience was actually pretty nice. I got a burger there in a made it keto style with lettuce wrap, but I thought the 17 some odd dollar price was a little bit too much. If you want a burger, I would suggest other options for that around the Navy yard area. It just seemed a little bit too much for the small size that it was. But I guess with the name that is specifically focused on pizza I should've gone that route but I'm going keto so I guess not.

It wasn't busy when we came- double bonus for us! We were greeted and seated right away. The kids got chicken and fries- so good (good leftover too) and we got cheesy bread- so good and a little greasy from pesto and we ordered colony pizza. Who would have thought we would love the honey on the pizza!

Looking for a great, relaxing, clean environment in the navy yard then this is your place! Everything was great and our server Aaronette provided great suggestions and service! Suggestion; add the hot and honey sauce on the side. Will definitely return when in the area!
