"This longtime Highland Park favorite has near-legendary status among its devotees. Empire Baking Company’s loaves of bread, pies, and cakes are all top-notch. The milk chocolate sea salt cookie is worth a try, and Empire’s cheese straws are a Dallas classic." - Rachel Pinn

"Specializing in baked goods to take away and baking bread for what seems like half the restaurants in town, Empire offers a trio of classic pies for the holidays. Pumpkin, Texas pecan and apple-cranberry are all on offer, priced from $27 to $29. Online pie ordering is available at empirebaking.com." - Rachel Pinn
07/08/23: I went to Empire Baking this afternoon to pick up an order. Can’t believe I’ve never been here before. Everything looked delicious!!!! I wanted a sample of all the goodies. Can’t wait to go again.
*****Be aware that google maps will take you to the back of the bakery aka the delivery truck entrance. That’s what happened to me today. The main entrance is off of University. There are around 6-8 parking spots in front. The parking lot is pretty small, so is the bakery itself. Not a shot at the bakery, just sharing..*****

Away from the Inwood Village hub-bub, but it still has the basics & then some. Picked up some walnut bread & baked goodies, including lemon shortbread cookies, muffin & cinnamon roll. There's also prepped foods in the refrigerated area.
Parking is very limited.

I knew a head of time that this was a small storefront located at the bakery, so I wasn’t anticipating all the menu items located in Inwood Village.
There’s a chocolate chip cook with sea salt that is delicious. I have to hold myself back from eating them all in a sitting. The muffins are okay.
But the real star is the bread. My all-time favorite is the jalapeño cheddar. It’s amazing! I’ve had a handle of different types, and I’ve never been disappointed.

Lovely bakery and warm hospitality! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted and the smell of all the baked goods was heavenly. The kind gentleman at the counter introduced us to how they craft their baked goods and went over several items since we were first time visitors. I love how they only use good ingredients and no preservatives/unnecessary additives. I purchased a carrot pecan muffin, banana bread, and shortbread cookies. They were all tasty! I’ll be back to try the varieties of breads.

God Allah The Universe bless businesses like this that offer quality bread in the middle of Texas. The only suggestion I have is that sandwiches could be a little more affordable

I love the seasonal cookies, especially the sesame and orange pistachio. I’m not really a cookie guy but these are so good. Wish they had them all the time :)

This location’s actual storefront is quite small, and I believe serves as the main baking unit that provides breads for both stores. There are fewer selections at this location than at the original store on Lovers Ln, and at the time I went in April they were unable to process my gift card.

I highly recommend Empire! I love everything especially the Niçoise salad❤️
The staff is super attentive and friendly.
Empire has the freshest sourdough and hippie bread.

Yelp
Easy in and out during the week, very nice storefront. Limited parking but great selection of breads pastries and grab & go lunches. Bought a loaf of their walnut scallion bread for my sister (she loves it) and just had to try a scone cause that's my thing...OMG flavor explosion, the best scone I've ever put in my mouth, I'm guessing there's a bit of butter in the mix, sooo yummy!

Yelp
I went because I wanted a tasty pastry. It was my first visit, and I was excited just thinking about my options. Well I was sad when I saw there wasn't much to choose from.
I ended up with the lemon ricotta cookie meh at best. The texture was great, but the taste was just okay. I got 2 chocolate croissants. My daughter said the pastry just wasn't right. My husband only ate 1/2 of his, and he loves chocolate croissants. I also got the cinnamon roll. I feel the cinnamon roll has lots of potential. I did like the fact that it wasn't covered in icing. They sell lunch items. I feel like the sweets are not the focus. Sorry I didn't take any pictures.

Yelp
Their breads are the star items here! This is not a full sized location but they always have something I love. They have pre-made sandwiches and take holiday orders as well. Their sourdough is our favorite (head and shoulders above Village Baking Co) and what we come back for week after week. I love this little spot-so much more convenient than driving over to their other location. Definitely a more robust selection at the Inwood Village location, but who wants to park in Inwood Village? Love this spot.

Yelp
We drove out of our way to go. The selection is small. We wanted a cinnamon roll and another pastry but the gnats were too numerous to count. We lost our appetite and didn't buy anything.
