There’s no place like Empire 🦋
In the Summer, we’ll pick up strawberries from a nearby fruit shop and snack under the awning, watching people go by while sipping iced coffees
In the Fall, we wrap up and sit outside with warm tea. Next door, June Records plays some damn good music which drifts over along with the falling leaves. I melt for the pumpkin pie tarts.
On miserable Winter mornings, Empire is open early with hot coffee and good wifi. I strip off my winter coats and sit by the window, watching the morning grind trudge by.
When Spring comes around, we’re back to the front awning. My pup Max always knows he can get a fresh bowl of water on a hot day. I’ve taken a book out from their well curated little library.
Behind the counter, Nicholas serves up a fancy cortado or a simple cup of tea. I’m not sure the other barista’s names but they’re all lovely people.
best memory: When the solar eclipse happened we came to Empire and hung out while June Records played ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ and ‘Dark Side of the Moon’.
We shared a pair of eclipse glasses with passersby and sipped coffee while the world went dim.
