Craving a real deli sandwich now for a few days, I tried to find a good spot to get one in the Southwest. Not to be whiny, but we don't have much deli selection around here, but I checked the Google, and up popped Empire Deli, at Heritage and Elbow. Used to a German store a long time ago, but apparently I was missing something amazing that came as it's replacement.
Empire has a wonderful selection of what we used to call cold cuts. They have beautiful selections of fresh meat, gorgeous cheeses and pastries. I also saw frozen broth of various kinds and frozen meat, sausages, and ready to pop in the oven dishes.
This is all locally sourced meat and ingredients, home made condiments, etc. this is becoming increasingly important to me, and lots of my friends.
I ordered a couple amazing Mufflettas to bring home. Truly spectacular!
Empire has ample seating, and serves breakfast, brunch and lunch.
I know it's a couple years since they set up in that funky old plaza, but I hope they keep doing what they are doing for a long time.
