Emporio Sushi & Mariscos

Today was the day of restaurant hopping. It is my partners bday so we are going to places they’ve been wanting to try. This place has a nice atmosphere, it’s an actual building unlike Mariscos Nayarit. We ordered the Molcajete de Mariscos (Seafood ) $34.95 and the Coctel de camaron (shrimp cocktail)$19.95. Definitely 👍, flavorful and definitely something I would come for again if I’m out this way. Both dishes were well made and worth the cost.

Saw this on Instagram and decided to come out and try it out... everything was just delicious. I had a fillet zarandeado, my son had Sushi, and my wife had ceviche emporio which she says was superb, almost like in tijuana. Definitely going to return.

Sometimes this place is a hit or miss when it comes to the waitress. First time, it seemed like we only saw our waitress twice. We felt that tipped wasn’t deserved but we left $10. The other times felt better. Last time I was there, was a week ago and the experience was a 10! She came back to make sure we were all good and even made jokes. Food is always great! Can get pricey and gratitude is included now.

This place exceeded my expectations in every aspect. I ordered the green ceviche, it was fresh and delicious. I also ordered the shrimp enchiladas. I strongly recommend them, they are mind blowing. The mineral limeade was also delicious. The place was clean and the service was great. Our server was friendly and efficient. If I wasn’t visiting I’d be a regular.

I want start this review with saying that I have eaten at this restaurant a few times and I'm always very impressed with the food and service and would have given 5 stars. However, I went a few days ago (father's day) and ordered two compechanas for my Dad and myself. Together we found 7 uncooked shrimp that hadn't been deveined yet. Whoever is in charge of quality control over there needs to do better.

The food is good. Nothing crazy or exceptional. Very tj style sushi. The older blonde waitress with glasses tho. Trying to get her attention for a half hr to get the check and she's trying so hard to look everywhere but at you. I know they don't like it but eventually I just asked the other waitress for our check. Rest assured she was beyond annoyed that we asked her. Second time coming here. The younger waitresses aren't much better.

My Mom & I recently went here to try their seafood options & we enjoyed everything we tried. Loved the Botana Especial & the fish tacos. My Mom had the Oyster shots and the Ceviche de Camaron. She loved everything! The only thing that definitely could improve is the taste of the frijoles & the rice. I felt like it needed more love and sason. But all the mariscos were bomb af! We can't wait to try more of their entrées next time! Shout out to Mayra! She was so lovely! We talked to her like we had known each other for the longest time! Talking to her felt like talking to family. She has a good heart and a beautiful smile. We can't wait to go back and see her again. She's amazing! Outstanding customer service! Brought my husband in for his birthday The food was good, BUT service sucks I do not recommend this place if the service is NOT good I will never come back. Here is some of my order.

Wandered into this unique spot which serves a fusion of Mexican, Japanese cuisine. The cerviche tostada was spicy hot and the various sushi rolls we tried were good. Restaurant was cozy and had plenty of parking available. Service was pleasant. The horchata was excellent, a coconut surprise!

Came across one of their aguachile instagram posts and knew I had to try them. We tried their aguachile verdes and camarones al mojo de ajo. The aguachiles were delicious! They are definitely on the spicier side, but I personally really like that. The camarones al mojo de ajo were soo good too. They were slightly too salty for my liking, but the flavor was delicious. Their rice and beans were very good too. The salsa that came with the plate was also very good. The service was fine, but could have been better. We entered and were a bit lost whether we could sit on our own, or had to wait to be seated. Eventually, someone noticed and directed us to a table. It took a bit for us to receive the complimentary chips and salsa and for our drink order to be taken. Once our food was ready, our waitress checked in on us quite frequently to ensure everything was fine. I also tried their agua de coco. I wish it had bits of coconut in it, but it was still really yummy. We found a parking spot right in front, but I believe there is also a private parking lot on the side. Definitely recommend this place!

We are frequent customers as seafood dishes are good and price point is fair for quality and taste. Service is always fast and it can become crowded at times. Restroom is always clean and tables too. Michelada with Pacifico is great! The green aguachile was very good. Shrimp was perfect and not overly cooked in lemon. The aguachile sauce was nice and balanced -- great flavor. The sushi is savory and not authentic sushi if you're looking for that. It's Sinaloa/mexican inspired sushi which has cream cheese/imitation crab for most of its base. This tempura sushi was good and the cilantro sauce gave it a very good taste. The cucumber agua fresca was delicious as always. The agua de horchata de coco was nice and creamy. Children's selection for food is limited

I love coming here for their molcajete and aguachiles! Food is super flavorful and always fresh. Friendly service as usual.

The food lacked flavor . Even the salsa. The wonton chips that we were served were stale. I ordered the imperial roll, it was not what I pictured because due to the presentation and lack of flavor. Service was slow, but our waitress was courteous. The cucumber agua Fresca was the best thing served there. This place is not for sushi lovers.

I returned and brought my boyfriend! I treated him to a celebratory dinner, after getting his business ready for business! We shared the botana especial, papas and camaron, and octopus. Everything was DE-LICOUS. I had never had deep friend octopus before. I really enjoyed it. It was a little tough but not rubbery. I didn't mind it. The botana was great. The shrimp and potatoes were delicious, of course. They're potatoes are thick and tender. YUM! He really enjoyed it too!

This place is awesome. My general manager from Downey Hyundai comes here one to two times a week and he loves it so I tagged the long one time and it's awesome. He did all the ordering so I'm not really sure what we got but everything was phenomenal. We got these I remember Fried shrimps with the special sauce on it. It was delicious shrimp cocktail, but it was with everything I had crab and oyster and avocado it was delicious also and two sushi rolls which were also delicious. Highly recommend this place. It's not too expensive places very clean service as fast And the Michelada was awesome.

I really enjoy this place. Service is courteous and fast. Food is always on point. We come here for the Sinaloa style Sushi is always made to perfection.

Service was bad the service there was super bad they didn't even give me extra tostadas or extra like they wanted to charge me extra and they didn't even take Apple Pay

The two times I've been here service has been fast. Food is a little pricey but amazing. Customer service is great, haven't had a bad experience. First time we visit they had mariachi playing. This second time they didn't.

I'm never disappointed when I come to Emporio to eat. Their aguachiles verdes are so bomb! Most places don't make them spicy enough but that's not the case here. The best!

Fuimos un Domingo poquito después de medio día. Como a la 1:30 de la tarde. Habíamos visto muchas promociones en la aplicación de Instagram. La comida se veía muy sabrosa y decidimos ir a probarlos. Al entrar había una pareja adelante de nosotros esperando una mesa. No se cuanto ellos tenían esperando pero de cuando nosotros entramos todavía esperamos todo alrededor de 10 minutos. En ese tiempo nadie vino a preguntarnos cuántos éramos para una mesa oh por lo menos " ahorita los atendemos". A los 10 minutos nos sentaron y nos dieron el menú. Nuestra mesera después vino a pedirnos la orden de la bebidas y después a tomarnos la orden de la comida. Desafortunadamente nuestra mesera no tenía ningún atención al cliente. Parecía hasta que le molestaba tener que atendernos. A la hora de tomarnos la orden de comida no recomendó ningún platillo. Cuando le pregunte por el precio de la Botana de camarón ( porque no estaba en el menu) y tuna me dijo que no sabía y que tendría que preguntar pero no se ofreció averiguar. No lo hiba ordenar pero mi esposo me dijo "Mija usted no pregunte ordénalos si los quiere" y los ordené. Pero cabe notar que la mesera no tenía ninguna iniciativa de ser complaciente con nosotros. La botana estaba rica la verdad tenía buen sabor. Mi hermana pidió Los Camarones Roca y también estaban muy ricos. Dulcecitos y picosos a la vez; nos recordaron un poco a los de Panda Express pero obviamente más picosos . Mi esposo ordenó el Molcajete Mixto y la verdad ese platillo si estuvo mediocre en sabor. La carne estaba demasiado seca, la salsa/jugo del molcajete no tenía sabor. En el momento que nuestra mesera terminó de tomarnos la orden ya no tuvo la gentileza de pararse en nuestra mesa hasta que ya era hora de pagar. Varias veces tuve que pedirle a otra mesera si me podría traer cubiertos extra, más salsa, más agua, servilletas, y una cajita para llevar. Intentamos tratar de llamar la atención de nuestra mesera pero o se hacia o si estaba que nunca vinos a ver si necesitábamos algo más. El restaurante no estaba lleno y no tenían gente esperando para que los atendieran. Las otras meseras si fueran muy lindas pero desafortunadamente la que nos tocó a nosotros nada más no se portó bien. A la hora de pagar también le tuvimos que pedir la cuenta a otra mesera y entonces si ya vino nuestra mesera original a entregarnos la cuenta. Mi hermana aprovechó y le pidió su nombre entonces si su actitud cambió "Fabi cualquier cosa que necesiten muchas gracias" un poco tarde para ser amable. Pagamos la cuenta y NO DEJAMOS TIP Ahora yo entiendo que hay un debate muy grande de "you always have to tip" y en esta familia no se Cree en eso. Porque te voy a dar un tip por un mal servicio? Page lo que ordenamos y ya; si ella nos hubiera atendido bien le hubiera dado el 10% si nos hubiera dado excelente servicio el doble. Pero no lo hizo en verdad su actitud es la razón por lo que en verdad no no recomendamos a Emporio. Comer uno puede ir a donde sea pero donde te traten bien ahí si no en cualquier lugar. En resumen la comida está ok pero hay lugares con mejor comida y sabor, mejor atención al cliente y mejores precios. Si decides darle un oportunidad en verdad deseo que te atiendan mejor de lo que nos atendieron a nosotros. Tienen diferentes locales tal vez ahí tengan mejor atención al cliente.

So goooooood, the green aguachile I've gone back and will continue to go back. Highly recommend.

I love this this place and every time I've ordered the food is always fresh. The oyster shots are a must try. Anything off the menu is pretty good. The service was great and great staff. Love that the music isn't too loud to where you can't here your friends or family,

Food was good, but the prices were not. I order a ceviche and it was pretty small for the price. Delicious yes, but not for almost $20. I also was seated outside in the parking lot under a tent it was pretty hot inside no fan or enough open Airflow. Even got these camarones nayarit they were gold but again not for $32 small medium shrimps about 10-12 shrimps. We also had a sushi roll it was definitely $17 for a simple california roll with avocado on top that was more rice then filling. Gave it a 3 stars because food was good but didn't meet my expectations for the price and quantity.

Food is great! Service is horrible! Blonde short haired waiter is more into gossiping with her coworker about the rest of the staff than taking care of the only table in the restaurant. If upselling is what the owners of the restaurant want she is not it. I wanted to order more food but she kept telling me to wait while she kept talking to 2 other women behind the counter. After the third attempt she finally comes in a hurry to get right back to her chat. We were a table of 5 that paid 136$ for food but were never given a napkin nor she gave us the time to ask for a piece of lime. To get our ticket i had to stand up by my table for about 10 minutes before she even noticed me. Her talking about other workers performance while being so bad herself is beyond me

Service is terrible. These workers aren't professional at all and do not treat customers with respect. Seems when you ask them for anything it's like a chore to them. The food can be great but what gets them not to have a lot of service is the lack of professionalism delivered by their employees. this place doesn't give you a welcoming vibes but instead a bothering vibe. Like you're bothering your waitresses when you ask them for something. That being said, I ordered shrimp with potato's and a drink and it wasn't bad at all. But I wouldn't come back because of the servers that work there.

First time trying the shrimp cocktail I thought it was gonna be like all the others spots but this place definitely changed my mind and it was freaking delicious best shrimp cocktail with everything on it. I recommend everyone try it once cause you will be back. Only issue I had was the waitress looked sad or didn't want to be there.

A friend originally recommended this place to me and I like it here. Food is good, vibe is chill and its cool. My favorite things to order, as of now, are the oysters, micheladas, quesito de camaron and the aguachiles en navolato. I have tried there sushi twice, but I am not a fan of mexican sushi in general so... pass. Indoor and outdoor dining are available, keep in mind that Dulce Cravings is also located inside through Paramount Blvd entrance. So go on the side, someone will sit you and bring out some complimentary fried wontons chips and sauce. Service has been good almost every time we have gone, I have really had no problems, honestly. Parking is located in the back, again, no problem. Check it out if you're in the area.

This place doesn't get the recognition it deserves. The ratings on here are untrue. Food is great, friendly staff. Came on a Monday for lunch. Would recommend. ten outta ten.

I tried placing an order over the phone and the girl that answered the phone asked for my name. I think she didn't understand my name so instead of asking me to spell it out she hung up on me LOL. I tried calling back three times and she was clearly not answering anymore. So dumb. I've now read other reviews and I guess the service here is pretty bad. I can't speak for the food because I didn't get a chance to try it. Whomever was answering the phone on Sunday 2/5 at 3:20 PM earned you this review.

The service was HORRIBLE! The waitresses are rude and take forever to do anything! Not once did they come check up We had to flag them down to get what we needed and seems like they get upset that you do so. Walking around with an attitude. The food was ok... We got 2 different ceviches, cocktail and shrimp empanadas. Best thing was probably the shrimp empanadas Would not recommend

Emporio has been where I take all my friends and family when I want a solid Mariscos spot with fairly good parking. The micheladas always hit and come in a tall mug (not a schooner which I hate it's hard to hold) with Navolato chamoy and tajin on the rim. I have my own michelada business so that says a lot. Get the pulpo zarandeado and the botanas. This is #2 on my fave Mariscos spots. The sushi is culichi style. I don't order it cuz I'm a nigiri or sashimi girl. I like my fish raw and pretty plain. All in all a great place! The ladies that serve here are always so sweet even tho it gets busy.

Called in for a large tray of mariscos. I over heard one of the waitress tell the other to make me wait. They were so rude over the phone. I will no longer be dinning with my family at this establishment.

I've eaten here a few times and each time I think it's going to be different and it's the same bad service, long wait times and food taste bad: anything deep fried taste old and multi flavored bc the oil isn't changed daily! The restaurant is dirty, floors, under the booth tables, on the seats.

Ordered grilled shrimp and they did not devein the shrimp and it was disgusting. I'm giving it one more shot because I like the deviled shrimp and they do devein those. I hope the restaurant sees this.

Don't go to this place service sucks!! Waitresses here will not greet you they see you standing in the entrance and will ignore you. They don't care . Place is dirty . Este lugar no sirve en lo más absoluto. El servicio es PESIMOOOOO. Las meseras no te quieren atender uno llega , se queda uno más confundido que nada . Las meseras no te saludan , no te preguntan si es para comer ahí o para llevar ...? Te ignoran por completo . Se ven esas mujeres tan frustradas ....de verlas dan hueva asta el hambre se te quita.

Great food and friendly staff, love the oyster shots and sushi. The only issue is that there's to much weight some time, not enough people serving. I had to weight over 30 min for a drink. Other than that it was great

I hadn't been here in a couple years so I stopped by on Tuesday evening around 730pm and the place was almost empty. It seemed like they were ready to close, we were seated at a booth and handed dirty, greasy menus that were on a wooden board that had pieces of wood chipped off. After we ordered, the waitress starts sweeping the booth seats with a DIRTY BROOM. To top it off, I got my food on a broken ceramic plate and when I got to the last piece of my baked sushi, it had a huge piece of raw salmon. The service was good and the restrooms were clean but I am so disappointed as this was once one of my top favorite restaurants. I won't be back.

Oh em geee! I had been seeing this place pop up on my Instagram newsfeed and I kept saying I need to try this. I am so glad I made the drive from Azusa to Downey to try this place with my bestie. Yes I am aware that there is one in Fontana, and trust, I will be taking my sis in law to that one but the bestie lives closer to the one in Downey. The food was delicious the micheladas were great and the customer service was welcoming. I like that they didn't seem like they were trying o rush us out, we sat there and ate and drank and caught up and they would come by when they saw we were on empty. All in all a great experience and delicious one too. I absolutely recommend this place. Oh and btw my friend peeked in the kitchen and she made the comment that it looked very clean. Lol yup bestie was on it. So you don't have to worry. Drop by!

The sushi rolls are amazing the customer service needs some help but the food is so good

Sushi meets Mexican. I have been here two times since Emporio Sushi Y Mariscos opened just before COVID-19. The first time (7/24/20) was a terrible wait. Over an hour for takeout. All I ordered was a Tiger Roll ($12.00) and a medium Horchata De Coco ($4.00). Both were extremely satisfying, but that wait time, tho... The second time (9/10/20) my brother and I shared a Tiger roll, an Imperial roll, a salmon roll, an oyster shot, and caldo de camaron for a grand total of $62.70. If you prefer your shrimp to be shelled and deveined, don't order the caldo de camaron here. My favorite roll was by far the tiger roll. It was the freshest. Their Imperial tempera roll seemed to hold up well, but the potato curls on top seemed a bit much plus they didn't taste good. The staff was indifferent both times. Not sure what's up with that. For now they are open for takeout or outdoor dining.

I enjoy the food here, but service is just horrible. It's always a struggle to get someone's attention to be seated, order, and get the check. Waitress did not pass by one time to check in with us or anything. Waited over 15 mins to get our check when we asked multiple times for it. Restaurant was not packed at all. Probably will be the last time coming back.

The best mexican sushi spot around town! I recommend the aguachile roll. My wife likes the shrimp quesito tacos.

Service 5 stars Seafood 5 stars Cocktails 5 stars Sushi rolls 2 stars The seafood here is great (seriously - so good) but the rolls not so much. The rolls didn't sound great to me because they all mostly had cream cheese and cream cheese and tangy, spicy seafood just don't mix but I ordered one anyway to try out and I was right. I did not like the flavor combination, too much cream cheese and plus the rice quality just wasn't there. Its a good idea but the execution wasn't right. Anyway back to their seafood I ordered a tostada, and the longostinos, pulpo tacos and some drinks they were all amazing! I can't wait to come back and order strictly from seafood menu and cocktails. Beware though the food is very high in salt, I felt my blood pressure sky rocket when I left there. This isn't your every day meal.

The food and the service is on point but I don't understand why they never turn the AC on when the weather is about 100° outside.

This was my first time coming here, the food was good. The service was not. We waited awhile before they came over to say hello and ask for drinks. We waited a while for the food as well. There is also a business selling mini pancakes and the entrance and coming in gets confusing because it is very unorganized. The sushi however was very delicious. The drinks were very small and not that good. I don't think I will be coming back.

I'm giving this place a 4 star because there food is very delicious . Sushi is amazing and their edamame is fire !!! But their service is really bad. They must of been understaffed but it took them like 25 min to acknowledge me and to take me take out order . No matter how busy you are " a hello and I'll be right with you " is always good

This is definitely a worth it stop. Was visiting from out of town and really craving mariscos. We went to a few places and were disappointed because it was completely whitewashed overpriced and terrible. Finally found this spot and LOVED IT! First our waitress was the sweetest most accommodating ever. She explained all the items very well and offered us a ton of recommendations and alternatives. I really wish we would have found it earlier. Authentic mariscos. Had the freshest oysters plain and with ceviche. So good. With the salsa on the side. We chose the green salsa, it was so spicy and flavorful. Really good. My friends and I ordered a variety of tacos and all were excellent. You cannot go wrong with this place. Their drinks were also great. And most importantly for us were their micheladas. The waitress brought me a sample of there tomato juice to try and it was excellent. Definitely recommend this place

Came here on a weekend night just by chance since it was one of the few marisco spots open a little late(ish). Got the Emporio ceviche and a mango michelada.. oh my gah! Both were sooo good. A lot of marisco spots lack lime for the most part in their ceviche, this ceviche was perfect. Definitely recommend. Glad to have stumbled into this spot.

I feel humiliated I always come to this location and today for the 2nd time time they humiliated me because of the way I looked coming out of work. I came to pick up take out and it was ready the whole time, while the blond hair worker kept attending other people and pointing at me laughing and talking with her co workers while both of them kept laughing and pointing at me. Until for the 3rd time of asking where's my order they finally told me the food that was on the table for the past 30min was mines. And I told them why didn't they give it to me this whole time. I get home and my order was already very cold, mind you I had called and they told me it was ready in 15-20min I get there in time and the bag was there and still made me wait an additional 30 while I was getting made fun of. Overall the food is great but service is horrible.

First time at this restaurant. A lot of reviews complain about the service but we didn't notice anything bad about it. Maybe it was because it wasn't too busy. But food came out within a timely manner and our waitress checked up on us pretty frequently. The food wasn't bad but it didn't blow my mind either. It could use more flavor and more spice in my opinion on the agauachile dishes. We tried some sushi rolls too and they were made well. This place gets a lot of criticism on their service and their food looked good from the pictures so I had to come and try it.
