Emu Walk Apartments | Best places to stay in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park

"Pitched at families, or perhaps a group of friends travelling together, these impressive apartments offer self-contained accommodation with a splash of Outback style. All apartments are equipped with kitchens, laundries and spacious living areas. The bright furnishings reflect the colours of the desert and indigenous artwork is featured throughout. The property is right next to Town Square, the hub of Ayers Rock Resort, and yet offers oodles of privacy. " - Mark Chipperfield

Our apartment was comfortable, well located and nicely decorated. Free laundry, and great wifi. Spacious bedrooms, comfortable beds. The kitchen had a cook-top, a freezer and a separate fridge; the fridge had a foot missing |so it rocked annoyingly. No oven and no dishwasher. The bathroom was clean enough, nice shower. However, the whole place could do with a repaint and a refresh of the bathroom. Was about AU$200 per person/night (May 2025).|Would definitely consider staying there again.

This was a great option travelling with three adults. Separate bedroom and our son slept on the sofa bed. Great to have some kitchen facilities. We didn’t mind that the apartment wasn’t serviced during our 3 night stay - there were loads of towels supplied there was nothing else we needed. Air con was a little clunky sounding but didn’t need to be on for long as it heated up really quickly. Very comfortable and nicely decorated, short walk to town square and restaurants. Would stay here again.

We recently stayed at Emu walk in a one bedroom apartment. It was very clean comfortable and well quipped. A king bed that was comfy and nice pillows. Lots of teas coffees sugars shampoos soaps and towels provided. TV and free wifi were very good . Location was good walking distance to shops supermarket eateries and car park. Staff were helpful friendly and professional. Would happily stay there again.

It is baffling that this place has such a high rating. We paid AUD 600+ per night for a dirty one bedroom flat. The safety lock on the door was broken off, light in kitchen flickering, washer had a clogged filter, the cooling/heating unit malfunctioned, kitchen faucet falling off, Nespresso machine was dirty, and the bathroom door was not closing. The only good thing was the friendly repair man. He was fantastic and very friendly. Certain areas like the bedroom had a minor makeover, which looked nice but just didn’t make up for the rest of the condition of the unit. Value to price here is way off.

Emu apartments was a great choice for more independent visitors. Clean and welcoming with desert vibe. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and you just plan your own trips and eats. Our only gripe was the air-conditioning which works well but sounds like a jet engine and the controller set to fare height. Isn't Australia metric

We have really enjoyed our stay at the Emu Walk Apartments. They are well located, in part of a much larger complex of Hotel and commercial premises. Lots of places here to eat, drink, shop. The actual Emu Walk apartments are self catering and are very well equipped with everything needed, including supplies of cleaning and bathroom stuff. The apartment was well set up and spotless on our arrival. Around the complex the various staff teams are courteous and helpful. I've marked a 3* for Service only because of the self catering aspect. Where we used any services they were spot on. Overall our stay here has been most enjoyable and we would highly recommend it.

We stayed for three nights in March in a one bedroom apartment with our adult son sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room (they had no two bed rooms left). Clean, comfortable and various options for eating out around the resort, as well as a well stocked supermarket for eating in. Plenty of towels and toiletries provided.

My friend & I shared a one bedroomed apartment for two nights. The apartment was spacious, clean and had everything we needed for a self catering break. Due to our flight we arrived around 10.30am, we were aware check in wasn't until 3pm but were able to get the key at 1pm. Whilst we were waiting for our room we took the free shuttle bus to visit the camel farm. The apartments are very close to the well stocked supermarket and cafes and shops in the Town Square. Organised trips leave from the hotel next door which is only a two minute walk away. If I ever get the chance to visit Uluru again I would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
It's clean and spacious. The only thing is, it's skipped by the tour buses and need to walk to the other hotel. Wish the rooms were cleaned every two days at least. We stayed for three nights and four days and our unit was not cleaned even once. But we have enough towels. Staff are on to deal with. The front office could be a little friendlier. The bathroom in the reception area stinks so much.

Yelp
Location: It's on the resort, next to Desert Springs. The airport shuttle is the only bus that picks up here. The free resort shuttle and the tours all pick up at Desert Springs. It's about a 10 minute walk on the main road to the Uluru lookout spot, which is very nice. No restaurant/food at this hotel. Room: The living room was large and the sofa was big and comfy. There's a washer and dryer that we didn't use. The bedrooms are a good size and the beds and pillows were nice. The bathroom is big but the shower stall is on the small side. The apartment is starting to show its age, especially noticeable in the bathroom and the carpeting. Toilet is stained, probably by the soft water. This place could definitely use some upgrading/renovations. Service: The front desk staff- some are nicer than others. The lady who checked us in insisted on trying to check two groups in at once but then would get snippy if we didn't answer her when she spoke to us- as if we were somehow supposed to know which group she was directing her requests to as she didn't look up! Also, some questions we received different answers to. The cell phone/WiFi was completely down at the entire resort for our 1.5 day stay, including all hotels, restaurants, stores, grocery store, and park. You had to either use cash or charge to room if that was an option. This hotel was the most expensive one on our trip to NZ and Australia. You don't really have a choice as the only way place to stay is at the resort and this was the only apartment hotel there. Based on our experience at this resort, I wouldn't recommend visiting.

Yelp
I lived with three other family members in one apartment, which had very spacious living/dining areas so that we could spread out. The master bedroom with a king sized bed is linked to the only bathroom. Towels and some toiletries were provided. The two pull out mattress were decently comfy. Had to call to get some sheets, which came by in 15 minutes. Kitchen is large and includes silverware and pots; the nearest grocery store is only a 5 minute walk so can easily prepare meals. Air conditioning is present but gave the place a funny smell and was hard to control. Also, since there was only one bathroom/shower, we had to figure out how to share. Price: $414/night, with breakfast included; its on the pricey side but it's the only apartment option in Ayers Rock resort.

Yelp
Five Stars for a 3 star hotel. So there are 5 properties in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Park and the Emu Walk is one of properties in the Central hotel area right next to the town square. There is a complimentary hotel shuttle from the Ayers Rock airport operated by ATT Kings tours and the motor coaches come with free wi-fi, although very slooow. The front desk clerk was very cordial and had all of my day trip information available and was able to check me in early knowing I had a tour booked before the 3PM check in time. We booked a little late so the only availability was at the Emu Walk in the 1 bedroom apartment, and for $200 a night, was deal for a newly remodeled suite (please see pictures). The beds are really soft, the AC was awesome, and having a full kitchen was awesome for our last morning since we were able to make breakfast with items from the market which is right next door to the Emu Walk. There was even a washer and drier in the kitchen. In addition to the nice bedroom and living areas, there were two balconies, with a balcony that had a desert view. There is also free wi-fi but it is also a bit on the slow side. Instagram and Facebook uploads were a little slow or would fail. But we have no problem with emails on our devices. The only negative point was that the tour do not pick up or drop off so you will need to walk five minutes next door to the Desert Gardens. Just another FYI that the airport transfer is 2 hours before your flight takes off, even though the airport is 15 minutes away. I look forward to my next trip which will be during the Australian Winter when there are less flies!

Yelp
Uluru is an oasis in the outback/desert! There are only a few hotel options, this is the mid-tier choice. Plenty of room/space. Washer/dryer is nice. Small kitchenette. Limited TV channels. It's located right next to the central square, which is very convenient!

Yelp
Brilliant We choose these apartments because they had been refurbished. We checked in early and they phoned us when the rooms were ready about half an hour later. (There was one girl on reception duty, all the people before us had major problems, the receptionist was brilliant, sorted everyone!) The apartments were spacious, clean and well designed with all the comforts of home. Check out was just as simple as check in! Would recommend and return.
