Duluth’s Best Croissants Will Be Available on the Lakewalk Starting Saturday | Eater Twin Cities

"I also note that Endion Station is already a spot for local music and casual dining with spectacular lake views, and that its usual lunch and dinner hours take over after the morning cafe’s 11:00 am end to breakfast service." - Joy Summers

Overall, I really enjoyed this stay! You can't beat the location for the price. We stayed in Room 2 and it was a way nicer than I expected based on the pictures. The main building also looks a lot less creepy than the photos (lol) but here's what you NEED to know if you're going to stay here: Parking is so, so convenient. We're talking 1 free pass right in front of the building with (paid) parking literally everywhere else if you're bringing a second vehicle. Location is 5 stars!!! Very walkable!! We walked up Superior Street to Duluth Trading Co, a very cute shop called Hucklebeary, Fitgers, and Portland Malt Shoppe, then all the way back to the inn. And do not miss Duluth's Best Bread!! It's so easy to venture around Canal Park and even the aquarium is walking distance (use the Slip bridge just past Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory). I loved the layout of the room. The bed and pillows were so comfy, and there was a cute bar seating set-up looking out the windows - although could be awkward if people are on the patio. There's a mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee maker with a pitcher-thing of water. You get two BOGO beer coupons from Fitgers as well, which is a fun treat. The only downside is that it's the last hotel/inn on the hotel row, right behind a public beach and lakefront walk, with a public bathroom adjacent to it in a small "park" (grassy area). This meant that unfortunately yes, the other reviews are true and there are some skeezy looking people specifically loitering in the bathroom area. My boyfriend and I sat on the front patio for breakfast, walked the lakefront walk during the day and evening, but felt that sticking to the inner road (Canal Park Drive) at night was best as a precaution. We kept the blinds closed in the room whenever we weren't there but never felt unsafe in the first floor room. Like any other city, just be aware of your surroundings especially at night and you'll be fine! There is a sauna (we didn't use it because it's outdoors on the side patio and just felt weird), cornhole, and a small fire pit with chairs looking out towards Superior. The building is old, so we heard our neighbors walking and talking upstairs. With the tv on it wasn't bad, plus the inn has "quiet hours" 10pm-8am that everyone surrounding us followed. You do have to be pretty self-sufficient to stay here. Everything is key code access, no physical keys or cards. There aren't staff or front desk or even common areas (besides the outdoor fun spaces) on-site so if you need help you have to call/text them between 8am-8pm. Our a/c didn't work the first night (and the windows don't open), and when I texted about the issue the following morning the issue was quickly taken up and solved within a few hours by the manager on duty. Thanks Kristin!! If it wasn't for the sweltering hot first night and the sketchy park people, definitely would have given this stay 5 stars!!

The location is great - right on the lakewalk. We stayed in room #5, upstairs. It was spacious and clean, with cool antique decor. Nice bathroom. There were a few maintenance items that should be addressed - the shower light did not work, there was a hole in the wall from the door handle. These issues did not impact our stay too much. As noted in other reviews, the adjacent park (although beautiful) does attract overnight residents. We never felt unsafe, but the owners might consider a locked gate around the property and deck. It's very open, and people can walk right through the deck and sauna area, past ground floor windows.

This was a cool place to stay. I loved the history of the building (former train station), which has been renovated/updated, but with a rustic touch that makes this place very unique. There is also a large deck area with lights, tables, a fire pit, and a sauna! Beautiful views of Lake Superior and Duluth. Walking distance from dozens of great restaurants and shops in Canel Park.

My son and I just stayed in Room 2. The location was fantastic being right on the Canal Walk. The space was a good size and we enjoyed the sauna and free parking. However, the room smelled musty and there was pet hair all over the bed. We were not traveling with a pet. The sheets and blankets weren't nice. We did not feel particularly safe. There were a lot of homeless people hanging around between the parking lot and restrooms, and people who weren't staying there walking right up to the rooms to look at the place. I wouldn't stay here again.

I booked a room at the Endion Station Inn six months in advance directly through them (not a third party). A week before my stay, I noticed they hadn’t charged my card and reached out — after multiple calls and texts, I was told I had no reservation. I even got a cancellation email mid-call.||I was promised a call from the owner that never came. Management offered a $200 credit (declined), then said they’d cover what I would’ve paid toward another hotel. The only Canal Park options left were either awful or $500+ a night. They eventually found us a room 20 minutes away, but we still paid about $300 extra plus Uber and parking costs.||The place looks nice, but this experience — and what I’ve since heard about the area at night — left a very bad impression.

Wonderful location on Canal Park, great room, beautiful view in room #5, and it has a nespresso machine and sauna! Highly recommend. I did, however, leave the hotel the morning of check out to see that someone had thrown a rock at my car and broke half of the windshield, so it might not be the safest parking location.

Endion Station is in a great location in Canal Park - rooms are clean and comfortable. Unfortunately husband and I left a day early because of open drug activity close to hotel and on lake walk. Unless addressed by city officials we'll not stay in Duluth again.

Was in Duluth on on business and was looking for a hotel room in Canal Park. I stumbled across the Endion Station Inn. And it was a wonderful surprise. A small boutique hotel, in a 125 year old train depot, with quaint, rlaxing rooms. And three of the five rooms have a Lake Superior view. I had not been in a sauna for a while and it was very nice to be able to relax in the sauna with a beverage. And then out to the patio overlooking the lake for a little fire in the gas fire pit. Truly, a hidden gem. I will be bringing my wife back here on our trips to the North Shore. 5 Stars

Yelp
Lovely small hotel in Duluth in easy walking distance to everything you could want to do. Key code entry makes check in a breeze, and the free drink coupons are a great add!
