Healthy Brighton Cafe Floods Symphony With Juices | Eater Boston

"Opened in 2016, the original Energize at 618 Washington St. in Oak Square offers a menu built around whole foods and healthy, meat-free options, including juice blends, acai and smoothie bowls, salads, and shakes. Their juices mix greens and fruit with blend-ins ranging from chia seeds and almond milk to ginger and agave; smoothie bowls come topped with banana, strawberry, granola, and more; and salads include greens, grains, nuts, and light dressings like balsamic vinaigrette or lemon juice. The brand was founded by four friends—Tihomir Deliivanov, Ivaylo Dimitrov, Tsvetelin Dimitrov, and Radomir Stoyanov—and launched a mobile ordering app last winter." - Dana Hatic

Brighton’s Energize Juice Shop Plans New Location for 2018 | Eater Boston

"A Boston-born juice shop that opened in Brighton in May 2017 at 618 Washington St., this small Oak Square storefront was founded by four friends — Tihomir Deliivanov, Ivaylo Dimitrov, Tsvetelin Dimitrov, and Radomir Stoyanov — and focuses on a plant-based menu of smoothies, juice blends, salads, and other health-centric items made with clean, organic ingredients. The team has cultivated strong local support, uses social media to communicate with customers, and in December launched a mobile app to streamline ordering." - Dana Hatic

Google
I love the gluten and Dairy free waffle here! I add the chocolate and strawberries. It is moist and delicious. Thankful to have a place like this is brighton.

Google
This place is cute and the salad is so good!! The customer service was also superb ☺️ I highly recommend the plant power salad, it's delicious!

Google
Great place to grab smoothies and bowls. We got 6 different things and overall were really happy with our choices. The two guys behind the counter were super friendly and their menu is incredibly allergy friendly if you need it to be.

Google
Always great food, consistent and fresh. Staff is helpful and just very nice. Definitely would recommend. My favorites are Post workout liquid meal, their classic pita pocket, and adding "flu shot" to Florida juice. The " flu shot" is very strong. They also have great salads. I got them few times when guests were over for dinner, and it was always easy and very impressive addition to our table.

Google
Friendly service. Healthy smoothies and bowls. Takes some time if ordering in store. Ordering: People are greeted with a friendly smile as they enter, as long as the staff isn't occupied with making an order. Most orders appear to be to go. If you're looking to dine in, there are 6 window seats, 5 bench tables, and 2 tables in the middle. It does take some time to make a smoothie bowl even when there is no one else there, a little over 5 minutes, so don't expect to be in and out unless you order ahead. Food: The acai bowl is good. The acai smoothie is sweet and slightly tart. The bananas and strawberries on top were fresh and ripe, although you only get about a single strawberry sliced up. Their granola is very crunchy. It has something crisped mixed in it that isn't in the description. I've also tried the goji berry bowl, which was good too. The toppings are a nice variety and plentiful. Dislike: The super acai bowl was not a great experience for me. I personally recommend avoiding anything with whole goji berries, ones that aren't blended. The goji berries are unbelievably tough because they use dried goji berries that aren't presoaked. Goji berries are normally dried because they aren't easily available fresh. Less than half was crispy and a little hard, but the majority were really hard to comfortably bite into. If you do manage to bite into them, they then stick to your teeth when you bite into them. Restroom: There is a clean restroom to wash up in. Parking: There is free 2 hour parking all around on Washington St and other streets. This area doesn't have parking meters.

Google
After a long bus journey from Portland, I really fancied a smoothie bowl. This place was just a short walk from where I was staying and there was a lot of menu choice. I did go for a smoothie bowl and it was delicious. A lot of different options for just this one dish. They offer smoothies and bowls also! So good!

Jackie L.

Google
Energize makes it easy to eat healthy! I saw they had online ordering via their app so I gave it a download. Quickly found what I was looking to order and went to checkout. Love how the app had Apple Pay as a payment option — I didn’t even have to take my credit card out. The smoothie I ordered (called ‘Happiness’) was perfect and the staff were friendly. I’ll be back since I have their app now!

Austin C.

Google
Awesome local spot for delicious salads and bowls and smoothies! Highly recommend the Plant Power salad! Order ahead online to skip waiting!

Yelp
attention all reservoir walkers and runners alike! energize is the perfect place to stop for a pre- or post-reservoir treat! they have so many unique options that you won't find at your typical smoothie place. their options also very paleo and vegan friendly by default! i tried both the goji berry bowl and the cashew cheesecake. they are very filling and packed with nutrients! the cashew cheesecake is on the sweeter side but both hit the spot!

Yelp
Second time here, really fun concept, delicious fresh food, and a good bargain. Tired of fatty and pesticide/germ-infested animal foods, and pizza. I hope more people try this place out right in Oak Square. Yum!

Yelp
Great açaí bowls. Love the coffee lover smoothie. Healthy plant based coffee. Plenty of seating and clean bathroom.

Judith C.

Yelp
The neighborhood is SO fortunate to have Energize. I hope people will flock there to fuel up with the numerous options. I enjoy and endorse many items on the menu e.g., salads, smoothies, liquid meals, and peanut/ cashew bits. Clean space, quick service, and personable staff. I appreciated the other reviews and the great suggestion for reservoir walkers and runners - a great stop-by pre or post-your exercise. Support this place and your health!

Stephen F.

Yelp
This place has the best salads. Hearty and healthy. Definitely filled me up. Great variety of ingredients made for a unique and incredibly good meal. The food came out quickly and the people working there were very friendly. This place is now on my rotation for healthy meals.

Yelp
I'm so happy this is right nearby. We were looking for something fast and relatively healthy on move-in day and I'm an absolute sucker for a place that offers both açaí bowls and huge salads. The one thing to note is that Energize offers a lot of vegan options, with protein add-ons in the form of tofu or nuts (no chicken, salmon, beef, etc.). I went with the matcha bowl - though I didn't get really any matcha flavor, it was light, well-mixed, and I appreciated the generous handful of bananas and goji berries. My husband liked the custom salads, which was actually quite filling if you load up on avocados and nuts. I would say the prices skew on the expensive side, especially since none of the salads contain meat. Heard great things about their smoothies too - all fresh ingredients. I'd want to come back and try the other açaí bowls and salad options, as well as the pita pocket sandwich. Street parking on a busy stretch of road. Lots of seating inside.
google avatar

Karan C.

Yelp
I'm really glad that they brought back the cashew energy bites. I sincerely hope that they'll add new items to the menu for the summertime.

Jennifer P.

Yelp
If you are looking for healthy juices, blends, salads, or sandwiches this is the place! The staff are extremely friendly and are available to answer any questions. My 11 year old son is a BIG fan of the happiness blend and peanut butter protein bites. My favorite is the pita sandwich and healthy heaven blend. Their dining area is spacious and clean!

Yelp
A MUST DO! 4 & 1/3 STARS! Their Avocado Toast is THE BOMB! DELICIOUS! I Love the Organic Ingredients that they offer here. They have Smoothies, Juices, Liquid Meals, Bowls, Salads, Toasts & a lot More. They have their own App now called Energize Boston & you have multiple ways to pay including Apple Pay. Energize has a modern interior with light colored woods. There are tables & chairs & benches inside as well. They are a little bit pricey. I've had a few of their Smoothies; they are Good. But the Avocado Toast is on a whole another level. The Avocado Toast starts off with a Sprouted Grain Bread. They mix in onions, lime & Pink Himalayan Salt into the Avocado Mash & it's topped off with hemp seeds & Grape Tomatoes. It's a Perfect Balance of Healthy, Tasty & a little bit spicy Flavors. Delish! You got to try the Avocado Toast here. It used to be, you had to have Mega Bucks & be really rich to have the Good Life, not anymore. The Game has changed. You've been Upgraded. Now You Can Live Like a King on a Limited Budget

Yelp
I've written a few reviews on Yelp (all complaints). As the saying goes- most people who post are folks who had a negative experience. I just finished eating two and a half pita pockets - that's a lot for me. After I ate one of them, I had to try half of the one with tofu in it. They were both delicious. However, I don't like kale unless it's sauteed; I loved it in these pita sandwiches. I also got a tonic for my stomach- cayenne, lemon, and ginger- so good for gut health. This place has everything I've always wanted, and they deliver. I'm head over heels in love with the quality of the food. This was the first of many meals I plan to order from Energize. Simply the best.

Yelp
Nothing special. Lacked flavor and any sort of wow factor. Also it was pretty warm. I would like a smoothie to be cold when I drink it. The price did not match to quality. A waste of money.

Yelp
I was craving açaí bowls that were similar to the ones I had in Hawaii or LA. Heard good things about Energize and tried it out last weekend. The store is bright and clean with 5-6 tables that you can sit and eat. Menu has a variety of smoothies, juice, and salad options (you can build your own salad). I tried both the Açaí bowl and the Green Matcha bowl - açaí bowl is topped with bananas, strawberries, and granola; matcha bowl is topped with bananas, strawberries, blueberries, and chia seeds. I thought both looked pretty and tasted fine, but wished that the toppings were a little more (you only get a handful of blueberries, a couple slices of banana, and maybe 1 strawberry). Also the açaí bowl was a bit overpowered by the banana that was mixed in - it was less fruity and flavorful than the ones I had before. The matcha flavor in the matcha bowl was also very minimal - the bowl was very green but I could barely taste any matcha flavor... It was still a decent breakfast overall, but my hunt for the best açaí bowl continues...

Yelp
Refreshing drink options, worth replacing espresso and coffee with all of the above instead!

Yelp
If you want the best, the freshest and the most energizing juices and smoothies: come to Energize!! The juice here is fresh pressed and absolutely fantastic. Such a nutritious way to start my day. The staff here is super friendly. I recommend the Mass Health. Actually you know what? I'm going to get a juice right now. Namaste

Melena S.

Yelp
Energize is super clean and nice but I wasn't too impressed with my smoothie bowl but I'm thinking it's because of the expectations I have for smoothie/açaí bowls and the expectations that other Yelp reviews for Energize created for me. I got the Matcha Bowl and my cousin got the Cashew Cheesecake. Neither of us were too impressed. The fruit to smoothie ratio was very off. I prefer to have a 1:1 fruit to smoothie ratio but I found myself having to do 1:3 sometimes 1:4 fruit to smoothie ratio. I felt like I was eating a smoothie with fruit and a spoon instead of an açaí bowl which is what I thought I'd be getting. It wasn't as filling as other reviews had said. I really wasn't impressed but I will go back to try the actual açaí bowl to see if it'll change my mind.
google avatar

Logan D.

Yelp
Pros: -Roomy, clean, and bright inside! -Lots of vegan options! Cons: -No nutrition info available -Pricey -- Acai Bowls ($9.90) Beautiful and very refreshing, though pricey. Update: thanks to the Energize team for reaching out to let me know the Acai bowl is ~450 calories, and the ingredients they use are all organic which contributes to higher prices.
google avatar

Yelp
Yes, yes, and more yes for this juice, smoothie bowl, and salad joint! You can trust they're giving you the best ingredients as well as your money's worth because they pack their smoothies/salads with the good stuff rather than just fillers. Further I always ask if the açaí is sweetened, and this was the FIRST place in Boston where it is NOT--meaning these bowls are actually good for you. My protein bowl with no dates tasted amazing, almost like ice cream, and my salad was filled with great and tasty ingredients. Staff is friendly, place is clean, and they have such an array of toppings and choices you won't leave disappointed!
google avatar

Yelp
I woke up really needing some fresh fruits and vegetables, so I turned to Energize. Something I really appreciate about Energize is that their produce is organic, which I don't see as often as I think I should. I ordered the "energize juice" which is a juice of kale, celery, cucumber, green apple, and lime. I also ordered the "green life" smoothie (actually is under their "liquid meal" category, of 24oz smoothies), which consisted of a fresh juice base (juiced cucumber, celery, kale, and lime) blended with avocado spinach and spirulina. The smoothie definitely had an avocado taste to it, which I enjoyed but is definitely an acquired taste. Both the juice and the smoothie were delicious and exactly what I needed this morning. I definitely will be back for more of the same, as well as to try the açaí bowls and salads.

Yelp
Energize is in a great location in Oak Square in Brighton and with great food and service. I went here with a few friends and I have nothing but great reviews. It was moderately busy, the workers were helpful in explaining the menu, popular items and gave the opportunity to alter whatever we liked. Like all juice, smoothie, and acid bowl places it is on the pricier end but well worth it. They have a variety of bowls, smoothies, juices, and make your own salad bowl. The vibe in the store is modern and welcoming and has plenty of seating space. I got an açaí bowl which was moderately sized but very filling. The only downfall is the parking. There's only street parking and it can be tough to find a spot at times. Overall I would highly recommend for a quick bite to refuel after a workout.
google avatar

Anna F.

Yelp
Get the app! It's so convenient! I go on a long run and then order a smoothie for pick-up on the app, and pay using Apple Pay. The Caribbean smoothie is delicious. Perfect blend of mango and other tropical, warm tasting, and refreshing, ingredients.
google avatar

Lauren H.

Yelp
Small clean smoothie and healthy-focused eating shop in Oak Square. The service is friendly and quick and they have options for everyone, along with options to add/customize your order. I got the regular Acai bowl which was so delicious. It came beautifully presented with bananas, strawberries, and granola. The Acai base was a good texture and consistency. Pricing is what you would expect at a juice shop, pricey, but oh well. I do like how you can order on Yelp and it looks like they deliver on Yelp as well, which would be great as I may be placing some orders from work here in the future.
google avatar

Rita C.

Yelp
I'm so in love with this place. They provide all fresh ingredients. So far I love their mass health juice and Longevity. The taste is so perfectly mix of veggies and fruits. A lot of people said they yogurt is good too. I will try next time!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing Amazing Amazing Absolutely love this place from the first day that I went here, people who working here are nice, Finally healthy option in Brighton besides Whole Foods , They working hard and earn my respect, price is low for this type of products, definitely recommend this place to all my friends
google avatar

Holly Z.

Yelp
This place is amazing! As soon as we went in, I got a really clean vibe from the place. It was very well-decorated, and the employees were delightful! Definitely not a place I can afford to go to regularly, but I'm already thinking about the next time I want to treat myself to one of their bowls! The green matcha bowl was extremely refreshing - would highly recommend. They also have a large selection of juices and smoothies that I'm also dying to try. Just a note that on first glance, the bowls seem really small, and you might begin to regret just paying ~$10 for it, but you can be assured that there's more food in the bowl than it appears!
google avatar

T C.

Yelp
Updated to mention their amazing salads, too! The walnut basil dressing is unique, subtle and perfectly delicious! Also caloric content is now updated under each menu item on the app. Worth every calorie and ever cent! Great ingredients!! Consistenly great preparation! :)
google avatar

Judy T.

Yelp
I wasn't sure what to order but the employees were more than happy to walk me through making a decision. Previous reviews raved about the customer service and I would definitely agree with other Yelpers. I went with the hydrate juice and was extremely pleased. The store interior is nice with plenty of seats. The prices range from $6-$11 for juices and smoothies. There are unlimited customizations and add ons. There is a salad bar and bowls as well. I did forget my wallet once and they take apple/android pay so I was more than happy with a technology savvy juice place. Will definitely stop by again
google avatar

Dahlia I.

Yelp
I wish this place was here when I lived in Brighton 2 years ago!!! They everything from bowls to smoothies to juices and super fresh looking salads. I was between the happiness and longevity and went with longevity and it was delicious!!! Would definitely come back here. Great, friendly staff too.
google avatar

Alicia M.

Yelp
Been here at least three times and it's not bad. I love the detox juice and the energy C one. That is what has been bringing me back over and over. I have tried a power bowl, and the Mediterranean Salad (with chicken instead of Tuna). I am obsessed with the lemon vinaigrette dressing on the Mediterranean salad and thoroughly impressed with the chicken breast that they put on it. It is never dry, and well grilled and sliced in a way that is conducive to eating a salad. I also live that the chicken is warm on the salad because I don't like ice cold food, especially meats. I gave 4 stars because the coffee was significantly underwhelming and I am a coffee lover. I got a salted caramel latte and idk what flavor it actually came out as, but it was not salted caramel. Also the coffee part of it was unimpressive so it was kind of blah. I will definitely be going back and will give another chance to the coffee so I can give stars.
google avatar

Jess L.

Yelp
I love this place so much! It's one of the best juice/smoothie shops I've been to and the staff is excellent. They know me by name now at this point and are always helpful in recommending juices or smoothies that are right for you based on how you're feeling-whether you're sick, fresh from a workout, needing an energy boost, or hungover-they have you completely covered with all vegan & organic fruits, vegetables, and supplements. This shop is the best thing Oak Square has to offer. Also the prices are very fair and reasonable. They offer 16oz and 24oz sizes of the juices and smoothies that range between $6-$12. Additionally they offer a salad bar where you can pick your own ingredients or go with an option off their menu, a pesto tomato sandwich on homemade bread that is soooo good, and 4 smoothie bowl options including a fantastic açaí bowl. Love, love, LOVE energize!!
google avatar

Michael A.

Yelp
Energizing is a very well-managed juice bar restaurant. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The prices are above average but I believe are fair for the quality of food and ingredients which you can get from this Café.
google avatar

Pete D.

Yelp
This is a really great and healthy restaurant. Enjoy their bowls and smoothies. Hope they expand all over the place since their food is delicious. Almost everything is either vegan or can be made vegan friendly by eliminating bee pollen / honey.
google avatar

Winette V.

Yelp
Ladies and gentlemen, I've just found my New York Juice Generation replacement in Brighton. Energize is clean, airy and smells healthy. Drinks and smoothies come at 16 oz or 24 oz. I bought the chocolate joy almond (almond milk, banana, chia seeds, almond butter, agave, cacao, and maca) and you can really taste all of the ingredients. I can't wait to try the other smoothies.
google avatar

Thuy T.

Yelp
Love going to Energize when I need my dose of nutrients from fruits and veggies! My go to place for açaí bowls in Brighton. I always add peanut butter to my bowl and it is delicious and filling. The perfect healthy post workout treat on the weekends. Only downside is that everything is pretty pricey. Parking can also be hard to find sometimes.
google avatar

Khuyen D.

Yelp
If you're looking for something refreshing and quick - this is the spot ! I really love how they have a wide range of different choices from drinks to salads. One of my complaints however would how expensive the salads can be - but it doesn't really seem all that fresh because the Ingredients just looks like it sitting out! Additionally, the smoothies can be just a little bit flat in flavor!
google avatar

Simeon S.

Yelp
I came across this place last Saturday by literally driving by and just seeing a line out the door. I had to pull over and check this place out. They were so busy. I had to wait like 15 minutes only to order. However once I got my smoothie bowl I got an idea why this place was so busy and everyone was willing to wait in line. It was so good .... in fact I have never had anything like it. I only wish the wait time was less but I understand why this place is so popular. Their product is simply out this world.
google avatar

Alexandra K.

Yelp
Severely overpriced. Avocado toast was too salty and green juice was bland. I had also tried their açaí bowl in the past and similarly, it was ridiculously expensive and much less tasty that the acai Ive had at other smoothie places/ or brazilian stores. Definitely do not recommend.
google avatar

Cecelia F.

Yelp
This is my first time here and I'll definitely be back. Amazing, healthy, large salads. I had the Super Food Salad and it's the best salad I've had in a long time. The dressing is homemade, as well as the thick delicious brown bread that accompanies it. Very helpful, friendly staff. Looking forward to trying the açaí bowl!

Kevin W.

Yelp
Great atmoshpere with outstanding salads! Always a pleasure to come over and have a bite in here.
google avatar

Arto D.

Yelp
I've even going to energize for quite some time. I feel so good and energetic after a fresh bowl or smoothie every time. My usual is the green monster with a slice of ginger but here and there I explore their other tasty concoctions. The bowls are also delicious like the cashew cheesecake sprinkled with chia seeds and strawberries. Everything on the menu is fantastic. I wish they had a bar on my street I would go twice a day!!
google avatar

Plamen P.

Yelp
Great spot in Brighton, this place is amazing (good atmosphere, positive people, low prices for 100% organic food). All smoothies, juices and salads are so tasty. I definitely recommend Energize!
google avatar

Farrah S.

Yelp
I live steps away from this place, and always go across the street to Fiorella's instead. Finally, I said enough was enough. Gotta get my summah body right. This place is pristine! The inside is always spotless and they only use the freshest ingredients. This review is solely based off of the "Hydrate" juice that I had. This juice was refreshing and all of the flavors balanced really well. Although it is a little pricey, I think the freshness of the ingredients speak for themselves. The front staff was also patient, attentive, and helpful. You can tell that they are happy to help! Since I live so close, I plan to return once I have one of their famous acai bowls.
google avatar

Christine S.

Yelp
I really like the Wellness Juice from Energize. They have really good fresh pressed juices and salads. I'm excited to try the açaí and matcha bowls in the future. Ordering on yelp is extremely convenient and I just run in to grab my food and drink when I'm pressed for time. I will be ordering from here again soon.
google avatar

Two Wise R.

Yelp
This area needs more smoothie and salad places like this! I have been coming here for about 8 months now, sporadically when I am in the mood for a smoothie and am too lazy to make it myself. Their smoothies never disappoint but they are pretty pricey. The bowls also get really expensive if you want to customize your toppings and it's not really worth it sometimes. I recently tried their protein salad and the pesto sandwich. Both were amazing! Highly recommend both of these!! I will be trying their other salads as well but I am sure they're awesome.
google avatar

L D.

Yelp
Great place , service and choices of salads and juices ! Super friendly and knowledgable staff. Highly recommended!
google avatar

arto d.

Yelp
Wow this place is incredible!! Perfect for morning lunch and dinner. Salads way better fresher and more choices than sweet green. The smoothie bowls are so tasty and actually taste better than ice cream. I take my 2 girls there and they gobble up the salads. Absolutely recommend this joint to all, I wish they had a store on my street
google avatar

Natasha S.

Yelp
This place is great! The staff is awesome and the juices/protein shakes are delish! I almost didn't go because I saw the expensive prices on Yelp and they're actually less than half the price in person (not sure why they're advertised so high). Energize is my new favorite health spot in Brighton/Allston!
google avatar

Jessica Y.

Yelp
I remembered coming here the first few weeks it opened and Energize was serving only smoothies and green drinks. Don't get me wrong the green juice I got (I don't remember which one exactly as it has been over a year ago) was made fresh and with care. I'm happy they evolved and soon incorporated acai bowls, healthy sandwiches, etc. in order to cater to a more general population. Brighton-Oak Square is becoming more and more health conscious, which is absolutely amazing. The acai bowl I recently got was amazing and nicely put together with a cute floral fruit design. Also, the customer service was great and the inside is really clean with lots of sunlight during the day.
google avatar

Katherine L.

Yelp
My first acai bowl. It was refreshing and delicious. This is located right across from the YMCA, which makes it a perfect pre(or post)-workout snack. I got the Acai Bowl and I wasn't expecting much but it lives up to expectations. The granola gave it the perfect crunch and you can tell the fruit was ripe and ready to eat because the smoothie wasn't sour at all.

Alysia F.

Yelp
The smoothies and salad was on point ! From Los Angeles and I've been to many places in NE. This place is priced well , very clean and organized. Thank you guys for the amazing service and food !!
