London’s New Restaurant Openings

"Engel is the second spot to open in The Royal Exchange, but it’s nothing like Jang. There’ll be bejewelled burlesque dancers, cocktails named things like ’Skandal’, and an all-day Austrian-German menu that includes charcuterie and an afternoon dessert trolley. If the stacked evening itinerary of jazz and blues is anything to go by, this is Jang’s hard partying little sibling.  " - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

We hosted a networking event at Engel Bar and had a fantastic experience. The venue was stylish and comfortable, perfect for conversations and mingling. The staff were incredibly attentive, supportive, and professional throughout the evening, and the service was seamless even with a large group. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and many guests commented on how much they enjoyed the space. Special thanks to the team and Director Kim, Event manager Jin, Manager Mario for accommodating us and helping make the event run smoothly. Highly recommended for private gatherings, networking events, and any group looking for great service in a beautiful setting!

Had the most wonderful afternoon tea experience at Engel today! The food was absolutely amazing - every dish was beautifully presented and tasted even better than it looked. But what really made our visit special was Deima's exceptional service. She was incredibly attentive throughout, making sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. Her warm, professional approach added so much to the occasion. Highly recommend both the afternoon tea and asking for Deima - she's a credit to the team!

This place now is taking the 1st place in my heart. I was celebrating my birthday there on Saturday and if I would be able to give 10*, I will. The service, the ambiance, the food and one more time the service. I can't wait to be back! I would like to say big thank you to Mario and everyone who looked after me and my friend. You were amazing!

Lovely time at the Engel bar for the Saturday Marlene brunch with live jazz and entertainment. We took the 3 courses meal for £50, food were good and we certainly didn’t feel rushed - ended up staying over 2h enjoying the music and rather cosy December vibes. I had the salmon tartare starter, the roasted sea bass main, and the cheesecake for dessert. Note: you need to be prepared to wait quite a while between dishes at the peak busy time but that is understandable. Our mains unfortunately came out cold and when we sent them back, they sincerely apologized, redid our mains which came promptly, and kept on checking on us afterwards. They also added some free fries and topped up our wine glasses, which was a nice touch. Great service, I will come back. 5* well deserved.

Brilliant location in central London with bank tube on the doorstep. Found wiring the Royal Exchange this bar has live music, food and drink. Service was sporadic with orders missed off and staff unaware of liquor coffee options. Pre-book and pay in advance to get a decent seat and menu options. Very sociable for a small gathering.

Located inside the fantastic Royal exchange on the first floor this bar has fantastic views over atrium (if you get a balcony seat). Went for afternoon tea. Took ages to get seated and served but once food ordered it came quickly. The food was ok although seemed as if it has been siting around for a while. Great ambiance and view and although the service was slow the staff were polite and helpful. Altogether would recommend but make sure you get a balcony seat.

We had an afternoon tea for three at the Engel bar yesterday to celebrate my daughter's 21st Birthday. The staff made our day so special. They had reserved the best seat for us and was very attentive. They constantly checked if we were comfortable and whether we are waiting for long. They even brought us complimentary cocktails while waiting for the food..this type of exemplary service is becoming rare these days so we truly appreciate kind gestures from the manager. When the food arrived it was amazing! We truly enjoyed the day and left the place happy! The restaurant is posh and ambience and aesthetics are truly amazing. If you are visiting make sure you have the best camera with you as the place is a visual treat!
