"A family-run Tufnell Park grocer-turned-vegan daytime café that taps into the growing wave of vegan Ethiopian spots and conversions, offering six to eight wots served as mix-and-match plates (rough price points: £6 for three, £7.50 for four, £9 for five) with a choice of injera or rice. Dishes avoid niter kibbeh, making flavours more approachable for contemporary palates; highlights include spinach and whole green lentils scented with cinnamon and garlic, sweet green beans with onions and yellow pepper, and a standout misir kiki — a brick-red split-lentil stew warm with berbere spices (cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, fenugreek and dried red chillies). Injera here is made with teff and brown rice and is available to buy, and the venue also stages a proper coffee ceremony using heirloom beans from Harrar, Sidamo, Jimma and Yirgacheffe." - James Hansen
"Adding to the small community of East African restaurants in this residential corner of Camden, the newly opened Engocha’s all-vegan stance has proved a novelty. Thanks to the other regional restaurants in the area the food isn’t a complete mystery to most locals hence the immediate popularity.
