Enoclub was full, but we made a Saturday night reservation for the Caffe Umberto upstairs. Seats for Saturday night at most places get reserved for ahead, so don't expect to be able to walk in for dinner on a Saturday night.
They did have a truffle menu where the prices were clearly increased recently due to the increase in white truffle prices (white out numbers on the menu), ranging from €45-50 for pasta, veal, or eggs with truffles.
We ended up sticking with the regular menu since we had eaten a big lunch.
- Prosciutto: a generous portion of prosciutto - no funky gaminess that you get with some of the stuff in the US. It was just a little odd that it was served with Russian salad (potato salad).
- Anchovy with mozzarella: also tomatoes, capers, and olive tapenade. The anchovies were quite salty as expected, but it was good with mozzarella. In the end we had leftover anchovies since they were pretty salty along with the olive tapenade
- Grilled Fassone rump steak: super tender, cooked medium with finishing salt. It came with broccoli raab and roasted potatoes
- Sous vide cod: with black truffles and potato purée. This was under salted for me, but the cod was very tender, and potatoes were very smooth
The wine pours were varied. My favorite was a barbaresco for €8 a pour, but the size was much smaller than the other pours we had for cheaper wines.
Overall, it gave me kind of an American feel - semi open kitchen, wine bar area, sparkling water on tap. In the end, it was clean and the food wasn't bad, and most importantly, we were able to get a reservation last minute for a Saturday night. All the servers seemed to speak some English.
For 2 starters and 2 entrees with 4 glasses of wine (+ water), it was €96.
