For cheeses and cured meats: Caseari Cautero (Piazzetta Pontecorvo) sells and serves cheeses and cured meats mainly from Campania, Abruzzo, Calabria, and beyond. Proprietor Salvatore Cautero is a fourth generation food purveyor–the family was in the stockfish business–and just last month transformed part of his retail space into a small dining room with a large communal table surrounded by wine bottles, as well as some outdoor seating overlooking the Neapolitan theatrical performance that is Via Rosa.

Went there for some quick Aperol Spritz. Barmaid was amazing. Very informative and friendly. Price was good as well. 6€ for a large Spritz but they didn't have cup to go. No big deal.

Salvatore is an amazing host! Must do when in Naples! Highly recommend to stop for one (or more) glasses of Champagne and bring some space fpr nibbles - he’s got some treats!

It is out first time in Naples and we stay close to this place. Walking next to it for the accomodation got our attention, it looked very nice, so we wanted to give it a try. Went in and asked for the menu (this should have been out first clue), and there was none. We were asked if we want wine or champagne, we opted for the first one. Then the guy asked what kind of cheese we want, so we came for a closer look... everything looked so different, not everything had a price and for sure it wasn't a restaurant, so I've asked about the concept: he said it was special and it went on four generations... still haven't heard the concept, just made a guess after the tasting: 2 glasses of wine, some cheese (creamy fresh, 2 slices, very nice cheese), some hard cheese (also 2 slices) and 4 slices of special pig salami: 22 eur. Don't get me wrong, I've felt special walking in and being treated to the nice cheese. But next time, I would like to see all the prices and know the entire concept.

I found this place after searching online for places to buy legitimately good olive oil in Naples—they do sell olive oil, but the Campania olive oil was out when we visited in June. I’m so glad we did, though, because the wine and the cheese was AMAZING. We wandered in around 6 or 7 on a Friday evening, and asked if we could get “wine and cheese”—he asked us how many cheeses, we said two, not wanting to go overboard. We were served a really interesting local white wine from Carputo, and two soft cheeses that paired well with it. Some of the wine I’ve gotten in Rome and Naples has been quite bad—this was good, as was the cheese! He didn’t speak enough english to give us a ton of background, but every night we were there we thought about going back—it was that good. It was 20 euro for two glasses of wine and two cheese, but well worth it.

I know that it’s not really conventional to drink champagne in Italy but we did enjoy this place much.
