A friend recommended this spot, and I’m glad they did—places like this don’t usually show up in top-ten lists, but they should. Tucked down a quiet side street in Florence, Enoteca Alla Sosta Dei Papi offers the kind of relaxed, confident atmosphere that only comes from doing things right for a long time.
The selection is excellent. A wide range of wines by the glass—nothing overpriced, nothing pretentious. You can trust the staff to steer you in the right direction, whether you know your grapes or just want something that tastes good. Their enthusiasm is genuine, and their knowledge runs deep, without ever feeling pushy or rehearsed.
The food is exactly what wine wants: cured meats, aged cheeses, crispy crostini, and a few warm, salty bites like coccoli with stracchino and prosciutto that could win anyone over. Everything is simple, rustic, and just right.
The room buzzes with conversation. Locals chat with ease, travelers lean in a little closer, and the vibe is welcoming from the second you walk in. Even when it's full—and it often is—it never feels chaotic or cold.
This isn’t just a good wine bar. It’s the kind of place you tell your friends about afterward—just like someone told me.
