My Honest Review: Enoteca La Torre in Rome
First Impressions:
The restaurant sits in an old 1800s mansion that looks unrestored inside. That was a red flag right off the bat.
The Food:
From the start, it was disappointing. The amuse-bouche was oxidized and clearly not fresh. The langoustine dish smelled old—fresh seafood should never smell. The cod was infused with lavender and tasted like soap, which was just a bad idea. Even the grissini and bread were nothing special—I’ve had much better elsewhere.
The Wine:
The 94-year-old lady from the Fendi family who selects the wines must be out of touch. The first wine in the $200 pairing was garbage, and even the $150 bottle I chose instead was just mediocre.
Overall Experience:
Every single dish was bad. The pasta was total garbage. This was not just a mediocre experience; it was terrible from start to finish. We’ve dined at many Michelin-starred places, and this was by far one of the worst. They don’t deserve their stars at all.
I felt like someone was watching from a camera room and laughing at us, it’s not possible that’s this food is what the Fendi family considers to be good food, it’s simply not possible.
I felt like i was eating at a very mediocre place that was trying really hard.
To add to the insult, this was the only Michelin restaurant among the 10 we visited in this trip that had a dress code :)
If you want a good experiencing Rome, I can tell you what would be so far, Per me and Achili Al parlamento were excellent , even their bistro for lunch time was great. . Good luck out there! !!!
