The 15 Best Restaurants In Palermo 2024

"Enoteca Picone is a historic wine bar in Politeama Libertà that’s been open since 1946, and is full of hard-to-find spirits and exceptional wines. Come for aperitivo hour before dinner across the street at Corona Trattoria and sample small bites of things like seared octopus on a bed of creamy potato velouté or beef tartare with crispy artichokes, and a glass or bottle from their selection of wines from Sicily and beyond. My BnB owner recommended this place to me. At first I wasn’t sure about going a little “out of the way” so to speak, but I am so glad I did! They have such an amazing collection of wine that you’d never ever finish checking it out! The staff were kind and the sommelier speaks perfect English. He gave me perfect recommendations! Most guests were local and seemed familiar with each other as well as the staff, and you know that’s always a good sign if you are looking for a friendly and authentic place for spending a lovely evening while getting to taste local wines.

Not sure how this place had so many great reviews.. we were seriously disappointed. The owner was having a full blown argument on the phone for an hour and we were unable to do a tasting. It’s beautiful inside but the service is unimpressive at best

Wine knowledge and service was fantastic. I asked a number of questions about local wines and the styles I like and the wait person was more than happy to give me recommendations. Every wine was delicious and the cold cuts and cheese platter topped it off! If I lived in that area it would definitely be my local !

Are you looking for a nice wine bar to spend some time with friends? Look no further, Enoteca Picone is the perfect place. We went on a Friday evening with a big group of friends to taste local wines and have some tapas-like food. The place gladly surprised us because of its cozy atmosphere and its great service. They offer a wide variety of wines and drinks, and their food menu is focussed on accompanying wines/drinks. 100% recommended.

We came here for a drink as we noticed it on the street and it looked so good, and didn’t disappoint! They personally selected wine by the glass for us which was delicious and great value. We had a plate of meat and cheese which was so good and the fig jam was incredible. Service was so friendly and we accidentally left a pair of sunglasses here that they kindly looked after for us so we could come and pick up the next day… when we then had even more wine! Best wine bar in Palermo.

Hipster offerings in a traditional setting. What else could you ask for? The staff knows their stuff and are willing to help you find it. Inexpensive for the quality and experience. This and Dal Barone are my two favorite places in all of Palermo.

It’s well known that you need a godfather to get married! In Palermo you always need a godfather no matter what! If you are no one you don’t get service at all, this legendary place so filled with pride that don’t even bother on asking you to order after one hour siting because their friends are in the house! We left without consuming anything because of the poor/absent service. Never go back!

Yelp
We asked several friendly locals, and our favorite waiter, where we should go to get an informed, broad, sample of Sicilian wines. All agreed on Enoteca Picone. It is easy to see why. The size, selection and the staff's dedication to information sharing, when desired, as well as astutely judging the match between wine and the level of sophistication of the customer's palate, sets this as a must visit for those who want to increase their knowledge of wine in general and Sicilian wines in particular. We walked from our hotel near Piazza Verdi in 15 minutes and walked into the entryway that seems like any other small wine bar. After we explained what we wanted, we were shown to a very large 45' (15m.) long L shaped tasting area with 15-18 small elevated tables with two stools and two side tables at each place. The outside of the room is lined with fully stocked, floor to ceiling wine racks divided first by region and then by varietal. We asked for a primer on whites and started with 2 glasses of a carricante, an ancient Sicilian strain grown on Etna. We had sampled a cataratto earlier which seems to be the major white wing grape of the region and this had much more acid but pleasing citrus that compared most closely to a Sauvignon Blanc in our experience. We then tried an entry level nero d'avola, the major Sicilan red, that compared to Syrah and another red that was very harsh by comparison and so, unfortunately, forgettable. Service was knowledgeable, attentive, provided in English and Italian and the original 4 oz. (120 ml.) pours were toned down to 2 oz. (60 ml.) at our request so we could walk back. The total for 2 larger pours and 2 smaller ones was 12E. For an impromptu beginning tasting this was just what we wanted and we will go back for a second flight.

Yelp
Best place in town to try good Sicilian wine. It closes early so get there early. They serve some food, but it is also a good place to stop by before or after dinner. The last star is missing because the red wine was served a bit too warm.
