12 Historic European Spas and Bathhouses for a Wellness Getaway | Condé Nast Traveler

"You’d be hard pressed to pass through Mariánské Lázně, recognized in 2021 as one of 11 Great Spa Towns in Europe by UNESCO World Heritage Site , and not be tempted to experience its lauded spa culture. Mineral springs—the town has 100—form the backbone of Nové Lázně , where elite members of society have been going since the early 19th century. The Roman bath area of the hotel spa includes a steam room, sauna, cold plunge pool for an endorphin rush, foot rock pools to comfort weary feet, a whirlpool, and large pools for leisurely swimming and floating. Book a mud wrap or massage and succumb to the spa’s magical aura." - Stacey Lastoe

Excellent hotel with excellent medical treatment. Thanks to management for such a professional staff. Especially want to mention our waitress Julia, she worked very fast, very professional, dirty dishes on our table were gone literally in minutes, she is the best. Our massager Koutecka J. was excellent, I felt rejuvenating after her professional work. Our maid Veronika kept our room in such a clean and a good order that we felt ourselves like in really 5 stars hotel. Also special thanks to the reservation department under management of Ostap Makarchuk who reserved for us room that we asked. We liked restaurant and treatments. All in all hotel deserves 5 stars. The only minor wish is to replace the old TVs in the room with the smart TVs.

This is an iconic old style Spa hotel.|Perfect for those who go to enjoy the indulgence of the spa, relaxing, and various treatments.|We spent 3 days over Christmas and were very happy.|Rooms were large and well maintained.|Beds were soft...|Food was outstanding. We enjoyed the Christmas Eve buffet and Christmas night buffet which were both plentiful but also great due to the very good choices available. The Christmas Eve turkey was outstanding.|Breakfasts were excellent|Staff were 1st class.|Wonderful stay and we would recommend without hesitation.||Only negative.Parking can be tight during periods of high occupancy.

We traveled from the United States to visit the spa and it was a far from pleasant experience. The water in the Spa pool was cold and not comfortable also the water in the bubble spa (jacuzzi) was cold! Staff didn't seem very pleasant or welcoming. We were to be in the spa for 3 hours but ended up leaving after 1 1/2 hours because it was not what we expected. We went to tell the staff at the front desk about our displeasure and she didn't seem to care at all. Do yourself a favor and book at a different spa as they only care about taking your money and not giving a pleasurable experience. 1

My visit was absolutely unsatisfying, we came to experience the bath which water in every pool was cold, jacuzzi had bottom jets uncomfortably cold water , Hot spring bath both pools had could water and one of the massage pool was so could that we couldn’t even go in there ,steam sauna was out of order When I went to notified staff about all the issues they just ignored me and didn’t even apologize and didn’t offer any compensation. Very unprofessional There excuse was that the other hotels having even colder waters like that it’s good business So if you pay 30000 Kč for week spa its ok that you cant enjoy the spa because oh well the water is cold while the Maine reason why you come here in first place is the mineral water bath.

Excellent experience. I gave 4 stars for service because the level depends on the specific person from the staff you meet. The qualifications of several people confirm that you are in a 5 star hotel. The lady - the restaurant manager, Filip at the reception, the waitress Julia, Ostap from the sales department - any hotel can be proud of these employees.

The treatments are quite good and the therapist are very friendly. The room is ok and the bathroom is quite new, but the room is very dark furnished. The food in the restaurant is disappointing and there is no creativity. This is the same for breakfast and dinner. Most of the service people in the restaurant are very nice and friendly, but some few are not which results in a very negative impression in total.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in October 2024. Very impressive hotel with excellent restaurant and medical treatment. Especially we would like to mention our waitress Julia, who is very friendly and professional, our maid Veronica who made our room immaculately clean, our massager Koutecka J. who is very good and made us feel rejuvenating, our mud application girl Mikaela Vitkova who treated our low back in such a way that we feel now much younger, Zdenka Plevova our electric procedure girl who is very professional and treated us very well. Also special thanks to reservation department under Ostap Makarchuk management who reserved for us room we requested. Thank you to all hotel staff!

my husband and I recently stayed for 2 weeks at this fabulous hotel with intensive treatment option and full board. It was our 1st time in this place and we flew over the ocean to enjoy it and indeed, we enjoyed our stay and treatment immensly! Staff is amazing, especially Manager Filip at the reception, he is definitely worth a promotion! He is so friendly, helpful and has a very nice personality! Also waitresses at the retaurant- Matia and Olga deserve a compliment for sure! Very nice service all the time! Antonina at the spa reception does a great job too! Once a week they have a live music in the bar, need to book the seats in advance||As for the treatment itself-they have fabulous facilities and everything is well organized. We included all we could get as well paid extra for creosauna. It was our first time using it and we found it quite refreshing.|The accomodations we got was Junior suite facing the garden and we found it very nice and useful. The windows can be open in each room and we had a balcony too.||my only complaint is the hours of operation of sauna and steam room as well roman baths-they close them at 9 pm which we find very early as it is impossible to enjoy them right after the full dinner . If they can extend it to 10 pm -would be a much better option. Also temperature of the water in jacuzzi is very low-quite cold, not even warm! |other than than -its was a very pleasant stay and we would definitely recommend it!||Bring a couple of metal water bottles with you as you will need to get different types of mineral water each day and having bottles really helps. Parking in front of the hotel is free but limited. We arrived in the mid of April when it was not that busy.
