ENSUI SUSHI

Our first time here and everything was delicious. We started with the cucumber salad and miso soup, and kept going with appetizers and small plates to share…spring rolls, coconut shrimp, California roll, and the veggie roll. All very good and with excellent service.

Super good food and service. They have lots of unique dishes and gobs of options of rolls without artificial crab. Yay!

Such an amazing 🤩 awesome quality sushi. The presentation and choices are great. They offer a variety of mixed combination of sashimi and rolls choices. Highly recommend.

Ramen and oysters (10 for $18) were quite good. The sushi roll we shared was very good.

Group effort I would say. Victor, Luis, Matt, Nick ; Individually and as a group create a fabulous stress-free location. The smiles are contagious. They don't just want you as a return customer but as a friend should you return. I don't know why you wouldn't. My Sashimi was incredibly fresh. Garnished beautifully both to the eyes and palette. The ponzu was verified as home-made from scratch. I could taste each savory herb 🌿 . Dangerously addicting! Best I ever had. Coming from someone who has worked at some of the best sushi bars in my college years. The lemon cilantro roll... again taste each herb! And you know those sliced oranges to finish your meal that so many never touch... WOW like nothing I've tasted before! Fabulous 👌. The food was so great for the 1st time in 25 yrs I forgot to order Sakki. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ Kanpai

I don't consider myself to be a connoisseur of sushi, but I've had lots of sushi. I've been all over North America and I have sushi in every city I go to. This is without a doubt the worst sushi I've had anywhere. I had the spicy salmon roll and the Spider roll. The Spicy salmon roll had an overwhelming pickled flavor, which really didn't work for it at all. Not to mention there was nothing in the roll description mentioning something pickled as an ingredient. The crab in the spider roll was way too heavily breaded. I'm not sure if it was even tempura, and it was overdone to the point where it was hard, dry and tasteless. All the rolls were too loose and fell apart. As for the service, I really don't think our server really even cared that we were there. He wasn't at all personable, just dropping off our order in a hurry. When the place got busy, he just abandoned us completely We eventually got sick of waiting and got another server so we could pay. By then we just wanted to get out of there anyway. Finally, they definitely need to hire more staff because once it got busy at all, the two servers they had on we're immediately overwhelmed.

Staff was super friendly and the sushi was ample and delicious. We had sashimi, mochi and spiny tuna rolls. All great. We will be back!

Takeout. The order was incomplete. Very small rolls compared to other sushi places. Tuna Nigiri was uneatable. Bad quality. Won't order from this place again.

Visited with some friends after a competition and were had some delicious food. I ordered a no rice roll and it was soo good. The rolls are pretty big, the kids had salmon and chicken tenders with rice. Also ordered miso, it had lots of mushrooms and not tofu. Staff was friendly and we were greeted and seated upon entry. Inside was clean and food came out quickly. Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to snap pics of the food before it was devoured. We would come back here again.

Not my favorite sushi quality. We are fortunate to live closer to better quality options. We were visiting in the area and were in the mood for sushi. We Ordered rainbow roll, Solana Beach, Super sexy and sushi burrito. Our favorite was the super sexy. The portions were just okay. The order was available for pick up as promised.

Went in for lunch and pretty much had the place to ourselves. Service was outstanding, the sushi very fresh and delectable! We tried a few rolls and all were very flavorful, fresh and tasted amazing! Very modern feel to the restaurant. There is a cute outdoor patio in the front as well. Parking is super easy and there's plenty of spots available. We will definitely be back to try more rolls and the friendly service!

If you haven't been to Ensui Sushi yet, drop everything and go! My wife and I were greeted by three friendly staff members, and the service was lightning-fast The ambiance was super nice and spacious, with plenty of seating options whether you want to sit at the bar, a regular table, or even outside. It's the perfect spot to relax and enjoy your meal. The food? Beyond amazing. We started with the 10-oyster platter, followed by the fresh and delicious Ensui roll, chef's special sashimi, and a crispy tempura roll. The flavors were top-notch, and the prices? Totally reasonable for this level of quality. I'm already counting down the days until we can go back. Sushi lovers, this is your dream spot!

Came here because I saw really good reviews and wanted to try something new. I will say, we were greeted right away and sat immediately. Service throughout was spot on. Even a floor manager came to check on us. We ordered 2 sashimis, collar, spicy tuna roll, a signature roll. Here's where I lost it a bit. Sashimi was huge. Big cuts of fish. It was a lot. The food overall was...6/10. But service was 10/10. Atmosphere was 8/10. I am a hard critic. So take this lightly. Enjoy.

We love Ensui. Frank and the entire team are great! Rolls are interesting, they also have noodles and interesting apps.

This place is awesome. The Magic Mike roll and the Solana Beach roll were outstanding. I would go here a lot. Great place. Great service. Went here before going to The Sound. Great place close to everything.

They used to have such a great happy hour here before covid we used to come all the time but they got rid of it and the place just doesn't seem to be as busy now. I would say it's just okay and it's probably a place that I wouldn't make as a regular spot again. The sushi is okay nothing amazing yet not bad. They definitely have a handful of regulars at the bar. But I think they're on Old School happy hour prices.

Not much flavor to the rice or wasabi, pretty basic but decent sizes . Nice staff and fast takeout service

3/5 because Food was ok but service was slow. We got the miso soup, tuna tataki, Japanese Hokkaido roll, shishito pepper roll and the black widow roll. Best food was the soup. I enjoyed that. Next best was Hokkaido. It was tasty and tender. The rest of the rolls were kinda bland, with the best being the shishito pepper roll because of its uniqueness. Service was slow. The staff was very occupied trying to sit a larger group so sat around without water for a good minute. Our server was also straight to business with us but overly chatty with the table behind us. 3/5

Everything we ordered was fresh & amazing. They had no problem making slight changes to our food items that we requested. Severs were always available and food came out quick. Plenty of space inside and out (we sat outside). Didn't even have a chance to take pictures of our food because everything looked and smelled so delicious that we dug right in. Highly recommend this spot!!

This has become my favorite sushi place. The Ahi Nachos are a fan favorite and a must try! The ceviche roll and Magic Mike rolls are delicious. They have large portions and everything is super fresh.

Parking was easy. Was easy to walk in and get a table on a Friday night. Sitting at the sushi bar doesn't let you really watch the sushi chefs at work because the height of the counters. The floor was wet and slippery beneath me where I was seated at the bar...kinda dangerous. The good: Shumaker had the delicious sauce, the mountain of ginger they give to each person, the presentation of the seaweed salad to look like a sundae. I didn't love that the black widow roll had fried soft shell crab. It tasted good, but it didn't taste much like fish because of the unexpected tempera. I would try something else next time. Good music and I liked they had muted sports games on tv.

So while the sushi was decent, the atmosphere of this place could be improved. The primary issue for us was the lighting - it's all fluorescent lightning and makes the place seem rather 'cold'. I think for that reason alone, we would rather go somewhere else. Nothing against the service though, the servers were all great and friendly. Maybe if we were to go again, we would sit outside as there were tables there.

Mediocre sushi at best. I ordered a veggie roll with sweet potato tempura and they sent me a roll with nothing but soggy sweet potato fries in it. All of their rolls start to taste the same with too much eel sauce or spicy mayo. Def. not worth the money.

The food was good, and the service was decent. The serving of rainbow sashimi salad is really for two people. I was there for dinner with friends and had a lovely time. My only gripe is that I left the restaurant, forgetting my leftover box on the table, and when I came back within five minutes, they had reset the table and thrown away the box I had forgotten. I was standing outside the restaurant talking, so it would have been nice if the staff had come out immediately to check if I was still nearby.

We made it in time for happy hour and hands down the best sushi rolls we have ever had !! We got super sexy, Del Mar , Solana beach and Magic Mike . We all agreed the Solana beach roll was the best. We recommended 10/10 . Resturant also clean and service was great .

Lots of delicious rolls to choose from. The sushi chef was very accommodating to make some changes because I don't like spicy fish or sauces. The food came out very fast. The service was good and the ambience is very nice. Lillian ( the owner) and her son Brandon were very friendly and nice. This is my new sushi restaurant I'm so happy we found it.

I love their food. It never disappoints. I like that they always have good playlists in the background, have TVs if there is a good game, and their servers and the sushi chefs are the bomb! My favorite is the spicy yellowtail hand roll, and their premium sushi sampler!

Ensui is a great local spot - our work team regularly gets lunch sampling their excellent Sushi specialty rolls - try the Dragon and Caterpillar especially. Also excellent crispy rice and tempura, Ramen soup and more. Good service and reasonable prices. Location is also convenient if you're in Flower Hill /Via de la Valle and surrounds

Really top quality and fresh sushi. I highly recommend their Ensui Roll. It's a slightly spicy, but perfectly balanced, savory roll. The sauce that comes with it is rich and flavorful. All of the rolls were amazing and well made. If you haven't had toro before, I also recommend their sampler. It's a great way to taste a high quality slice of fish.

went for lunch and ordered the chicken karage and salmon skin roll. The chicken karage was yummy and tender. the salmon skin roll was a bit dry and lacked flavor. the waitress was nice and attentive. the ambiance is dark, and the tables are close. we could easily hear the conversation being said next to us, so not a lot of privacy. pricey, but they give you more than the standard 8 piece roll. overall, it was okay.

Can only vouch for takeout. Overcooked sushi rice. Undercooked sweet potatoes (still has a crunch). Would not come back.

We had take out so I can't speak for the brick and mortar aspect. The food was spot on just what you want when you say sushi for dinner. The price was a little steep but probably fits the area which is something I'm not knowledgeable on. The rolls flavors were well paired and the calamari was exactly what fulfills cravings.

Went back another couple of times, and the problem for me is the inconsistency. The only thing that is consistency really good is the Toro. However, when it comes to the rolls one week a roll can be outstanding, another week it can be good, and on another week it can be meh. If they could get their rolls to have a more consistent flavor I'd put it back up to 4 stars, and I'd become a regular customer as I live so close by. But for now, it is just going to be a place I come to on rare occasion, and will instead opt for a further drive north or south.

The environment in this place is very welcoming and super cute for a date night. It is also kid friendly so it fits all environment. I was impressed from the get go with the timeliness of service and the speed we received our food. The miso was full of goodies and was very tasty. The mushrooms were very fresh and a pleasant surprise. The edamame was well really well seasoned and had the perfect Asian zest. Lastly, the roll was incredible fresh and refreshing. I will absolutely go back to this place in the future.

Ensui Sushi is one of the finer establishments and I've had the luxury to dine at this top notched restaurant with a good friend earlier today after having heard so many great stories about it from my circle of Yelp Elite friends. The Yelp Elite squad did not disappoint! Top of my must-have list was the Spicy Magic Mike. Not gonna lie, it was drawn to it by the name and the appearance of the roll. It's a rice-free roll that consisted of spicy crab, shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, and cucumber wrapped in soy paper and topped with avocado, chopped tuna, lemon slices, minced cilantro & jalapeño, habanero flakes, and spicy ponzu sauce. This dish was beautifully executed! The attention to detail and flavor profile were impeccable! This sexy roll is guaranteed to satisfy your tastebuds and leave you in awe! Definitely definitely order this roll! OMG, it was a teaser and a pleaser! This was our favorite item. Second favorite were the Salmon Belly Sashimi. We were rather pleased by the thick and long cut--each piece was a very generous portion curled up, so when we unraveled it, we pleasantly discovered the generous serving! It was so smooth and creamy, it melted in our mouths! Soooooooooooo fresh! Our third favorite was the Yellowtail Collar. This was my first time having Yellowtail Collar and I absolutely loved it! It was perfectly grilled and the flesh was so tender and juicy. Based on its appearance, I thought it might be dry, but it was anything but dry! The meat was sweet and very moist. Truly delicious and a must try for those of you who have never tried this before! We also ordered one of the daily specials, the Premium Sushi Sampler, that originally consisted one each of the Toro, Bluefin, Uni, Halibut, and King Salmon. They actually ran out of Uni, so we got 2 pieces of Toro, which worked out better, because we would rather have Toro instead of Uni. Of the selections provided, the Toro was our favorite! All of the sushi were incredibly fresh! We got a few appetizers too, the Crispy Rice and the Calamari. The Crispy Rice was deep fried sushi rice topped with spicy tuna, sliced serrano peppers, and eel sauce. It was flavorful, but the big piece was a bit hard to eat. If you like a nice crunch, then order this appetizer. The Calamari was also really good. We were very surprised that the outer shell remained crunchy throughout our meal and not a single piece got soft or soggy. They take their crunch seriously! I have to also point out that my roasted green tea was freshly brewed. At most restaurants when you order iced green tea, they bring out a glass of the tea. Here, they bring out a fresh pot of hot roasted green tea (with the fresh tea leaves and roasted rice), and a separate glass of ice. Once the tea is brewed to your satisfaction, it is then added to the ice. The flavor is fresh and strong. Wow, now that was refreshing! We had such a lovely dining experience and will definitely be coming back soon! Additionally, I organize a ladies group on MeetUp, so Ensui Sushi will for sure be on my list of restaurants to introduce to my group! I was beyond impressed with the food and the service! Our amazing waiter, Matthew, was very attentive and provided exceptional service! Thank you for your patience while we took our time to scope out the menu!

Stoped by for sushi after my son's game. Food was delicious and fresh. Staff was prompt and service as well.

Average ok sushi in a sports bar vibe. Coconut shrimp was way breaded almost tasted tough to chew.

My friend and I were in Solana beach, heading back to La Jolla, stopped by Ensui for lunch based on Yelp reviews. We sat at the sushi bar. The place is small, decorated nicely, quit an extensive menu. Our server Frank, came over to take out order of drinks and sushi, oddly not writing any thing down but verbally relaying our order to the sushi chef. I asked the chef if they had Uni (Sea Urchin) which they did, I asked what the MP was and was told $15-$16 per order, I added 1 order onto our order. We ordered: 1 Yellowtail Tiradito and Protein Roll, 2 orders of Salmon Nigiri, 1 order of Sea Urchin Nigiri, 1 order of Fresh Water Eel Nigiri and 2 orders of a Spicy Tuna Handroll. When the sushi was being handed to us, there was Yellowtail Nigiri which we did not order, lost in translation from Frank to the sushi chefs it was suppose to be the Yellowtail Roll. The sushi chef quickly wanted our plate back took off the yellow tail and handed the rest to us. Honestly bad business practice. They should of said "our mistake, enjoy the order of Yellowtail on us and hope to see you again." Quit frankly you place the order in front of us and take it back, standard health code: you can't serve it to someone else, it should be thrown away. Second note: when we got our bill the Uni was $18 per order, again I was given the wrong market price the sushi chef should of known. I will say though, all the sushi and rolls tasted very good, fresh and the presentation, very nice.

Really good sushi for a pretty decent price. Left beyond full but belly was happy. ONLY hiccup; we had to keep asking for water. Other than that will definitely be back and would recommend!!

Conveniently located off the 5 fwy in a strip mall plaza next to Gelsons. Fairly small. We came on a Sunday around 5PM no one was there but they told us we needed reservations for table seating which I was surprised coz it hardly became full. Although the server/waitress kindly made accommodations and got us seated right away Overall pretty extensive menu. So many to choose from sushis sashimi Ramen or udon. Impressive appetizer menu. We tried the vegetable and shrimp tempura this was prolly my least favorite. It came undercooked. We also had the TNT green mussels which was delicious however it only came with 2 per serving. Our fave appetizer have to be the yellowtail collar. Perfectly cooked/grilled. As far as sushi Here's how we ranked our rolls 1. Dynamite roll 2. Da Bomb roll 3. Ensui roll 4. Dragon roll 5. OMG roll The serving sizes of the roll is proportional. Although surprise how expensive some of the rolls can be. Range from $12-$20. Overall enjoyed our meal here

One of the best sushi restaurants in San Diego, and hands down the top spot in North County. I highly recommend the salmon sashimi and the yellowtail from Spain--both are exceptional. The staff and ownership are warm, welcoming, and truly make the experience unforgettable.

This is one of my favorite places to get quality raw fish. The Kama is always cooked to perfection also. Service is fast and friendly. Yes, there are many sushi places that give extensive combos for sushi rolls. While ENSUI does not have a Cheesecake Factory size of a menu, their raw fish is perfect. I like any of the sushi rolls that do not have any cooked ingredients!

Team here after looking at the reviews on yelp me and my granddaughter were staying in Sonoma Beach and wanted some sushi. This place did not disappoint. Everything was so delicious. Service was on point. We went on a Thursday night which was I'm assuming a better night to go because I'm sure on Fridays and the weekend it probably gets pretty packed Due to the great variety of fresh food will definitely visit again. Loved the music playing and the ambiance was great too

Pricey but the content is worthy. I ordered two of their special rolls that may have broken the bank a bit but they did not go easy on the meats. The sushi was jam packed with fish and toppings making the two sushi rolls filling and worthy. We had this to go and it was still really good.

We ordered miso soup, crunchy roll,& dragun roll. It was good. I was thrown off with the mushroom included to the miso soup but it was good.

Terrible customer service especially that server named Nicolas Bo. Absolutely not friendly nor courteous! Ordered Tempura Udon and requested garnish & vegetables to be separated for my picky toddlers and gave this judgmental look and said "it's just broth and noodles" as if my husband and I don't know its lineup (and according to menu read). It arrived ofc with scallions, seaweeds, and fish cakes! Never offered water nor any initiative to refill until he came back to our table and had to mention the obvious. Nothing special on our ordered sushi (mango salmon & del mar roll), but it filled us for our failed carnival attempt Also heard from my husband how disgusting their restroom-- that he had to carry our son in order to relieve himself without getting soiled. Regret choosing this restaurant when typed keyword 'sushi' within Del Mar fairgrounds area. Don't plan on coming back here and DON'T RECOMMEND this "4.5 starred" sushi place! I shouldn't have left any tip (modified [refer to pic]; still gave him benefit of the doubt after his attitude & quality of service) at all and would very much like to have that refunded!

Ensui is our favorite neighborhood sushi spot that always provides quick service, quality food and a nice overall experience. I absolutely loved the shishito pepper roll - it is really unique and tastes amazing

Ordered Las Vegas, Moonlight and Dragon rolls. Tasted great. Service not so much - table and seats were not very clean (had to remove crumbs before sitting), ordered large beer (server came back saying they had run out, next I said draft they said we have issues with the machine, last he offered a small beer and explained how small it will be :) and then said that's 2 dollars cheaper than the large (who would have guessed that). Once again no complaints with the food, service- they need to buckle up.

The best sushi, super friendly staff. Very clean. Chef made a special sushi for us which was super fresh and to die for. Highly recommend this place to any sushi lover or even ppl who don't like sushi. They have options for everyone

Super yummy miso. The cucumber salad was nicely marinated, the creamy tuna tacos were good! I was also content with my roll.
