We went for the 10 course Rajasthani regional menu, and it was the best fine dining Indian meal we have had - we’re an Indian Aussie family who have travelled around the world (and dined at all of Melbourne’s institutions). The flavour palate was complex yet clean, and true fusion Indian cuisine - didn’t seem forced. The service was intimate and personal. The daal baati and thali were highlights, as were all the other courses. Just the type of place that you would take someone to impress. Kudos Helly - we should have visited sooner!

We went for the 10 course meal and were here to celebrate a special day, but honestly, it wasn’t worth the $200+ per person price. Overall, everything felt just “okay”, and at times, below okay. The staff were polite and explained the dishes well, and the ambiance was decent, but nothing particularly memorable. For a fine dining restaurant at this price point, you expect much more. We weren’t even given water for quite a while and had to ask, which set the tone for the service Service was quite slow, and the food overall was underwhelming. The lamb cutlet was good, but the main course (rice and pork) was below average and extremely dry. The chef was also not present. From my experience, especially in smaller fine dining restaurants, the chef often makes an effort to greet guests — a small touch that would have made the experience feel more personal. At this price, you really expect a better experience. Sorry to say, but it didn’t live up to expectations.

My partner surprised me with a birthday dinner at Enter Via Laundry, a place we had heard quite a bit about. The ambience was quaint, cozy and the staff were courteous and attentive throughout the evening. Although welcoming the guests on arrival will make a difference. However, when it came to the food—particularly the vegetarian offerings—it fell short of expectations. As a vegetarian, I was hoping for a thoughtful and flavorful experience, but the portion sizes were underwhelming and the options quite limited. The jackfruit curry with rice was especially disappointing, both in taste and quantity. For a concept-driven dining experience, I expected more depth and creativity in the menu. To the EVL team: it's a good effort to create a unique and intimate dining concept. But to truly resonate with a broader audience—especially as the vegetarian community grows—it might be time to revisit the menu. More satisfying, diverse, and delicious vegetarian dishes, paired with generous portions, could really elevate the overall experience and encourage repeat visits. With the current experience, would I visit again for the price of $122 pp for a 5-course meal? Probably not.

Not worth the price. We have travelled through India and understand how diverse, flavourful and impactful it can be. Unfortunately it feels like the love has left and her heart is no longer in the food. Barramundi was cooked to oblivion. Felt like they were rationing the sauces that go with their dishes. While the sauces were delicious there just wasn’t enough to enjoy or pull the dish together. Some items arrived lukewarm or cold. Everything was just OK, nothing blew us away which is not good enough for >$200 per person. I had one dietary requirement ( no goat) but still received goat. While they took this seriously and promptly apologised I don’t expect that to happen at this price point. Overall the service and food was lacking finesse, just not equivalent to places in this price bracket.

We celebrated my partner’s birthday at EVL last night and had a wonderful time! The 5-course vegetarian set menu was delicious and the service was warm and friendly. Thank you for adding a candle to his dessert!

If you're looking for an intimate and exceptional experience, Enter Via Laundry is the place to go. Tucked away in Nicholson St in Carlton, this place has a very calm and cosy atmosphere. They take you through a food journey of a cuisine (Parsi) when we visited and explain everything very well. The drinks menu compliments the food and overall this is a great place to celebrate an occasion with your loved ones.

I recently checked out this awesome Indian fine dining restaurant, and I just loved it! We got the set menu and every bite was a win. The place has this cool mix of fancy and chill vibes, making it perfect for any occasion. The service was spot-on, and you could tell they put thought into every little thing. Bonus points for the entrance through the back alley, adding a fun twist to the whole experience. Definitely a go-to for anyone up for a laid-back yet unforgettable dining experience. 🤤
