Exploring Chicago’s suburbs and came upon an arcade in Schaumburg called ENTERRIUM. Located at Woodfield Mall, the arcade has a very balanced setup and selection. Pinball Machines both modern and vintage were the standout to me, but the location also boasted an impressive Japanese arcade collection, modern redemption arcades, and even some classic arcades like Millipede. They also had several skill games, claw games, and an awesome prize center.
All of that would be enough, but they also had a full service bar and restaurant in the center and a surprisingly nice bowling alley to the left of that with a cool overhead reflection that allows you to watch your ball crusie towards the pins from above. Nearby the bowling alley I spotted some pool tables and some really vintage pinball machines from the 70s. Super slick touch!
Now I am all the way from Texas in Chicago and it’s surrounding suburbs are not my home at all. I know enough to know that Chicago actually hosts some of the best arcade in coin-operated destinations in the nation, but a part of me began to wonder how many people live in the Chicagoland area and have never stepped foot into this place and probably have no idea that it exists at all??
I think it’s a safe bet to say that there are people who work within five minutes of this place who don’t even know that any of the stuff is inside! That fascinates me.
The fact of the matter is that every city in America is full of treasures and stories and fascinating places, and things that most people don’t know about at all. I’ll never find all of them, but when I do, I like to write little stories about them here For you to consider.
