Where to Find Pawpaws in NYC | Eater NY
"At the Nature Based headquarters at 113 Wolcott Street near Van Brunt Street in Red Hook, I learned they’re hosting their fourth annual pawpaw sale this weekend (Saturday, October 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday until 4 p.m.). Owner Fred Wolf has unintentionally become one of New York’s main pawpaw purveyors, sourcing fruit from Threefold Farm in Pennsylvania and selling specialty fruit (priced this weekend at $100 for 10 pounds and $80 for makers, seed spreaders, restaurants, brewers, witches, distillers, etc.). Beyond wholesale sales, Nature Based also sells pawpaw trees, plants seeds around the city, and runs the sale as part of a repopulation effort to make this indigenous fruit more accessible to chefs and home cooks." - Emma Orlow
