We've been meaning to make it to Entrecôte since it open, and last night finally did. Wish we had gone sooner!
They don't have a bar license, but their wine menu is good (if you're a Chenin Blanc fan, their Chenin by-the-glass is very good).
We started with the olives, which were standard but nice. The empanadas came next, and they were savory and delicious. We split the ribeye, which was prescient because it was a whopping 14 oz (no bone) - way too much for one person! It was a perfect medium rare, tender, with a smoky char grill that is making my mouth water as I'm typing this. It was served with a red chimichurri that added just the right touch of umami and a hint of heat. It was all that.
With the rib-eye, we ordered the house pickled vegetables. They were the perfect foil for the rich fattiness of the beef. We also got the tomato and onions - very thinly sliced, a whiff of vinegar, also paired perfectly with the steak.
We were so impressed with the entree, we had to try dessert. While the flan was perfectly executed, the dulce de leche crepes, which we had with the last of a Cab/Malbec blend, were an inspiration. On their own, perhaps a little sweet, but eaten while sipping the hearty red... it was bliss!
I don't understand why the restaurant was mostly empty on a Friday night at 7:30 PM. Even in a foodie town like Napa, this is a stand out, already on the list for date night. Go!
