Orion our waiter was awesome and James the manager was nice. Our food was fabulous. Love the scallops, pork belly, and my ceaser salad with glass potato and we ordered the anchovies because I like the dark anchovies. I really can’t remember the history of this building, but the brick was fabulous. You can even see the outlines of where the old window used to be. They had a great deck upstair, plenty of seats with some Misters. I WOULD RECOMMEND

Google
Will not return: they bait-and-switch, and dirty wine glasses. … continue our wine bar hopping. I liked their exposed brick wall, so put this one on hit list. Their Happy hour is 5-6 but oyster runs out by 5:30. Friday, it was empty when we arrived. A short man with eye glasses in the front asked if we’ve a reservation. We didn’t. We were seated immediately. I like curved forks. Their reds are good but the Riedel glasses could use some polish, especially the rim - I've seen many bars use towel to polish their glasses. The tuna poke is wonderful - love the celery.

Google
Really good; I definitely plan on coming back. Overall a nice place without feeling too fancy. Great food, I highly recommend the duck, it was perfect. Pretty good selection of whiskey behind the bar, including a few Japanese ones which can be hard to come by. A bit on the expensive side, but I give it an easy recommendation.

Google
For the price, overall average experience. Feels like it’s trying to be upscale but just missing the mark. Italian wine (Nero?) 3/5. Caesar salad, 2/5, really they should just drop it from the menu. Lobster burger 4/5, tiny bit of lobster but given it probably comes from 1000+ miles away, not bad. Price overall for quality 3/5. I think they could get 4+/5 if they’d just tidy up their menu selections.

Went for a birthday. Great food, service and location. Loved sitting outside (upstairs)

Eolus Bar & Dining is hands down the finest restaurant I've been to in years—possibly ever. Every dish we've tried has been extraordinary, whether it's the crave-worthy happy hour burger, the perfectly executed Surf and Turf, or the unforgettable Duck Two Ways. The flavors are bold, refined, and consistently impressive. The staff are warm, polished, and clearly take pride in delivering top-tier service. While the pricing reflects the quality, it's worth every penny and then some. My wife and I consider Eolus our go-to spot, and we look forward to savoring many more unforgettable meals there in the future.

Google
5 Stars all the way around. Our waitress was very attentive. Made sure we had everything we needed but was also patient when we were deciding which wine to choose. Quiet upscale ambiance. Everything we ordered from the wine to the steak was perfect! My favorite “trick” was that our party of 6’s meals were all placed on the table at the same time by 6 different servers. Way to make a group feel special.

Google
Excellent. Premium food, service, and cocktails. Meets all expectations for an important business dinner, date night, or special occasion. Attention to details, creative food and cocktail offerings...this is one of my favorite restaurants of all my travels. They consistently deliver an A+ experience. Oh, and bonus for being extremely accommodating to my gluten and dairy sensitivities.

Yelp
I just cannot get over it. My wife and I live in Pagosa Springs and driving at night is never a fun task for us in our older gaining years from Durango to Pagosa. That does not stop us from an opportunity to eat at Eolus when we get the opportunity. There is just something about seeing James (the owner) when you walk through the door. The second my wife and I see him we are reassured the food will be incredible and even better the service will be exceptional. We have dined here for several years and the ambiance is that of a 5 start restaurant. They even have these heavy curtains outside the front door to block the cold winter winds, which is a pretty nice touch. Here is why they are top notch. My wife had to fly out for a day trip and was landing at 5pm. I had a reservation for us at 545pm last night. Due to the winter storms and winds in Denver her flight left late. I called and said we would be late, but knowing its a Thursday night getting in after being late would not be likely. They noted my reservation. We did not get there until 645pm and even though it was a pretty full house they said give us just a minute. James walked up and said "right this way". Now, if I can only get him to bring back that delicious cioppino as I joked with him as we were leaving (but not really joking that is one of the best I ever had and I have traveled the world). Every time I leave Eolus I get the thought "If all businesses ran like Eolus where the staff obviously works exceptionally hard every night our economy would be in a much better place"! Thank you James and team for making the value of the experience you offer more than the money I spend. Semper Fidelis!!!

Yelp
I've been to this restaurant through all its metamorphosis, from the original owner to now. Tonight I went for my birthday dinner. The food, and chef who kindly took time to explain his amazing food, and the lovely Heather who served us, made this a beautiful night. WTAF is up with the guy who " greets" us???? He's been there for a while. Nicely dressed man who looks you up and down and makes you feel unwelcome. Asks ridiculous questions to belittle you. It takes the happy edge off every single time. Is he the owners son? Come on dude!!!!

Yelp
Delicious good and amazing customer service- ask for malachai he is the best waiter we have ever had anywhere Cod was amazing

Mark W.

Yelp
Located right in the midst of action, the ambiance was top notch--perfect for a special occasion. For starters I had a Lemon Drop cocktail which was excellent. We shared the hanger steak served rare. It was a minor work of art in its presentation, and tasted as good as it looked. It was accompanied by pavé potatoes, which is menu-speak for a baked stack of thin potato slices. They were actually pretty good. And the whole roasted peppers served as garnish surprisingly added a welcome flavor. I uploaded a photo.

Alison B.

Yelp
We had mixed experience. My husband's food was fabulous (lobster burger) and he would recommend it to anyone and felt it was very reasonably priced for the quality. I had the salmon and the sides were great (especially the mushrooms) but fish was terrible. The fish wasn't fresh and had that fishy (trout like) after taste. The brussel sprouts app was good, but citrus zest was overpowering. Wine list is good and service was very attentive. I appreciated that all the wait staff seem to work in harmony. Ambiance was fine but very loud - so if you struggle in loud places - ask for rooftop instead.

Yelp
Impressive service from Malachi and attention to detail from the GM Eric. Eric placed us at an open table during the dinner service when only reservations were being seated. Eric told us to give him about 45 minutes to sneak us in. We returned at that time and Eric placed us in Malachi's (should be #1 server) section. What a treat. Everything about our meal was excellent. I saw the hangar steak on the menu and just had to try the Chimichurri. Well, not as good as mine, but the plate was fantastic with the 20 layer potatoes smoked tomato jam, blistered shishitos, roasted garlic aioli and THEIR chimichurri. Excellent plate. Beautiful setting. A great spot to splurge on an outing with my wife. If we ever come back to Durango, this will again be a must do. Dicks

Yelp
I rarely write reviews... We Came in from NYC Had dinner here last week and wow this place was simply perfect! We are definitely foodies and can be a tad judgy and we're so impressed . Not only was The service fantastic and the ambiance, upscale, but the food, just so SO great! Every dish was absolutely scrumptiously delicious. It's a must go to.

Hailey W.

Yelp
Don't recommend. Try chimyago or whatever it's called instead. Service is snooty to the max.

Jeanne H.

Yelp
I didn't know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised by the ambiance. I really enjoyed the chicken dish. Service was friendly and relaxed. We will definitely be back next time we visit Durango.

Patty S.

Yelp
This was our favorite restaurant of the trip. The wine list is fantastic, the service is quick and efficient, and there is variety in the types of foods they serve. We had the burrata, the scallops and pork belly and a sushi special as appetizers , of which I would order all again. But the star of the show was that black cod. It has such a subtle and beautiful sauce. We also enjoyed the cherry pie dessert. I wish we had found this place earlier in our trip. It's definitely worth the price tag.

Michael J.

Yelp
Always impressed with this place... As somebody that really appreciates good wine I depend on how knowledgeable the staff is, and how they continually update the wine list to keep it interesting and fresh. Always feel confident in bringing guests here.

Charles

Yelp
Greeted by very classy waiter. Ordered sushi dish. Very second rate. No better than grocery store bought. Wife's beet salad was mostly greens with a few small beet quarters. Took someone 15 seconds to make for $1. Donut dessert was ok. Service was great. Overall, very disappointing after many outstanding dinners at Eolus. Wont be going back any time soon. Not worth $180

Seth K.

Yelp
Cocktails: delicious. Atmosphere: quaint and cozy. Service: top notch. Came here just for two drinks: butter pecan old fashioned and Core Memory. Both phenomenal drinks and the food looks and smells delicious (didn't order any, couldn't tell you how it tasted). Absolutely perfect date night spot.

Kaitlyn J.

Yelp
we recently returned to eolus to celebrate a family birthday and were very disappointed in the service we received. we had a waiter named ryan who was decent at the beginning and then disappeared from the middle of our meal on. so sad to see how the service has declined.

Kimberly S.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant. Amazing food and presentation. we went for the Valentines Day special and were so pleasantly surprised having never been. Food was great, service was more than timely and thoughtful, host staff pleasant and welcoming. Wine pairings on point. We will be back.

Selena W.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of meeting James on December 29,2023. The atmosphere, food, and service were delightful! The selection of entrées were absolutely divine. I live in Montana and travel to New Mexico quite a bit to visit family. My daughter often goes to Durango to ski. This was her second visit, my first, to Eolus. We will definitely be back.

Steve M.

Yelp
Delicious food. You'll pay for it. Quality restaurant. Rooftop dining is cool place to dine.

Tory D.

Yelp
Best fine dining in the four corners area! The, "Duck Two Ways" was one of the best duck plates I've had in over a decade, everything on this dish compliments each other perfectly. Service was great. The seasonal butterscotch Old Fashioned cocktail was our favorite. Also! Highly recommend the pork belly & scallops appetizer.

JoAnn H.

Yelp
The service was excellent. The food is okay. I have to say I was not as impressed as many of the reviews suggested. I had the "special" mushroom soup. I found it to be gritty and not smooth and the truffle oil was all but non-existent. We had several different plates and while the main courses were done well the accompaniments were off course and disjointed. There was one vegetarian plate that was offered. It wasn't something I was interested in, and didnt try it. While checking out the menu prior to dining there it appeared themenu from a year or two ago was much better. New chef? Not sure but I'll choose another dinner establishment next time. For the prices i expected better. On the other hand, the drink menu was small but very good and I would definitely stop in for a drink when in town.

Danielle H.

Yelp
Y'all I want to love this place, and I hope you do...we picked this place for the apps and the cocktail menu, but the food just didn't redeem it further. It seems slightly over priced for the quality and portion size. We got the pork belly and Brussels for apps. Tasty for sure, but felt like we were at a tiny plates resto. We did love the dessert, there was a gluten free chocolate mousse option, yum!

Meagan L.

Yelp
Fantastic food and phenomenal service! This is one of the nicest places you can eat in Durango, and everything is really high quality. You'll be treated very well here, but prepare to pay a high price for it! I don't know that it's quite worth the money you pay, but if you're in the mood to splurge for a nice occasion, give Eolus a try!

Matthew I.

Yelp
This place is special. The attention to detail from both the kitchen, and the staff truly separates this place to a different level. The food is creative, delicate and the staff brings it all together. If you're in Durango go to this place above all others. Thanks James!!

Emily B.

Yelp
We went for dessert and the gluten free donuts (that are made in a gf fryer) were delicious! We sat at the bar and the bartender was exceptional! He made the kids mocktails and special made the perfect drink for my husband and I!

Jennifer P.

Yelp
This is the best fine dining in Durango. James and his team have curated an interesting, creative and delicious menu. My husband and I have been dining here for over a decade. I rarely post reviews, but figured it was time! We have enjoyed every meal in the last 10-12 years and feel the menu and culinary experience are continuing to excite and exceed expectations. The wine list is exceptional and offers plenty of variety (even by the glass). We started with the scallop ceviche, which was scrumptious and unique. My husband had the salmon and I had the warm beet salad and the Tuna (melt in your mouth) Sashimi for dinner. All dishes were amazing and prepared with care. In the past we've had the duck, hanger steak and pork. Can't go wrong. The service is spectacular (request Barney as a waiter). Hats off to this gem of a restaurant.

John J.

Yelp
One of the nicer restaurants in historic Durango in my view. Nice ambiance, great service, and reasonable prices (Cocktails and wine were relatively cheap - Buffalo Trace $10). They have quite an eclectic menu. We began with their special mushroom soup and a Hamachi Volcano Roll. Both delicious. I found the entree section of the menu to be a bit limiting, but we were able to find two choices to our liking and both were great (seared scallops and the Osso Bucco). Both entrees were very big portions, and we could not finish. However, that didn't mean we could not try dessert. The dessert we chose was the night's special. Some aspects of it were good, but I did not care for the toasted marshmallow swirl topping - but this is just my taste, as it was prepared fine and gave the dessert an artistic flare.

Bill R.

Yelp
On the recommendation of our hotel host, we went here while celebrating our wedding anniversary. Ordered two glasses of Napa CA Cabernet (we think Napa has the best Cabs), tow side organic salads and split the pork chop. The Cabs were really good. The salads were great! The walnuts, Gorgonzola and dressing were the perfect combo. The ciabatta bread was ok (not a lot of flavor). The pork was cooked perfect and presented well. It was yummy. The black currant sauce was very good. The mac and cheese was also very good (bacon and jalapeño). We aren't big fans of cooked spinach, but it was also good. Highly recommend. Our server was awesome and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals!

Dan D.

Yelp
Eolus is upscale Durgano dining: the food was awesome & served-up in a mountain-town relaxed environment. My only regret is that I don't get to Durango with more regularity because I'd dine here all the time.

Jimmy N.

Yelp
The ambiance and food is amazing here! Will be returning soon! The management and people are all very kind.

Claudia W.

Yelp
So, I have a bad habit. I usually don't finish my food in a restaurant. Included in pictures of this eatery is a shot of my plate- practically licked clean. This restaurant is amazing. The creative choice of flavors, colors and local produce is so subtle, and so satisfying. If you live in Durango, you probably know this restaurant. But if you are visiting Durango, go there! You will find yourself In the company of discerning locals-all having a deliciously great time.

Gina M.

Yelp
The food and service were fabulous! I had the surf and turf and my husband had the hanger steak. Recommend both!

Kathryn A.

Yelp
This was an amazing restaurant! Our meals were prepared with attention to flavorful additions. It was as advertised, an elegant dining experience.

Randy C.

Yelp
Amazing dining experience! It started with the awesome host, who welcomed us with a genuine warm greeting (even though he was visibly busy as busy can be... It was spring break for Texas and we had no reservations.. 3 other restaurants we went into were just rude.. We had no idea that Texas invades Durango this week). So he get's major awesome points awarded. He was very nice and found us a table in a reasonable amount of time and could not have been nicer... It get's better... The waiter was amazing and explained everything well and helped us narrow down our choices... We had the sushi special roll and the Grilled Hanger Steak... We are from Philly/NYC area and are Sushi and Steak snobs. Hands down, this was the best meal we had had in recent memory... YOU NEED TO DINE HERE !!!!! You will be happy you did !!!! -Straight Outta Also, when our meal was ready.. The host and others on staff bought all our meals at once... It was a well orchestrated dance of amazing food... It the small details that impressed us the most.. as well as the food was killer !!!

Ryan M.

Yelp
Fantastic experience! Our server was so kind and perfectly paced the meal. We also loved the food. The chefs really knows what they are doing! Risotto and gnocchi were particular highlights.

Magda N.

Yelp
We are in Durango for the holidays and so happy we bumped into this gem! Food, service, vibe and drink are off the chain.

Ash M.

Yelp
Absolutely unbelievable. I am a foodie from LA who doesn't mind dropping good $ on good food. This place had meh reviews but something told me to try it. Holy smokes, am I glad I did. Service: Kelsey, our server, and Josh, food runner?, were amazing. Not disruptive, timed everything right, had excellent suggestions and were quick and polite. I was iffy when we walked in because the manager was at the host stand and seemed appalled that we didn't have a reservation. Saw him numerous times throughout the meal and he just seemed unhappy. Luckily it was just him. Drinks: We had a few local beers, all delicious. Food: oh my gosh. Everything was to die for. Like, absolutely perfect. Lobster Mac- completely different with a lemony cheese sauce. Paired great with the copious amounts of lobster. Poke sushi roll- I'm from LA and have access to some of the best sushi in America and I can honestly say this was pretty dang good considering our location. Lots of fish, very fresh, and huge. Surf and turf- we split this. I'm a huge steak lover and my wife loves lobster. This lobster tail was PHENOMENAL. Cooked to perfection, buttery and tender and fairly good size. I have no idea what the sauce was under the tail but so good. The filet was cooked to perfection a decent size and absolutely seasoned to perfection. Great peppercorn sauce to compliment the steak and mashed potatoes. Crème brûlée- perfect and light. Just order it. Don't believe the lower reviews. If you're looking for a 5star meal in Durango, this is the spot. Will definitely be back.

Kate B.

Yelp
Food is a bit lack luster. But service is great and drinks are tasty. Atmosphere is nice and location is great.

Bradley V.

Yelp
One of my all time favorite restaurants! Can't go wrong here. The warm beet salad is my all time favorite. Practically anything on the menu is amazing!

Teresa S.

Yelp
Pleasing presentation of each dish. Artfully arranged plate with delectable ingredients, portions were satisfying and healthy. The service was excellent with drinks arriving promptly and appetizers were timely as well. The house wine as well as that sold by the glass off menu were excellent. The ambiance is very sophisticated with mood lighting and tasteful artwork surrounding each area. Do not miss for special occasion or if in Durango for a short visit.

Don F.

Yelp
Great food and ambience. The wine list is extensive. Unfortunately they are open limited hours. Be sure to make a reservation.

Benny L.

Yelp
Excellent food and Wonderful experience with service. Ask for Larkin because she was extremely knowledgeable and attentive.

Austin S.

Yelp
I came here for my grandma's birthday and everyone had a great experience & phenomenal meal. Our waitress didn't really know too much about the wine menu which kind of threw us off and we got charged for my grandma's birthday dessert after they told us it was free? Not a big deal, but again, a little strange for an "upscale" place like Eolus. Definitely recommend the scallops but nothing we ordered wasn't good!

JC T.

Yelp
Food was fabulous, service was fabulous at the bar. Had hanger steak and warm beer salad. So good! 10/10 would recommend.

Mary O.

Yelp
Amazing food, knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive staff. Great "mountain town" ambiance. Excellent cocktails too!

Angi C.

Yelp
I feel like the odd man out here. I wasn't really impressed with Eolus. It's a favorite in Durango from what I was told so we gave it a try. I'd say the service turned me off the most. Our waitress was really pushy and I'd say almost aggressive. She came to our table frequently asking numerous questions- I know- shouldn't be an issue- but there is a fine line between trying to rush us out, to really wanting to serve us. Our reservations were at 7pm- I didn't think was too late- but she sure was rushing us. I had the beet salad- pretty good- not great- needs more goat cheese and nuts. I had the chicken for my main entree- almost over cooked- Mac and cheese was good. I'd say with the huge foodie scene in Durango and the many places I've tried thus far- not my favorite, and won't be back.

Amanda Y.

Yelp
Great service and a nice venue. Overpriced menu overall, and the strangest, worst Caesar salad we have ever had. The hanger steak and lobster corn dogs were wonderful. Fyi: no sushi because they are struggling to find staff - just like everywhere else.

Rj L.

Yelp
This was such an excellent restaurant and we had an excellent meal! Went here for my wife's birthday and sat on the roof. The weather was perfect, the service was perfect, and the food was spot on! I highly recommend this restaurant, it was great!

Lynn C.

Yelp
Hands down my first choice with friends family or visitors. I always put this on the list for my renters to dine in. They care about the entrees and each and every one is consistent. Employees seem to love to work here. Be warned one of the reasons they love it is because they all have weekends off. This place is so good they are only open and work weekdays. Locals make a point to dine weekdays here. So check their hours and I recommend reservations. I dine alone often and enjoy sitting at the friendly bar. With friends or family the ambience in dining room is great, good soft lighting. Or treat your group to the upstairs patio deck, it's lovely!

Dhwani P.

Yelp
Absolutely LOVE this place. What a pleasant surprise in Durango. High class, great ambience perfect service. And, of course, the food! The steamed pork belly bun was perfection. I literally would've just had that for dinner if I'd have known. But they create incredible flavors and experience all around. I wish I could go there tonight

Christa L.

Yelp
Great food and nice ambience. Consistent service and helpful staff. One of Durango's classier restaurants
